Introduction
The Book of Invasions (Leabhar Gabhála) form the major part of the Irish Mythological Cycle. The book tells the stories of successive invasions and settlement of the Celtic people in Erin (Ireland).

Fomorians:
The Fomorians were possibly nothing more than pirates or raiders, since they were never considered to be Celtic people (Irish). The Fomorians were race of strange beings. The Fomorians were ugly, misshapen giants, portrayed as cruel, violent and oppressive. The Fomorians had fought the Partholanians, Nemedians and Tuatha Dé Dananns. The Fomorians ruled over the Nemedians and the Dananns, extracting tributes and taxes from them. These two groups suffered considerable from the oppression and tyranny of the Fomorians.
Tuatha Dé Danann:
Who according to the legends were the Children of the goddess Danu, though they would later become regarded as Celtic deities by the pagan Irish, and in later centuries as fairies. The Dananns lived on the northern isles upon which stood four magical, otherworldly cities, each one ruled by a druid. The cities were called Falias, Gorias, Finias and Murias. In each city, there was a treasure, a talisman that the Danann would later use in their war against the Fomorians. The Danann learned all sorts of arts and crafts, philosophy and warfare, science and magic. They were scholars, craftsmen, and warriors. Their descendants had gained otherworldly powers.
The Battle of Magh Tuiredh
The two races sent parties to talk. The first race was the Tuatha De Danann who came with finely crafted and honed spears and weapons. The second race was the Fomorian's. They were the native race, with weaponry that was far inferior to that of the Danann. The Formorians did not want to talk truce, nor share the land with the Danann. The Danann refused to leave and so the Formorians declared war against them. The Danann, using superior war tactics and weaponry defeated the Fomorians, though the Dananns lost many people in the battle. The Fomorians lost 100,000 warriors, among those killed was their king.
The Danann were aided in battle by four magical weapons. These weapons had come from the four great cities: Falias, Gorias, Findias and Murias. The Stone of Destiny (Lia Fail), a stone that would make ones desires manifest themselves. The Invincible Spear, which according to legend had been carved out of the most ancient oak in all creation, and to be indestructible. The Green Armour of Belldor, rendering it's wearer immune to injury. The forth magical item was The sword of Fraegarthach, which increases the inherent fighting ability of its wielder 10,000 fold.
The plot:
Hitler has procured three of the magical items, all but the magical sword. He intends on discovering the secret of their power and to use that power to create an enhanced fighting force. As the allied forces make their way to the heart of Berlin Hitler is gathering an elite force around him, consisting of the greatest soldiers in the SS. His only hope is to endow these soldiers with the power of the four items in an attempt to alter the outcome of the war
Available Characters:
There are eight official characters to choose from, some of these are specialty characters however, as of yet I have not decided how far into fantasy this RPG will go. In the Indiana Jones films the supernatural was only a small part of the action in the story. As a result some of the characters, in particular the faeries and troll-like creatures may only show up briefly within the over all structure of the RPG. So one should keep this in mind when choosing one of these peripheral characters to roleplay.
1. Tuatha Dé Danann warrior (female)
2. Fomorian giant (male)
3. Indiana Jones
4. Nazi Soldier
5. Nazi Scholar
6. Nazi Scientist
7. Or a character of your own design

One of many children, Abegail was the only one not married with little ones of her own. Abegail preferred books to babes. Myths to bottles. “This was supposed to be a break from it all.” Abegail grumbled to herself as she listened to her mother rattle on and on about how Abegail should be married. Wiping her hands on her apron Abegail cut her mother off. “I am in need of some air. Keep prattlin’ to ye-self, yer the only one listenin’ anyway.” Abegail’s accent, which she so carefully tried to smooth out when teaching, had come back in full force since she had been home. “It’s time I think of heading back...” Abegail muttered to herself. It wasn’t the first time Abegail considered going back.
Abegail sat in the grass and looked out over the green fields. Footsteps approached behind her and involuntarily Abegail tensed. She had been shot at and snuck up on far too much in her recent history and was still jumpy. A man cleared his throat. “Dr McHugh?” Abegail turned and looked at the man. “Aye, I’d be her. What can I do ye for?” The man held out an envelope. “For you.”
Taking the envelope Abegail thanked the man as he walked away. With a frown she opened it. Inside was a letter from one of her old professors. He had died recently. Abegail had attended the funeral so a letter from him came as quite a surprise. He was a professor of Irish History at Abegail’s alma mater.
Reading it Abegail’s face paled. The man wrote on how he had unwittingly helped an SS officer procure three artifacts and was helping them figure out the location of the fourth and how to use them together. He stated he had no idea that the man he was working with was part of the SS. The professor wrote how he worked with him as a historian and expert on the area, that the items they found were of profound significance to Ireland. Abegail knew exactly what he was referring to. The weapons of the Danann, the fae race that had conquered the Fomorian’s. One of the oldest stories of Ireland. That they were true, that they really existed and that they were now in the hands of the SS was profound.
“Oh what have ye done...” Abegail knew she had to do something. She knew exactly who to contact. Abegail ran into the house and penned two letters.
The letters were identical.
“My dear friend,
I would be honoured if you would come for a visit here in Ireland. I am in need of your opinion on a matter of great importance. I do not ask this favour lightly but some old friends of ours have stretched their hand out to the emerald isles where items of extreme importance may be at risk. I will explain more in person.
Yours,
Abegail”
These she sent express courier to America. They were intended for the hands and eyes of two of Abegail’s colleagues and friends.
One of these letters was addressed to Dr. Walter Rivers and the other to Dr. Indiana Jones. Both men had worked with Abegail at Marshall in the States. Both men dealt with archaeology and the occult. Both men were needed for this. Abegail knew the history of the weapons better than either man and together maybe they could find the find weapon before Hitler’s SS did.
Abegail hoped they would come and help her figure out what to do to stop Hitler’s influence here in the land of her birth, the land of warriors both real and mythical.

All of the sudden, alarms went out everywhere as the Pilot told Indy he had a incoming call from Washington (Which shouldn't really be possible as they are over Ireland in the middle of the air, but i was a good guess to say it was the CIA). Which was really just a warning the Hitler has put a bounty on Indies head. Which changed really nothing, except perhaps for bounty hunter attacks and assassins to come after them. More often anyways.
SO, 2 jets and 4 Nazi planes were fighting overhead. They were actually flying near Abegail's house, give or take a few miles, when the attack happened. Initially, the plan was to land in a nearby field. But that went to hell when one of the fighters crashed into the ship, damaging a wing and engine. The jets took out the other 3, managing to lose none of their own. SO, there was only one option. Parachute out. So, Indy and the pilot got parachutes, ejecting from the plane and parachuting to the ground.
And of course, Indy aimed himself right in front of Abigail's house. Typical.

Stepping up to it she could see the two jets and four other planes overhead. Abegail made note that the four were nazi planes. She shivered remembering her last run in with them. Then in the blink of an eye she saw the crash. Abegail was startled. She threw open the window. "Get ye home, now!" The tone was harsh but she wanted her niece to head home as quickly as possible. No telling what would happen now.
Abegail rushed to the front door. She threw it open just in time to see Indy landing in the front lawn. Abegail blinked. As he planted his feet Abegail walked out to meet him. Her arms crossed, she smiled as she watched the parachute fall around him. "Would be typical of ye to make such and entrance. Ye can't arrive in a car like a normal person?"
Abegail smiled at Indy. "It's good to see ye, I am glad ye came. No comments on the accent now, understand? I know it's more than normal but I havna been teaching since...just no teasin' from ye." Abegail gave Indy a teasing look and stepped closer to him. "I am glad ye came, I am hoping Walter will come too. This is, well I will explain more once ye get settled. Have ye got a place to stay? I am sure Ma and Da would put ye up iffin ye need a place."

Thats when she noticed planes fighting over head "Bloody hell! if it's not one things it's another", and she went running for cover; she came across what appeared to be a shed and she dove into it trying not to get shot. She breathed a sigh of relief, as she heard one of the planes crash, very close to where she had been standing. "I just can't get a break can I either the damned Nazi's are tryin to shoot me, or tryin to drop airplanes on me", when she decided to coast was clear she came out. "Curious I wonder whose land I'm on", she said as she stretched, as she made her way to the front of the house she saw parachutes sitting in the front yard, and she could see the smoke from the crashed plane. "Good God, I hope these people aren't being attacked by Nazi's or somethin", she said; that's when she noticed the name on the letter box "McHugh... so this is doc McHugh's place.... maybe I should knock and see if every things okay. The worst that could happen is some more Nazi's sticks a gun in me face... again", she said as she knocked on the front door.
What the Nazi soldier said: "If you come back you'll be shot on sight!"

Abegail grabbed Indy and led him to a small but cozy sitting room. Abegail plopped onto the nearest chair. "Sorry about that. She is determined to see me married off."
Abegail smiled at Indy. "Now I am glad ye came and iff'n ye can put up with her we will work out of the house here. The soldiers are apparently everywhere. They have been excavating, and posing as historians and the like. Tricking our own inta helpin' them without even realizin'" Abegail's tone was both bitter and angry.
There was knock on the front door. Abegail stood, "Make yerself comfy. Maybe that will be Walter and we can get started on all this. Ma is sure to be cooking up a storm for dinner." Abegail exited the sittingroom. Opening the front door Abegail frowned slightly. "Well, yer definitely not Walter. Are ye a student of Dr. Jones? Did he leave ye to find your own way here? Typical of him. Wouldna have thought he'd have left a pretty little thing like ye to fend for yerself but...come in then."
Abegail turned to lead the pretty dark haired girl into the house just as her mother was coming out of the kitchen with the tea. Abegail's mother smiled large at the girl. "Bridget girl, what brings ye here today?"
Abegail turned, "Not a student then. Apologies, aye? Ma, I'll take that." Abegail took the tray of tea from her mother and moved back into the sitting room. Abegail's mother moved over to Bridget and gave her a quick hug. "Now luv, want some tea?"

