It was their first time in Gambit's bar, and most likely it would not be their last.

Three representatives from the planet Aberash, filled with the zeal and spirit for competition, had entered, one with a reputation that equaled his massive bulk, named Bao Quyen, another that had a pride swollen larger then his scrawny build, Nikodemus Van, and the third with a beauty that matched her grace, Tien.

The woman was at the head of her company, wearing a modest black knit dress that came below her knees, and a pair of boots that covered her ankles. Silver hair spilled down her back in a braid. The bulky man was right behind her, forced to duck for his massive height, twice that of the young woman he guarded. The third was the young man, who wore light silk pants and a matching silk button down. His hair was put up in a long black ponytail. He had a sword at his side.

Seeing as he was completely ignored by the lad who he had tried to shake hands with last, Lucid, the young warrior scoffed, but then moved over to the old man and Katy.

"Space travel? That's fine! We'll...figure something out with a portal or something. It's an all expense paid trip! Even if you want to watch. Uh-" He looked over to the old man, frowning. "I don't..."

Before he could finish, the young woman with silver hair had already moved over to the older man, gesturing to a chair. "Is it alright if I sit with you? I can pay for a meal and something to drink if you'll just spare me a conversation."

The smile she gave him with those rose-red lips was nothing short of charming.

Meanwhile, Nikodemus centered his attention on Katy. "So...whaddya say?"

Tien had already taken a seat beside the old man, a hand coming to his shoulder with concern as he began to cough. "You're not doing so well. Is there anything I might be able to do for you?" she asked. "Perhaps there is a hospital in this city. There must be."

"Why, yes," said Tien, another smile coming to her face, bright. "What is it they say about the elderly? Old bones, unaging enthusiasm? Something along those lines. What is it you would li-" She paused, hearing the shouts from outside.

Nikodemus looked outside, frowning. He exchanged glances with Tien. "Do you understand any of that?" he asked her.

"I'm NeoViet, not Japanese. I don't know a word." she replied. She caught Bao's eye, and he nodded, but did nothing.

"Ah...fine, fine," said Nikodemus. He rolled his shoulders back. "Ah...sounds like a parade. Hey, do you guys-" He gestured to Katy and Luci-

"HOLY SH- what the hell was THAT!?" he screeched as Katy...well...coughed fire. Seriously, who did that? "A-are you okay? Um..."

Tien, Bao, and Nikodemus took a long time to stare out of the window. They heard the gunfire, and went very quiet.

"...this is quite different," began Tien, "Than the peaceful nights in my city of Vien. We do not fight one another on Aberash, only the Gargantua. That, in the very least, is something you would be able to look forward to if you visit. Now, sir, what is it that you wanted?"

Nikodemus cleared his throat and frowned. He wasn't used to that kind of thing- sentient species waging war against their own. It made him uncomfortable.

"Well...on another note..." Nikodemus began. He looked up at Katy and scratched the back of his head. His eyes grew at the sight of the Lung dragon.

"...Sweet Gargantua, indeed. That looks like a cousin to Lac Long Quan!"

"Of course," said Tien, placing in an order onto the touch-screen menus. "I don't mind so much that it is not busy now. There are many more days to come and recruit. I only arrived today, and was, perhaps, a bit anxious to look around." She narrowed her eyes, again in concern, as the man coughed, but he seemed alright.

"A Gargantua? Well, yes, monsters, but not senseless and horrible. They're the creatures we give worship to in our culture. They fuel our cities, and give the planet life. I-"

She was cut short as a man ran in and began, quite brutally, murdering someone else. The woman's mouth fell agape, a hand covering her lips to try and hide her shock.

Nikodemus and Bao quickly came to the woman's side, unbelieving of the scene that unfolded before them.

Not once did Tien rip her eyes away from the scene, but not once did she order her men to defend those who were slaughtered.

She was not allowed to interfere, she thought. And it all happened so quickly...so...

"...I think it is time for me to go." she said, standing up. "Come with me, sir. So you won't get hurt."

Tien offered her arm for him to take as her company lead them out toward the door. "Don't worry for the bullets. They will not hit us." she informed him. Not because of chance, or hope, or luck. No, the Silver Queen wasn't an idiot. She knew better.

