Introduction

The Bubonic Plague is well known through out the worlds history as one of the most horrifyingly deadly disease. It's claimed millions of lives, most of lives being claimed in places like Africa and Europe. People cursed the name of the grim reaper, as well as many other things.Everyone was angry and Imagebitter, their loved ones dying what felt like every single day. Piles of bodies built up on the streets, and so many people gave up hope in ever finding a cure. Nations of people seamed to either beg death, or curse him- or should we say her?... Truth be told the myth of Death being a physical being was all hocus pocus to everyone who found sanctuary in another 'all powerful' being.

But the rare few who believed in Death, or the Grim Reaper, knew very little about her. For instance everyone assumed she was a male demon, when in reality she's actually a goddess. Basically the female version of Hades. They also thought she works alone, sweeping all over the world and claiming all the dead or dying souls she could, all in Earths chronological order. What really happens it, yes, she does get as many souls as she can, but it's not like she has to be there to supervise the death of the unfortunate being. She also doesn't stay in order of historical events. Instead she'll hang out in one place, during one specific time in history. Being a Goddess she can go into Earths past, future, or present. For example she can go all the way back to the creation of the world if wanted. It would be present for the forming bacteria there, but for her it would be the past. She bases her reference point on the year 2016 for Earth time. So for instance, at the moment, she's in the time period 1347. The very first year the plague started to attack the world.

Another thing humans assume is that Death works alone. They are also completely wrong. As a Goddess of death it is not only her job to take the souls of the dammed, but also to train others to take the souls as well. These others are what are known as demons. ImageShe trains the young demons, called Vaultarians, to become her followers for eternity. Sometimes they are pure Vaultarians, sometimes they are fallen angels sent down to Earth by the lead god, Xian. Those cases are rare, and quite difficult to train. Death prefers normal Vaultarians, due to the fallen followers of Xian being rather rude to her, thinking they're her superior. So normally, if they get on her nerves, Death just sends the disgraced angels to hell where they have to deal with screaming people all day.

So while they get to watch people burn in hell, Death trains 5 Vaultarians (or black angels) to become full on demons. While working with them in 1347 she has to deal with people cursing her name, almost every one blaming her for the plague. Now normally this actually is something that Death would curse down upon certain regions of the world, just to have some fun in her job, and because population control. But instantly upon finding out how bad the plague was getting, her 5 fellow Vaultarians have brought it to her attention that not only was she not the one to curse the world, but also strange mythical creatures in both god and human fairy tales were starting to come to life. Worried that there is a greater power then her attempting to rule and control the flow of souls leaving the world, Death works on finding out what strange creature is causing the massacre, with the help of her fellow apprentices.

(OOC: So normally I'll actually post in OOC, when I'm in OOC xD, but for now I'm going to put it here for everyone who joins to see. Obviously there's only 1 actual other character in here at the moment (I hope that changes) so instead of waiting forever to have all the spots filled I'm going to just start the RP, and whenever someone joins in in the RP, then they'll be a new apprentice joining Meredith and Ava'Lee (Who's already joined and is ready).

The man threw himself to his knees, begging and begging someone or something to save his daughter. He held a bundle of something in his arms, and when it started to cry Meredith realized it was his daughter. She stared at the man, her brown eyes looking him up and down. With a wrinkle of her nose she turned back to the vegetable stand she was at, and finished filling her basket. After paying the owner she flipped up her hood to cover her hair, which was loose under it, and started to walk home. Many people gave her weird looks. It was unnatural to see a woman wearing tight trousers, and a corset outside of her shirt, which was long sleeved and had a low V-neck. Another thing that was odd is that she carried a sword, among other knives, openly.

Paying no mind to the idiot mortals Meredith strolled up to a rather large funeral home. "Grim's Funeral Home' It read. She walked in, the door opening up to a small front room with 4 or 5 caskets on display. She nodded to the man at the desk before walking in the back door, which had 'Staff Only' painted messily onto it. Closing the door tightly behind her she took a deep breath. The home that was hidden in the funeral home smelt sweet, and was warm compared to the gloom and chill outside. Pushing her now damp hood down, she walked further into the home. It looked normal enough. Clean, well furnished, and it was mostly open planned. If you went up the stairs onto the second level there would be actual rooms. If you did, however, walk into the bathroom you would soon realize that there was running water, as well as a 21st century shower, sink, toilet, and toilet paper.

Going over to the kitchen, which was sectioned off from the living room by a hand carved table, she set her basket down on the counter. Another thing they had that most people wouldn't notice unless they looked at the lanterns hanging from the ceiling is that the home had electricity. Meredith sighed, flicking her hair out from under where the collar of her hood held it down. Taking off the gloves she wore she started to put all the food items she bought away. When she heard someone behind her she turned, and saw a young girl standing across the table from her. "Hello Ava'Lee," She formally greeted her apprentice. She turned back to what she was doing, finishing up putting some onions away.

Ava'Lee had spent the last few hours in bed, wearing nothing more than an old NASCAR t-shirt that hit slightly below the top of her thighs. When you're dead there's no medical reason to sleep, but Ava'Lee was still in the habit of laying down from time to time just to think, or because there was nothing else to do. Today was one of those mornings where Ava simply wanted to lay in bed with her thoughts, however as soon as she heard the front door open she'd hop up and make her way to the kitchen table.
"Hello Ava'Lee" said Meredith, and Ava'Lee would take a seat at the table and kick her legs up before responding. ”Madam, another beautiful day in the neighborhood?”
Ava’Lee had made it known that she hated the time period they were in, so her playful sarcasm shouldn’t be much of a shock to Madam Death, as she liked to call Meredith every now and again.
”So, what’s on our itinerary for today? Whose day are we gonna ruin?”