"Remember when I laid right hook inta Sean Finnagans face fer callen me ugly, Mrs McHugh, head master tanned me hide good fer dat one", she chuckled bit and sipped the tea. She set down the tea cup back on the tray, "Well I''l let ya bet back to ye company, now that I know the bloody Nazi's avent taken over", she said as she stood to leave.

Abegail nodded at Bridget, "Nice to meet ye. Nothing wrong with a temper and a desire to fight for your place." Abegail smiled. "No nazi soldiers here. Just us. Thank ye for the concern though." Abegail stood to follow Bridget to the door.
Abegail was just as surprised at Bridget as she opened the door and found Walter standing there. Abegail tilted her head to look at Walter from behind Bridget. "Well, we have a party now don't we. Bridget here has been accosted by nazi's while trying to do her job and came to check on my parents. Seems Indy got himself into a plane crash and Bridget happened to see it. Bein' neighbourly came to check on my parents. Poor girl ended up with just us." Abegail smiled at Walter.
"Bridget O'Maley, this is Dr. Walter Rivers. Walter, Bridget is a former student of me mam's and from what I can figure an archeologist." Abegail looked at Bridget. "Assuming with the diggin' in dirt and mentionin' of sites and such." Abegail kept her smile. "Indy is here, haven't filled him in on anythin' yet. Bridget, what do ye know of the tales of the Tuatha De Danann? The more heads on this I imagine the better and frankly another fiesty woman is what we need to balance out these men." Abegail chuckled.
Stepping back she allowed room for Bridget and Walter to both head into the sitting room again. "Ma, I think we might need a bit more tea. And another bed made up. Dr. Rivers is here now."
Abegail's mother poked her head out of the sittingroom where she had been accosting Indy about his relationship status. "Oh, is he married?"
Abegail shot her mother a look, "Enough of that now. Ye hear? Not another word. We have thin's to discuss." Abegail looked at Walter and Bridget, an aplogetic look on her face. "Sorry, 'bout that. There be no more of that now. More important thin's to worry about aye?"
As Walter moved into the house, Abegail pulled him aside slightly, "Thank ye for comin'. I wasn't sure if ye would, after last time I wasn't sure you'd want to risk gettin' tangled up with this sort of thin' with me. But I am glad ye came, so.." Abegail nodded and let Walter move to greet Indy.

I don't know why their after the items but in my opinion anything connected to Hitler is bad news. So far I've only been searching for the item in this area, but they took over my dig site every time, I can't get funding to go anywhere else well cause most museums think I'm a wee bit mad for looking for mythical items", she said with a sigh.

If there be a better young one to have with ye on this I don't know any." Mrs McHugh moved into the sitting room where the men with with a fresh tray of tea and some bread and jam.
Abegail smiled at Bridget, "Well then, ye have my endorsement and since I asked them here the men will have to stand by my decision. Shall we?"
Abegail moved back into the sitting room. Taking a seat she waited for the men to finish their greetings before she was ready to lay out the legends for them. Having Bridget here would make it even easier to explain the legends and myths.

Abegail sipped her tea. It was still hot. Through the steam she watched Bridget sit next to Indy. Bridget was a pretty girl and both men would likely be smitten. Abegail had a playful smile on her face. "Should be interesting to watch the men fawn over the her." Abegail predicted that the whole thing would amuse her greatly. The older men and the young archeologist wanting to prove herself. Abegail may have been like that at one time, now she didn't believe in such romance. "No, ye've never been the romantic, fawning or mooning sort. Too much of a willful girl, that's what yer ma reminds you often." Still the three of them should make for good fun to watch. Lost in this thought Abegail's smile stayed giving her the appearance that she knew something the rest didn't.
Abegail sat there with the smile and her tea until someone got her attention. Only then did she realize that they had concluded their greetings.

“Now, ye are here because I received a letter. A former professor of mine passed on recently. He was an expert in Ireland’s mythology and history. His classes were always interesting. He is the reason I got into grail mythology and what not. “ Abegail smiled a little, remembering the man fondly.
“Seems before he passed he had been working’with a supposed historian, a foreigner. He helped this man locate three of Ireland’s most legendary mythological weapons. Turns out the man he helped were a SS officer. It wasn’t until they were beginnin’ the search for the fourth weapon that he discovered who the man really was.”
Abegail placed her cup down on the tray. “Three of the weapons are in the hands of the SS. We have to stop them from procurin’ the fourth and final piece.”
Abegail looked at Bridget, “Now, Miss Bridget has been workin’ on locatin’ the weapons herself and the nazi’s are now makin’ their presence openly known. No more hiding behind pretences. Openly threatenin’ dig sites and stoppin’ our own from doin’ their job. No tellin’ iffin’ they have offed anyone yet but wouldna be surprised. They are close to completin’ what they came here for so why pretend any longer. Bridget will fill in anythin’ I might be missin’ but I think you two need a lesson in Ireland’s myths before we embark on this.”
Abegail stood and went to shelf. She pulled down a worn book from one of the shelves. “Ye see, we have what is called the Leabhar Gabhala, the book of invasions. Every family has their own copy. It’s been reprinted, handwritten and passed down in stories for generations. It’s the story of two people who came together to fight for Erin, for the land you are on now. Ireland was home of a race of people called the Fomorians. Not Celts, no they weren’t true celts but they lived here none the less. “
Abegail took the book and sat back down in her chair. “Fomorians were giants, ugly, cruel and oppressive. The Tuatha De Danann are what ye might call faeries. They occupy stories of pagan gods and goddesses. They are ethereal and magical. What ye think of when you think of a fae maiden is what the Danann are. They suffered greatly under the tyranny of the Fomorians. The Danann were scholars, artisans, craftsmen and brave warriors.”
Abegail opened the book, she looked at Indy and then Walter. They seemed to be listening so she continued. “Once the two races talked, a treaty was desired. It was not to be. Fomorians wanted to rule all but the Danann were superior in weaponry and tactics. There was to be no talk. Instead war broke out and thousands of warriors from both sides were lost. The Danann, brought with them to battle, four magical weapons. In the end the Danann won. “
Closing the book, Abegail looked up at the three. “Currently, the SS hold the Stone of Destiny, the Invincible Spear and the Green Armour of Belldor. All they need to complete the set is the Sword of Fraegarthach. Once they have them all, it will be nigh impossible to stop the man wieldin’ them all.”
Abegail sighed, “That is why I asked you here. I canna locate the sword and stop them myself. With the two of I had hoped we could locate it. With Bridget along, givin’ this is what the girl does we have an even better chance. I know ye do occult and mystical and this is just what ye’d call a fairy tale but I assure ye, we believe in this legend and if three of the weapons were found there is a great deal of truth behind it all. The professor was not a man with flights of fancy. Experts dedicate their life to studyin’ the Danann and the legends. It’s a strong part of who we are.” Abegail gave a slight nod to Bridget, knowing that the girl would feel the same way about her heritage and her homeland.
“So, will ye help and do ye have any questions? Once ye agree ta help we can talk about the best place to start lookin’ is. Ma will be wantin’ ye three ta stay for dinner so I hope yer hungry and there is beds here for the two of ye men. Bridget I imagine ye have a place somewhere in town?”
Abegail picked up her tea again and waited for them to digest all she had said and asked. She was going to look for the sword regardless of what the men said and she
hoped that she’d at least have help in Bridget.

Turning in for the evening the McHugh house become dark and still. In her room Abegail tossed and turned. She hadn't slept well since she and Walter had been in Spain. Nightmares plagued her, visions of Niclas' face and the blackstone flooded in when she would have rather been sleeping. Recently it had begun to get slightly better. Now, with this new mystery in front of her Abegail found herself worrying again about the nazi's. For the first time in months Abegail worried that she might run into Niclas again. Her only hope was that he had not made it out of France. The sinking feeling in her stomach told her that he was too crafty to have not gotten out.
Sleep eluded Abegail. Before the sun was rising she snuck out of the McHugh household and headed into the heart of the town. From there she caught the early morning train into Dublin. Abegail, in the early morning light arrived at the home of her old professor. With a breath in she knocked on the door. It was a long time before the little woman opened the door. His widow was small, slightly frail and obviously had still been sleeping. Abegail introduced herself. The woman knew who Abegail was, she recognized the name even though they had never met. Allowing Abegail in the lady closed the door. Four hours later Abegail exited the home again, this time her arms laiden with books, notes and other articles from the professor's study.
Abegail waited at the station. As she sat, the large pile of things in her lap the familiar sensation began to run up her back. She was being watched. Abegail would have bet moeny on it. Standing, Abegail held the pile tightly to her. There was no way anyone was taking them from her. Cursing herself for not bringing her briefcase, Abegail began to pace. The train arrived fifteen minutes later. Abegail boarded and found a seat near an exit. She sat on the aisle seat and watched the few passengers board the train. The feeling was still there. "Maybe it's just nerves, seeing shadows and the like..." Abegail tried hard to bolster herself. The last time she had this feeling there had been bullets and the nazi's attempting to corner Walter and her.
The train pulled in to the smaller station and Abegail disembarked. Pausing on the platform she wished she had told someone where so was going. The walk back to the house was tiring with the pile weighing her down as she moved. It was almost noon by the time Abegail opened the door to the McHugh house.
"Where have ye been! We've been goin' out of ours minds! Ye didna have the decency ta leave a note! What were ye thinkin' Abegail Charlotte!" Her mother's anger was more worry than anything. Abegail stood wide-eyed in the doorway. Indiana and Walter came out of the kitchen behind her mother. Abegail frowned, "I am no a wee babe in need of babysittin'. I can handle it fine There is work ta be done so I started it. Donna scold me for doin' my job." Abegail's voice was angry, far more angry than her mother was. "Now if ye'll let me in the door, this pile is na light aye?" Pushing in the door Abegail headed into the sitting room. Once there she deposited the pile down.
"Now I got all the professor's notes that the nazi's didna already take. I have everything I could find from his study about the weapons, the Danann and the Fomorian's. There is a problem. I have the feelin' I was followed. No one has made an appearance as yet but in canna be long before they do." Abegail looked at the men, her hands on her hips.

