Name:
Ros Borralian

Age:
25

Height:
6' 2"

Weight:
180lbs

Profession:
Former Soldier turned known Mercenary Bounty Hunter

Personality:
Upon first glances, Ros comes across as unaproachable and rather cold and aloof to a degree. She tends to keep to herself and isn't much of a talker when first meeting someone. But once her loyalty and walls have been lowered, it's evident she is a woman of many layers. She isn't as cold and assertive as she may seem. Ros has a warmer and kinder side that tends to become evident around children and elders.

One thing to note, pride and respect are her more evident attributes. No matter the person, she holds an air of pride with a tinge of cockiness, but she will always have a sense of respect for who she may be talking to. Never looking down upon someone unless they have done something stupid or childish, then she may teasingly chastise them for their actions. Above all, Ros is a good ally to have on one's side. She is a fierce and loyal companion to those she sees fit, and even fiercer and loyal companion in the field of battle. It is also best to stay on her good side, best you don't piss her off or you may just wake up with a broken jaw or nose.

Biography:
Most of her early years are unknown, as she was never one to speak much of her past and where she came from. Her early years in life were good enough to extent as one would have growing up in a small farming town in the middle of nowhere. Over the years, from what Ros had both seen and done have weighed heavily on her shoulders and mind, and after an incident in one of her past trips to a local enemy village, Ros had lost faith in the military and had resigned after the events she had witnessed taken place.

She's refused to talk about what she had seen, or maybe even possibly dondone. Whether out of fear of her past coming to bite her in the ass, or fear of judgement, no one is sure. It has been three years since she left, and has since picked up various jobs amongst her travels, for where she now finds herself as a rather reliable and well known bounty hunter that finds no job too risky or difficult for her to complete, as well as a few notches in her belt, so to speak. But Ros can't help but feel like there is more out there for her, but what could a simply mercenary do?

So begins...

Former Soldier/Mercenary | Attire | #800000

The sun was already high within in the pure blue sky, clouds dotting across the sky like puffs of smoke in the wind. The air smelt of saltwater and fish, something that took some longer to grow accustomed to than others. Slow and heavy footsteps made their way across the main street of the small portside town as a tall figure walked with purpose, but also seemed to be taking their time. Ros let out a small yawn as she stretched, she slept in longer than she had planned, never was a morning person anyway. She had plenty of errands to run today, and she had slept past half of the things she were supposed to do, maybe tomorrow she could get some of the other things done. Pushing those thoughts from her still sleepy mind, she made her way over to one of the taverns she had been to the night previously. This town may not have had much going for it otherwise, but the tavern seemed to be one of the best places to spend one's time in an otherwise lackluster town.

The moment the door opened, the tavern fell silent as Ros stepped in. Eyes and heads immediately turned in her direction, after giving a few hard glares an glances, the sea of faces quickly turned away from her and went back to their business. Easily being taller than most people in this town made her stick out like a sore thumb, especially with her ever broody and large stature in general. Walking up to the bar she sat down with a soft thud, keeping her back turned towards most of the environment around her.

"Aye, what be yer poison this mornin', miss?" the barkeep questioned with a hardy smile.

"I'll take a Bloodcrest ale, and a pint of copper-shine. Please." the woman said with a small smile, flashing the barkeep with a wink. "Oh, and a steak and bread platter as well. Double the tatoes this time?" Ros chuckled, as she placed down a large stack of paper bills, pushing them towards the barkeep.

The man flashed her a smile as he quickly accepted the money, "Yes, ma'am. Will be out shortly." he said he retreated into the back shortly after pouring Ros her drinks and handing them to the woman.

Ros sat back and was lost in thought as she waited for her food, only coming back as she heard a commotion of patrons. Looking over her shoulder, she saw them heckling someone that could have been no more than fifteen years old? If even that. He was a small, scrawny kid with orange hair. Just a kid..., she thought to herself as she shot the men in question a deadly glare over her shoulder. Making eye contact with the men for a few short seconds before they immediately looked away.

Huffing to herself as she took a sip of her drink as she turned back to the bar. Her attention being taken back when the young boy from just a few moments ago came up to the bar and rang the bell. A small chuckle creased her lips as she took another sip of her drink, "Aren't you a little young to be in a place like this, kid?" a small smile creased her lips for a moment before she took another sip from her drink.

The barkeep returned a few minutes later with Ros' food in hand, placing the platter infront of the woman with a smile. "My bad, love. Took a bit longer than intended."