Meredith looked over to Ava, her lips pursing at how she was sitting, but didn't say anything as she leaned against the counter, crossing her arms. "Oh we have a lot, here let me get my list," Her voice was dripping with sarcasm as she made the motions to get up from the counter she was leaning on, but instead gave Ava a look. Relaxing back to her normal position she said, "I don't know. We're going to go around, probably be heroic to some people... But seriously, I have no clue who's going to be dying tonight, but when they are close to dying I'll know and we can head over there... Also we're getting a new apprentice today."

With that she walked away, her boots softly making a 'thump' sound as she walked heavily with her heel when she wasn't trying to be stealthy. Going upstairs she had to walk past 5 other bedrooms before getting to hers. When she walked into it there was a bed, although she never sleeps. There's no need when you're a goddess. It's just there for looking normal as well as.... Other activities. She walked past it and went to her closet. There was clothing from all the centuries. 18 hundreds, 19, 12, 15. Most were just simple pieces of clothing, but some were extravagant dresses and beautiful heals. She smiled remembering the day she got to dance with the king of Scotland. Picking out some more comfortable formal wear she slipped them on. It was dark skinny jeans and a button up red and black plaid from the 21st century. Once comfortable she went back downstairs.

Adelajda "Addie" Butler Image

Addie was told that she'd be meeting Death herself very soon, but she didn't expect soon to come so... Soon. The last place she was was in the rain forest with a buff black man named Luka, unaware of which era or time period she was in. She had just been in a place where she could practice her water manipulation abilities. She wasn't sure how long she was with Luka for or even how long she'd been dead for, she hadn't asked anyone about anything. While Addie was being escorted up the steps of Grim's Funeral Home by Luka, she couldn't help but notice a family all bunched up together, coughing and slowly dying. The sound and smell (Oh god, the smell) made her cringe slightly, so she looked away in disgust and tried to ignore their annoying begging. What did they expect her to do? She could only kill them, not cure her.

Luka opened up the door which lead to a small room. There were some caskets around and a guy sitting at the desk. He and Luka started speaking in what sounded like French, or something and she just stood there. Addie awkwardly looked around the room before making her way towards a casket. She ran her finger over the soft, wooden surface and admired the craftsmanship that clearly went into making the casket.

Adelajda.

Addie heard her name from Luka's tongue and she spun to look at him.
Yes, Luka?

It is time for you to meet Madame Death and her apprentice.
Luka replied with a strong nod and earned a smile from Addie. He approached her and pulled her in for a strong hug, to which she was surprised and only slightly awkward.
Training you to use your ability appropriately has been good. Keep in touch.
With that, he released her and left quickly. Addie cleared her throat awkwardly and rubbed her cloak off. The man pointed to a door and told her to knock, so she walked up to the door and knocked a few times, a gulp escaping her throat.

When there was a knock on the door she glanced to Ava'Lee. "She's here," Meredith said as she smoothly walked over to the door. Unlocking it she swung the door open, and looked down to the new 'recruit'. Her lips pursed seeing her. She remembered her, seeing as she was standing right there, invisible at the time, when she was raped and then shot in the back of the head. "Evening," Meredith said. She stepped back, allowing Adelajda to pass by. When she was in the room Meredith closed the door. "So I assume you must be rather confused... At the moment it's the mid 1300's, the year the Bubonic Plague started. First things first we're here to take the souls of the dead and dying. Secondly we're figuring out who in the world actually started this plague."

She frowned remembering that she wasn't the one to create all this death. It had recently been told to her, by Ava, that she wasn't the one to put a curse upon this time period. "But before we even start going out tonight and gathering everything up, I'm sure you'd like to see your room... Clothing from all the centuries are in the closet, for tonight wear pants, shirt, and a cloak from this era..." She paused to look Addie up and down. "Looks like you've already got the cloak bit down... Follow me, I'll show you to your room." Pressing her hand to Adelajda's back she lead her past Ava, who was still lounging around in her large NASCAR shirt. "That's Ava'Lee Smith, another student of mine. She's been with me for a few years now," Meredith said as they went up the stairs. She went to the last door on the right, which was across from Ava's. "This is your room... You don't need to sleep, seeing as you're dead, but if it brings you comfort to lay on the bed and close your eyes you can do so," Meredith explained.

She left Addie to do whatever she wished now. She stopped halfway down the stairs. "Oh! And we're heading out once it gets dark, so please be ready for then!" Meredith yelled up before continuing all the way down the stairs. "That accounts for you, too, Ava'Lee," She said crossly, passing Ava.

Image Ava'Lee laughed softly at Meredith's response and pretended like she was waiting for this so-called list to be pulled out of thin air. When a list didn't magically appear she'd feign disappointment. "Aww, no list? What a shame!"
Meredith would simply give Ava a look before responding for real this time, explaining that she didn't really have a specific plan for the day but if someone was dying she'd know and then they'd have something to do. Ava nodded and stood up to walk back in her room, but she'd stop as soon as Meredith spoke up again and mentioned them getting a new apprentice.
"Wait, what?" she asked, but Meredith walked away leaving her question unanswered. She'd watch the alluring woman walk up the stairs for a moment before following her up them. However when she reached the top stair and saw Meredith walk into her room she'd sigh and walk back downstairs - electing to wait for her mentor to return downstairs versus interrupting her in her room.

