h e i g h t x // x5'2"

w e i g h t x // x102 lb

h a i r x // xCaitria sports blonde hair that is normally a platinum blonde tone. However, based on how much she stays outside and other factors, her hair can darken to almost a dirty blonde color. Caitria's hair is definitely not pencil-straight, but it isn't curled enough to be described as wavy or curly.

e y e s x // xCaitria's eyes are a blue color, although the exact hue can change, mainly due to the lighting. At times, her eyes can be bluer than the Caribbean, and other times, Caitria's eyes are a dark grayish blue, almost resembling granite. Occasionally, based on the lighting, Caitria's eyes can look silver instead of blue.

o d d i t i e s x // xCaitria has a rather peculiar tattoo on her right hip.

a p p e a r a n c e x // xCaitria is far from ugly, and she knows it. Her body is almost an exact hourglass figure, although it is lean and not extremely curvy at the same time. Caitria's body type is ectomorph, and she has had problems with being extremely underweight in the past, although it has yet to affect her negatively. Even now, Caitria's weight is lingering on the edge of average and underweight. Caitria prefers to keep her hair down, but she will put it up in a ponytail if it provides an extreme amount of convenience and/or leverage. She's not a fan of her Flash bodysuit, and will usually be seen wearing faux leather, workout/athletic clothes, or clothes made out of material she fashions from chemistry. Her clothing is usually in natural colors, such as blacks, grays, creams, or whites. It's not exceptionally uncommon for Caitria to wear brighter colors (namely blue), but she tends to stick with blacks and dark grays.

P O W E R S

a c c e l e r a t e d x h e a l i n g x // x If Caitria is harmed, she will heal at high speeds due to her heightened metabolism.
e n e r g y x c o n s t r u c t x c r e a t i o n x // x Caitria can use the matter generated by her speed to create solid objects such as walls or bridges, though it requires constant concentration & reapplication for it to remain stable.
f l i g h t x // x Although Caitria is faster on foot, she is capable of achieving an almost helicopter flight.
i n c r e a s e d x p e r c e p t i o n s x // x The Speed Force grants Caitria enhanced senses, allowing her to see, hear, smell, touch and/or taste at an increased speed and understand it as it is processed.
i n f i n i t e x m a s s x p u n c h x // x Caitria, being the protege of Flash, has an increased level of strength in her body which she imparts in one main way. She focuses the Speed Force's extra-dimensional energies into one massive punch, which doesn't happen all too often, but can push someone from one continent to another.
p h a s i n g x // x Caitria can vibrate her molecules so quickly that she can achieve intangibility for short bursts allowing her to phase through objects.
s e l f - s u s t e n a n c e x // x Caitria travels at extreme speeds which causes her body to work overtime. When her body becomes too fast for her to breath, she imparts on the Speed Force for sustenance.
s t e a l x s p e e d x // x Caitria can literally steal the accelerated motion or momentum from objects, people, and even other Speedsters to reduce their speed or even virtually stop them. Since Flash is the creator and source of Speed Force, Flash's speed cannot be stolen. Caitria is also a source (see history), therefore her speed cannot be stolen either.
s u p e r c h a r g e d x b r a i n x a c t i v i t y x // x Caitria can access superhuman levels in her brain, further than just processing information. She can understand difficult equations and run trial and error in her mind at superhuman speeds.
s u p e r h u m a n x e n d u r a n c e x // x Caitria can run for extended periods or operate for a large amount of time. Her body can handle the stresses of superhuman racing without noticeable distress.
s u p e r h u m a n x s p e e d x // x Caitria is connected to the Speed Force barrier and all Speed in the universe. She isn't capable of running at the speed of light yet (186,282 miles per second), but her top speed is 127,489 miles per second. The faster she goes, the more stress she puts on her body.
v o r t e x x c r e a t i o n x // x Caitria can cause an incredible amount of wind to burst through their focused funnel. She tends to use this automatically when she runs to reduce the air currents around her body.
s u p e r x s p e e d x r e a d i n g x // x Being able to run at beyond the speed of light also enables Caitria to do other things at superhuman speed. She can accumulate mass amounts of knowledge in mere seconds.
e l e c t r o k i n e s i s x // x Caitria, like her father, can produce lightning when running and use it to produce static shock. She can also harness the build-up of electricity with her movements, to which she can repeatedly hurl lightning to stun or repel enemies, and also electrify water.
s u p e r h u m a n x r e f l e x e s x // x Caitria's connection to the Speed Force improves her reflexes.
t e l e p a t h i c x i m m u n i t yx // x Since everything about Caitria is moving at superhuman speeds (when running) - even her brain cells - it is incredibly difficult for psychics to get into her mind. Only the best can, though.