"No worries. Thanks, mate. But uh, I think our friend here has an important question for you." Ros said with a smile as she nodded towards the boy a few feet away from her. Pushing a few extra bills his way, "Whatever his order is, give him a side of some food to go? Make it a part of my tab." Ros said softly before she began to take part in her own food. The barkeep gave her a nod as he quickly retrieved the money before walking over to the boy that rang the bell.

Collen Merah

"Aren't you a little young to be in a place like this, kid?"

Collen turned towards the redhaired woman. "Aren't you being kinda nosy?" He snapped back. As if he had a choice to be somewhere else.

As he waited for her and the barkeep to finish their conversation, the boy patted his pocket making once again sure the bills were in there. Just the thought of losing them and having to face the Captain gave him nightmares.

Once the man walked up to him, Collen gave a slight smile to the familiar face. “Hey Gus, I need that wine again. Hel… Helga… ah, no… umm… Hil…. Hildagran!”

"Ah. Hilgrande. 'Course he wants the expensive stuff."

He was a portly man wearing a traditional (stained) white wool tunic and some brown leather pants and boots. His scraggly beard hung to just below his clavicle, and his hands, rough and calloused, were showing signs of skin cracks from having had to wash his hands a few too many times today.

"How're ya doin' kiddo?" He asked.

The boy turned his head away. Even without saying a word it was clear, that things could be better. In more normal circumstances he hadn't mind chatting with the man, but ever since he had went to work for Captain Lohran, people he knew tended to ask too many questions. Eventually he spoke quietly “I'm…. fine.”

Gus came forward and put an arm around Collen's shoulder, guiding him to the far side of the room away from everyone else and kept his back to the patrons so nobody could hear him or read his lips.

"Are you really okay, kiddo? Lohren's not exactly a mysterious guy, ya know. And I don't like him."

He glanced at the patrons, then back to Collen.

"He hasn't tried to hurt ya, has he kiddo?"

Collen looked down staying silent for a moment. He wasn't sure how much he even wanted to reveal to Gus, more so what he wanted to reveal. If the word of him bad mouthing about Lohran would somehow spread he'd be in a big trouble.

"It's.... It's basically: ‘do as told and don‘t mess up.’" He said quietly. The boy had definitely seen too many fingers cut off from the crew already for smallest of mistakes. He just hoped to avoid the same.

"It's not too different from home."

Gus nodded, giving Collen a pat on the shoulder. "Just be careful, kiddo. " He whispered.

"Hey. Before you take off, lemme give ya somethin." Gus walked into the back and returned with a wheeled cart. "Here. You can load the wine boxes in here. Just be sure it gets back to me by the end of the day, okay?"

Collen was a bit surprised as Gus brought out the cart. It was going to help immensely. "Th-thanks Gus" he muttered and handed him the stack of money for the wine. "It’s enough, right?”

Gus took the money and counted it, just to be sure, and gave Collen a smile. "You take care o' yourself, kiddo. Even if that blowhard is a taskmaster, try not to be stranger. Ya hear?"

Collen chuckled with a nod. "I'll try. Thanks Gus."

As he was putting the bottles of wine in the cart Collen glanced at the man. "Don't know when I be around next. First mate said it'll be a long journey. Looking for new land or something." He told Gus quietly not wanting to spill too much to the other patrons.

Gus blinked. "Oh... I guess you're goin' out with that crazy brunette who does the map thing, yeah? She's supposed to be the one leading it, if I hear correctly."

He scratched his belly and chuckled. "Haven't met her myself. But still, keep your head up. Now skedattle. Don't want that Captain havin' any excuses to yell at ya."

Collen had no clue who the mysterious brunette woman was but it wasn’t really in his interest either. He doubted a person like that would even care about a mere ship boy. The boy said his goodbyes to Gus and pushed the little cart heading back towards the ship hoping the Captain was still in somewhat good mood.

Korrin eventually found the Tavern and, pulling his hood up to keep the upper part of his face hidden, walked in, taking a look around for a place to sit. His jade eyes stared at the patrons there currently as he walked to a corner near the bar. He eyed the tall woman there and turned his gaze back to the table. The Flame tickled the back of his head in response to that action. Like an itch wanting to be scratch, the flame gave the desire to challenge her to see how tough she was.

But Korrin would have none of it. He’d get his first full meal in awhile to feed his body, nothing more nothing less. No fighting anyone unless they had the intent to do him harm. Food was a better substitute for soothing his Flame, for awhile at least. So he sat waiting for the tavern keeper to turn his attention to him, all the while keeping an ear open for an opportunity to join this upcoming journey. It’d be an adventure of a lifetime, that was for certain.