Several minutes later Meredith would return downstairs were Ava'Lee was waiting, sitting back at the same table she had been sitting down at when Meredith first returned home.
"So, where did you find this new apprentice?" Ava inquired, but before she'd get a response a knock would come at the door and Meredith would announce that the new apprentice was here.
Ava'Lee stood up to lean against the wall beside the stairway and watch as Meredith welcomed in a slender Blonde. The goddess would give the Blonde a run down on what time period they're in and why they're here before commenting on her attire "Looks like you've already got the cloak bit down..."
Such a comment made Ava'Lee snicker a bit, but the blue-eyed brunette would quiet down as the two walked towards her. The Goddess would introduce the new apprentice to Ava and she'd smirk softly and look the blonde up and down just as her mentor did, before shrugging and walking back to her seat.

Ava was left alone downstairs for a few minutes before spotting Meredith making her way back downstairs. The Goddess would stop halfway down and announce that they'd be heading out once it gets dark.
"Oo, something to do!" Ava'Lee said while hoping to her feet to follow Meredith into the next room. "She's cute, didn't expect a Blonde though....the color is so peppy and this job is well, anything but."
After flouncing down on the couch Ava'Lee would pull out a Kindle Fire from a nearby dresser and turn it on. "So, did you sense a juicy lead for us to follow tonight or what?" she asked, while looking through her catalog of e-books.

Meredith looked down at Ava, her lips pulling into a slight frown. She sighed, not in the mood to nag everyone about everything. "I have absolutely no idea," Meredith responded, her voice sounding semi-tired.[/color] "After we have a walk around the city I'd like to explore the surrounding area, see if there's any sign of like a... Necromancer or something...." She looked to Ava, suddenly realizing that she had commented on the new apprentice.

"To be honest it's a nice change, having someone who's blonde... I won't explain her past, though, she can do that on her own- Wait.. Did I ever tell you her name," Meredith got this weird look, making her look almost like a worried human. Her eyebrow raised as she looked at the ground, her lips pursing at the fact that she can't remember if she said her name or not. "No I don't think so... Her name is Adelajda, she goes by Addie, though..." She looked up when Addie was coming down the stairs. She looked overwhelmed, like she was just accepted into a bunch of really good collages.

Meredith looked up at her, frowning a bit, but didn't say anything as she leaned back and crossed her legs. She noted that Addie didn't even change. "Are you comfortable in that?" Meredith asked, flashing Ava a warning glare when she started to smirk behind her tablet. "I can easily take that away," Meredith said to Ava'lee like a irritated mother.

Adelajda "Addie" Butler Image

Addie felt her knees go weak when the door opened and shivered under the woman's stare. The woman who was surprisingly beautiful. She didn't know what she expected, but she didn't expect Death to be pretty. When she thought of what Death could possibly look like, she imagined an aged woman with poor posture and a huge nose, like the typical witch idea. However, she was far from that. Addie simply nodded politely at the woman and stepped inside, taking in her surroundings while listening to her explanation of what time they're in. By the end of her explanation, she was more than confused but kept her mouth shut and decided to save questions for later.

Addie listened attentively to what the woman had to say but her attention was taken away from her when the other apprentice let out a laugh. The blonde raised an eyebrow at her, but still remained silent until she was introduced. Despite Ava'Lee remaining silent, Addie decided to finally say something in her thick Polish accent.
Addie will do.
Unfortunately, her voice came out quietly so she wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't heard by anyone before being led away.

The blonde went up the stairs with Death and gave her a small nod.
Alright, thank you.
She replied in a loud enough voice this time and closed the door behind her. Finally, time alone. She hadn't been alone for days, as Luka had been doing last minute training with her before it was time for her to leave and go be Death's Apprentice. Addie still couldn't believe it and just saying that felt incredibly strange to her. Her life (or lack there of) had changed so much in such a small amount of time, it was insane. The blonde took the little time she had left before dark to examine her room and enjoy the fact that she was alone.

Her room didn't have any particular color theme or anything of the sort, but it was her room, so she was certain that no one would mind if she made some changes to it later and added her own personal touches. However, she didn't have the time or furniture to do anything at the time so she settled for setting her cloak aside on an armchair in the corner of the room and lying down on her bed. Addie stared at her ceiling and sighed while twiddling her thumbs. When it was finally getting dark, she pulled herself out of bed and tied her dark blue cloak back around her neck loosely. She stopped in front of the full body mirror before leaving her room and inspected herself one last time. Addie wore a plain white blouse that buttoned up to her neck and had it tucked into tight, black dress pants that reached just above her belly button. She had dark brown ankle boots with neat laces and a dark brown belt of the same color. While looking at herself in the mirror, she noticed that her the cuffs of her blouse were unbuttoned, so she quickly did them up, re-tightened her boots and left the room after putting out the few lit candles.

Are you comfortable in that?

Almost as soon as Addie came downstairs, she was asked that question by the woman who's name she had yet to catch. Addie looked down at her clothing and back up at her.
Wh- I mean, yeah, it's alright. Should I change into something that is more appropriate to this time period?
Her accent was very prominent in her voice when she spoke English, since it wasn't her first language. Addie wondered what they were talking about before she entered for Death to threaten to take away Ava'Lee's strange device. She had been born way before tablets were a thing, so it was news to her.

