The Byers-Ellery Institute is rather elusive, most know that. No one exactly knows what happens in the highly secured government facility. It just popped out of nowhere a year ago right outside the town of Florence, Oregon. They released a statement saying that previously they had been located in Bellevue, Washington, but moved to a smaller town for “security reasons”. That’s all the townspeople were told, and no one questioned it. There's not a lot of information to be found about them online, so most people simply stopped caring.

But those on the inside know all the peculiar happenings, and it’s quite horrific indeed.

The Institute has devoted it’s work to figuring out the supernatural happenings in the world, and one big part of their research is there Byers-Ellery Alternative Science Testing (B.E.A.S.T) program and their subjects. The "Beast" program runs cruel and remorseless tests on their numbered subjects, all of whom hold an odd and unnatural power. They are isolated, treated like pawns, all in order to be used by the government's beck and call. They are being trained to be weapons, and there's nothing the Institute and their Beast wouldn't do to achieve their goals.

They've found them. After 15 years, they've finally found the missing subjects.

On a cold winters night in the year 2001, three Lab Technicians who worked for the "Beast" Program felt something that would ruin them - remorse. Remorse for the toddlers who the Institute had taken in order to test their out of control powers. Four of them were siblings found in orphanages at two separate times (something they would never experience again) There were the two brothers No. 3 and No.4, then a brother and sister, No.5 and No.6. To have such young and fresh subjects when the Institutes first two subjects were young adults and declining into madness, it was a quite the blessing. Not even long after, No.1 gave birth to a young baby girl whom she'd had with who they figured was a worker in the Institute. The young baby girl had a power of her own, and they had kept her for their "Beast" program as well. But these three technicians claimed they hadn't signed up for such cruelty to children. It was different when the subjects were older like the first two, but when these kids were all under three; that's were they drew the line.

So, they came up with a plan.

They gathered up the children and tried to make a break for it, setting the labs on fire as a distraction. That fire ended up perishing some of the workers, equipment, research, and Subject No.1 as well. They managed to escape with the two pairs of siblings, but when they went to grab Subject No.1's daughter, her door had been blocked by a burning beam. They thought she was a goner, and felt that if they could at least get a couple of the kids out, then that was good enough. They ended up taking the children to a church and dropping them off, knowing that abandoned children would be either fostered or adopted. The three technicians fled for about a year, during which time the Institute had begun building themselves back up, searching for the kids and the technicians who took them. They found the technicians first, and they were killed.

But now they've managed to track the two brothers down in the town of Florence, Oregon, and they've been watching, all the while not knowing that the other two siblings live in the town as well. Finally, after a year of waiting, they found their chance and took the youngest of the brothers. Their plan was to use him to also draw his elder brother out, thinking it a safer route then kidnapping him as well and causing further suspicion, but something put a dent in their plan. They weren't expecting No. 8 to take the chance to escape during their extraction.

No. 8, now on her own in an unknown world, runs into a boy with a power and a number 6 behind his ear, and knows exactly who he is. She must now enlist his help to get out No. 4 who has just been taken and to take down the institute and their "Beast." who is after them all.

Person 1 is in quite the predicament indeed. Not only has his little brother just gone missing, but his brother's friend person 3 (who just so happens to be his estranged childhood friend person 2's little brother) turns up with the strange girl person 4 who shares the same power and tattooed number as him and his brother. She informs him of the awful fate his brother met when the Byers-Ellery Institute took him and exposed him to the "Beast".

All person 3 wanted was to get his best friend back, but he never expected to run into person 4 as he was searching that fateful night. Ever since Person 4 was a child and born from her mother, subject no.1, she has been a subject of the Byers-Ellery Institute and trapped by their "Beast." It's only when they catch an old subject, no.4, that she manages to make a break in the system and becomes free. She comes across Person 3 who leads her to two others (person 1 and 2), all of whom were previous test subject who don't remember a thing. She enlists their help to finally stop the "Beast."

  • Important: I am willing to add more characters! If you have a character idea, pitch it to me! I have two ideas for characters already so if these spots are all filled up but you want to be apart of the roleplay, please please please message me.
  • Each character has a number tattoo behind their ear, all but Person 4 know why. They were numbered in the institute. Person 1 in No. 3, Person 2 is No.5, Person 3 is No.6 and Person 4 is No.8
  • I will add more details in the OOC tab once all the spots are reserved having to do with there past and how we will start the roleplay.
  • The person who portrays person 1 will come up with a name for their missing brother (and if you like, a FC.) The brother has the no. 4 tattooed behind their ear. I will come up with a power for him after everyone's decided theirs.
  • Person 1 and Person 2 must be between the ages of 18-19 and have to be older than Person 3 and Person 4
  • Person 3 and Person 4 must be between the ages of 16-17 and have to be older than Person 1 and Person 2
  • Real face claims are preferred. Please tell me your FC in the OOC and I will add a picture of them on the front page.
  • If you would like to create a second character, pitch me an idea and I'd be happy to accept it!
  • You must pick a power for your character. Let me know in the OOC what it is and I must accept it; something that is too godmod like, or I feel is too overpowering of the other character's powers will not be accepted.
  • Reservations last 48 hours.
  • Feel free to send in a WIP.
  • You have one weeks time from when you submit your WIP to finish your character.
  • If you need any extensions on any of the above, let me know.
  • All basic rules apply, no god modding/mary sues. etc. Flaws make characters fun!
  • Swearing is fine, just don't go overboard.
  • No killing anyone's characters or seriously harming them, at least not without their consent.
  • Romance is great! Just don't go into some of the "details" that may occur.
  • Try and include everyone! If you are stuck on a post, just ask me for some ideas~
  • Post should be above 500 words and 3+ paragraphs. Post at least once or twice a week.
  • Once all reservations are in, I will discuss what will happen at the start of the roleplay. Please note, this is a role play that will involve a lot of plots that we all collaboratively come up with together!
  • Please include just general basics in you character sheet. If you want a set CS, I can send you one.
  • If you have any questions at all, please ask! I'm sure I missed a couple bits of information but I'll be happy to answer any inquiries through OOC or in a PM.
