I grew up in a half dozen cities from Philadelphia to Berlin. I have an introverted way of dealing with events. Some would rather remain ignorant to noble truths; a blissful existence where puppies go to farms instead of the dumpster when your mum runs them over. Personally I won't contribute to such a life, I won't cater. I am me, staunch though he may be; it is the only person I know and trust.