Meredith looked over to Addie, giving her a small smile as she looked her up and down. "The outfit is fine, as long as it's dark colors. We're going out late, so it's not like anyone will see you, accept drunk men and prostitutes... And the dead, but that's not the point," Her lips pursed in the end. She looked down at Ava'Lee. "Get your nose out of that electronic book and go get changed... Please." Although she threw a fit, Ava did as she was told, stomping upstairs. Meredith looked back over to Addie, who had taken a few shy steps into the room. It occurred to her that she never actually told Adelajda her name. "By the way, I'm Meredith Grim... Call me Madam Death like Ava'Lee does and you'll have a very unpleasant time working under me for the rest of eternity." She flashed Addie a small smile.

Once Ava was back downstairs Meredith stood up from the arm rest of the couch she was sitting on. "Ava, if you could politely watch over Addie and answer any questions she has, that'd be lovely," Meredith nodded to both girls before heading back upstairs. Going into her closet she scoured around for a bit. She had plenty of black clothing, but most of it was dreaded designer stuff. Not something you want to be sneaking around a plagued town with. After some time she finally put on a blouse, a pair of skinny leather pants as well as a black cloak which stopped just above her waist, and then slipped on some leather riding boots.

Content she went downstairs again, reaching up to put her hood on. "Once we're finished making rounds tonight, making sure no one is going past their 'dead line'... Ha... dead line," Meredith laughed at her own joke, "We'll go around and look for the necromancer ruins I've been told about... She wouldn't run into any problems, but if someone or something does give us trouble, don't try and fight it... I don't feel like having to be a hero and save you or something. She looked between the girls before nodding contently. They were all dressed up and now they were heading out.

Meredith took the lead, going out to the front room with all the coffins. The torches had been put out and the man behind the desk was gone. Going outside Meredith just simply started to walk around, not really going in any general direction. She occasionally stopped to look at dead piles of bodies. She was checking to make sure none of them were a live, and secretly she was wishing all of them were gone, seeing as she hated the idea of the living suffering in a pile of dead friends and family. When she finally did sadly reach a still breathing man in the middle of a pile she frowned. "Addie, would you like to try and do the 'honors'?... It's very simple, just touch him and wish him dead. He'll simply stop breathing, and he'll die quickly..." Her voice was low in respect for the man. Humans might be lowly to her race, but that doesn't mean ending a life is fun. She calls this job a punishment not only because she hates people, but also because no one wants to spend the rest of eternity killing people.

The dead say that they want a second chance, thus why the join her, but they don't realize how horrible the life style can be sometimes. It takes forever to even remotely get use to it...

(OOC:: Hey, so I didn't wanna say anything at first but after the last post i really wanna bring up God Modding. Now I'm not as picky as other ppl but I still take issue with someone else controlling my character's behavior and reactions. So, I'm going to write how my character reacted to Meredith asking her to get her nose out of the tablet and disregard you saying she had a fit and stomped upstairs. Then I'll finish it with where you left off! =D)

Ava'Lee shrugged her shoulders when Meredith refused to share the new apprentices life story, and while she understood her mentor's decision part of her still wished Death had dished on the newbie a little more.

When Addie returned downstairs Ava didn't look up from her tablet and was barely following along with what Meredith was saying towards the girl, wowever when Meredith raised her voice and told Ava to get her nose out of her "electronic book" Ava'Lee would sigh before looking up and over towards Meredith. She stared at death for a few seconds with a look of slight annoyance and humor on her face before eventually standing up from the couch. "Yes Mother Dearest." she'd say sarcastically, before putting the tablet back where it belonged and casually walking out of the room and up the stairs - making sure to wink suggestively at Addie as she passed her by.

It took the sassy brunette only a few minutes to change out of her oversized t-shirt and into something more appropriate for the time period. Ava always took measures to look as if she came from wealth when they walked out and about and tonight was no different as she made her way downstairs wearing a classy black medieval gown with silver adornments underneath an open black hooded cloak made of velvet.
"I'm ready Madam." said Ava as a way of announcing she was dressed, and as soon as Meredith made her way towards the front room Ava'Lee would follow suit, but only before lightly tapping Addie on her bum. "Now don't you look cute."

Ava left the hood on her cloak down underneath her long flowing hair for the first few minutes of their outdoor journey, but after a while she saw it fit to tuck her hair and face away underneath the bulk of her hood.
Despite being by Meredith's side for a few years now Ava'Lee still crinkled her nose up at the site of piled up bodies, and not so much because of what they are, but how they were disposed. So when the goddess stumbled upon a poor soul who was alive in the middle of a pile of bodies on the street and then suggested Addie do the so-called honors, Ava happily stepped aside.
"You're up sweet cheeks"

Addie nodded at the brunette woman and pulled her hood over her head, then made note to hide the white blouse under her cloak. She crinkled her nose when drunk men and prostitutes were mentioned, but bit her tongue. She watched the exchange between the two brunettes and was taken back awkwardly when Ava'Lee winked at her. Addie watched as she left the room but her attention was snapped back to Meredith when her name was finally learned.
Oh, I was wondering about. Nice to finally have a name to your face.