As the morning rays began to saturate the tent she moaned not wanting to wake up but found herself waking up despite the fact. She came out of the tent and made a little camp fire and set to making herself some stiff black coffee to wake herself up. After her meager breakfast of biscuits and bad coffee she made her way back to the McHughs. Whistleing down the road a thought crossed her mind of something her father had told her when she was little and would be whistleing down the road much like she was right now "Whistling girls and crowing hens Always come to some bad ends", she laughed it was funny what you remembered from your childhood at the oddest moments. She made her way up to the door and knocked.

Indy looked up and smiled at Bridget, "Morning." He gave her a nod. Mrs McHugh placed a plate on the table for Bridget and a cup full of strong coffee.
Hours went by and Mrs McHugh cooked and fretted about the kitchen all the while mumbling ot herself about wild children and girls with more will then brains.
At noon the door opened and from the kitchen the group could hear Mrs McHugh yelling at Abegail and Abegail's voice in return. As the men moved out of the kitchen Abegail could see Bridget behind them. "Oh good yer here already. You can give me a hand with some of these notes. He has locations noted. Places they went and looked for the weapons. We need to piece together where they went and what they found where along with what sites they hadna gone ta yet. Ye'll be able ta tell me where ye've been lookin' see if we can make head's or tails of it all. I wouldna know some of these places. Been away too long."
To Abegail's right her mother scowled, "If ye had any brains in yer head you'd leave it all alone, settle down with a man and stay here permanently." With that Mrs McHugh huffed off to leave the scholars to go through the books and notes.
Abegail sat on the floor and started sorting books. "Here, this is log from a dig. See what ye can find in his notes. We need a place to start." She handed another book to Indy and a third to Walter, "They have some details about each of the races. Again, we need to know what we are dealin' with. We canna just go dig for the sword and expect it will just be found and will do what we want." Abegail began pouring over a book. Her stomach rumbled but she ignored it.
A few minutes later, Mrs McHugh brough her daughter a cup of coffee. The woman was calmer now and placing the cup down she reached over and patted her daughter's cheek lovingly before she headed back into the kitchen.

Abigail's suspicions were about to be affirmed as several dark figures emerged from the shadows of a nearby outcropping of trees. The four as of yet unidentified men had purposely positioned themselves far enough away from the small dwelling as to not be noticed by anyone that might walk out the front door. Slowly and methodically the four figures walked toward the McHugh residents. Covert due to the reach of the topmost branches of the band of trees and the ever-increasing shadows that were generated from these hangings, the silhouetted figures marched on.

The somewhat amusing fact that all four scholars had simultaneously discovered what they were looking for within the books that they were handed was suddenly obliterated by the barrage of bullets that were now penetrating the walls of the small home. Instinctively they all grabbed and clutched at their books to keep them from being damaged by the obscene onslaught.

Abegail was about to point out a fact about the spear, an important note about the ritual used to locate it when the first bullet smashed the window pane in the front hall. Abegail jumped. "Git down!" She yelled and began scooping up the books around her. "No wait! Ma!" Abegail went to stand as more bullets began to rip into the home. There were noises all around them. Indy grabbed Abegail and pulled her back low to the floor. "Head down now." Abegail began to protest, "Donna tell me what to do!" She tried to crawl away towards the kitchen. There was firm grasp on her ankle. "Don't argue." With that Indy pulled Abegail back towards him. Keeping her head covered he looked to Walter and Bridget.
Grabbing what books they could the group began a low crawl into the front hall. Again, Abegail tried to pull herself away to head to the kitchen but Indy kept a firm hold her her. From the front hall the group could see Mrs McHugh huddled down against her lower cupboards. Abegail suppressed a cry as she saw a dark figure move past the kitchen window. The handle of the back door began to shake. Being locked the person began to push on it. Mrs McHugh grabbed a pan from the counter and prepared to defend herself. Indy grabbed Abegail's waist firmly and pulled her away from the kitchen. Abegail tried to fight him off but she was also trying to hold the books. Indy indicated to Walter to grab Bridget and open the front door. They'd make a break for it, hoping they either had to reload or whoever was out there had moved to the back of the house.
Indy silently counted to three and on three Walter opened the door. Walter and Bridget made their way out the door first. Indy, dragging a fighting Abegail followed. Outside, Abegail was fighting in Indy's grasp like a wild cat. Indy pointed a group of trees out to Walter. Scooping Abegail up and over his shoulder rather unceremoniously he followed them towards the trees. The group crouched in the brush. Walter and Bridget could see the figures moving on the outside of the house. Two, from what they could see now they were clearly SS officers, headed to the open front door. There was discussion between them but they were too far off to hear what was being said. Walter and Bridget watched them talking. A third figure came from the back of the house. His face was bloody and he was holding his nose. Mrs McHugh had clearly put up a fight.
As they watched the house, behind them Indy was in a struggle with Abegail. She attempted to claw and fight her way from him, intent on returning to the house. "I don't make it a habit of hitting women but Abby I will hit you if you don't stop fighting me. We can't go back." Indy's voice was quiet but firm as he tried to get Abegail under control. Abegail pounded his chest with a fist, "They must have followed me, I canna just sit here..." Her voice became choked off as she stifled a sob. She had put her mother in danger. Brought them to her door.
Walter and Bridget watched to see what the next move of the officers was going to be so that the quartet of scholars could also make their next move.

"Kommen Sie. Abigail McHugh, ich weiß, du bist hier."
Indy looked from Abegail to Walter. He looked at him questioningly. In his hands, Abegail was shaking. Abegail looked at Walter and the fear was clear in her eyes. "No." It was all she managed to say. Abegail was not a weak woman but the sound of Niclas' voice made her knees shake. Indy's grip tightened on her arms, not to restrain her but to help hold her up.
Indy looked to Walter. Obviously, both he and Abegail had run into this man before. Indy was willing to let Walter take the lead.
Abegail stared past Indy and across the field. It almost felt like Niclas was looking right at her. Abegail's anger started to rise. "That man is a menace. I canna let him just invade my home like that." Her voice a harsh angry whisper. Now, she fought Indy's grip so she could go at the German man. Indy almost lost his grip with her sudden shift of energy. "Decide what we are doing quick man. I don't know how long I can keep her steady here." Indy whispered harshly.
As Walter led Bridget to the jeep, Indy followed dragging a rather pissed off Abegail behind him. They climbed into Walter's jeep. Indy plopped Abegail on his lap.
"How dare ye!" Abegail snipped at him. Indy smirk one of his trademark smirks. "If you don't stop I'll kiss you to shut you up." Abegail scowled, "Ye would na dare."
Indy chuckled, "Try me." Abegail sat on Indy's lap in the cramped jeep as Walter drove off. She still had the scowl on her face, unsure if she should protest more or not.

Abegail was shocked as Walter handed her the gun. Taking it she stopped fighting Indy. "We are going back!' Abegail would have hugged Walter if he hadn't been driving. The relief showed clearly on her face. Indy released his grip on the woman and Abegail manouvred onto the cramped seat beside him. It wouldn't be cramped for long and Indiana prepared to prop himself onto the back bumper.
Abegail, holding the gun in front of her looked at Walter, "Be careful." Then looking at Indy, "Both of ye, no dying because of this ye hear?"
With that Abegail gave Bridget a quick smile. The poor girl had no idea what she was in for. Abegail braced herself on the seat, gun in hand and prepared for the fight that was to come. The plane going overhead, aimed at her home worried her. There was no telling who was in the aircraft. "No rest for the wicked."

The jeep turned sharply and she had to hold on even tighter to keep herself from being thrown out of the side of the jeep. Abegail watched Indy leap off the back of the jeep, He took two officers down with him. The three bodies fell to the ground. Indy propped himself and punched the first man hard in the jaw. The second tried to move out from under Indy but Indy grabbed him by the sides of his face and smacked his head off the ground.
Abegail looked at Walter. "What now?" Abegail was worried. The jeep slowed a bit and Niclas and the other officer began to advance on the vehicle.

Niclas didn't put the gun down, instead he turned slowly to face Abegail. "Fraulien, it is one thing to shoot a man in the back of ze head. It is another to do it to his face. Can you do that?"
Abegail stepped back. The look in his eyes made her knees shake slightly in fear. "Yer not ta move. I will pull the trigger." Her mind was screaming at her, "Where are they? Did they get ma yet? Are they just going to leave me? Shoot him!"
Abegail swallowed and Niclas took a step towards her. He stared at her as if his eyes could look right through her. Abegail narrowed her eyes. "Yer a pain in my side from the moment I met ye. I'll not let ye make me afraid." He took another step towards her. Abegail raised the gun as if she was going to shoot it but at the last minute lowered it to punch Niclas.
In their last meeting, Abegail had been able to hit him and run away but this time Niclas saw it coming. He grabbed Abegail's wrist as she swung her fist. Niclas pulled Abegail towards him, twisting her arm as he did so. Abegail found her back up against the German man. Her arm was twisted behind her and was beginning to hurt. Niclas spun Abegail around so she faced the jeep and the her companions. "Herr Doktors. I suggest you stop this fighting this instant or your little friend will pay for your disobedience." To emphasize his point he wrenched Abegail's arm up until she gave an audible yelp.
Abegail fought the pain in her arm. He hadn't bothered to remove the gun from her other hand. Her face scrunched in pain she looked down, aimed the gun towards Niclas' foot, closed her eyes and pulled the trigger.