A distinct glow came from somewhere in the ruins. There was a loud, "A-HAH!" from someone with a voice like a gong, and then there was silence.

If the group made their way through a few broken pillars and walls, they would come upon a young woman with silvery hair, and a large, bulky man twice her height.

The woman was dressed lavishly in a blue dress that only just touched the ground at her feet. A silver headband kept her bangs out of her eyes.

"Ah. Welcome. I see Nikodemus and Lucian were successful in recruiting a few competitors."

The woman's rose red lips pulled into a tiny smile.

"Welcome. My name is Tien. I am the Silver Queen. We start very shortly after a stroll in Zahn Street. I'd like the crowd to get familiar with their heroes before you go into the arena. Are you all ready? I hope you are." she said to them, hands clasping together at her waist.

"I would like your names. This man beside me is Bao Quyen. He is my bodyguard, and owner of the Hangover. Don't worry, he doesn't bite."

Bao nodded at them, but otherwise kept still and silent.

"It can be killed, and the hide will be yours. I don't know if you have been told, either. There are going to be very many Gargantuan. There isn't one battle; there are many. For each Gargantuan you slay, you will gain points. You must have a certain amount of points to unlock higher level Gargantuan. They are not breathing creatures made of flesh and bone, either. They have a Core, made of energy. That Core allows them to manipulate their environment. Strike the Core, and the fight will be over."

She prepared to go through the portal.

"Well, Crofton Adcock, Diego Casdosa, Sin, Relic. I am glad to have you. There are many more competitors in this competition from my city, so don't think you will be missing out. The Hunt will span a month, if you wish to follow through. There will be days where you might not be hunting at all. Today is simply the...Opening Ceremony."

She looked out into the portal, then back at her competitors. "Good luck to you all. Give everyone a good show."

She paused as Artis came into the picture. "Ah! Another. Hurry, we should get going, warrior. Come with me through the portal."

With that, she disappeared through the entrance, Bao staying behind for everyone.

Entering the Arena through the portal, the competitors would find their ears filled with the roar of a crowd.

There were hundreds- no, thousands- of people in the stands around them. The stands were completely filled, from even the closest seats, to the top. Left and right. Flags attached to long poles at the top of the vast crowd stands flapped in the wind, silver and blue.

There was a long, raised pathway in front of them that lead to a small stage. One of them lead out of the Preparation room, where more competitors began to rush out, alongside those in the portal. There were at least twenty more of them, one of them a large Minotaur.

"Welcome!" said Tien, once she came atop the small stage, where all the competitors would gather behind her. The crowd quieted a bit, everyone awaiting the words of the Silver Queen.

"Thank you all for coming! Coming to the annual Gargantuan Hunt!" she announced, voice booming across the arena thanks to a small microphone clipped to the top of her dress. "Here you have our fighters, some well known, others alien to you."

She began to list the fighters, all thirty of them, to the crowd. "We shall be joined by more as the week goes by, but I am sated with the group we have here. Are you?"

Another roar, another jubilant cheer. Horns went off, and a thrall of other instruments. Tien laughed, then turned to the fighters.

"I will be on the Silver Stage. You all will move to the Preparation room to be briefed about today's Gargantuan, get prepared with the weapons you need, and the armor, then you will fight."

Little did the boy know that a pair of eyes were staring at him from the entrance.

The woman they belonged to was leaning against the door, and was incredibly silent. It was as if she didn't even exist, in a way. It was only after the dummy was attacked that she smiled, then rose her hands to clap for the boy slowly, but impressively.

"That's quite impressive. Are you very skilled with that blade, and the art of battle?" she asked, voice as smooth as honey.

"Oh, well, it's of no...gargantuan importance." said the woman, a tiny smile on her rose red lips. She was dressed nicely for spring, in a black, warm knit dress that came to her knees and clung to her body. She wore boots that were high enough to disappear beneath the modest outfit.

"Though, wasting all that training on a wooden dummy seems a bit...boring, don't you think?"

"You'd be surprised!" the woman said with a laugh. "It's warmer than it looks. Turtleneck and sleeves, the whole ordeal." She walked up to Agnimitra, hands at her sides.