P R O F I C I E N C I E S

s c i e n c e x // x Caitria has her father's talent at chemistry and all things science.
i n t e l l i g e n t x // x Both Caitria and her father are very intelligent.
c o m p u t e r x s k i l l s x // x Caitria very adept with computers.
p i a n o x // x Caitria is quite skilled at the piano.

W E A K N E S S E S

u n t r u s t w o r t h y x // x Caitria definitely doesn't lie all the time. There are times where you can trust her, but it'd be best if you didn't put your full trust in her, as she can be a bit deceptive.
c o l d x // x Speed is produced by a build-up of heat in the target's atoms, therefore Caitria is vulnerable to extreme cold temperatures. Her speed will be greatly reduced.
p h y s i c a l l y x w e a k x // x Caitria is definitely not weak for an average human, but in comparison to her speed, or even a lesser trait of hers, Caitria's strength is quite poor, only matching up to the strength of an athletic human with no powers.
h y p e r - m e t a b o l i s m x // x When moving at hyperspeed, Caitria burns calories much more quickly than average humans. If she doesn't eat enough, Caitria can pass out when using her powers too much. With Caitria's heightened metabolism combined with her accelerated healing, she is unaffected by sedatives and alcohol as she burns through them too quickly to have any effect.

F E A R S

d y i n g x w i t h o u t x h o n o r x // x Caitria is the protege of Barry Allen himself. She doesn't want to die from something stupid, like falling off a cliff. She wants to leave a mark, and die for an extremely good reason.
p o w e r s x f a i l i n g x h e r x // x Caitria relies on her powers. If they fail her, drastic things could happen.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
xxxxxxxxx rebellious xx unconventional xx daring xx sly x

Caitria isn't what someone would think of when they think of a rebel, but she fits into that cookie cutter. She has never been a stickler for rules, but at the same time, she doesn't exist just to break them. Her ethical view is a bit different than the norm - Caitria does what she thinks is best, but at the same time, if committing a crime will solve that problem, so be it. Caitria could have gotten arrested over twenty times if someone could actually catch her. She's not the normal type of rebellious, but if she's set on doing something, nothing will stop her.

Caitria doesn't follow the rules and doesn't follow the trends if they don't suit her fancy. She also doesn't do things the normal way - just the best way, no matter how crazy it is. She's known for being rather unconventional, and not doing things the way things are generally done. She just knows how to think outside the box, and isn't bound by the way others think. Not everything she does is unorthodox, though. Just what's more convenient.

Caitria is no coward. She is daring is many ways, and doesn't succumb to peer pressure when her methods are very different from most. If there is something incredibly important and dangerous that needs to be done, Caitria will do it, with very little to no regard for her own safety. Caitria wouldn't call this part of her selfless, though. She doesn't risk her life purely for the wishes of others. If there's a valid reason, though, Caitria would willingly jump to her own death.

Caitria is intelligent, no doubt about it. However, she's a bit more sly than what her nature suggests. She's not only intelligent, she's cunning and crafty as well. Caitria won't deny it, she's not an angel. Caitria is a bit deceitful, but like her rebelliousness, she doesn't live to lie. Caitria's conscience doesn't care if she lies or commits a crime, just as long as it's for the greater good. It doesn't even have to be for the greater good, it just has the be beneficial to Caitria or the general populace. If it is, she will gladly cheat and lie her way through.

H I S T O R Y

Caitria is the only child of Barry Allen and Iris West. She was always told that she had her mother, Iris West's, beauty - just not her coloring. Iris West was one of the few who knew about Barry Allen's secret identity, and died early on in Caitria's childhood. This meant that Caitria was raised by a single parent, but despite his grief for his wife's death, Barry Allen was a damn good father. Caitria discovered her inherited superhuman speed very early in her childhood. Unlike some, she immediately chose not to live her life as a normal human, and grew up honing her superhuman powers.

Barry Allen had sent Caitria to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters as soon as possible, so her powers wouldn't get out of control in public. Caitria had a strange childhood - half the time she was studying as the School for Gifted Youngsters, and the other half was spent helping her father. Barry Allen had taught Caitria advanced chemistry from when she was very young, and Caitria grew up to be very gifted in almost all forms of science. Soon, instead of teaching Caitria chemistry among other things, Barry Allen decided to bring her along on his missions, from when she was about eleven or twelve years old.