He waited and observed said keeper come out from a door, giving the taller woman her order, then turning his attention to a boy, a little younger then he is. Two years younger, maybe more. He listened to the conversation. He did not like the way the boy hesitated when asked if he was okay and if his Captain didn’t treat him rough. Something about the boy’s answer kindled the Flame a little more, and brought tension to the muscles in his arms. There was no reason to be hesitant. ”No reason at all. If something’s wrong say it. Don’t bottle it up.” he thought angrily. ”Then again, He gave me no reason when he cast me out of home.” His thoughts nearly caused him to miss out on the mentions of the expedition the Boy’s Captain was in, with a Mapmaker wanting to go to the New World no less.

He’d worry about finding a way to join later. He needed food in his belly to and he needed it as soon as possible to soothe his growing anger. He tapped on his table, but it was more like a knock on the door.

”Steak and vegetable platter, with Mead?” he asked, as calm as possible. He then drummed his fingers, taking deep breaths, thinking of the forest, the Wild, and imagining the Vast Beauty that could be the New World’s Wilderness.

Korrin received his meal and set the appropriate amount of bills on the table for the payment of the food as he then proceeded to eat said food with gusto. He enjoyed every bite, and drop of food and drink. He did it while he could. For he knew he probably had to either hunt again to receive payment, or maybe someone hires him as a bodyguard or something. He drank from said mug, swirling the remaining contents afterward as he contemplated what else he should do today.

”Communicate with the tall woman? No, if the Flame got loose and antagonized her, I’m the poor fool flat on his back.” He pondered. ”Maybe go outside for some fresh air? Find a place to sleep under the stars, as clearly I only had enough for a meal or a room. What I have left might be for more arrows, maybe?” The young hunter sighed, his mind asking the usual question of how he even survived to this point in life. Shaking his head he downed the rest of his mead. He decided to explore the town. See if any rumors were about. Setting the empty mug down he gave a small bow of his head to the barkeep. Muttered a Quick “Thank you for the meal.” to said man, he walked out the door and began to walk away from the building.

However, he stopped walking as he pondered about what he was wanting to do if he found something like a bodyguard job. ”I guess I’ll do an arm wrestle, no, they’d get someone stronger.. errgh! Why is it so hard to prove myself to Him, the World, and Desmiel himself?! I just want a chance. One chance, that’s all.” He muttered, a little bit louder then he probably would have liked, but that could be blamed on the Mead.

Ros chuckled at at boy's comment of her being nosy. Maybe she was, who was to say. She simply shrug her shoulders as she focused on her food for a few moments before the man who's name was Gus had walked over to the boy she was talking to moments prior. Not paying them much mind as she had more important matters to attend to, as well as focus on. She had one mission to follow through with, and she had no idea if she was anywhere close to her target in question. She had traveled for months, traversing the land in search of the one in question. She didn't care for much as to who this man was per say, all she cared about was the bounty on his head, and it was more than enough to garner her interest. High profiled targets with an even higher bounty on their heads upon following through with the deal were almost impossible for her to pass up. Locate the target, monitor for hours before moving in, making her strike, and taking proof of the kill back with her as proof for her reward. And repeat. An endless cycle of cat and mouse, something that never exactly caused her to grow bored or tired, but it was something that kept her life entertaining enough. At least for now until something else called to her.

Her attention was taken back for when she heard Gus and the boy talk from across the tavern. Her well trained ears had a knack for picking up on things that may have gone unnoticed. Most of what she heard didn't interest her, until she heard the name Lohran. Lohran. So it was true, he was close, not even close, but he was here. In the small town. What were the chances of that? Ros mused as she sat in the chair, finishing up the remains of her her food as she turned her attention back to what was before her. Not wanting to gain any unwanted attention if others managed to pick up on her easedropping.

Turning her head back to look at the boy as Gus came around with the crate and boxes of the boys order, with a small cart to carry them along on. So he was one of his crewmen? Seemed to be a bit too young, but who was she to judge. Silently Ros watched as the boy took his things, bidding Gus fairwell and walked out the door. A long journey? With Lohran? Things couldn't be lining up more perfectly than she could have asked for.

"Excuse me, Gus?" she called.

The man turned, looking back at the woman in question, "Yes, ma'am. What can I do ye for?" he asked with a kurt smile.

Shuffling in her chair Ros looked at the man before speaking up once more, "I couldn't help but over hear you and the boy. Is it true that Captain Lohran is in town?" she questioned, raising a brow.