Indy came to the jeep. He kept his gun on Niclas and Abegail reached to help him climb in. Once in the three were very squished in the backseat. Niclas' anger was written all over his face. He called for his men and to Abegail's relief none came to his aid. Abegail heard Walter speak to Niclas and the jeep drove off. Abegail's mother grabbed her and hugged her tightly. She was talking quickly, Abegail couldn't make out what she was saying. "It's alright now ma. We'll take ye some place safe. Da and the boys can come get you later." Her mother held Abegail's hand tightly for the rest of the ride.
When they arrived in the smaller town a few hours later Mrs McHugh got out of the jeep. She grabbed Bridget, "Ye be careful." She hugged her tightly. Mrs McHugh grabbed Indy's hand. "Ye take care of yerself. Don't let anyone stop ye." She patted his hand. Moving to Walter, Mrs McHugh patted his cheek, "Thanks to ye for comin' back. Mind would have prefered if you hadna left me in the first place." Mrs McHugh chuckled. She looked at both men, "Ye two men, take care of my girls now. Girls, make sure the boys donna do anything stupid, aye?"
With that Mrs McHugh grabbed Abegail and hugged her hard. The two women whispered and Mrs McHugh turned and headed in to the pub. She'd call her husband and her sons and they would take care of picking her up. They'd also deal with whatever might await them at home. Abegail hated the idea of leaving her and her family to take care of the mess but there was so much to do. Abegail quietly climbed into the jeep with the rest and they set off again.
Abegail looked at Walter, "Thank ye for goin' back and to ye Bridget for drivin' so well." Turning to Indy, "Thank ye from savin' me from him." Abegail sat in silence for the rest of the drive. Lost in her thoughts the guilt of brining the nazi's to her family's door and putting the rest in danger was causing a knot in her stomach.

Bridget pulled the jeep into the city of Tullamore. Finding a small, out of the way hotel Abegail headed in. She was able to negotiate two rooms with two beds in each. Abegail also arranged it with the front desk, by way of money slipped his way, that their arrival and room numbers stay hush hush. Abegail was beginning to become paranoid about when Niclas could show up again.
Once at the door to the rooms Abegail paused to give Walter a brief pat on the arm, "Thank ye again. Truly for goin' back." Abegail patted Indy's cheek, "And ye for riskin' yer neck for me." Abegail found herself oddly uncomfortable around both men. Slipping into her room with a smile she left Bridget to flirt with the men before she joined Abegail.
Abegail quickly washed her face and then turned to the pile of books they had managed to save. There was heaviness in Abegail's chest as she realized that she hadn't had time to pack her briefcase. That thing had been everywhere with her. Even in the last excursion she and Walter had it had been along and even saved her skin a time or two. Pushing the feeling aside Abegail began spreading the books out. Flipping through she found the pages that referred to locations the professor had theorized as the home of the sword. She sat waiting for Bridget's arrival back in the room.
-----
Niclas watched the jeep drive off. He longed to hit something. He walked past the house, not giving the bodies of the fallen soldiers a second look. He headed to where the plane had touched down. Climbing aboard he began to bark orders for take off. He was seething. That woman and the american were becoming a greater nuisance. Dr McHugh had the notes he needed and she was one of the few who'd be able to figure out the last part. Dr Rivers was always there to help her. The two together were like a splinter in his foot that he couldn't quite get rid of. They had unwittingly given him some leverage though. Dr Jones he knew from reputation and very brief run in a great deal of time ago. The young woman, he had a file on her but she originally was just an annoying archeologist who stuck her nose in their dig sites. Niclas smiled an eerie grin. If Dr McHugh wouldn't do as he wanted and help him find the sword then he'd just have to make sure the other three made the point for him. He'd take great pleasure in torturing them in front of the pain in ass red head. He'd start with the girl, then Dr Jones and ending with Dr Rivers, drawing his torture out for as long as humanly possible. The man was a pest in his own right.
Niclas reasoned it shouldn't be too hard to find them. Four travellers, with their descriptions would not go unnoticed for long. He'd start sending soldiers out in various directions from the McHugh home. It was getting to be late and they'd have to find shelter somewhere.

Indiana had apparently gone out for some supplies, such as additional bullets for his revolver and various other provisions, something which Walter and the hers would not have thought to do, not being as familiar with the realities of taking on such an important quest. After a few hours Indiana would return to the Inn and to his bed, non of the others would know of his late night excursion to the seedier corners of the small town.

Abegail waited for Bridget. When the younger woman came into the room Abby let her settle in before the two poured over the books. The two spent hours going over notes, descriptions and ideas. Soon the women were so tired that everything they read began to blend together. Abegail pushed aside the books. "That's it for now. I canna look at that any more. Sleep and we can look at it again in the morn." With that, Abegail settled into her bed. She tried to sleep but found herself tossing and turning. Abegail was worried about her family, if they men got her mother and if the house was okay. She had left them with much to worry about.
The next morning, when Bridget awoke Abegail was sitting on her bed reading again. "I think I have narrowed it down to two places. The Hill of Uisneach, the geographic centre or Ireland or the Hill of Tara. Tara is where the kings were said to be crowned but more importantly there seems to be a fae hill and entrance near by. Or at least suspected. The professor makes mention of the greeter and the keeper for the sword. They are na far apart so I canna see why we should na try for both." Abegail closed the book. "Let's get some food and then wake the men."
Abby brushed her hair with her fingers as best she could and the women headed down to the small restaurant for some strong coffee and food. Sitting at the table the two made idle chat about Ireland and the things that had changed while Abegail was working in America.

Frowning at him, much to Bridget enjoyment, Abegail continued, "Aye the hill of Tara is a good spot to start. We will have to be alert. While there will be tourists around it will na stop them from coming after us. We will be needing to go off the hill, away from the crowds to find the entrance and other marks the professor referred to in his notes." Taking a sip of her coffee she paused. "Walter are you feelin' alright? Ye seem...chipper this mornin' and Abs?" Abegail eyed Walter, a smile tesing the corners of her mouth. "Can I start callin' ye Wally then? Is that how this will work now? I have taken down other men yer size for callin' me that." Somehow it didn't seem to bother her as much coming from Walter.
"I'll finish my coffee then grab the books and we can meet Indy out front."

"Indiana, what the bloody hell do ye think yer doin'? Do ye realize that I have had to leave everythin' behind? Do ye?" Abegail was angry. Getting those books and notes had been work in itself and then the nazi's shot up her parents home because of it. Now all that gone because Indy had made a bad deal. Abegail slumped a bit and rubbed her face. "Bridget will lead you there. We need to get to the hill of Tara." Without the notes Abby wasn't sure if she'd know what to do when they got there. She could have kicked herself for not getting her briefcase when they left originally and for not bringing everything down to breakfast with her. If this went bad it would be her fault. What if the key was in those notes and she couldn't remember?
Abegail leaned on the door and stared out the window as the Irish countryside passed her by. Her thoughts revolving around all she could remember around the lore of the hill of Tara.

The idea of facing Niclas or any soldier for that matter made Abegail's stomach knot but it was worth it if it meant the rest of the scholars got to the sword before the nazi's managed to get it. With a chuckle Abegail looked at the other three, "If ye have a better idea I'm all ears, aye?" She looked at Bridget, "Know a way to call the fair fold in to get rid of the intruders?" Abegail was only half joking. As she looked at the young woman Abegail's mind was going through all the legends and stories she had ever been told as a child about calling up the wrath of the fairies.
Bridget, arms resting on the hood of the car frowned. "Hmm." The young woman began to think as well. "Are they a superstitious lot? What if we just make'em think the fae are angry? You know some smoke and mirrors?"

As the car hit, Abegail moved around the boulder. Bridget moved with her and Walter followed close behind. As the commotion kicked up over the crashed car the trio met up with Indy. As they moved in to get closer, Abegail grabbed Indy's arm, whispering harshly to him, "Next time let's talk that sort of thing out first aye? We have no way to get away now."
Quietly the group slipped in for a closer look at what the nazi's had in the tent. Abegail looked around and prayed to whatever saint might still listen to her that Niclas was no where near by.
Bridget stayed close to Walter. She was a little overwhelmed. Not a coward by any means, Bridget was not used to sneaky around like this. Abegail could sympathize with the look on the girl's face. It wasn't so long ago that Abegail was in the same spot.
Quietly, Abegail came to a doorway and holding her breath, peeked through.

Abegail stood and looked at the rest. "We should take what we can and find a way to get out of here. They will na be distracted for much longer." As if hearing Abegail's comment the group began to hear footsteps coming towards them. They all grabbed what fragments they could and ran out of the room and into an adjoining hallway.
Indy nudged them all towards another door that appeared to head out. They moved on, and once again found themselves outside. Heading into the trees, they stopped in a grove and paused to catch their breath. Abegail sat, rested her head back against a tree and closed her eyes.
A noice from Bridget made Abegail open her eyes. Abegail looked up to find the girl staring at her. "Abegail, donna make a sudden move. Yer in a fairy ring." Abegail looked around her. "Blast it!" Abegail had sat herself down in a mushroom ring, common superstitions called it a fairy ring. The men looked at each other. Abegail looked at them, knowing they'd be thinking it was child's play and fancy. "Aye, ring of the fairer folk said to cause those who wander in to face an early death, to dance till they canna dance no more...a trap." Abegail stood slowly. "The professors notes said there might be an entrance to the land of the fae near the hill of Tara. A ring would make sense to trap anyone senseless enough ta seek the fae out. Ye know, like us." Abegail tried to smile, lighten the mood.
Bridget crossed her arms, "We need ta get ye out of there without alertin' anyone." Abegail looked at the men, "I know, you donna understand but we are near a centre of power, that stone...if they are real there is a chance they will come for me. Canna take a chance."