"You might also like to find out that...yes. Monsters are roaming around waiting to be fought. To be killed. Do you like bullfighting? Because I have something...much better, and much less gory. Bulls are rather alright animals when you don't anger them, after all. Gargantuan monsters, however..."

"Well, for obvious reasons," commented the young woman. Her arms folded over her chest. "The Gargantua are...well, without saying, large monsters. On my planet, Aberash, there's a competition being held to fight these monsters. Like bullfighting, except it's alright to have no mercy for these guys. And they're much bigger. Forty feet or taller. Come in all different shapes and forms. How does that sound to you, do you think?" Tien asked, leaning forward with an eyebrow raised.

"That catch your fancy?"

"That's great! How soon do you think you can make the trip?" she asked him, eyes growing bright. "It's no money for the trip, and boarding is free for competitors." she explained. "And, well, you'll need to sign a Release of Liability form before anything happens. But don't worry! If you get hurt badly enough, we usher you out and try to save your life best we can. You just have to understand that we're not gods." She grinned so wide at that.

"I can give you a much more detailed explanation if you'd like, as well."

"Field trips...? Well, perhaps!" she chirped, clasping her hands behind her back. "If this is a fighting school, we might have more to teach you. We have veterans from old battles you can speak with. They might be able to give you tips." she told him.

"So, brave young man, if you could tell me your name, we can be on our way. That is...if it's alright with your parents, as well. My name is Tien. You can tell them that."

"Of course you are," said Tien quickly. She did not seem phased by her outburst. "I knew it all along. I just wanted to make sure you knew."

A quick save. Hopefully the kid would take it.

"No parents? Ah...I see. And you don't mind following a nice stranger to a place lightyears away, hm?" she laughed. "Well, there might be hope for you yet. Let's hope you don't perish quickly in the Hunt. You look like you could become a valuable fighter in the future."

"You've...got a lot of spunk, kid," said Tien, nodding. "Alright, let's get going, then, shall we? The second round will be starting tomorrow. You'll have just enough time to prep and get used to the city of Vien. My city." she told Agnimitra.

She began to walk out of the Dojo, looking back over her shoulder for the young girl.

"Lots of other warriors. Most of them men. All of them human except for a Minotaur, so far. But more warriors shall join as the week goes by. It will be wonderful." she explained. "There will be some fights you will fight alone. Others will be in groups. Some battles, you will be able to choose. Some you will not."

So many questions, but Tien was happy to answer them all.

"Vien? Oh, it's a beautiful city. There is a large statue in the middle of it, representing Lac Long Quan, the Gargantuan that keeps the city alive. There are endless shops and lovely people, all very excited about the Hunt. There's also a gorgeous place there, called the Silver Palace, where the Silver Queen lives."

"Oh, I've heard she is." said Tien fondly. "And you're quite right. You better make a good name for us out there. I'd participate alongside you, but I'm afraid I'm not allowed to fight this year. But I have faith."

"Isn't it, though?" said Lucian, beaming at the extravagance of the castle around them. "I'd say it's even more impressive than the Karyuse castle. The one I'm from. That's a stretch, too."

He lead her up one row of stairs, his armor clinking on the hard, marble-like surface with swirling patterns set in its design.

Meeting them at the top of the stairs, on the inside balcony, was the Queen.

Like her name, her hair draped over one shoulder in a thin, silver braid. The dress she wore contrasted with it greatly- a dark blue, hugging her figure, falling to the floor in layers from the lacy bodice. She gave a smile to Obsidian with red, red lips.

"Who's this, Lucian?" she asked, gesturing to the young lady with one hand.

"Another fighter! You'd be happy to know that, right? The first female competitor of the year."

The woman looked pleased, smile growing broader. "Oh, really? Well, welcome. We're glad to have you. My name is Tien. Your own?"

Following behind Lucian, she took one last look at the entryway and frowned a little. She really didn't want to leave the prettiness of it. Shifting her gaze up the stairs, she found herself staring at a beautiful woman that matched the castle perfectly. Blinking, the warrior quickly realized she was staring and shifted her gaze down towards the ground. Lucian seemed a little too excited that she was willing to fight, and Obsidian started to say that she changed her mind, but decided just to see where this lead.

"Pleased to meet you, Tien. I'm Obsidian Fyre."
