______________________________

Coming from a long line of powerful Arcane users, often veering on the mysterious and destructive side. Having a familial tie to the darker ends of magic tends to give others a bad impression and reputation, essentially guilty by association. No one in the family really knows when the connection to the Arcane started, all they know is that it has always been passed down by generation to generation as long as records go, or anyone is concerned. Due to her bloodline, Beau was sadly handed down the part of magic that is typically feared and veered as dangerous if not properly trained or controlled. Necromancy. It is no easy walk in the park for anyone given this ability, nor is it a delightful experience for the user either.
Beau is capable of speaking with the dead, or seeing ghosts and spirits at random, unless she chooses to specifically summon a spirit. Which is rare, as she is terrified of the powers she was gifted, and often wishes that the Arcane had passed her entirely. She knows her connections to the Arcane are strong, and she has the potential and blood line to back it up, but only if she is ever able to gain control of her powers. Almost any and all incantations to summon the dead that she has attempted in the past has either failed, or had gone entirely wrong and someone got hurt due to her lack of control. She is by no means reckless or incompatant, her powers are just far too strong for her to take full control of, as well as her lack of wanting to even have powers.

Beau is what many would consider plain and not much to look at in general, but that isn't to say she's ugly it's just that she's never put too much thought into how she presents herself. Her shoulder length hair is typically put up in a messy and lose bun or ponytail whenever she's outside of her room, has never been one for makeup, and at most it's some eye-liner. her casual choice if clothing is skinny jeans and graphic t-shirts, or jackets and hoodies with the occasional sweater. She's never been one to show off her body, as in her own word's she's "not much to look at" and feels more comfortable covered up. Seeing her in anything other than layers is a rare occurance to say the least. She's never been very confident, and it shows with how she presents herself daily.
Whenever she does decide to dress up and be more formal, it tends to be more on the androgynous end of things. Usually pertaining to suits and vests with button up shirts and dress pants and the cliche 'old man' shoes, and with just a little bit more makeup than what she'd be normally willing to have, often having someone else do it because she can't do her own makeup to save her life.
As for any oddities or distinct markings, she doesn't have many. Never had her ears pierced or any tattoos until she came to Cascadia. She's since had her ears pierced with small studs in her lobes, and got a few tattoos to boot. Beau had gotten an old rune tattood onto the top part of her left hand when she was sixteen, as part of her family's tradition, as well as another tattoo on her right hand. And her final tattoo is the Yggdrasil tree along her shoulders and trails down to her spine and ends at the lower half of her back.

P E R S O N A L I T Y:
From what many can say about Beau, is that she's not exactly the most outgoing type, very much so the introverted type. She's rather quiet and to herself most of the type, even when in classes or hanging out with her friends and peers. Whether it's from growing up in a large household where she was the youngest, and from the mistreatment and high expectations from there, or her natural personality over all, many have noted that she seems far too self concius and worried about what others think of her. Growing up, she was the last child in her family of well known and successful magic users, so the same expectations from her family were thrust upon her shoulders at an all too young age, and she's carried that weight silently since.
In short, Beau is a simple girl with simple needs. Her attitude towards other people can be summed up as "do whatever you want, but if it fucks with my shit and people I care about, we're going to have issues." and she's made sure that others know that fact well before considering someone else a friend. She's rather possessive and overly worried about those she cares about being hurt or in any form of danger. Beau has few concerns when it comes to violence, having demonstrated a willingness and, occasionally, an eagerness to harm others if it serves her interests and other's safety foremost. Whether it was her upbringing and dark history, or her self preservation methods she's developed over the years, no one is exactly certain. This aggressive attitude, along with her general dislike of authority figures, and her parents especially, has put her at odds with her superiors at Cascadia.
Despite being rather charismatic in nature, Beau is particularly abrasive and awkward in ordinary social interactions, frequently coming off as insulting when she tries to give compliments and straining credulity when she attempts to be polite. She was never fully taught how to interact with many people due to her home life, since she spent much of her time in her room reading books or listening to music, or even being outside and away from the old house. She's just never been one for large social interactions and it tends to show by her needing someone else to be there with her before she crumbles from the ever growing anxiety. Most notably, she is most often referred to as "none filtered" and unpredictable about what she may say about someone, or even as far as to what she may say to their face.
In order to improve her social skills, many of her teachers and even the Head Master of the school have suggested that she smile more, but due to Beau's usual hostility, her smiles tend to come off as either unsettling or extremely disingenuous and forced. In higher-stakes dealings with strangers she frequently peppers her speech with liesâshe is better at deception than persuasionâsometimes with positive results, if she's lucky enough.
Contrary to what some may think, she is intelligent and talented at transcribing old runes and spells, but with unlucky streaks as she isn't the smartest one out of her family. But that isn't to say she's a hopeless idiot. She is knowledgeable about history (a testament to her constant reading, studying and endless trips to the school's library), she keeps thorough notes with her on the off chance someone may need some help with their work.
But most notably, she has gained the nickname "The Disaster Lesbian" around campus due to her often flirty demeanor towards women but infrequent success. Notably, she called one of her teachers "very attractive" as soon as she saw the teacher in her earlier years, and no one has let her live it down since.
Q U I R K SXA N DXO D D I T I E S:
Beau has a tendency of biting her nails until they bleed, it's a small tick she developed over the years due to her adhd and anxiety.
Her finger-nails are always notably painted black or some other dark color
If she isn't biting her nails, she's most likely tapping her foot against the floor or tapping her fingers against a desk or table when trying to focus
She has a small tick where her nose will twitch if she's over anxious or stressed.
Beau learned how to play the violin and piano at a young age and still play, violin music is often heard coming from her dorm room
She refuses to eat mushrooms, they make her feel sick. She'll refuse to eat them regardless of how many times she's asked
F E A R S:
Failure, her family instilled in her the mentality of striving for greatness and nothing else. The thought of letting them down more than she already has terrifies her.
Necromancy, while it is the powers she was granted, she is terrified of them ever since an accident when she was younger. Beau hates seeing ghosts and spirits and wishes they'd just leave her alone
Losing control, Beau is terrified of not only never gaining control over her powers, but the idea of losing control of her powers scares her more than anything.

