Keeper of the Clock

"Time's up..."

0 · 382 views · located in Curio City, The Abyss

a character in “Abyss”, as played by ReaperGirl4

Description

Sometimes referred to as the Will of the Abyss, the Keeper of the Clocks resides in a completely different part of her sister, the Keeper of the Door's, mansion. This is what she refers to as her "lair". She spends most of her time in a massive room. The walls are covered with clocks, each one unique. No two are the same. When a clock rings out, she knows that one of the contractors' time is up. Her main duty is to summon the contactors back to the Abyss when their contract is up. Oftentimes, she'll keep one as a doll. Most often, she turns them into demon creatures to wallow in the despair of the Abyss for eternity. The Keeper has the ability to summon legions of demons at will, this being another one of her powers. Being the Controller of the Abyss, she can pop in on the Contracters and Creatures whenever she damn well feels like it! (XD) Despite her powers and such, she prefers mainly sitting in her room, observing the clocks and examining her dolls, who are the old Contracters whose contracts expired. But every once in a while, she'll visit a Contractor... but only one she really takes a liking to. This is most definitely a good thing.

As for her personality, although she appears to be evil and cruel, she's actually very soft-hearted and enjoys some fun. She loves fancy things, as well as adorable things (hence the doll collection). She has a soft spot for animals, and whenever she turns a Contractor into a demon creature they are mostly designed like animals. Since she hardly ever leaves her room and everyone fears her, she doesn't have many friends, except for her sister.

The Keeper of the Clocks has two creatures:

Cheshire

Image

Personality- Hyper active, a tad bit... creepy, loyal to the death to the Keeper of the Clocks, one of her closest companions, almost never leaves her side

Second form- One of the Keeper's necklaces

Nymph of the Seal

Image

Personality- The absolute epitome of all that is hateful, spiteful, cruel, and evil, she marks the Contractors once they form a contract with a creature

Second form- One of the Keeper's canine teeth; she emerges as a shadow when summoned, then takes her true form

So begins...

The Keeper sips her Saki, and watches the group. The Prince sits next to her and lazily stabs a piece of cake with his fork, cramming the whole thing in his mouth before pulling a lollipop out of his pocket and popping it into his mouth. He holds his cup by the rim daintily from his fingertips and glances over at the Keeper. She nods back at him, and their silent conversation ends as quickly as it began. She rises and leaves the room without saying a word and passes down the hall and through a black door with a golden knob. As she passes through her body disappears into pure darkness and the door swings shut and disappears behind her.
She decends down further and further into the darkness until she reaches a beautifully carved door embedded with jewels and glass. She reaches out to grasp the door knocker that is in the shape of a cat and taps it 3 hard times, "Bong...Bong...Bong..."
She calls through the door, "Sister, it's me. It's time for tea."

The Keeper of the Clocks adjusted the hair of one of her dolls. Its dark locks had fallen out of place. She hated when that happened. Ruined the whole image of the thing. Cheshire was hanging over her shoulder, it's gray tail wiggling about.

When she heard her sister's voice and the loud knocks, she smiled. The Keeper took Cheshire down from her shoulder and set him on the floor. The comical cat scampered off. It didn't like morphing into its second form unless absolutely necessary. The Keeper crossed the large room to the massive, elaborately decorated door. She pulled it open and smiled warmly at her sister.

"Ah, hello, sister! Tea time you say?"

She walks in and kisses her sister once on each cheek, "Yes, it is time for tea."
She smiles and reaches out to pet Cheshire. The girls walk through a hall filled with clocks, Pendulums swing out of rhythm making the wall look busy. "I see you have chosen your contractor, gifted him with a third walk on the earth and his second creature. What do you see in him...what makes this one different? Do you trust him with such power?"

"Hmm..." She twirled about the hall, pleased with how the heels of her shoes clacked on the tile in time with the countless clocks' ticks and tocks. She stopped in front of an ornate table, already prepared with a fine tea set. Cheshire was filling up the cups, standing on two chibi-like paws. One of its many talents.

"Let's just say, sister," she began. "I like him. I don't know why, but..." the Keeper of the Clocks shrugged. "I just don't want him dead. I'm pretty sure he looks better alive and well than as a doll." She dismissed Cheshire with a pay on the head, and he scampered off, ever-present grin still in place.

The Keeper of the Clocks sipped her tea, letting the delicious warmth flow over her tongue. She twirled her dark hair around one of her fingers. "Indeed," she chirped. The Keeper set her cup down on the saucer delicately. Clearing her throat, she said, "Oh, how is Puppeteer, anyhow?" She tilted her head to one side curiously. She was making her usual attempt at smalltalk.

"He is good, he wished he could come today...but as you know we have had some new arrivals at the mansion. They are a roudy bunch...they can't wait ti take their first contract. Prince is worried they are getting ahead of themselves, but I understand the limits of time..." She looks at her pocket watch.
A bell tolls through the hall...it fills the area with an ominous echo.
She looks to her sister and says, "A contract...did a contract just end?" The room is filled with clocks, she wonders which one tolled.