Gus rung his hands together for a moment as he grasped a towel in one hand, and a glass in another. "Uh well, yes. He's been in port for some time now. Him and his men plan on going on a journey for some unknown amount of time. Why ye ask?"

Ros stirred in her seat for a moment before looking up at the man again, folding one arm over the other, "I was just curious. I've been in search of him for a while now so, I was just curious. I've been needing to speak with him." Ros said as she gave him a small smile and nod of her head before she slowly stood up, tossing a few extra bills on the table. "Looks like I've had my fill. Thank you, Gus. See you again sometime, hm?" she mused as she gave him a small wink.

"Yes ma'am. I wish you the best of luck with your err-endeavour. Thank you once more." the old man mused as he swiped the bills from the counter, watching as the woman walked off and out the door. "Strange one, that woman is..." he chuckled to himself as he went back to work.

Ros stepped out of the tavern, her feet hitting the dirt as she took in a long, deep breath as she stretched. Pulling up the hood of her cowl, she tucked her hands behind her back and began to make her way towards the port, taking a stab in the dark as it'd be her best bet to assume where Lohran would be. As she made her way down the street, she came across a small group of people to the side of the street. A man she had never seen before, must have been early twenties or so, dressed in some odd choice of clothing, and a young girl with an older woman who she could only assume was the girl's mother. Ros gave the small group a small smile and nod of her head as she approached, not wanting to come across as a threat or danger. "Pardon me, folks." Ros looked down at the child as she grew closer, giving her a small wave of her hand as she did so.

Korrin was about to politely turn her down about the payment of his hunting services, but paused when Cretas said “New World”. The popular rumor he was hearing about and musing on. His brain wracked with possible replies to her and was about to say them. But then Lemnia had to pull off the puppy dog act that he swears all children know. His poor sensitive big heart came crashing down. Indeed, this child obviously knew how to use all the tricks in the book! Thus how could he argue against such a weapon this small one possessed?

”Aww, can those eyes get any bigger? I think we can come to some arrangement in terms of like, a payment plan or something. Or maybe perhaps...” he said as he began to think. Korrin thought for a long hard moment before mentally preparing himself for what he might ask. This was his big chance to join up on a journey of a lifetime, something that would prove himself finally to the World and Him, that he was now strong and powerful. After taking a breath he asked, “You think that maybe if I went with you to this New World I might find something new to hunt or fight? If so, I’ll do what you wish if you allow me to go, as payment for getting you some more meat for your journey of course.”

As he finished his part of the business negotiation, he noticed the tall woman from the tavern walking past them, and could almost swear she looked at him odd. It was the boar skin cloak wasn’t it? It wasn’t Korrin’s fault the beast charged into the arrow that took it down. Clearing his throat he looks towards Cretas again. “So what do you think Miss Cretas? Do you think there’s a possibility I could join you on this journey?” He asked, hoping against hope itself and silently praying to Desmiel for a miracle.

Lemnia's puppy dog face slowly morphed into a happy and energetic smile with eyes practically sparkling with joy.

"It's a new world. There's bound to be all sorts of mysterious creatures never before seen by human eyes for you to hunt. New land to claim! New experiences to enjoy!! The possibilities are practically endless!!!"

Her tone shifted from calm agreement to ecstatic excitement, mirroring her daughter's smile as both mother and child seemed to glow with energy and enthusiasm the more excited they became.

"Oh, I can just imagine it now! Landing on the new world! I have to be the first one off the boat. No arguments from anyone! Oh! And then I have to plant the flag of Estallamos on the shore! What should we name the landing point? Cretamos? Cretestas? Something catchy..."

Lemania's face a she glanced to her mother was one of quiet indignation and embarrassment as her mother continued to go off about all the things she needed to do and everything she thought might be accomplished on day one.

"Thank you fow agweeing!" She chirped, catching sight of the new lady on approach. She gave a smile and a wave back at the woman and trotted up to her. "Hiiiiii! Who awe you?"

Meanwhile Cretas was lost in her own little world of imagination and planning for days not yet come.

Ros gave the small group a nod, planning on continuing past them. But she caught the eye of the child, who quickly trotted over to Ros, the child asking who she was. Ros hadn’t intended to stay and talk much, but the presence of the child was enough to make her stay.

Kneeling down so Ros could be eye level with the young girl, she gave her a warm and kind smile, “Hello, young one. My name is Ros, I’m just passing through, maybe looking for some work. But what’s your name, young one?” she questioned, cocking her head to the side with the smile remaining on her face as she extended her hand to the small child.