Beau's family's connection to the Arcane reaches as far back as anyone is really concerned, and has since shown it off over the generations. Her family line has always been an open and proud family in the Arcane world, they view everyone with magic better and superior than everyone else, and those that don't have magical blood have always been deemed as less. Growing up, Beau was the youngest of eight siblings, four older sisters and four older brothers. As far as she was concerned from a young age, the expectations of her siblings and how they followed the family line's rules and values were thrusted upon her as well from an early start. Something she hasn't fully recovered from, even after all her years at Cascadia.
Her family was rich and well known as one of the finer families in New Orleans, a family that had been living there ever since before even the plantations started to prosper and spread all over Louisiana. Their family was known to dabble in the darker side of the Arcane, whether it was necromancy in its purest form, of raising the dead or summoning spirits at Seances so people could speak with their loved ones once more, all for a price of course. The Taliesin family were known among the magical world for being one of the most pure bloodlines of Necromancer, Psychics and mediums, but usually always the prior one as Necromancers always seemed to flourish from their bloodline. They were known for their ruthless and calculative methods, as well as their profiency in the Arcane and business affairs. Something Beau always grew up hearing, It was just business, even when it came to tormenting people with cursed and nightmares brought on by hexing those they had some form of spite for. Often resulting with people coming to them for help with their mysterious hexes and curses, and paid good money to help be cured of them.
Her life was relatively good for the most part in her younger years. Where they lived and with a large and old manner that resided in the southern end of New Orleans, to do whatever they wanted as it had multiple hidden rooms and secrets throughout the manner, Beau never ran out of things to do. And having a bunch of older siblings never became a bore for her, at least not until she turned eight. Her parents grew to have worry for the child, as she hadn't shown any connection to the Arcane yet, and worries and whispers began to spread throughout the home of her being human and that the arcane must have skipped over her, as their children always showed a connection to the dark arts by the time they were six years old. But not Beau. Which, she seemed perfectly fine with, being the odd one out was never a bother for her. At least it wasn't until her parents decided to do something about it.
Her parents devised an idea to help push her powers and try to press and see if they could somehow force them to show themselves, other than let her powers come naturally. They wouldn't allow any of their children to be unnatural if they could help it. As they weren't afraid to shun someone of none magical blood, even if it were their own child. One night, they pulled Beau out of bed and had her come with them to the main room of the house where they performed magic in secret. It was a large chamber in their basement under the house, which was enchanted with multiple spells and incantations to keep any and all magic in the room, and to keep anything wrong from entering their home. What proceeded that night was something Beau had never been able to move on from, the nightmares remaining an ever present ghost that haunted her for years to come.
Beau didn't exactly remember when it started, but she began seeing things from that night onward. Shadowy figures running from one room to another down the darkened hallways at night, or creaks or footsteps coming from the hallway. Her life became a never ending nightmare that no matter what, she couldn't escape it. Things slowly began to transpire as the years passed on. Her powers became more prevalent as she could see spirits of the deceased wherever she went. Unlike her siblings and parents who could control their powers and gifts, Beau was cursed to forever have to see and hear them wherever she went. Always hearing their whispers in her ears, even at night as she tried to sleep, which eventually became something she feared more than anything. Her room went from being a place of safety, to a room where they would await her to only antagonize her with questions and pleading, and questions about their loved ones. The ghosts seemed to be feeding off of her fear, all except for one. It was a younger boy, maybe twelve years old? He explained that his death was an accident as he was working on the house with his father, and his life came to a tragic end, like most of the ghosts haunting her home, they all had died on the property or somewhere close to the home for them to latch onto.
As the years went on, her life slowly started to see things improve as her parents decided it was time for her to go to Cascadia when she turned eight-teen, to learn how to gain a proper control over her powers and to stop being so damn useless, as her mother used to say. They packed up all of her things and sent her off with barely more than a weeks notice of her departure, and she was finally sent off to the school she had always heard so much about. The prestigious school had been something she was always intimidated by. The stories she heard of the school were reveered as one of, if not the best school for those of the Arcane blood. Where talented magic users would go to hone their skills, as well as help gain control over their abilities so it would be easier for them to blend in with the normal human, whatever that meant. As Beau spent more and more time at the school, she went from fearing it and feeling intimidated, to feeling like she was at home. In a place that her teachers truly wanted her to succeed, and used tough love as a motive to make sure she kept up drive to help her powers. With the time she's spent at Cascadia, going back to New Orleans, back at that house only ever seemed to be a place for her to spend holidays and birthdays with her family. If she could avoid that house that dealt so much trauma and fear in her through her life, she'd do whatever she could. If it was spending the night at a friend or relative's home, she'd go there. Just anywhere but that home. Cascadia has since taken over as her home, and the people there have become like family to her, and she'll do whatever she has to to protect it, even if it is just pretending to be a human that's learning music theory and sciences.
