You don’t get to be a quarterback in the NFL without being ambitious. It has to be in your soul and on your mind 24/7. Ever since he first saw football on tv, he had known what he wanted to do. He had worked his ass off to get there too. Saying no to most things people his age were saying yes to. A lot of things in his life had to move for his dream, and seeing his friends in the past 7 years just hadn’t had the priority it should have deserved.
Over the years of his ongoing success his amount of supporters grew as well. It became increasingly rare to go to places where he wasn’t recognised. This was not something he had expected. Since his job requires a helmet, he thought he could be go mostly unnoticed. But TV and paparazzi had changed his life. With all the attention and some people almost worshipping him, it would be hard for anyone to stay humble. Jeremiah hadn’t been able to do it, and has become quite arrogant in the process, even more so than he had been in school already.
Jeremiah always had kind of a charming personality. His flashy and cheeky smile got him out of trouble more times than he could count. His mom had always described him as a naughty child, but he was never really caught or blamed for anything. Even now, with press conferences and interviews, he would have the press on his side in a minute. Together with his arrogance this made him careless over the years and it was inevitable that something bad would happen sooner or later.
He had always been an impulsive person. He rarely thought of the consequences of his own actions as he was doing it. The realisation he made a mistake or could have made a mistake always came later. It was part of his strength on the field. He was able to go with different plays in the last minute, not always plays that were discussed with the coach or even his teammates. A lot of his teammates had learned to anticipate these rash decisions and had become better players for it. The coaches were not always happy to be passed up here, but a lot of the last minute impulsive decisions had worked out for the best.
Sleeping with Casey so close after breaking up with Diana had also been an impulsive decision, this being one he really regretted.

|Happiest Memory|
Being the third pick in the first round of the NFL Draft. It was an amazing thing to be part of it all, and then to be picked that early was just an amazing feeling. Jeremiah could name all the stats of all players who were ever picked as number 3 and there are some amazing names. He was so full of excitement and dreams that he would never forget that moment.
|Saddest Memory|
Losing the Super Bowl game in the previous season. This is what he had worked for all his life. And to be so close, seeing the trophy and then not being able to lift it at the end of the game, is heartbreaking. A lot of people have told him appearing in the Super Bowl is already an amazing achievement, but these people have no clue what it’s like to be a professional athlete. The feeling afterwards in the locker room is just unbearable. You can still hear the noises from the other locker room and their partying depressed Jeremiah even more.

{”It’s told…, you won’t find it on my wikipedia entry though.” }

In school Jeremiah was never really a great student. He did not have a long attention span and found it hard to sit still for long periods of time. He was bullied with not having a father and with his mom being single and poor. He was never able to just ignore them and he did not have the patience to deal with them. It would often turn into a fight and he got into quite a few scraps. He would never tell his mom why he got into a fight, because he did not want her to feel guilty about it. He always thought of his mom as an angel, and many people who actually knew her would agree.

Jeremiah would think about different ways to impress her, but all of it seemed cheesy to him. All of the things that might work on other girls, but not on Diana. Without much reason or explanation they grew closer together automatically, like magnets. Their relationship was often questioned by the kids as well as the adults in town, some having issues with their difference in social standing. Between the two of them, this never showed.
As the star of the football team, there were a lot of ‘pretend friends’. Jeremiah could see through most of that and was happy that the 8 of them found their own comfort group. Their differences were probably a big reason why they were such a good mix of people. They sometimes got into trouble, but were mostly able to keep out of it. The principal had taken a particular liking to him as a sort of mascot to the school, so Jeremiah could get away with pretty much anything in those days. In their final year he made the ‘Bluffton Bobcats’ state champions and a few universities had been looking to offer him a scholarship. Looking at the Hawk financial situation this had also been the only option for him to go to university.

Mere weeks later he had still been upset when he ran into Casey. They had been friends for years and both could offer the other a listening ear. Anger, a longing for affection and alcohol had been the ingredients for them sleeping together. Both of them knew it had been a mistake by the time they woke up the next morning. Casey had left and the contact between the two had been very little since. Of course they would speak on group emails, or send a message when something special had happened, but every message and mail between them was overloaded with uncomfortableness. After that little adventure Jeremiah had felt to guilty to even try and make things up between him and Diana.
It was much easier to focus on football. Aside from the bad results he saw from his effort on training, there were good ones too. He was picked as starting player in his second year and didn’t give up this position for the rest of his time there. He received a reputation for his sharp insight, and his quick effective plays.

With life and work in LA he also received a lot of media attention. Paparazzi would follow him in the streets, after training and even in the bushes in front of his house. He was usually able to turn interviews and press briefings his way with flashing a smile and some quick thinking. His positive rating in the media actually gave more options for product endorsements and lifted the profile of the entire team. After reaching the play offs in his rookie year his agent had advised he was in contact with an agent for an up and coming actress. They suggested a ‘fake’ relationship between the two to gain more media attention for both of them. Jeremiah agreed to the deal and started dating her. Although they got along fine, both of them were too busy for it to turn into anything real. They became more friends than anything else and found little time to spend with each other to keep up the charade. As it was well captured in the media it had reached it desired effect. They both decided to cut it off after about 6 months, announcing to the media they had separated amicably. Even afterwards he stayed in contact with her, and although he not one moment had felt any love, she is now a good friend. In his second year it seems all the lines were aligned for Jeremiah. Aside from the positive media, his game had been on fire. Setting club records along the way, they found themselves in the Super Bowl. The 3rd time in the clubs history, even though they never won it before. This time they did not do better, losing the most important game in the season.

{”Talking only me and you.” }
If I told you things I did before
Told you how I used to be
Would you go along with someone like me?
If you knew my story word for word
Had all of my history
Would you go along with someone like me?
I did before and had my share
It didn't lead nowhere
I would go along with someone like you
It doesn't matter what you did
Who you were hanging with
We could stick around and see this night through
And we don't care about the young folk
Talkin' 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talkin' 'bout the old style too
And we don't care about their own faults
Talkin' 'bout our own style
All we care 'bout is talking
Talking only me and you
Usually when things has gone this far
People tend to disappear
No one will surprise me unless you do
I can tell there's something goin' on
Hours seems to disappear
Everyone is leaving I'm still with you
It doesn't matter what we do
Where we are going to
We can stick around and see this night through
And we don't care about the young folk
Talkin' 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talkin' 'bout the old style too
And we don't care about their own faults
Talkin' 'bout our own style
All we care 'bout is talking
Talking only me and you
And we don't care about the young folk
Talkin' 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talkin' 'bout the old style too
And we don't care about their own faults
Talkin' 'bout our own style
All we care 'bout is talking
Talking only me and you
Talking only me and you
Talking only me and you
Talking only me and you