Looking up, past the girl Ros noticed how the woman she assumed was the girl’s mother was, rather vacant? She seemed to be off in her own little world, clearly off in her thoughts. Well this is wonderful.., she thought to herself for a moment. Looking over her shoulder she saw the young man that was in the tavern earlier, the one with the boar skin. She gave him a small nod of her head, before looking back at the small child who so eagerly wanted her attention.

Lemnia smiled widely and giggled with an open mouth causing the end to rise in a squeak.

"I'm Lemnia! Hiiiii!" She chirped with a little hop in place.

"That's my mom." She said as she pointed to the mindlessly rambling Cretas. "Her name's Cretas. And she's a cartoogopher... cartehgraepher? Um... She's a map lady!" She squeaked.

She ran a full circle around Ros with both arms held out behind her, giggling the whole way.

"What does Ros do?"

Ros smiled as the girl introduced herself as Lemnia, with a large smile on her face and a small little hop. This child was slowly starting to worm her way into Ros' heart, as much as she wanted to deny it. This child was cute, and was starting to use it all too well. Ros looked as Lemnia introduced her mother as well, Cretas. A 'Map lady' as her daughter put it. Ros chuckled softly as Lemnia clearly struggled to pronounce the word, but she got it. It was an interesting profession for her to have, considering how...air-headed the woman seemed. But who was she to judge?

She watched as Lemnia ran circles around Ros, clearly all too delighted to make a new friend. Watching as she finally came back around and stopped infront of Ros, almost falling over. Ros placed her hand on her chin as she thought for a moment at the young girl's question. She couldn't exactly tell her what she did, a child didn't need to know, and she didn't want to raise any alarm for why she was here exactly. And she didn't want to say she was a soldier, as she wasn't exactly one anymore, nevermind the false alarm of worry it could cause the other three.

"Uhm...I travel, all around the world. Picking up random jobs here and there...Guess you could say I'm an explorer. What does a little lady like you do, Miss Lemnia?" she questioned with a small smile as she poked the young girl playfully.

Lemnia giggled when Ros touched her chin, tongue just barely sticking out from beneath her top row of teeth as she smiled. Her chin was was a ticklish spot. But she didn't dare say that out loud.

"I have a reeeeeeally important job!" She chirped with another hop. "My job is to make sure momma doesn't get too lost in her head when she's supposed to be mapping. She likes to start talking about things she might be able to see and do a lot. So I have to smack her butt and make her focus."

She giggled.

"Oh! I also have to make sure momma stays pretty by making flower crowns like this one." She said, touching the one her mother had expertly made for her. "Momma can't be pretty without my crowns. So I have to make sure she's the prettiest ever!"

With that she turned towards her mother and, after taking only a single step on the flat dirt road...

SPLAT!!

Hands out front, face planted in the dirt, and her crown flung off her head to the ground ahead of her with one knee bent and her foot up towards the sky.

"MmmmMMmmmmph." She groaned.

Ros kept her eyes glued on the child that stood before her, giving her full attention to the small child as she explained that she helped keep her mother focused on her job at hand. Giving a small chuckle as the child continued to explain more and more of what her important job was. Resting her chin on her hand that was resting on her right knee, as the left was keeping her propped up as she was crouched down, listening to the children explain things was always interesting and entertaining. That much Ros had to admit. Children had their charm about them.

Tilting her head to the side as Lemnia continued to explain that she had to make sure she kept her mother pretty with her flower crowns. A genuine chuckle escaped her lips, "Oh I bet you do. She looks very pretty with them." she chuckled once more, watching as the child carried far too much energy for her little body. What she hadn't expected, was for what happened next was when Lemnia turned and went to walk, but not even after a single step did the child trip and fall flat on her face.

Reacting quickly, Ros lurched forwards, grabbing Lemnia gently in her arms and held her up by gently placing both of her hands on either side of the young girl. Gently dusting Lemnia off with her hands, before examing the small scratch on her face from the fall, "Are you okay, Lemnia? You took quite a fall." Ros finally questioned as she finished examining the child for any more minor injuries.

Korrin got overwhelmed by Cretas' ramblings and almost couldn't figure out whether or not if she was answering his question or not. It was very confusing to listen to. To make it more complicated Lemnia left to bother the tall tough lady! Leaving him all alone with her mom! What can he do!?

"Ms. Cretas? Does that mean yes or no to what i asked? I asked if it was alright to join you in your expedition?" He said hesitatingly. He could not tell if she was actually listening to him as he tried to soak in her ramblings and the tall woman, Now introduced as Ros, speaking to Lemnia. The latter of which ending up tripping again. He notes in the trip her flower crown fell from her head.

