Kiffen was born into the rich Klein family under the name of 'Katherin' as the younger indentical twin of Mira Klein. For the most part, Kiffen's parents were extremely strict, making sure that his grades were not to dis-satisfactory levels, but also making sure that their child behaved in a manner proper for a young 'lady'. Though Kiffen had realized at a young age that he must not totally be a girl, his parents would not accept this. The most he could budge them for was a haircut when he was nine years old. He moved through private schools at a steady rate, keeping little to no company but his sister, Mira, and a boy his age for which he had grown a bit of affection for in his freshman year named Kalim. Sadly, this relationship lasted little more than half a year after his mother had been accepted into a prestigious business firm in the United States, California. Though they wouldn't say it, Kiffen knew that they had sent him and his sister to different boarding schools in an attempt to force them to at least try and fit in with a few other people.