The Keeper's eyes widened in surprise as she jumped a little bit. "Oh! Oh, yes yes. Excuse me." She vanished, leaving an empty seat in seconds. Moments later, she reappeared not too far from the table, about ten or fifteen feet in the air, hovering directly in front of a clock. It was large and completely wooden, giving off a slightly erie aura. However, the wood was painted white and looked somewhat rustic and homely. The Keeper tapped it once, and summoned a weeping girl to the room, just behind the Keeper.

"Times up, dearie~" The Keeper descended until she stood before the girl on the floor. She took a hold of the girl's curly, blond locks. "What lovely hair," she murmured, looking upon the girl's tear-stained face. "Awww, how cute..."

The Keeper stood up straight. "You shall be my doll. You will sit... There!" She pointed to an open spot on the crowded shelves. Ignoring the girl's cries, the Keeper waved her hand, and a moment later, she held a blond doll in her hand, which teleported to the designated place. The seal had been removed. The contract annulled. All in a day's work.

The Keeper of the Clock say down once more at the table with her sister, sipping her tea and smiling. "Now then, how are these new arrivals?"

The Keeper of the Clocks rose swiftly, Cheshire in her arms. The small cat creature was eyeing the newcome girl's creature. If his grin wasn't permenant, he would have been scowling, or as much as he could, being a cat. Instead, his fur bristled and he shrank closer to the Keeper.

The Keeper regarded the girl with an unhidden distaste. "How dare you, heathen, tresspass in my lair! And interrupt tea time, too! How rude! Wipe that glare off your face, worm, and apologize before I have you torn to bits and pieces!" The Nymph of the Seal tugged lightly within her mouth, wanting to be set free to wreak havoc. The Keeper pushed her false canine tooth lightly in rejection. She could manifest minions to do that. She looked the girl up and down. Lovely hair, for a heathen, she thought begrudgingly.

With a wave of her hand, the large door opened to her sister. The Keeper of the Clocks was sitting on a fluffy cushion, playing with Cheshire. The miniature, cat-like creature crawled about her arms. "Come in, sister," she called, tossing Cheshire into the air and catching him again.

The Prince stands at the door, ushering for Gwyn, Noxi, Angel. Bae, and Amaya to join the others, "If you don't join now you won't get to go into town afterwards!" He shouted through the home.

The Keeper walked down the Hall of Clocks to return to the tea set with her Sister.
"The Prince felt a powerful soul, Have you send another friend for Gwyn?" she chuckled and sipped her tea.

A smile slowly spread across her face. "Perhaps," she shrugs, a glint in her eye. "I'm afraid I can't recall." She disappeared and reappeared in her respective seat at the table. Cheshire cleaned up the mess that the intruding girl had made. "Now then," the Keeper said. "We finally get to resume our tea."

The Keeper of the Clocks sat with her sister, as the group went on their first mission. She wondered how they would do, If they would learn to work as a team...She thought about So-So, he would probably enjoy it. She looked over at her sister, How would she react when the first memory was reawaken in each of them? She hoped her sister would restrain her fury, but now that she had a Knight of the Abyss working with her...who knows what she might do. The Keeper sipped her tea and chatted with her sister, giggling and enjoying herself.
"How have you been occupying yourself while I'm away sister? Do you play with your dolls?"

The Keeper of the Clock stuck out her lip. "I don't play with them! I'm much to old for that. I talk to them, of course." Cheshire rubbed against her leg. She pet his head. "And Cheshire. He's funny."

Returning her attention to her tea, The Keeper of the Clocks commented, "It must be a lot of work, running around, looking after the contractors. Frankly, I wouldn't have the patience."

The Keeper of the Door laughed at the comment. "It's like having children who all have man-eating pets! I wonder just how much of my mansion they're going to destroy!"
The mansion groaned in reply.
She sipped her tea as Prince gave her a silent goodbye, leaving with three of the contractors. She knew where the location was however, so if the others needed to join she could send them there.
She continued her conversations with her sister, "Do they tell any good stories?"

{A: This post is super overdue
B: it's gonna suck, because I need sleep XD}

A clock rang out in the massive hall. The Keeper of Clocks smirked and set down her tea. An almost painful pressure was exerted on her upper-right canine tooth. Her false tooth. A dark shadow drifted from between her lips, a demonic smoke. The smoke settled in the form of an evil young woman, The Keeper's second creature: The Nymph of the Seal.

As Cheshire scampered under the table, the Keeper of the Clicks rose and faced the Nymph. She spoke clearly and deliberately. "You are to return Doldum and Merline to me directly. You are to do nothing more." The Creature grinned wickedly and vanished from the hall. The Keeper remained standing.

The Nymph appeared just behind Doldum and his puppet. She placed her hand on the evil Creature's and Marline's back, just over the Seal. "Time's up," she hissed and cackled deviously. Then, the Nymph, the Creature, and the girl all disappeared in a puff of dark mist.

Back at the hall, the three appeared before the Keeper of the Clocks. The Nymph cackled once more and ripped the seals painfully from the bodies. Marline screamed. The Nymph laughed some more, then dissolved into shadow, replacing herself in the hole in the Keeper's mouth, once again her canine tooth.

Doldum was seething. "Unfair!" he cried. "Unfair!" Marline kept sobbing on the floor. The Keeper smiled. "Aw, wah, poor you." Then, she growled, "Time's up. Back to the Abyss." She waved her hand and the two vanished, Doldum growling and Marline screaming, back to the omnipresent horror of the Abyss.