Addie waited patiently for Ava'Lee to return and expected them to leave right away but was surprised to see that Meredith was left the room as well. When Death came back and made a horrible joke, Addie didn't even bother encouraging it, keeping a straight face. The blonde jumped slightly when she felt a hand on her behind and she wiped her head towards the obvious culprit.
I should probably get used to strange things like that...
She mumbled to herself before following both women with a slight redness in her cheeks. Face cheeks.

Addie followed behind the two ladies as they walked the unfamiliar streets. She admired the scenery around her and how different it was from the 1900's. There were no vehicles at all, no Nazis and a lot of dying people. It was a scarier change and she personally didn't enjoy it yet. She knew she'd get used to it, but that didn't mean she'd have to like it. When they stopped in front of the pile of dead bodies, the Polish girl wasn't expecting it at all and almost stepped on a rotting hand. Addie gasped and took quick steps back, shielding her nose.
This is horrific.
She muttered through her sleeve. Addie listened carefully to Meredith and although she didn't like it, again, she'd have to get used to it. Besides, it's not like she hasn't taken a few lives before.

Adelajda took a step forward once more and lowered her sleeve from her face. She pulled down her hood to better see which poor soul she'd be collecting and spotted the suffering man in the middle of all the other dead bodies. The blonde sighed at the man who she assumed didn't do anything to deserve this fate and told herself that she'd be ending his suffering. That helped her as she reached out her hand to his dirty forehead and gripped his temples. Addie inhaled, pictured herself sucking the life out of him, exhaled and squeezed his temples a little harder while his breathing stopped. The blonde apprentice stepped away from the rotting pile and bit her lip.
I... Did I do it?
She asked, slightly confused.

Meredith's lips pursed as she watched the young apprentice take the life of the suffering man. She took a step forward when Addie asked if she took his soul correctly. She put her index and middle finger against the mans neck, felt around for a few seconds before pulling her hand away and nodding. She forced a smile on her face as she looked over to Addie and nodded. Looking back at Ava she just sighed and started walking again, putting her hood up, which fell down when she checked Addie's work. They walked a few more houses down, but when they walked past an alley way someone suddenly grabbed Meredith's arm.

Instantly she gave a half-assed effort to pull her hand away from whoever was grabbing her, but instead the drunken idiot just followed her pull out of the alley. It was some tall stalky man who had vomit and other disgusting bodily fluids all over himself, as if he threw up all over himself and then blew his nose into his shirt. "Hey pretty lady, how about you and your friends here have some fun with me?" The guy asked, his voice husky and slurred. Meredith's temper instantly shot up, the color of her eyes turning a luminescent yellow when she blinked. She had no patients for drunken pimps, and she had no problem knocking them around.

She ripped her wrist from the mans grasped, and backhanded him. "I advise you keep on walking, friend," Meredith growled, anger clearly written all over her face. She instinctively stayed between the man and her girls. The man, who was now an angry drunk, picked himself off the ground. "You fucking bitch!" He yelled, pulling a dagger out of his boot, rushing at Meredith. Death sighed, rolling her glowing eyes. She dodged the knife attack by moving to the side. When the man passed her she dead legged him, making him fall to his knees with a cry of pain. "Let me show you, how bitchy I can be," Meredith said when she grabbed his chin with one hand, holding his armed hand with the other.

The mans eyes went wide, and he started to scream. The color from his face started to drain, and his eyes started to roll back. Within the last few seconds of his life he was convulsing and pissing himself. Within seconds the man was dead. Eyes still ablaze she threw the body to the ground, standing up straight. Meredith looked to her two girls, her breath heavy. Without another word she fixed her hair, which came out from under her hood, and was now covering her face. With that she walked away, her eyes slowly returning to their normal shade of brown.

As she watched Addie take the life of the man amidst the pile of dead bodies Ava'Lee would remember her first time under the tutelage of Meredith and smile.

The threesome would continue down the old dirty road for a minute or two before Meredith was abruptly grabbed by the wrist and pulled towards an alleyway. Death refused to let herself be pulled into the alley and instead pulled the man out, but he didn't take the hint and kept at it with the nasty demeanor and remarks. Ava'Lee smiled to herself, she knew where this was heading because her mentor has never, ever, let herself be so disrespected without retaliating in spades.
Sure enough Meredith took but so much before lifting the man up off the ground and slowly but surely draining his life from his body.
As Death walked away from the body Ava'Lee would lean over it and raise her eyebrows a bit before sarcastically asking the corpse; "Now what have we learned?"

Image

The blue eyed brunette would snicker to herself for a moment before quickly catching up to Meredith, but as soon as she came to a comfortable speed behind her mentor she'd spot someone, or something, that just wasn't right.
"Hold up." she'd say, before slowly stepping in the direction of a figure completely hidden underneath a thick long black cloak. It only took a few steps to verify something she had question only a few seconds earlier.
"He's levitating!" she said to herself in a whisper just as the figure turned towards her with it's eyes glowing a bright green. Ava instinctively began to conjure her purple energy in her hand in the shape of a sword, but before she could do much of anything the figured shot back into an alleyway at a speed that was most definitely inhuman. Ava gave a sigh of relief when the figure fled, but her relief would vanish when a trio of Camazotz's flew out of the dark alley. Ava'Lee instinctively conjured balls of purple flame in her hands and released them in the direction of the giant bats. Two fell to the ground badly burnt and writhing in pain, but the third one continued towards ferociously and caused Ava to fall to the ground to avoid getting hit by the bat. Ava'Lee quickly pulled herself up and flipped backwards towards her companions. The third Camazotz was out of sight at the moment but she could feel it's presence still and would again conjure purple energy into the shape of a large sword while looking around frantically.

