H E I G H TXANDXB U I L D: 6'1", athletic
Booker's a handsome guy, and he doesn't pretend he isn't. He's a good height, has a nice face, a cute smile; he always considered working out and being athletic a good, healthy outlet for the stresses of life, so he's in pretty good shape, too. He's not the sort to flaunt his looks, but he's also not the type to minimize himself. He stands tall, proud, strong. Booker takes his time to make sure his hair is perfect, and he's pretty particular; he doesn't want even a hair out of place. Actually, he's particular about all aspects of his appearance. He really internalized his mother's insistence that they all look the part of a "perfect" family,
His preferred style of dress is pretty casual- jeans, tee-shirts, hoodies, sneakers. He isn't a slob or anything, he just likes to be comfortable, and he hates getting dressed up, but boy when he does dress up, he does it well. He doesn't have any piercings, tattoos, or anything like that. He does wear glasses... Sometimes. He doesn't seem to have any set criteria for whether he chooses to wear contacts or his glasses, but he's equally comfortable with both.

P E R S O N A L I T Y:
At first glance, Booker seems to be a very no-nonsense person. He's not one to goof around or waste time when he has work to do. He tends to take thing very seriously, and put all of his focus on the task ahead of him. He can be a little intense, that way. He's not the type to rush things, either; he takes his time, does it right, waits patiently for the right time/place/moment. He's very patient in most aspects of his life (though, he won't wait around for someone to treat him the way he deserves to be treated), a trait he worked hard to have.
It's easy for people to think that Booker is just a very serious person; after all, people who have tried to get to know him in the context of a class project or something often get a blank stare and are quickly ushered back on topic. Friends know Booker to be a really helpful person. If you're worth the energy, he'll help you move your couch, proofread your English paper, listen to your terrible attempts at stand-up (though he will not fake any laughter). He's careful with his words, so he tends to be on the quiet side, though he often has a lot of thoughts about any given situation. He tends not to give advice, though he generally gives good advice when he does. Booker has a dry wit, and a bit of sarcasm about him. He doesn't always share the things he thinks up, regardless of how funny he thinks they may be, but he does occasionally share his personal brand of pessimistic humor with his friends.
Booker takes his closest personal relationships pretty seriously, and tends to expect the same. When people don't treat him the way he thinks he deserves to be treated, he tends to distance himself. He isn't particularly proud or self-centered, but he does have a measure of self-respect. After spending his entire life trying to live up to other people's expectations so he could feel good enough for them, he decided that he just didn't have the time for people who didn't like him exactly as he was.
Q U I R K SXA N DXO D D I T I E S:
Booker tends to read several books at once, and doesn't seem to have much trouble keeping the stories straight.
He drinks, just, an unhealthy amount of caffeine. He should probably cut back.
He occasionally tries to adjust his glasses when he isn't wearing them.
He studies in complete silence, when he can.
He leaves some sort of light on when he sleeps.
F E A R S:
Booker is terrified of failure; to him, it isn't an option, and failing feels like the worst thing that could happen.
He's afraid of birds: big birds, small birds, flying birds, land based birds. Doesn't matter. They're demons. Extra fear if they talk.

Booker's family was pretty normal: middle class, mom and dad, two kids, a dumb dog. When they were kids, Booker and his sister were really close. She was only two years older than him, so they did pretty much everything together when they were young. They shared toys, ideas, friends, secrets; everything. As they grew up, just how different they were became evident. His sister was brilliant, and she didn't even have to try. She was also charismatic, funny, just everything their parents could have wanted in a child. Booker felt forgotten. He was every bit as smart as she was, but he was quiet, shy, had to work harder to be noticed. Suddenly, where the siblings used to be friends, it felt like a competition to Booker, and he was losing.
By the time he hit high school, Booker and his sister weren't very close anymore, but they did find themselves confiding in one another, especially when it came to the sorts of things they wouldn't want to tell their parents. Booker's sister's relationship to their parents became strained, and as a way to stay on their good side, she threw Booker under the bus. They had a huge falling out that they now just pretend never happened, but Booker hasn't been able to forgive any of them for it.
His parents told him that an English degree was worthless, he should be more practical. It became kind of a goal of his: succeed and prove them wrong. So, when he decided that was what he wanted to do, he worked his ass off to get to a place that he would flourish. After the way his family had hurt him, it went beyond making them proud.
He applied to tons of schools, and got into a few. Everyone had their opinions about where he should go, but he was pretty drawn to Cascadia. They had pretty decent scholarships available, and the fact that the school was a twenty-eight hour drive from his hometown was a plus. At first, his parents said they'd visit him, but between the long drive and the stubborn Midwestern refusal to fly, they haven't visited once. Booker doesn't complain.
At Cascadia, he's really mostly been keeping his nose to the grind and staying out of trouble. There's plenty of rumors, and Booker isn't sure what he thinks of them, but honestly it's just been more incentive to mind his own business. So he studies, bitches at his roommate, occasionally does some light tutoring; normal college stuff.