Deciding to take a break from the mother, Korrin picked up the flower crown and carefully cleared his throat. "It would seem you dropped this on your fall little one. Let me just...there." As he spoke he carefully set the crown back on her head.

Then the flame put a memory in his mind of his younger days with his own family. On His siblings, mother, Hi-. No. He couldn't think of them. He didnt want to lose his mind to the Flame over a memory. So instead, he kept a large grin on his face, making sure that grin was so big no one would see the hidden pain in his eyes. "There we are. All good."

Lemnia's eyes were brimming with tears as she sniffled and rubbed it her nose with the back of her sleeve.

"Thank you." She muttered, glancing between the two.

"I gotta get momma back now."

She pranced over to Cretas and, true to her earlier word, opened her right hand and smacked Cretas on the rump with a decently loud "SLAP!"

"EEP!" Cretas yelped with a hop in place.

"Oh, my love. I'm sorry. Did I get distracted again?" She asked, picking Lemnia up.

Lemnia nodded.

"Looks like you took another tumble, huh?"

Lemnia shook her head with an "MmMmm!", and Cretas chuckled softly before kissing her nose.

"Pardon." She called to Korrin and Ros. "Apologies for my rambling over there. I get excited sometimes." She chuckled. "Oh, hello there." She said to Ros. "My name's Cretas Estallamos. And this is my lovely little bumble bee, Lemnia."

"I said "hi" to her already. Her name's Ros." Lemnia said with a smile.

"Did you? Well, good job my love." Cretas looked back to their guests. "Korrin. I believe you asked about coming with us? Absolutely! We could use as many hands as possible for this journey!"

She turned to Ros.

"Might I interest you in joining as well? There's a new world out there beyond the horizon of the ocean. And we're going to find it, claim it, tame it, and make history! What do you say?" She asked with a pump of her fist, with Lemnia mimicking her in almost perfect sync along with a giggle.

Korrin raised both eyebrows at how Lemnia shook her mother out of her small tangent of being lost in her own world. Forcing a small chuckle down his throat for fear of embarrassing Cretas any further, Korrin listened as she said her answer to him about considering a spot for him on the expedition she’s organizing. Even though she didn’t outright say yes, the fact she allowed him to come in account of needing all the help she can find, caused his eyes to go wide, his grin almost reaching his ears.

”YAHOO! Thank you so much for this opportunity! I promise, I will not disappoint you Miss Cretas. I’m.. I’m as Happy as a Wolf Pup!” Korrin said, barely containing his own elation and happiness. He let out a laugh of relief, inhaling a huge gulp of fresh air before relaxing his grin. He had to contain it all for now, as he then turned to listen to both the banter of Mother and Daughter team, trying to convince Ros of potentially joining and coming along as well.

Korrin actually wondered if she’d join as well, if not for the sake of having more muscle on the team for any trouble that lay ahead, but to help ensure the safety of his, which would hopefully Turn into ‘their’, employer. ”The possibility of new exotic game meat is also there too.” he added, seeing if Ros was an avid hunter like he was. He didn’t have to appeal to her fighting capability, as he could tell when he first glanced at her, he’d stand no chance if he went one on one.

Cretas and Lemnia both chuckled.

"I admire your enthusiasm, Korrin. And you're right! There's going to be a lot of-"

Lemnia poked her mother's cheek, earning a soft "Oh," from her mother who smiled sheepishly and nuzzled Lemnia a bit before clearing her throat.

"Sorry. I was starting to get excited again. Shall we go talk more at the tavern? Old man Jahck has the best mead in town!"

Lemnia pinched Cretas' cheek while puffing her own in displeasure.

"Momma... You know what happens when you drink."

"Don't worry, love. I'm not going to partake in the drinks this time. I'll just have water."

"Promise?"

"Cross my heart and hope to die," she said, giving Lemnia another nuzzle.

Lemnia sighed softly and wrapped her arms around Cretas' shoulders.

"So, what do you say Korrin? Ready to head to the tavern?"

Ros gave the woman who was Lemnia's mother a small nod and smile as the woman apologized before quickly greeting her and the younger man, simply replaying with a small wave of her hand. A small chuckle creased her lips when Cretas introduced herself and reintroduced her daughter, without realizing that Ros had already made introductions with them, of sorts. "Pleasure to meet you, Cretas. Your daughter is certainly a character, that much is for certain." she said with a small smile, observing the interaction between the others as they discussed what she could only assume is what they were originally talking about before she interrupted them.