While the duo had success most of the time, Barry thought Caitria still had a lot to learn. After she graduated from Xavier's School, Barry Allen sent Caitria to Descendant Academy - just for some extra training. Before that though, when Caitria was around 16 or 17, she and her father realized something while cruising through the city. Another Speedster had found them, and he tried to steal Caitria's speed, knowing from experience that Barry Allen was invulnerable to speed theft. However, the Speedster failed, due to the fact that since Caitria is Barry's direct descendant. While Barry is the creator of the Speed Force, being his daughter, Caitria is also a source, and therefore her speed cannot be stolen.

The descendants at the academy are no strangers to training, but the past couple months everything has been at the next level. Spontaneous training exercises, simulations or spars without a moments notice to keep the proteges always on their toes, at peak performance. Even the most seasoned descendants at the academy have never seen training as vigorous and extensive as they were currently going through. It didn't take a genius for them to know that they were preparing for something, but they weren't given any information. "You won't always know what you're up against and time to prepare. You should be ready at a moments notice. Ready for anything, prepared for anything and expecting death."

***

Mycroft Xavier stood in the long narrow corridor that stretched the length of sub-level 23. Numerous doors plagued either wall along the hallway, leading to the elevators. There were no windows, after all, he was underground. But his surroundings were cold, almost medical. Concrete floors and walls, reinforced steel doors and buzzing fluorescents above. Stark made the rest of the tower gorgeous in every way, but the training floors weren't made for beauty. They were designed to withstand whatever these students could throw at them, and then some.

With a sigh, Mycroft raised his left hand which held a clipboard. His right index finger and thumb pulled back the sleeve of his shirt revealing a watch upon his wrist. 03 05 hours. As he readjusted his sleeve, the elevator doors opened releasing Phil and Alfred. They strolled towards him like they had no where better to be. "You're late," Mycroft said, pursing his lips.

"Apologizes Mr. Xavier, I am not used to being up at this hour," Alfred apologized before taking a sip from his hot cup of tea.

"Remind me again why we're up at this hour?" Phil asked as he came to a halt before Mycroft.

"Crash course training exercise. Threats don't wait until they've gotten a full eight hours." Mycroft checked his watch again before flipping through pages on the clipboard.

"Excellent," Phil said dryly as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "J.A.R.V.I.S. 15 minute alarm please."

"Yes sir," J.A.R.V.I.S. replied.

"Tell them to come prepared for battle," Mycroft added.

"Hold on," Alfred interjected, stepping towards Mycroft. "Some of these students use grenades, guns... live weaponry."

"Precisely."

"They should be using sparring equipment, not adamantium blades. This could get them killed," Alfred argued. He was always the tender hearted out of the mentors. He worried more about the students well being than Phil or Mycroft combined.

"That's the point Mr. Pennyworth," Mycroft concluded coldly, marking something off on his clipboard. "J.A.R.V.I.S., the message please."

Of course, Wren wasn't asleep. It was rare that she slept because she hardly ever needed rest. It left her with many nights of either boredom or loneliness. That night was no different. She decided to spend the late hours of the day watching trash TV. She laid on her large sofa without pants, surrounded by junk food and soda.

"What the fuck!? Of course, he's not the father!" she yelled, throwing popcorn at her TV. "That baby is whiter than I am!" she grumbled, shoving another handful of popcorn into her mouth.

An obnoxious beeping noise sounded throughout the towers intercoms, drowning out the results of who the father was. Wren tried to ignore it, snatching up her remote and turning up the volume. She smashed the up button until her TV was at the highest volume, but the alarm only seemed to grow louder as she tried to block it out. "God damn it J.A.R.V.I.S.! This is the only time I can watch Jerry Springer in peace." She growled, angrily shoving the bowl of popcorn off her lap, onto the floor.

"Apologies Ms. Wilson, mentors Xavier, Coulson and Pennyworth request everyone's presence on sub-level 23 in 15 minutes. They ask that you come prepared for battle."

Wren nearly spat her coke out as she took a drink, sitting up quickly. "Woah woah woah, wait a minute!" She threw out her arms like she was trying to silence a crowd, when in reality it was simply an intangible A.I. "You mean to tell me I can come... with my guns?"

"That is correct."

"Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit!" Wren hoped up from her seat. She turned around and hurdled over the back of the couch, rushing towards her bedroom. "You should have said that in the first place. There are more than a few assholes in this academy I'd like to introduce to Bonnie and Clyde." She bee lined for her closet, throwing open the doors. She yanked out her red suit and tossed it onto her bed.

"Bonnie and Clyde?"

Wren popped out of her closet, holding a pistol in each hand. "Bonnie." She waved her left hand. "Clyde." She waved her right.

J.A.R.V.I.S. remained quiet for a long moment. "10 minutes Ms. Wilson."

"Yeah, yeah." She waved her hands towards the direction of the computers voice. "Stupid computer doesn't get my jokes," Wren grumbled as she wiggled into the legs of her red suit, leaving the top half of the unitard handing off her hips.

"I heard that."

Wren rolled her eyes, slipping her guns into their holsters on either one of her thighs. She adjusted the strap of her sports bra before slipping the straps of her katanas' holster over her left shoulder like a purse. Her right hand grabbed a pair of sunglasses off her dresser as she passed it and headed towards the door.

"It is 3 am, there is no sun."

"Oh, so now you make jokes." Wren snorted, putting the sunglasses on and exited out into the hall. She sauntered down the hall to the stairs, deciding to take them instead of the elevator that will quickly be overfilled with other students.

It wasn't long before she reached sub-level 23. Wren kicked open the door, and skipped her way down the hall towards the grim trio. "What's up docs? Why the late night call?"

Alfred smiled towards her while the other two seemed to barely acknowledge her presence. Mycroft didn't even look up and make eye contact as he spoke to her. "Be quiet and take your spot in line."

"Ouch... Daytime doesn't agree with you and apparently nighttime doesn't either."

Mycroft lethargically looked up, pointing his index finger at the line on the ground before him. "Get. In. Line."

Wren held up her hand in surrender as she turned around and moved to stand on the line. But just to spite Mycroft, she removed the swords from her back and dropped them on the ground. They landed with a loud crash before she flopped down on the ground beside them. She rested her hands on the floor behind as she crossed her ankles before her. Wren could tell Mycroft wanted to say something but as he parted his lips to speak, she beat him to it. "I am on the line douche-croft."

Alfred chuckled. "Oh, let her be. It's late."

Mycroft grumbled, looking down at his papers. "You're too soft on them, old man."

It seemed the more time Tobias spent in the academy, the harder it was for him to sleep. Everything weighed so heavily on him. He wanted to embrace the academy. Make a name for himself that wasn't associated with Magneto. But his father lead the Brotherhood. And even worse, Mystique was trapped there. He could leave without a second glance if it was just his father, disobey him and lead an attack on the Brotherhood of Mutants. But with Raven there... He was half tempted to spy, just to keep her alive.

The thoughts kept him up at night, boiling at the base of his skull like lava. No matter how many more positives there were to completely joining the Academy, Mystique out numbered it all. She was his mum. Not biologically, but she was. He would rather die one thousand painful deaths before ever harming her... And that was his problem.

Buzz. Buzz.

His cellphone vibrated on the table beside him as he sat on his balcony, reading the Odyssey. Tobias had half a mind to ignore it, but finally caved and withdrew the device from his pocket. Mum illuminated the screen. He slid his thumb across the glass then put the phone to his ear. "I was just thinking about you."

"I had hoped you were asleep... I planned on just leaving you a message."

"It's ok, mum. I was just reading." He closed the book and set it on the table beside him.

"You should try to get some sleep, Tobias. You can't be a hero if you're fatigued."

Tobias chuckled, resting his elbows on his knees. "I'm no hero."

"Not this again... Tobias. Please, do what's best for you. I can handle him."

He rubbed his eyes with his right hand as he sighed. "...It's not that simple. You know what he'll do to you if I—"

Tobias was cut off when he heard the alarm throughout the tower. But the noise wasn't ear piercing or interruptive in his penthouse. Instead, he wouldn't have heard it at all if it weren't for him sitting on the balcony.

"I apologizes Mr. Lehnsherr, but your presence is requested."

"Thank you J.A.R.V.I.S., just a moment." He held up his index finger before speaking back towards his phone. "I must go. Training."

"I'm sure you will excel, my dear. Please, get some sleep after."

"Ok, mum. I love you." Tobias ended the call. He grabbed his book and stood up from where he was sitting. He headed back into his penthouse, slipping the novel into its home on his bookshelf.

"I am sorry for the interruption Mr. Lehnsherr, but the mentors request that you dress for battle and report to sub-level 23 in 10 minutes."

