HISTORY

Family:

Mira Kaye - Sister

Miyanda Kaye - Mother

Dietrich Kaye - Father

Known Languages: English, German, a bit of Hebrew

Personal History:

Kiffen was born into the rich Kaye family under the name of 'Katherin' as the younger twin of Mira Kaye. For the most part, Kiffen's parents were extremely strict, making sure that his grades were not to dis-satisfactory levels, but also making sure that their child behaved in a manner proper for a young 'lady'. Though Kiffen had realized at a young age that he must not totally be a girl, his parents would not accept this. The most he could budge them for was a haircut when he was nine years old. He moved through private schools at a steady rate, keeping little to no company but his sister, Mira, and a boy his age for which he had grown a bit of affection for in his freshman year named Kalim. Sadly, this relationship lasted little more than half a year after his mother had been accepted into a prestigious business firm in the United States, California. Though they wouldn't say it, Kiffen knew that they had sent him and his sister to different boarding schools in an attempt to force them to at least try and fit in with a few other people. Sick of being misgendered for such a long period of time, Kiffen went behind his parent's back, requesting that his name be changed to 'Kiffen' (a name his sister had suggested as a bit of a joke) on the attendance, and that he be given a male dorm room and be written in as male on the school records.

So begins...

Joe lived in Las Vegas, which was over a four hour drive to Crossroads Academy. He didn't have his own car, and flights from Vegas to Los Angeles were only around seventy-five dollars, so it was a lot easier for him to fly into Los Angeles and take a bus to Manhattan Beach, than it was to have one of his parents drive him. They both worked and asking them to take off a day to drive him was just unnecessary. He had worked all summer at a local summer camp, and losing $100 on transportation to school sucked, but was something that he could withstand. He had only one suitcase and a backpack filled with belongings by the time that he got to school, but this wasn't really even a representation of his working class status. He didn't own a lot of things, yeah, but he also didn't want a lot of things. He had clothes, some personal hygiene items to get him through the first few weeks, his computer and his school supplies, his violin... and not much more. Anything else that he needed, he knew could be easily purchased on campus on in the surrounding area. While he didn't have a car himself, many of his friends did, and he knew that Crossroads also had a school-run shuttle that drove students into town on the weekends if he really needed something that badly.

He had gotten to school at around nine-thirty, and was completely moved in about twenty minutes later. His move in process only consisted of him dumping his suitcase into the school-provided dresser, and leaving the rest of his things at the bottom of his closet. Unlike many of the other students, he didn't need the personalized furniture and upgraded amenities. His simple personality definitely helped, considering his parents weren't going to finance flat screen televisions and queen sized beds for his room anyway. While he was already tired enough that he wanted to take a nap and catch some z's before the barbecue, his involvement in the student government association meant that that wasn't possible. A few weeks earlier, he had responded to a group email and agreed to join the committee that was helping freshman students move in and get acquainted with the school. All it took was a few minutes of socializing for him to get the energy he had lost while travelling back, and by the time he headed back towards Chase, around eleven, he was ready for the rest of the day. His stomach was definitely ready for the food, if that meant anything, at least, but then again, it was a rare occasion when Joe wasn't ready and willing to eat a feast-sized meal.

This year, he was rooming with Kiffen, Antonio and William, and he hadn't run into any of the three yet since moving in. So, on his walk back to his dorm, he messaged the three, responded to Deanna's group message separately, and also sent out a couple of other texts. By the time that he was entering 2B, he had sent out the following, and a few more to other random Artists.

To: Kiffen, Antonio, William
Hey, have you guys moved in yet? Heading back to the room now if anyone needs help

To: Dytto
Heading back to Chase... had to fulfill my student gov duties by helping the freshman move in. Btw I still want you to join student gov this year. You've got that leadership stuff in you, D-Mac... and don't try to tell me that you're too busy dancing or whatever it is you do. You always seem to have time to let me kick ur ass in ping pong, you can make time to keep your buddy company at those weekly meetings

To: Katherine
Kat! Did you move onto campus okay? Need any help?

To: London
Hey! Hope I see you at the barbecue!

To: Ellie
I better see your face at the barbecue