Inside the ring, what Abegail saw was much different. As Abegail stared at the sight around her Bridget grabbed firmly onto her hand and pulled. Abegail found herself laying on the ground. Closing her eyes, she gave her head a shake and then looked at the others. "Thank ye. Sillyness but better safe than sorry." Abegail smiled but it was forced. The colour was gone from her face. "Right so, what are we to do now?" Abegail stood and brushed off her clothes. She felt a chill as she looked to where the ring was.
Bridget looked at Walter and Indy, concern on her face. "Well, we need to find the sword and we need a way to get ta where it might be. Any ideas men?" The women looked at Indy and Walter. Bridget had her hands on her hips and Abegail wrapped her arms around herself as if warding off a chill only she felt.

Abegail let Walter's words sink in as Bridget examined the door. Abegail nodded, "Yes, I think we are likely to run into him again."
Bridget didn't wait for anyone else, she opened the door. The musty air hit her. "Well, not dusty so the door has been opened recently." She began to step in. Abegail halted her, "Unless ye have a gun I suggest ye let one of the men go first." Abegail looked at the men, waiting for them to pull a weapon and lead in. "Follow close we donna want to get seperated in there or lost. There is no telling what we will run into."
Abegail cast a glance back to the ring. She was sure she could see a shimmering figure there. Uncharacteristically, Abegail moved closer to Walter and gripped his arm slightly. He could feel her hand shaking. Her jaw clenched and she steeled herself for the next part as she watched Indy and Bridget step into the opening. It was dark, the light from the outdoors illuminating the first three feet of the tunnel.
Abegail knew these mounds were massive labryinths. Tunnels that stretched on and on. There was no telling where the dark passage lead and for how long. "Also no way of knowing who or what is waiting for us..." This thought Abegail kept to herself.

Abegail whispered to Bridget, "Bíonn cluasa ar na clathacha." The younger woman nodded. Both were watching the walls as occassionally small crevices, intentionally carved in appeared in the smooth walls. The crevices seemed to be open at the back and would have been assumed to be cracks it they weren't so percisely carved. The saying meant the walls have ears and the two knew from legends that in mounds the fae or those who had built it always left ways to watch and listen for intruders. Abegail's hunch was that these crevices were for that purpose.
Abegail's mind was working overtime trying to figure out what they would encounter when they reached the end of the stairs. There were so many legends of swords and those that carried them in the myths of Ireland. Abegail worried they might not get it right even if they found what they were looking for. The best hope was that the German's had no idea as well. Down the four figures moved. Abegail was sure there were others, others watching the descent. Abegail wasnt' sure if she should hope it was the fair folk or the nazi's though. Neither seemed to be in their best interest right now.

The setting changes from United States and Ireland to Ireland (1944)
Ahead of them in the cavern stood three doorways. Abegail began inspecting on, looking for writing or carving that would help indicate what it lead to. Bridget did the same with one of the others. Indy wandered a bit, looking for a sign of others that had gone ahead of them and which path they had taken.
Abegail's hands ran over the stone. "Have ye found anything?" Her hands encountered something as if in answer to her own question. "I need the light. Walter if ye'd be so kind? I think I found something." Abegail's voice, though quiet echoed slightly in the vast cavern.
When Walter moved over with his lighter, Bridget followed. Indy continued on his own inspection. With the light closer by Abegail could see the grooves her fingers had encountered. There were small pictures carved in the rocks. Pictures of warriors, a great battle and two races who seemed to be in a war. "Seems ta be the story we are trackin' aye?"

Abegail was a bit more apprehensive. "Aye, three sets of tracks. Do any of them come back? Keep in mind that if ye take off yer on yer own for anythin' ye come across. How many down each Indy? More than one aye? Seems like bad odds ta me." Abegail turned her back on the group. She didn't know what to do. never one to bend herself to a man's will, Abegail found herself wishing one of the men would take charge. Breathing in deeply Abegail huffed and set her jaw. "We start in the first one, head in a tad and see if there is a sign of what is ahead, more pictures, anythin'" Abegail stared at her three companions, it they weren't going to make a call she would. "Then we do the same with the other two. If we find somethin' that gives us a clue of what is down them then we go with the new information. If not we keep an eye and ear out for a sign of the people ahead of us."
Abegail walked to stand near the first door, "Does it not bother anyone else that the tracks go in and yet Indy didna mention them comin' back out? I donna want any of us encounterin' them or anythin' else down here alone. I know ye donna know or even believe the stories of the fae but I can tell ye we donna want to cross the paths of them or their followers. There'd be traps to stop curious thieves." Abegail looked at the men. "And if we happen to encounter one of the other creatures, well...we won't be better for it." Abegail looked back down the dark corridor, and shivered, remembering the figures that were in the ring with her. The others hadn't seen them but she had. They had tried to call her to tell. The lean man had walked towards her, intent on taking her hand. Abegail shook her head attempting to erase his image. "I think we should stay together."

The setting changes from United States and Ireland to Ireland (1944)
In front of her, Walter could see the carving she was uncovering. There were two figures. One large and imposing, gigantic. The other was lean, tall and holding something in front of him. Abegail pointed to the lean figure. "That one there, the spear is in his hand." Pointing behind the figure a large rock stood. "The stone, before they destroyed it."
Abegail shook her head. "Another door." She backed up from the wall. A glance into the darkness of the rest of the corridor and Abegail wanted to go. There was something watching her.
The four turned and arriving back into the main cavern turned to the second door. As they walked in Bridget and Indy began making some noise, talking to themselves. brdiget raised her voice a little "Abegail, yer glowin'. Ye too Walter. Yer pocket." Abegail turned to give the young woman a scowl. "What de ye mean I'm glowin'?" Then Abegail saw Indy and Bridget's pockets. They too were glowing. "It's the pieces of the stone." Abegail reached into her pocket and pulled her out. Abegail turned to walk down the second corridor again, frowing at the rock glowing in her hands. In front of her the darkness made a noise. Abegail took a step back from the noise. Just over her shoulder she could feel Walter standing there, "Tell me ye hear that? People? Animal?" her voice a whisper.

It was too late, Bridget and Indy walked into Abegail and the three of them were in the cavern. Looking around, Abegail gasped as she realized they stood in the burial chamber. Bridget smiled and began inspecting the various bodies. Indy too moved around to look. He passed her and that is when Abegail saw Walter's lighter. "Indy? Why do ye have Walter's lighter? Walter, why does Indy..." Abegail turned and looked at Walter. He was not there. "Walter?" Abegail looked back into the darkness. "Walter, what are ye playin' at?" Abegail placed her hands on her hips. "Indy, ye fool. Did ye just leave him in the dark?"
Abegail shook her head, she was angry and a little worried. "Walter, get yer ass in here. Do ye hear me?" Abegail stepped into the darkness again, holding her stone in front of her for light. She walked back to where they are had started. "Walter, donna scare me or I will beat ye." Abby's voice a harsh whisper. "Where the hell was he?"
Abegail stopped suddenly. She could see his back dimly in the faint light of her stone. "Walter, please donna do that. We have to stay together." She reached out to place a hand on his back. Moving to stand with him, Abegail frowned. Walter looked scared and was staring at something. Abegail turned to look where he was looking. Then she saw it the breaks in the wall. "Ifreann na Fola" Abegail swore and grabbed Walter's arm. There were eyes in the darkness ahead of her.
"Back away Walter, come with me..." Abegail tried to back up and pull her friend with her.

Beside her, she heard Walter inhale sharply. Abegail opened her eyes to see two hands reach out and drag the men into the darkness. They were not the hands of those she had seen in the circle. No, they belong to something much bigger, much more grotesque. "Fomorian..." flashed in Abegail's head as she remembered the carving on the wall of the two figures.
As the men's bodies were pulled into the darkness, Walter and Abegail ran towards the chamber. Neither spared a glance to where the officers had disappeared. What was happening to them was too scary to even give a second thought to. Arriving in the burial chamber, Indy and Bridget were blissfully unaware of what had occurred. They were in deep conversation about the bodies. Both turned as Walter and Abegail ran in, faces pale from what they had seen. "We need to go, now...third corridor or another way out but we canna stay here!" Abegail's voice was forceful.

Abegail stood and considered the problem. Corridor or crack, the walls hid things they were not meant to see. Abegail set her jaw, "We take one of the breaks, stay close together this time, no one seperates aye?" Abegail turned and looked into the dark corridor. Closing her eyes briefly she took a deep breath in, "Saints protect us.." Abby whispered before she stepped into the dark, her three companions behind her.
They walked a bit before coming to a crack. Abegail nodded. Walter and Abby stepped in first, Indy and Bridget close behind. Indy barely hid his amusement thinking that the two in front were acting like scared children in a nursery rhyme. Abegail heard his slight chuckle and hissed at him ,"Ye donna know what yer mockin' Indy. Ye may not think their real or the bogey will get ye but there are always things we donna understand." In the darkness Abegail was sure she could feel the presence of others. She grabbed Walter's arm, the feel comforting in the dark. They moved on and towards the final corridor.

Bridget shook her head at Indy's question. She had an inkling that something had spooked them but she chalked it up to them being unused to enclosed spaces and bodies and things.
All four heard the noise. Turning Abegail saw the figure. She paled and gripped Walter's arm, "Tuatha De Dannan" was all Abegail managed to whisper out as the rest stared at the figure.
The figure moved forward a bit more. Bridget's eyes were wide with childlike excitement. Oh she knew the stories but this was just amazing. Stories are stories but here in front of her stood one of the fair folk. Abegail's eyes were wide as well but it wasn't excitement that the Fae man saw in them. She knew him, had seen him in the fairy ring and he had tried to beckon her to join the dance with them. Abegail backed up and against Walter. "What do ye want?" Abegail was addressing the Dannan man. She knew he would not be alone, and if he was it wouldn't be for very long. "Fág dúinn a bheith ..." Bridget turned to Abegail. "No don't you see? If he stays he can help us. We seek the sword. We need to stop others from getting it." Bridget turned to address the man.
Abegail looked at the man as he gazed at the group. The Dannan would not help without payment, the fae never did anything without some sort of reward to themselves. be it food, trinkets, a baby or a human to take back wtih them, the fair folk only did things if there was something in it for them. So Abegail asked him, "Ní bheidh muid ag dul in éineacht leat. Agus ní bheidh tú cúnamh gan ar phraghas ... cad é do praghas?" She held her breath waiting for an answer.