Feeling as though she was beginning to over stay her welcome, she began to inch her way out of the picture, only for Cretas to look back at her in time to suddenly stop in her tracks. "Oh uhm, actually. I was planning on talking to the captain and see if he had any work for me, as luck would have it." she said with a bit of an awkward smile as she rubbed the back of her neck. It might not exactly have been the truth or goal of what she had hoped to achieve, but it would help get her close to him, for her to be able to obtain her reward once she took care of business. Knowing full well she'd have to try to convince the others of her feign intent, "I may not be your typical explorer but, I can help with the heavy lifting as well as whatever odd jobs he may need. Seeing as I have no prior engagements, I could possibly consider joining the crew for this adventure. If he'll have me that is." she said with a coy smile.

Even if she didn't want to admit it, the opportunity to explore further, traverse the unexplored ocean waters, and discover what has yet to be traveresed, could lead to a hefty sum for her in return if she could bring anything of worth back with her. Besides, what harm could a little exploration do? Looking back at Korrin she gave the kid a small smile, "I'll take you up on that. First one to take down the largest prey...I'll uh, I'll come up with something for that bet." she gave him a small, playful wink. Looking back at Cretas as she mentioned the tavern, where she had just come from not even a few minutes prior. She could afford to go back and have a few drinks as she tried to warm up to the others, try to earn some favor in their eyes before properly talking to the captain...All was too tempting. "Drinks will be on me if you're up for it? And I'll take care of the payments for food as well, and whatever the little one may want?" Ros offered with a small wink at the small child that stood next to her mother.

"Ah... Unfortunately I made a promise not to drink today. But I'll have all the water good old Jahck can give me!"

She hoisted Lemnia up a bit, bounced a few times, and chuckled.

"And this little one will have milk, right love?"

Lemnia nodded firmly with a little grunt of approval.

"Then it's settled! To the tavern!"

Korrin chuckled at the antics of the Mother/daughter pair. ”Alright, I guess maybe I’ll have the mead then, but not too much. Wouldn’t want to get too drunk.” He said with a small laugh. Ros made a bet with him, but wasn’t sure about the wager. Ah well, if she wanted to compete about who the better hunter was, bring it on! When she winked at him, he puffed his cheeks in a small pout. ”Better be prepared for when I win then.” He mumbled. He then chuckled once more as Cretas reiterated that Lemnia wanted her to stay sober for the day.

That was fine by Korrin, more mead for him, if he wished at any rate. He was just happy that opportunity opened it’s doors for I’m to make his mark on the history of the world. As he cracked his knuckles and gave a big smirk. ”Yes Ma’am! Off to the Tavern!” He said, following her lead.

——

Korrin was in a happy mood that evening. He was back in the tavern, drinking down the last of his celebratory mug of mead. He laughed and celebrated what life had thrown at him today with his new friends. He told funny stories about some of his hunts, especially a kid friendly version about his hunt of the boar which now he wears as a cloak. ”The Boar after getting hit with one arrow runs like mad to me, I dodged and the poor fella knocked himself out on the rock face! Then I finished it off, and now I wear him on my head now! So that people can either be intimidated by his ferocious stare, or look at it and wonder, ‘How silly did that mighty beast have to be to be taken down by one hunter?’ He finished with a chuckle. ”Anyway, that’s also how I earned enough money to buy my sword.”

Lemnia's face was pale as she listened to the story of Korrin taking the boar down, and trembled in her mother's lap who, counter to her daughter, was stifling laughs behind her forearm.

"Th-th-th-th-the piggie went s-s-s-s-smash into a rock with its face?!" She stammered as she tried to lean back against her mother's belly.

"Well... Pfffft....... Should I call you Korrin the Piggie Slayer?" Cretas asked, still stifling laughter behind her forearm with tears welling in the corners of her eyes from the effort.

Ros chuckled as the mother and daughter confirmed that they'd be joining them for a few drinks, even if they were the none alcohol kind. "That sounds perfect. Can all drink till our heart's content!" she said with a small, jovial smile as the four made their way towards the tavern. The walk was short and they made it within minutes after they initially departed.

Ros gave the young man, Korrin, a small smile as he declaired that he better get ready for when he wins their small bet, "Let's leave that for fate to decide, I think." she said with a small chuckle as they entered the tavern. The group ordered their drinks, Ros placed a few bills on the counter, "Make sure to bring about two rounds each, got it?" the woman gave a small wink to the bartender before turning around and joining the others at a table. Taking their seats around the table.