Adelajda "Addie" Butler Image
After taking his soul from the man, Addie stood staring at the body for a few moments before turning back around and catching up to the two ladies. While they were walking down the street, Meredith was grabbed by a drunken fool in an alleyway and Addie completely forgot about the event that happened not two minutes before. She narrowed her eyes at the poor, stupid man who she suspected was about to die.

You fucking bitch!

All of a sudden, Meredith had the man's chin in her hands and he was wildly screaming. His face looked horrifying and quite frankly, very ugly. It felt like a long, disgusting process to her and she looked away, covering her mouth. There were certainly times were the deaths were quick and simple and then there was that. She shook her head and finally turned back around when she heard the man's body fall to the ground.

Now what have we learned?

Addie couldn't help but grin a little bit at this, the man honestly did have it coming. However, that doesn't change that his death was really gross. The blonde also found it kinda scary how Meredith's eyes changed colors when she got moody and made a mental note to not get on her bad side. She would continue behind Meredith and beside Ava'Lee after taking a step over the body to walk along with the girls. However, they were soon stopped in their journey again when Ava'Lee noticed a strange figure and when Addie saw it too, her eyes widened and her lips parted in confusion.

She didn't exactly know what to do in this situation and if this would be another "I'll kill it with a single touch" or something more. The figure fled in the alleyway at an incredible speed and she had a feeling that this would be something more. To confirm her suspicions, three terrifying creatures flew out of the alley and she gulped.
Oh my god, what are those?!
The blonde muttered to herself before watching the battle go down between Ava'Lee and the beasts. She surely thought that the bat creature would ram into her but in a quick moment, Ava'Lee managed to dive out of the way. Addie exhaled.

Adelajda examined the area around them and found that there were no buckets of water or puddles nearby so she'd have to settle for the 60% of water in her body. She clenched her fists and they started to quickly freeze and eventually, the ice would build on top of ice and it became a thick layer covering her fists. She looked all around her, wondering where exactly the third one could possibly be.

Meredith didn't even see the levitating being, she was too busy paying attention to a distant fluttering sound, wondering what it was. When Ava went to confront the figure she stopped, eyebrow raised. When the Camazotz torpedoed out of the alley she instantly held a ball of fire in her fist, it's blue hue illuminating her side. When Ava managed to kill two she dropped her defensive position, but only for a second before realizing the third one wasn't caught. All three of the girls had no idea where the third one went, Meredith was looking around franticly.

Finally it's presents was known by an ear piercing screech. Meredith's head shot up just in time to see it diving down, straight for Addie. Meredith had noted that the girl had started to build ice upon her hands, but her instant reaction was to shoot a flame at it. That's exactly what she did, throwing the flame like a base ball while calling, "Addie!" She hit its wing, causing it to screech in pain, falling off course and therefore slamming into the ground only feet away from where Addie was.

Her shock gone, Meredith looked to the two apprentices' by her, the shock being replaced with worry. It didn't show outwardly, of course, but internally she was freaking out, hoping Ava'lee was okay. She went up to her, giving her a quick inspection. She gave a slight nod. "You okay?" She asked, trying to make her voice as emotionless as possible. She felt like her heart could be heard, seeing as it was pounding against her chest.

"You okay?" Meredith asked while making her way over to Ava'Lee. "Yeah I'm dandy, that bastard made me dirty my pretty cloak though!"
Ava would brush mud off the bottom of her cloak with her hand for a moment before looking back over towards Meredith, her expression and tone much more serious now.
"I refuse to beleive that was a coincidence. Whoever, or whatever, was over there sent those things after us on purpose. What should we do, should we follow him or not?"
Ava was usually sure of what she wanted to do but in this case she was genuinely stumped. Following the creature/figure could yield some answers for them and finally get Meredith on the road to discovering who is behind all the death around them. However, on the other hand going on some wild chase after a mysterious figure could endanger all of them or possibly waste their time if they don't discover anything new.

Image

"What to do, what to do....I really have no idea, maybe we should follow him. I wanna get that son of a bitch back!" Ava'Lee thought to herself as she bit down on her lip. Addie suddenly crossed her mind though and she'd look over towards the new apprentice and smile slightly. "To answer your previous question they're called Camazotz.....or in other words, ferocious giant bats with attitude problems. Don't try to outrun them, you won't, and don't think they've fled when you suddenly can't see one - they're just waiting for your guard to drop. You don't let them go or run, you simply aim to kill the bastards."
Ava'Lee noticed the build up of ice on Addie's hands and would raise an eyebrow before covering one of Addie's fist with her own hand. "You can relax now, they attack in packs upfront and there was only three, we got them all."

Adelajda "Addie" Butler Image
Addie was prepared for whatever the bat creatures were (or so she thought she was) when she heard Meredith call her name, then whipped her head around to see the beast. She narrowed her eyes and tried getting a good look at what it was, curiosity taking over her and she hadn't snapped out of it until a fire ball was flung at it. Addie hopped back just in case and watched it's flaming body slide towards where she was previously standing.