It was dark at times and even with Walter's lighter Abegail found herself feeling the way around on the walls. She no longer cared if someone stumbled onto them, she just wanted to find the sword. Entering the end of the corridor the scholars found themselves in an oddly carved out chamber. A pool of water stood to the right. It wasn't large and had a lip around it. It had carvings and decorations adoring the lip and the wall behind it. "Seems ceremonial..." Bridget moved to investigate the pool. Abegail moved to the other side of the room. There on the wall was pictures and carving of a man, a great warrior with spear, armour, sword and standing near a great stone. In front of him was bodies, the enemy. Abegail tilted her head and looked at the drawing. Is this what would become of them if the nazi's managed to get all the pieces?
Moving her way down the wall, Abegail noticed a carving of a sword. Getting closer she saw that the sword sat in the lap of a woman. She looked sad and the sword seemed to be the cause. Near this carving was one of a man, he lay as if awaiting burial. In the next, the woman is holding her hands out in front of her. To her right is a pool of water. Underneath sits some words.
Coinnigh mé leat chun maireachtáil
I réimsí an bháis cúpla choimeád beo
Tá mé áit a bhfuil sé domhain
Bréag mé go fóill nach féidir, léim
Tá mé do leanúna i bhfianaise,
Ach tá mé dofheicthe ar an oíche
Ag mhéideanna éagsúla le feiceáil agam
Ní bheidh mé dochar duit, nach bhfuil aon eagla
Abegail began talking to herself, translating it odd words. "This is...well it's a riddle." Abegail felt a pang as she realized she didn't have her briefcase and thus no paper or pencil. "Come here...I'll read, Bridget help with the translation and we'll see if we can make some sense of it."
Abegail began to read the words out loud.
"Keep me with you to survive
In the fields of death few keep alive
I'm where it's deep
I lie still, cannot leap
I'm your follower in the light,
Yet I'm invisible in the night
At various sizes I appear
I won't harm you, have no fear"
Abegail thought over the words. Bridget frowned. "I think the second part is talkin' about the water, and she is standin' beside the pool. A clue then?" Abegail frowned. "Maybe?" She continued to look over the words and their meaning as the three others discussed the meanings out loud.

Abegail's hand caressed the carving of the pool. Her head tilted. "The pool on here has the outline of a shadow....it's carved in, but why add dimension to this? Nothing else..."Abegail didn't finish the thought. Turning she ran towards the pool in the room. It almost looked as if she was about to jump in. Instead she went to it's side. Abegail began feeling around the rocks. "Here! I found it!" With great effort Abegail began to move a portion of the wall behind the pool. It was dark but the edges of stairs could be seen. "Shadow, the third part was about shadows. In the shadows of the water." Her cheeks flushed in excitement and a smile touched her lips.
Abegail didn't wait for the others. She stepped into the dark and descended the stairs. She kept a hand on the wall. It was a narrow stairway and damp from the pool of water. The stairs were carved into the rock and the pool seemed to be the decoy for others who would look for the sword. Most would assume that it was in the pool as Bridget had. Others would search for an other body of water in the twisting corridors. Abegail had noticed the small clue carved into the picture. Subtle shadow. Abegail moved slowly, her footing tentative on the slick stone stairs. Down further she went. Reaching the bottom, Abegail saw it. The sword placed on a rock. In the carving the woman no longer had the sword. She must have placed it here after the man had died. Abegail wondered who they were but there was no time for that now.
She very cautiously approached the sword, unsure of how to go about taking it. Something like this one did not just grab. Abegail stared down at it, not daring to breathe.

Abegail turned to look at them, "Aye, it's...Where's Indy?" Abegail frowned. "Dinna tell me he dinna come with you...." Abegail's eyes went wide, "Walter! We have ta find him, what if..." Abegail looked torn. The sword or her friend.
"We have ta find him. We should na be seperated, not in this place." Abegail gestured to the stairs, urging the others back up. She turned to glance at the sword and whispered, "Donna go anywhere..." Abegail was afraid it was just a vision, that they were so close and it was just going to disappear if she turned her back on it. With her jaw set Abegail pushed the others up to find their wayward friend.

Her voice a harsh whisper in the dark, Abegail called for him. "Indy, come out now...ye canna seperate. We donna know what else is in here..." Silently she was cursing the man for wandering off. She stuck close to the others, not wishing to loose any more of their party.
"If ye don't come out now I will throttle ye to an inch of yer life." Abegail attempted to hide her fear behind her anger. "Where is he?"

Bridget kept half an eye on the corridor behind them and half on Abegail as she crouched. Abegail waited for the lighter to illuminate the lump. It could be a person,a body but Abegail couldn't tell for sure. Whispering to Walter, "Do ye think it's Indy?" Her fear was clear in her voice. Abegail bit her lip to stop the potential tears.

"Oh I'll show ye what I think of what ye found, ye bastard. What do ye mean by goin' away from us? I found the sword ye sorry excuse for an archeologist." Abby bit back many other insults as she stood and stalked off to where Indy had called from. She paused only briefly to make sure the others were following. "Do I need to put leashes on all of ye to make sure we stick together? Indy, what did ye think ye were doin'?"
She was mad but she was also extremely relieved and hid it all in her anger. It would do no good for her to let on how scared and nervous she had been.
Behind Bridget raised an eyebrow at Abegail's leash comment. She laughed once and followed.

Abegail approached the sword again. It wasn't a vision, it remained where they had left it earlier. "Now what do I need to take ye? Come on now....I canna just take you can I? It's never that easy...." Abegail bit her lip and a frown furrowed her brow. "Think Abby..." Abegail's mind raced with all the legends that contained swords. In them the sword never simply sat there. No, this was different. No guardian stood by, there was no obvious test, no riddle.
A noise behind her cause Abegail to jump. Fearing it was one of the things she grabbed the hilt of the sword. Turning she held it in front of her, ready to defend herself.

"What will ye do if I just decide to run you through with it?" Abby knew there was no way she'd get to him before one or both guns went off. Her mind raced. "Where is Indy?" That man had disappeared yet again. She wanted to curse him, curse Niclas and curse this entire place. Abegail decided to see how much Niclas knew of Irish legends.
"I canna just hand it over. I am it's owner now. It canna go to another unless I am dead. Will do ye no good to kill them. I canna just give it to you. Ye will incur the wrath of the Dannan if ye try and take it."
Abegail swallowed, fearful he would shoot her in order to get the sword. "I'll make ye a deal. I'll take the sword and come with ye. Do ye know how all the weapons work together? The professor never made it that far with ye did he? Can ye read Gaelic? I donna think ye can. So, ye let them go and I'll come with ye, sword and all."

Abegail looked at the Dannan man "Ye through yerself in with that lot? They have stolen the rest. The spear, the armour and they destroyed most of the stone. Is that what ye want? What price did ye ask from them hmm? What are they promisin' to give to ye? Ye have no idea what they will do to ye once yu give the sword to them."
Abegail raised the sword again. She glanced at Walter and Bridget. Her confidence waivered slightly. They still had guns pointed at them but she couldn't just give the sword up without a fight. Abegail turned her full attention to the Dannan man and Niclas. "Well, have at it. If ye wish to take it then do so...I'll not be handin' it over." Abegail's eyes flashed and if she was wearing clothes of a different time she'd be every bit a Celtic warrior woman, fierce, stubborn and determined.

Abegail remembered what power the sword afforded it's wielder and she knew she had the upper hand for a moment. Stepping closer to her friends, she looked at the Dannan man. In his usually impassive face she saw that he too knew what the sword afforded her. Abegail smirked slightly, "Aye, I know what it gives me. It whispers to me." In her soul she could hear the spirit of the sword talking to her. The Dannan man's eyebrows raised. "Oh aye, I know what it will cost me...." Abegail swallowed. Oh, the sword was making it very clear that there would be a price if she did indeed use it.
"I am prepared to pay if it means my companions leave unharmed. Do not doubt me." Abegail's voice was still calm and almost cold sounding as it echoed off the stone walls. "Now, will you let them go?"

"That does not belong to ye. I am the wielder. Ye have no more claim to it than the Dannan at this point." Abegail's tone was calm, her accent coming back. She was trying to gauge what the creature was going to do now that it had the sword in it's possession. "What do ye intend to do with us now?" Abegail looked up towards the eyes. Her expression questioning. She was beyond fearing any one the things in the cavern. Too much had gone on for her to be afraid now. Abegail was bolstered by her companions presence at her side. Bridget's eyes were wide as the girl absorbed all that hat just occured.

Holding it, careful not to stab anyone or swing the sword Abegail ran. She followed Walter, Bridget and Indy out and up the stairs. She was sure to shove Niclas hard out of the way as she passed him. "Bastard" Abegail hissed at him as she pushed into and then past him.
Footing was treacherous on the stairs and worse for Abby with the sword in her hands. She climbed and entering the upper chamber again the group of scholar's attempted to navigate the corridors out of the mound. Abegail's breath was hard in her chest and it burned her lungs as her legs worked to carry her out. She was afraid at any moment the nazi's would be on their heels. The the four made for the door Bridget's voice rang out ahead, "What are we goin' ta do once we get out? No car remember?"
Abegail kept running behind hoping someone had a plan. "Donna run into the fairy ring on yer way out! We have enough trouble already."

Abegail's hands shook slightly as they held the sword. The adrenaline was pumping through her body. That had all been too close, and too many all at once. It was times like this that she wished she was at home in her mother's kitchen instead of running around the Irish countryside. The sword was almost vibrating in her hands. It wanted her to fight with it, it wanted her to pay the price of it's power. Abegail took a deep breath and ignoring the sword, turned to Bridget and Walter in the back. "Are ye alright? I'm sorry but I couldna just hand it over. Not now, they'd be unstopable."