The others were only a round in by the time that Korrin had finished wrapping up his story about taking down a large boar, and how he was able to trade in what he had to get his current sword. Which, Ros had to be honest, she was impressed. For how young he was, he proved to be a talented Hunter, even if some may have been exagerated. "So, the boar knocked itself unconcious?" she shouted with a laugh, wiping the tears from her eyes as she downed the current drink in her hand. Which, may or may not have been the second one since she returned to the tavern. "That reminds me of when I was out hunting about...three years back? I was tracking down a large buck, which I had wounded. Well, I was able to find it in a small clearing after passing through some brush, but to only be ambushed by a giant forest lion." she chuckled, taking another sip of her drink. "It got me good in the left shoulder, left a pretty nasty scar, but I was quicker with my draw of a bow and well, let's just say I had two large pelts to turn in that night." Ros mused.

"Looks like I'll have some good competition over in the new world, huh Korrin?"

Lemnia continued shaking in her mother's lap with a face pale as a ghostly white sheet, squeaky whimpers escaping her lips.

"H-h-h-ha wha?" She asked as she looked up at Ros. "You k-k-k-killed a flower kitty?"

Cretas, meanwhile, continued scoffing and stifling her laughter at the stories, as well as her daughter's reactions to them. Sometimes she was too cute even for her mom.

"Quite the feat." She managed to slip through the chuckles for Ros.

Lemnia continued trembling and whimpering on a stammer as she looked between the two hunters.

Korrin, noticing Lemnia’s reaction to his story slowly felt nervous at how she reacted to it. Maybe the wild boar wasn’t a great idea to tell and decided to try and mitigate the damage. ”It was more like a ‘Bonk’ then just ‘smash’. If I hadn’t dodged, well, I think someone else would have went smash instead.” He said, with a nervous look on his face as Ros asked her question. ”Pretty much, if I didn’t roll out of the way it would’ve killed me like it did several other hunters who tried to bring it down. I think either Desmiel was looking out for me that day or I was just very, very lucky.”

But then he realized what Cretas suggested he be dubbed, as an embarrassed blush spread across his face as he slowly sipped what little remained of his mead to hide said blush. ”Very funny. But I guess it’s a lot better then what my... what my Father called me. I won’t say what that is as there are children present.” as he said this, Korrin realized Lemnia was trembling as she looked between Ros and him after the former told her story of a Forest Lion attacking her, and thus he slowly put two and two together. ”Oh Lemnia I didn’t meant to make you upset with all the hunting stories. I’ve never really told stories before and this was my first time telling this one with a younger listener present.”

Even the Flame at the back of his mind seemed to cower a bit at the sight of a possibly scared child. Korrin had to figure out how to make her laugh and not focus on the stories of animal slaughter, and fast!

Cretas gave Lemnia a bit of a bounce by pushing her knee up, causing the little creature quivering at the stories she was being told to look over her shoulder in confusion.

"Don't worry, my love. The all the animals will be born again in new forms. They're probably out there right now playing in the flowers."

Lemnia blinked twice, and a big grin appeared on her face.

"You think so?!" She asked, eyes sparkling with hope.

Cretas nodded.

"I'm certain of it."

Lemnia giggled, lifting one leg over the other so she could twist around and wrap her arms around her mother's neck.

"Yay!" She cheered. "The aminals like flowers, like me!"

"Animals, my love." Cretas chuckled. "But yes. They love the flowers just like you."

Lemnia giggled and snuggled against her mother who rubbed her back and gave Korrin a wink.

Korrin sighed in relief. That was a close one. Good thing Cretas gave Lemnia an easy concept to understand about rebirth. He only wished he thought of that one sooner. ”Oh well. Better luck next time with telling stories like that to her. Still, I’ll probably leave it to her mother. I’ll just try to find a way to keep them both safe.” He resolved in his head. He noted Cretas winked ever so slyly and he acknowledged it with a nod of his own.

”Well. I indeed look forward to many things. A good competition, a great adventure, and the chance to make a name for ourselves!” He declared with a wide grin upon his face. ”Here’s to making new friends, a brave and wonderful journey, and of course to the New World!” with that he polished off what little remained of his ale.

”Here’s to proving that bastard wrong as well. May whatever success I find be another sting of regret he feels for his actions against me. Desmiel willing I garner enough fame or honor to make a barb sharp enough for him to feel. If I fail in this... Mother and sisters forgive me.” So were his thoughts that swam with the ale. Pains he kept deep under his grin. Things that’ll be left alone, but not forgotten, the next morning as he prepares to go off to the New World with his newfound friends.