"Thank you." He headed into his bedroom, stopping in the doorway. "And thank you... For silencing the alarm."

"Of course."

It wasn't often that he got the chance to talk to Mystique. He could never call her, and she could only call him if she is able to slip away from Magneto long enough to get away with it. It might be silly to thank a computer for respecting his phone call, but he appreciated it. Even if the call was for a minute, it was important to him.

Tobias sighed, looking at himself in the mirror. He was never one to wear a ridiculous suit like some of the descendants. His father tried to get him his own set of armor, but he didn't want it. Partly because it'd only make him look even more like Magneto, but also because it slowed him down... And you can't blend into a crowd dressed like a Power Ranger. What he was wearing was good enough. He had ample movement.

He stopped by the table that held his helmet on the way towards the door. Tobias pursed his lips, staring at the head piece. Prepare for battle. The alarm didn't seem urgent enough to be anything other than another extensive training exercise. But if he were going into battle... Real battle... He'd need it. He sighed, slipping his fingers through the eye holes in the helmet and picked it up. It was helpful, but it was identical to his father's. Tobias hated how he looked in it... Like a young Erik Lehnsherr.

Tobias had no need for weapons or anything else. With a final glance around his penthouse, he sighed and opened the door. "Wish me luck J.A.R.V.I.S."

"Good luck sir. Although I do not think you need it."

He smiled, closing the door and heading down the hall. Tobias took a deep breath as he pressed the button for the elevator. He was silently relieved when it arrived absent any others. Once he entered it, he held out his left hand, palm towards the ground. Without much effort, he sent the elevator down, past all the other floors, regardless if the called for the lift or not.

When he reached the appropriate floor, he quietly walked down the hall towards the mentors and a reclining Wren. Tobias quirked a brow at the red head, but said nothing as he stood a few feet down the line from her.

"See," Mycroft said pointing towards Tobias but talking towards Wren. "That is how you stand in line."

"Oh, blow it out your ass," Wren scoffed, bouncing her right foot over her left, not even looking in Tobias' direction.

Frankie was sound asleep in her bed, snuggled under a mountain of blankets. When the alarm sounded, it rang through her room like the soft chirping of birds and the sounds of leaves rustling in the wind. She groaned softly as she shifted in bed, rubbing her eyes. When she opened her eyes, she sat up seeing as how it was still black as night outside.

"J.A.R.V.I.S.? What's going on?" she asked through yawns, stretching her arms out in either direction. Frankie was tempted to just lay back down and go back to sleep. But she never woke in the night on her own unless it was a nightmare. And considering she cannot remember what she dreamt of, she knew that wasn't it.

"I am sorry to wake you Ms. Parker. But your presence is required on sub-level 23. Your mentors request that you be present in 15 minutes and dress for battle."

Frankie sighed, throwing her blankets off her legs and lethargically climbed out of bed. "J.A.R.V.I.S.? Could you please brew a pot of coffee while I get dressed?"

"Certainly."

Frankie padded her bare feet over to her closet, pushing back the doors. She slid clothes over out of the way to reveal her mothers suit in a cabinet along the back wall. A melancholy smile graced her lips as she took it out. She stood frozen for a long moment, looking over the white and black suit. "Hi mom," she whispered, thumbing over the fabric.

In no time she was dressed in her mother's old Spider Gwen suit, walking out into the living room of her penthouse. Frankie picked up her webshooters that rested on the coffee table, attaching them to her wrists as she made her way to the kitchen. She closed her eyes, inhaling deeply the scent of fresh brewed coffee. "J.A.R.V.I.S. you rock!" she said as she made herself a cup of the wonderfully warm caffeinated drink. She held the mug in her small hands, sipping from it as she exited her penthouse and walked towards the elevator.

It seemed to take extra long that particular moment, and she could have sworn she heard it go down right past her floor, but she was content with waiting and drinking her coffee. When it finally came she stepped on and road it down to the training floor. Frankie walked down the hall, smiling towards the mentors and other descendants that were waiting in line. "Morn—Evening?" She moved to stand beside Tobias, and held her coffee out towards him. "Wanna sip?"

"Thanks," he replied quietly, taking a drink from her mug and then handed it back.

"Wren?" Frankie motioned the cup towards her.

"Oh, you don't want me to drink that," Wren replied. "Then I'll never shut up."