Bridget raised her eyebrows. "That's quite the drive and it's must more burial mounds. Why there?"
Abegail sighed, "Aye, more mounds but this belongs in the hands of the Dannan woman who originally hid it. The sword tells me the warrior, the one who possessed all the pieces was her love and when he died, the four exacting their payment from him she was left with the sword. She hid it, tucked away, only those in great need of it would dare the depths of the mound. There are Court mounds at Carrowmore. I might have a chance there..." Abegail kept back that the sword was asking her to use it so it could exact a price from her. She held back that it frightened her as much as the surge of power from it thrilled her. Abegail looked at the rest daring them to question her statement about the sword telling her anything.
"Carrowmore is near Sligo. We can find a place to rest there." Abegail turned her attention forward and held onto the sword.

Abegail turned in her seat, her face drawn and pale. She needed sleep, they all did. "Bridget, ye go in ahead of us. Walter would ye mind walkin' in with yer arm around me? We can put the sword between us and hide it as much as we can. Do us no go ta go walking with it just hangin' out." Abegail slid out of the passenger seat. The sword wanted her to use it and it was taking a great deal of willpower to hold it in check. She leaned against the jeep, holding the sword in front of her.
Indy came back with two sets of keys for the rooms. Smiling, he and Bridget headed in slowly in front of Walter and Abegail. Abegail held the sword at her side so Walter could press in close to her. The sword would be between them and a little less obvious. Abegail hoped Indy had paid the innkeeper a little extra to forget he ever saw them. She waited for Walter so the two could walk in together.

The women took turns cleaning themselves up, doing the best they could to brush their hair and then settled in for the night. Abegail never let the sword out of her sight. As she settled into bed the sword was with her. Her hand rested on the blade under the covers. Abegail fell into a restless sleep. Dannan warriors fell in battle, giant Fomorians died under the blade. A woman stood at the edge of the battlefield. These things haunted Abegail's dreams. The entire night Abegail woke often and then tried to go back sleep.
In the morning, Abegail slid out of bed, sword in her hand. Dark circles stood out on pale, freckled skin. Bridget looked at Abegail, "Ye look like a banshee. Did ye na get any sleep?" Abegail shook her head and went to the bathroom. Splashing cold water on her face, Abegail looked in the mirror. She had been sleep deprived before, this was something more. With a sigh, Abegail headed out to sit on the bed. Seeing Bridget was ready, "Ye best head for food. I'll stay here. Hard to move around with the sword and I donna want ta leave it. Bring me back some coffee?"
Bridget nodded and headed out in search of the men and coffee.

"Really now, boys it's not the time. Too early and what not." Abegail took two steps down. Sword in front of her now, not threatening yet. "Step away now and take a breather aye? I have na had my coffee yet and yer makin' far too much noise." The men stopped midpunch, looking at the red headed, sword carrying woman. "Indy, I should ha known when you said there was minor run ins here." She sighed. When Walter looked he could see how tired she was but behind it in her eyes was something else. She wasn't quite herself.
In her hands the sword was calling for action, it wanted the men dead. Abegail was using all her willpower to push the call out of her head. "Can we sit, then boys? A coffee or a pint and figure out what Indy here did?" Abegail was at the bottom of the stairs now, sword at the ready.

The men said that Indy had a past with a shared female and Abegail sighed. "Oh Indy? Really now...I missed my coffee for this?" She shook her head. "He's not worth it, boys." Abegail glared at Indy, a hint of teasing in her eyes. "I'm sure she had nothing good to say about him, trust me. Not worth losing sleep over." Abegail smirked. "I'm buying if ye'd rather a drink."
Abegail stepped to the counter, "I need a bottle of whiskey please and a few glasses." The innkeeper frowned but headed off to grab it for her. When he returned, Abegail balanced the glasses, bottle and sword carefully. She placed it on the table. Sitting, sword resting on her leg. "How 'bout it? A shot before ye beat my traveling companion?"
It was the best Abegail could do, short of stabbing the men and it wasn't worth the swords price for Indy's indiscretion. He'd have to get himself out of this. She poured a decent sized glass for herself and toasted the men, waiting to see if they'd turn down a drink.

Abegail enjoyed her evening immensely, she hadn't had a breather like this in a long time. Even when she first came home she was so busy trying to simply breathe after what she and Walter had been through that she didn't take any time to really enjoy herself. The sword remained propped against her leg as she, the two big men and Indy worked their way through the bottle.
Eventually, the two men bid her a good night. Indy received a solid whack on the back and assurance that he wasn't half bad. Course, should he cross them again...The threat hung in the air as the men retired. Abegail stood, and gently shook Walter. "Time to go to bed." She smiled down at his groggy eyes. "Why did ye not join Bridget? She's a pretty thing." Abegail stepped back, balancing the sword and reached a hand to help Walter up. Abegail's cheeks were flushed from the whiskey and she was smiling more than Walter had ever seen her smile. "Ye two seemed cozy enough."
Abegail waited for Walter to stand and she leaned heavily on his arm. She giggled a bit watching Indy work his way up the stairs. "Indy, ye need ta keep things a tad more discreet aye? We canna have ye beaten ta a pulp in every place we walk inta." She climbed the stairs slowly.

With a sigh, Abegail washed her face and ran her fingers through her hair. She hoped the boys wouldn't have too much trouble in the morning. Picking up the sword again, Abegail turned out the light and slipped back into the room. A look over her companion asleep in the other bed and she crawled into her own bed. Hoping the nightmares would stay away tonight Abby lie in bed, sword at her side and closed her eyes.

Three moved downstairs, finding Bridget at a table. She had an empty plate and a cup of coffee in front of her. With a nod of welcome the others sat with her. The innkeeper brought the other three coffee and some food. The sausages were greasy and the eggs a little runny. Abegail, sword propped against her leg, eyed Walter as she picked up her toast. A smile played on her lips. He definitely seemed a little worse for wear this morning.
"So, we need to head to the mounds this morning." Abegail took a large drink of her coffee.

"Aye, a plan...we need to get to the cementary. Once we get there we need ta find the mound that might lead us ta the Dannan woman. If we give her back the sword then the only way that Niclas can get it is to take it from her. I am na sure it's the best solution but I canna think of what else ta do with it. Worst case we start a war between the Dannan, Formorians and the nazi's in the cementary." Abegail looked down at her plate. She knew it was not only the worst case but a very real possibility. The mounds were strong tie to the mortal and fae realms. Indy and Walter might not fully believe in this yet but from the look on Bridget's face, she too knew that Abby was holding back just how dangerous this could get.
Abegail smiled up at the men, "So aye, we need a vehicle and Walter needs a new head me thinks." She chuckled and took another drink of coffee. The younger woman looked at Abegail. Abby met her eyes and slightly shook her head. Now was not the time.

"Ye canna say anythin' right now. War between them is a very real thing, I know but if we can draw Niclas to us with the other pieces then maybe while they are all fightin' we can steal the rest and hide them or destroy them."
Bridget frowned at the idea of destroying the spear, armour and what was left of the stone. "I donna like it bu I donna see what else we can do but go to the mounds and see what happens." Bridget pushed her plate away. "Can I ask ye somethin'?"
Abegail looked at the younger woman. "Aye." She was wary now, as she saw the look on the younger woman's face. Bridget leaned on the table, "Ye look like death warmed over. I can see it even if they won't say nothin' ta ye. Are you alright? It's the sword isn't it?"
Abegail sat a little straighter, then cast her eyes to the table. "Aye. It's takin' a lot of my willpower ta keep the thing from making me attack someone. If I hurt someone it will drain more of me until by the end of a fight there might not be anythin' left. For a warrior, the sword's effects would take many battles but I'm not a warrior. I'll be fine, we just need ta get this thing to the mounds and keep it out of Niclas' hands."
Abegail went back to her coffee and Bridget couldn't say anything more as Walter rejoined them at the table. The three took care of the inn bill and met Indy outside. Climbing in the four headed to the cementary and the mounds.

Frankly, Abegail wasn't sure if any of this was even going to work. She was tired. The sword was draining her energy and taking all her willpower. Her face had gotten paler on the ride and while her spirit was happy and relaxed, Abegail was begining to look drawn. She walked to stand by Walter. Without realizing it she leaned heavily on his arm.
"Alright, we need to find a way to get them out of the tent so we can have at the other pieces, assumin' he brought them. We need to find a mound with access to the Dannan and hope to hell that if we can call her forth she is willin' to help unlike the male..." Walter could feel that right now, he was the only thing keeping Abegail's legs from giving out.
Abegail took a deep breath, "The sword knows...it senses a fight comin'" With that Abegail stood, relieving Walter of her weight and walked quietly closer to the nearest mound. "So what are we gonna do ta get them to go away from the tent? We need them chasin' somethin' through the mounds or at least on the grounds. Unless we have another idea, preferably one that does na involve driving our vehicle into their tent." Abegail smiled at Indy.

Abegail pondered the idea for a moment. "We will have to be careful, there is a chance that there are others in the mounds as well and not just soldiers. What are ye thinkin' Walter? Head in one and see if we can get into the big one? Niclas is obviously interested in it and that canna be a good thing."
Abegail sighed and tried to stand taller. A weak smile crossed her face. Bridget didn't know the woman well but she was struck at how much Abegail seemed to have lost some of her fire that she had when they started. Indy glanced at Walter. The two men knew that something was no right with Abby. The red head was stubborn, out spoken, quick to act and at times a force to be reckoned with. The Abegail in front of them looked tired and was quiet. Indy moved over to Walter. Abegail was looking over to the tents, an eye on Niclas.
Indy leaned over to Walter, "You see that right? Abbs isn't right. She looks like she might collapse on us. We shouldn't have brought her along." As Walter answered Indy, Abegail turned back to look at him, wondering why she hadn't received an answer yet and found both men staring at her and Bridget casting her eyes down, as if guilty of something.
Abegail frowned, "What are ye starin' at?" Her voice contained a bit of the Irish temper but no where near her normal.