Adelajda took a few slow steps towards the creature and the smell of it's burning body suddenly filled her nostrils, causing her face to scrunch up in disgust. I don't know what I was expecting... The blonde thought to herself before looking over at the two girls who were discussing the event that just took place in front of them. She quietly walked up to the two and listened in on them discussing, before Ava'Lee turned towards her and began explaining the beast. Addie nodded sternly at the brunette, she was still very tense after what happened.
Seems fair enough.

When she felt a hand cover her own, she tensed up once more and clenched her icy fists even tighter, not expecting the sudden touch from Ava'Lee. Addie eyed the other apprentice and after a few moments of studying her face, her hands began to liquefy.
My hands will get really wet, so you might want to pull away.
She said with a laugh as water began pouring off of her hand. Addie made a note to drink as much water as she could later, seeing as the melting water was originally extracted from her body.

The blonde apprentice turned around and wiped her now thawed but soaked hands off on her cloak, already beginning to feel thirsty. She walked back up to the burnt corpse and tilted her head at it, inspecting some parts of it. Addie found this creature and many other aspects of her new life very interesting and wanted to learn more. The blonde walked up towards Meredith.
Ma'am, do you have a book or something of the sort that I can study with? I want to know the things I'll be dealing with.
Addie's sudden curiosity wasn't common, so it was safe to assume that she wouldn't act this way often. She had a tendency to keep her curious thoughts to herself after her death but sometimes just had to know.

Meredith looked at Ava when she was talking, and frowned at the suggestion of going after the cloaked figure. "Those bats were a smoke screen for whatever that thing was to get away... I won't allow you to go after it, so please calm down. Whatever or whoever that was, I'm certain we'll have another run in with it," She said, her voice ordering, but actually kinda soft. She understood Ava'Lee's anger, and she herself was angry. Her over-protective-mothering side was starting to become visible.

Meredith took a few steps back while Ava and Addie were talking, so she took a few deep breaths and pushed away all the unnatural feelings. It was harder to keep her anger down, seeing as her curiosity was fueling it, but soon enough she was calm, cool, and collected. When Adelajda started talking to her, she looked up. When she asked for books on the creatures Meredith smiled. "I have plenty of books you can read about them, and other creatures.... But I have to warn you, they're all fairy tales... The creatures, Camazotz, are suppose to be mythical, as well as everything else that me and Ava ran into before you got here." With that she turned and walked away, not wanting to waist anymore time.

Meredith looked up, the horizon was starting to glow with the sunlight. Her, and her apprentices had done a complete sweep of the city they were in. She led the girls back to the funeral home, but didn't go inside. She looked to Ava. "Please go inside and stay inside, no visitors, and don't make a mess, please... I'm going to stay out, I would like to just do a quick search around in the woods," Meredith looked between the two girls before giving them a small smile.

Even though Ava'Lee knew Meredith was right she still wanted to follow the cloaked individual and make them pay.
Slowly but surely Ava would relax as Meredith and Addie began to talk. She was taken aback a bit by Addie's request for a book, not because it was a weird request but because most individuals wouldn't think to ask for something like that. Ava admired Addie's willingness to learn and knew that her obvious curiosity in the Camazotz would prove to be a good quality.
"Like the smell of burnt bat? Yummy." Ava muttered sarcastically after Meredith finished responding to Addie.

The threesome would spend the rest of the night sweeping the area for any signs of necromancers, mysterious going ons, or otherworldly creatures. Sadly the trio found nothing too out of the ordinary and would head back to the funeral home as dawn approached.

"Please go inside and stay inside, no visitors, and don't make a mess, please... I'm going to stay out, I would like to just do a quick search around in the woods." Meredith said as soon as they arrived outside of the funeral home. Ava'Lee sighed a bit before agreeing to go inside, her heart wanted to follow Meredith no matter what but her brain knew better than to push Death's buttons by disobeying a direct order.
"Fine, Fine, Fine. Come on blondie, I'll show you some of my 21st century toys if you'd like - it'll blow your mind a bit. Or maybe I'll strip ya down and dress you up in something cuter, come - lets play."
Ava'Lee winked at Addie before opening the door and walking inside. She'd wait for the new apprentice to step inside before closing the door, locking it behind her, and then heading to the back.

"So, would you like to indulge me in what landed you on the other side of the coin? Or in other words, how did ya die? I'll share mine if you share yours..."
Ava assumed the young girls story was ugly due to the fact Meredith refused to tell her, so as she threw her cloak on a chair and then flounced down on the couch she wasn't half expecting the girl to refuse to talk.

While observing the two other girls with her, she found herself noticing that though Meredith liked to act cold and intimidating, she really cared for Ava'Lee and Addie didn't know how to feel about that. She dropped this thought when Meredith began talking to her about the creatures and books, nodding along as the woman spoke.
That's fine, I'd just like to know what I'm up against.
The blonde disregarded Ava'Lee's sarcastic remark and followed behind Meredith like a lost puppy.

After doing a sweep of the whole city, Addie rolled her slightly sore ankles around on the ground while listening to Meredith's orders. She nodded her head with a slight smirk at how motherly the woman really was. A part of her reminded her of her own mother - just less drunk and obnoxious. The young Polish woman pushed aside thoughts of her dead mother when she noticed Ava'Lee was talking to her. She rolled her eyes at the playful girl and followed in after her, all while loosening where the cloak tied around her neck.

Addie followed Ava'Lee to the back of the "Funeral Home" and tucked her dark blue cloak under her arm. Although Addie wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea of sharing how she died, she realized that sooner or later she'd wind up telling Ava'Lee.
Alright, I'll play.
Addie didn't have to share all the gory, horrible details.
Where do I start...
She mumbled as she threw her cloak over an armchair before collapsing on said armchair. Addie crossed one leg over the other and began unbuckling her ankle boot.
My death, which also happens to be my date of birth, is on September 1st, 1939.

The blonde pulled off her boot and began unbuckling the other.
If you do not recognize that date, it is the day that Germany invaded Danzig, Poland, my home, and since I lived on the outskirts of the city-
After pulling off the second boot, she unbuttoned the first two buttons of her white blouse, revealing a chain that was tucked underneath the shirt.
So, Nazis broke in and killed-
Addie's face had a quick flash of sadness before she cleared her throat and regained her signature serious look.
-the people who were celebrating my birthday as well.
Adelajda skipped the gruesome events after that and instead grinned a mischievous grin.
However, I got my revenge on those fucking Nazis a few hours later, found them on the street harassing a woman. They dropped a gun in my house and I went out there and managed to kill three of the four.

The woman pondered if she'd explain how she killed the first man, and decided on it almost immediately.
I sunk my teeth into the first fucker's throat and ripped it out. Tasted like shit, but he was in a lot of pain so it was worth it.
As she got more into the story, her expression became more menacing and her voice darker.
I shot the other two in the face, their blood getting all over a dress I had been wearing and all over my face. However, I had blood on my face before hand from biting into that other man's throat. I guess I wasn't fast enough because before I knew it, time slowed down and my life flashed before my eyes.
She paused.

Then there was nothing.
Addie had shown a side of her that she hadn't shown the ladies yet.
I suppose after I died, the remaining Nazi dumped my body in a river. I'm told that is how I got my water manipulation abilities.
The blonde got up on her feet and walked towards the couch where Ava was sprawled and held out her hand to the brunette.
Do you want to feel the scar I have where he shot me? It's quite strange, I did not realize I had it until a few months ago.

Meredith watched the girls walk inside. She didn't move from where she was standing until she heard the door to the funeral home lock. The warm look in her eyes instantly flickered away, her small smile fading. She now fully allowed her anger to get the best of her. She turned on her heals and prowled down the muddy road, pulling her hood down so it covered her face, to hide her luminescent yellow eyes. Her stride held the confidence that told people to stay away from her. The few drunken individuals, and nightly thieves easily got the message, and anyone who saw her seamed to dive out of the way. A cruel smirk curled across her face watching everyone scramble out of her away.

Getting to the outskirts of the city she made sure no one was following her before she walked outside of the gates. The guards didn't even need to look at her to know who she was, seeing as it had become a common thing over the past hundred or so years that she's been there that she would go outside in the middle of the night. Some of the men nodded to her, and then instantly looked away. Meredith didn't bother looking as she prowled down the pathway. She veered off after about half a mile, and started to just rome around. She made sure not to get lost, leaving burning handprints into the trunks of large trees, which glowed an angry red in the night.

She searched around for a few hours before stopping, hearing the sound of footsteps that weren't hers. Her eyes narrowed as she looked around. Her anger grew, hoping it was the son of a bitch that attacked her girls. "Is it normal for you to attack unarmed people?" Meredith asked to the wind. There was a shuffling sound in back of her. Meredith didn't need to turn around to know that the person who was tailing her moved out of the bushes. "You, madam, are anything but unarmed," A deep, whispy voice came. It obviously wasn't human, seeing as it was laced with other voices. "So, you know me?" Meredith asked, continuing to stare straight ahead. "I know about you, but I never thought I'd meet you... I thought you were just some myth my master made up," The voice said. In the distance there was a animalistic screech. Meredith looked in the direction.

"And who's your master?" She calmly asked, trying to not get distracted by the Camazot's call. "Now why would I tell you?" Meredith laughed a little, despite herself. "If you've heard of me, then you know what I can do," She drawled, her eyes flicking up to the sky when the call got closer. "You can only do that to mortals..." Despite the fact that the statement was suppose to sound strong, there was a waver in the figures voice that told Meredith that this man had little faith in his words. The waver in his voice made her smile, her eyes no longer glowing angrily, but more with amusment. "Is that something your master told you?" She played. The figure was silent. Meredith huffed, popping her hip out sassily, and crossing her arms. "If you won't give me your masters name, then give me yours," She huffed. There was another moment of silence before the voice answered, "Arno Abraxas... That's all you're getting from me."

There was a rushed shuffling sound, and with a burst of wind there was silence. Meredith knew she was now alone, accept for the horrid screeching in the distance. Meredith's lips pursed. "Arno Abraxas, hm?" She thought aloud. With a blink her eyes returned to their deep brown. Turning on her heals she walked back, her mind blank as she strolled back into town, and back to the Funeral Home. "Arno Abraxas," She mumbled again when she got to the door. There was a distant screech that made Meredith look up, and out towards a mountain that loomed over the town. She got a playful smile as she opened the door, and walked into the funeral home's lobby.

Re: Deaths Apprentice

Could I please reserve a role? :)

Re: Deaths Apprentice

Sure, no problem!

There's no major character sheet you need to follow in my opinion, make it however you want. Again, I base it quality over quantity. If you could just PM me your characters FC, or post them in OOC, along with a gif of them that'd be great!

If there's anything else you wish to ask me about I suggest PMing me, I rarely look in OOC o.e