Abegail leaned against the mound and slid till she was sitting on the ground, the sword leaning against her shoulder. They would wait until dark. She didn't suggest being the distraction knowing that if she even attempted to the sword would win and she'd likely kill someone. Abegail closed her eyes and rested her head back on the grass of the mound. "What are ye thinkin' for a distraction?"

Abegail had followed her gut. Everything told her to turn to the right and walk. So, she did. She walked, and walked. The corridors twisted and turned. About half way she realized Bridget and the others were no longer with her. The walls became damp and Abegail stopped for a moment. Looking around she gauged the distance to be close to where the large mound was. She was correct as she stepped out of a crevice n the wall into another corridor. To her left sat the large main chamber of the mound. Abegail shook her head. What she needed was not there. Right again. The smaller corridor became darker and Abegail's heart pounded in her chest.
A soft voice called to her in Gaelic. Abegail followed the voice.
As Walter and Bridget made their way from the small mound into the large mound there was no sign of Abegail, save the occsasional footprint in the dirt. Indy's distraction outside managed to give Walter and Bridget enough time to find the adjoining corridor and turning to their left found themselves in the centre and main chamber of the large mound. The walls had carving and paintings depicting the Dannan and some of their finest warriors.
Meanwhile, Abegail found the woman. She sat on a stone bench, her beauty could only be called ethereal. Abegail moved to sit with her and the two sat and talked as if chatting over tea and not discussing the fate of mankind.

As Abegail carefully answered, Indy was fighting the soldier. Bridget and Walter came in the chamber, finding Niclas had set up the other pieces. No one guarded it, as Walter had assumed Niclas had sealed the mound. When he procurred the sword, he would come down here, don the pieces and become the warrior. Nothing would stop him at that point. There in front of them lay the armour, the spear and a few large pieces of the stone. As the two stepped into the room, the tall and slim Dannan man stepped out from some unknown shadows.
His dark eyes looked at them, as if questioning what they would do next.
In another mound, a distance back in the cementary another stirred. This one was giant and grotesque. The Formorian knew all the pieces had come together. He did not know if the Dannan planned to wipe them out now in their entirity or if another event was occuring but he did know that he could not allow the warrior to be born again. It would be death for all who lay in his path. And so he stood and made his way to the Dannan mound, ready to defend his people if need be.
Abegail and the woman had come to some sort of understanding. The two stood and Abegail, sword still in hand followed her into the darkness.

Bridget whispered to Walter, "What are we gonna do?" Her eyes never left the Dannan man. "We need to remove all the pieces I think. Destroy them?" The faint booming noise that she thought she was imagining was very real and getting louder.
Meanwhile, time stood still for Abegail. Carrying the sword she followed the ethereal woman. The woman was telling her of the battle that took the original warrior of Erin. Abegail came to understand that if one piece was utterly destroyed then the rest could not be joined together. Out of all the pieces, the sword was the most powerful, for even without the rest it was capable of making the wielder faster and stronger then any warrior. It would need to be destroyed. The woman told Abegail that as the current posessor of the sword only she could destroy it.
The two women stopped in a dark room. In front of Abegail stood a large mirror. In the reflection she didn't see herself but her companions in the main chamber. Walter and Bridget stood together. Bridget was holding a few pieces of the stone. The Dannan man was with them and Abegail could see the giant figure that was stepping out of the darkness behind them. At the entrance of the room, soldiers began coming in, weapons drawn and behind them stood Niclas.
Abegail looked at the woman for a moment. The woman had explained what was needed to destroy the sword, now Abegail just had to watch for the right moment. She held her breath and watched in the mirror again.

The hostility between the two ancient races was long and standing and the Nazi's hatred for those who they deemed undesirable and different, came to the boiling point within that relatively small space. Sensing this Walter grabbed Bridget by the upper arm and dragged her off to the right side of the cavern, enabling the aggressors to freely battle one another. Niclas himself had quickly assessed the situation, seeing the two scholars back off he too would separate himself from the scene, backing away from the three SS officers and vanishing into the darkness of the tunnel. The silence of the emotionally charged situation broke when the Formorian poked its head from the shadows and into sight of the SS officers, its grotesque features and barbarous war cry frightened them into firing their weapons prematurely. Walter, Bridget and even Niclas were astonished and horrified by what came as a result of this call to battle. They would be the first to witness the class between the old ways of legend and the modern machine age.
The Formorian was much too massive to be agile and although it was a thing of lore and magic, it was not protected from the mechanical wizardry known as munitions. Even though they feared the beastly thing now laying bloodied and dying upon the cold and hard cavern floor, Walter and Bridget felt immense sympathy for its death. No sooner had the creature hit the ground, the Dannan man shot into action. With a speed incomprehensible to the sight and senses of human experience, it produced two long thin blades which it then used to sever the hands of the SS officers. Owing to their magical origins the cuts from the two blades were clean and instantaneously cauterized, with no blood loss whatsoever.

Bending, Abegail dipped her hand in the Formorian's blood. "The blood of the enemy" She wrapped the hand around the hilt of the sword, the blood making it slick. "On the weapon of our warrior, wielded by a child of Erin....to kill one of our own."
With that statement on her lips Abegail took one step closer to the Dannan man. In that moment she allowed the sword's power free reign. Abegail's eyes flashed as the blade came out at the man. He turned to look at her as the blade pierced his body. He reaction was slow as the red-haired woman sunk the blade deep. Pulling it out quickly, Abegail spun and bringing the blade around it bit deep into his body.
Walter and Bridget could see that it was the sword had control now, giving Abegail the ability to fight. The Dannan man slumped to the ground.
Abegail stood over him, chest heaving as she struggled to breathe. In her hands, the blood of the Dannan man ran on the sword mixing with the blood of the Formorian. The sword began to crumble, turning to dust.
As the blade fell away Abegail felt the last pull of the sword as it exacted it price from her. Walter and Bridget watched as Abegail's knees gave out and she dropped to the ground. Beside him, Walter could hear Bridget stifle a cry. Her hands were at her mouth.
The moans of the soldiers, not quite dead were the only sounds in the mound. Bridget looked at Walter, clearly she wanted to move to where Abegail lie but she was too scared to. "Is she...?" Her wide eyes looked at him.

The girl turned to look but it was too late. Niclas fired and Bridget made a noise as she hit the ground behind Walter. Abegail was jolted by the shot and the girl falling. "No! No!" Abegail mind was yelling even as no sound would issue from her mouth. She crawled to where Brdget lay. She rolled the girl and found the gunshot. "Stop him, get help...do something." Abegail's voice was hoarse as she pressed on the wound. Blood seeped from under her hands.
Niclas was an excellent shot. Abegail's eyes were blurred with tears as she desperately tried to ignore the slowing of the heartbeat under her hands. "No, Bridget...someone...." Her tears fell as she held the wound tightly.

Abegail followed, slowly, wiping her eyes as she moved. Behind her the bodies of the Dannan man and the Formorian giant crumbled into nothingness much like the sword had. Abegail looked around. "Where's Walter?" Her voice was fearful as she realized the other man was not with them.
Indy cleared his throat, "He's gone to take care of that nazi." Abegail shook her head, "Alone? Niclas will kill him..." She couldn't get past Indy as he carried the body in his arms. Abegail herself was close to collapsing, her body exhausted from carrying the sword for so long and the reprecussions of using it. Indy exited the mound and stepped foot on the grass of the cementary.
There had been no sign of Walter in the dark corridor, no sound of gunshots yet. Abegail stepped out. Dusk was beginning to fall, the sun setting in the distance. Indy lay Bridget's body down on the grass and turned to look at Abegail. "Are you hurt at all?" Abegail waved him away as she scanned the cementary for Walter or Niclas. As she turned that is when Indy saw it. A streak of white hair now ran through Abby's red locks. One streak down the middle of the left side of her head.
Indy frowned but didn't say anything. He too began looking for some sign of the other scholar. Abegail's voice was angry, her worry hidden behind it, "Damn him, does he have na sense at all?"

The previous day, Bridget's body had been sent back there to her parents. The next day would be the funeral for the young woman. That evening Abegail, still not looking quite herself and Indy sat in the cleaned up and repaired home of Abegail's parents. The mood was quiet and somber as the two sat in the sitting room, sipping tea. Neither could bring themselves to speak aloud their fear for Walter.
The next morning, the clouds refused to fully part and allow the struggling sun to break through as if they knew no one in the little town wanted to bask in it's warmth. Abegail's parents and most of the town gathered in the small community cementary. A simple casket sat next to the open grave, flowers adorning it's cover. To the back and on the right hand side, where they could clearly see the coffin and simple gravestone, Abegail and Indy stood. Indy was holding Abegail's hand as the two watched the mourners speak about the vibrant, stubborn woman.
Tears dropped from Abegail's eyes. Bridget was gone, shot by a man Abby hated. A man who on more than one occassion almost ended her life. She barely knew the girl but for the short time she had, she liked her. Abegail's tears were also for Walter. They had a shaky start that first meeting at Marshall. It seemed so long ago now. Walter and Abegail had been through quite a bit togehter and now he was gone. Not a trace or word from him in days. Abegail mourned both her friends.
By the grave, they were slowly lowering the coffin into the ground. There were women openly weeping. Abegail shivered and Indy wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "It will be all right Abby." He did his best to sound comforting. Abegail nodded. The pair waited until most of the others had bid farewell to the woman and left the cementary. They made their way to stand at the edge of the grave. Abegail looked down at the coffin.
"Oh Bridget, I'm so sorry. It should have been me he shot. He had no business..." Abegail's words choked in her throat.