***

Ross snored as his body was swallowed by the giant bean bag chair. The blue light from his TV shined against his face as the Xbox controlled raised and lowered on his chest with his breathing. When the alarm blared throughout his room, he startled awake sending the controller flying across the room. "Aye! Who be there?!"

"Me, Mr. McCulloch."

He groaned, waving his hand like he was shooing the computer away as he rolled over on the beanbag and immediately started snoring again. But it didn't last long when the alarms grew louder. "Yer mother is a fackin' whore!" Ross yelled, lethargically rolling out of the bean bag chair and onto the floor.

"I don't have mother... Unless you want to call Mr. Stark my mother, but—"

"Oy, shut up." Ross pushed off the ground, nearly falling over as he tried to balance on his own two feet. "T'fuck you want?" He rubbed his eyes, dragging his feet as he headed towards his bedroom. But before he entered, the door slammed shut in his face.

"I'm sorry sir, but you are going the wrong way."

"The hell I am!?" Ross rested his forehead against the door, banging his hand weakly on its surface. "Le'me sleep!"

"You are requested to go to sub-level 23 dressed for battle in 10 minutes."

"I'm not goin'." Ross started walking back towards the bean bag chair, eyes barely opened.

"I've been ordered to turn on the sprinklers in your room if you do not come."

Ross growled, kicking the bean bag chair. He wouldn't have cared, he could sleep in rain, shine... Tornado. But everything in his room would be ruined... Especially the arcade. "Fine!" Ross grabbed the closet outfit he could find and nearly put it on backwards as he got dressed, almost falling over as he stepped in the legs of his pants. He snatched up his mirror pack on the way to the door and slammed the door shut behind him as he exited his penthouse.

When he reached the training floor, the bags were prominent under his eyes as he seemed to move in slow motion over to the line. His gaze dragged over to the cup of glorious steamy goodness in Frankie's hand. "Fer the love of God." He didn't wait to be offered a drink. He reached out and took the cup, nearly drinking half of its contents. "Yer a Goddess, Frankeh. Has anyone told yeh?"

Frankie chuckled, taking back the cup. "You look like you need it more than I do."

Ross gave a weak smirk, leaning back against the wall. Even on two feet, his eyes fought to fall. It seemed to take more energy to try and keep them open than it did to remain standing. Every moment or so, rubbing his eyes with a yawn.

Caitria gazed at her beaker, her blue eyes almost glowing. The transparent silver-violet liquid was relatively still, save for the steady stream of bubbles in the center of the beaker. The solution was almost ready to advance to the next step. Caitria just needed to add one more extremely vital material.

The blonde speedster slid over to her microscope, where a slide with a sample of her reinforced and "mutated" tri-polymer molecule mixture was waiting. Caitria peered into the microscope, her lip quirking upwards in satisfaction. Things were going very well tonight. In fact, everything was going very well tonight. It was almost too good to be true.

Caitria pulled the slide out of the microscope and headed to one of her storage closets to get the rest of her supply. This solution was going to surely improve Caitria's life.

Caitria grabbed her vial with the tri-polymer solution and slowly poured it into her beaker. The solution in the beaker - still silver-violet - gradually grew more opaque by the second. "Good," Caitria murmured under her breath, raising her voice to just under normal conversation level. "Soon enough, this solution will create a highly powerful sneak attack weapon capable of taking down J.A.R.V.I.S."

Caitria swore that the entire tower could hear the alarms.

"J.A.R.V.I.S!" Caitria hollered above the screaming alarms, her sharp and loud whistle drowned out in the noise. "It. Was. A. Joke!"

The alarms turned down considerably after that.

Caitria heaved a sigh. The lab was supposed to be quiet.

"How did you know I was here?" J.A.R.V.I.S. questioned.

Caitria groaned. "Nothing goes this well without a sudden interruption."

"I apologize for intruding, Ms. Allen, but your mentors request your presence on sub-level 23. They ask that you be present in 15 minutes and dressed for battle."

"Dressed for battle...wait...does that mean I can bring my improvised radioactive weaponry?!"

There was a long pause before J.A.R.V.I.S. spoke once again. "Do you mean to tell me that you have nuclear bombs in your possession?"

Caitria laughed. "Hah, no! Those are so basic...I've tried to update those in the past, but that experiment is on hiatus. No, I mean my other radioactive weapons of mass destruction."

There was another pause. "Please get dressed, Ms. Allen."

And so Caitria did. She changed into a black uniform that allowed for aerodynamics and flexibility. She wasn't the biggest fan of the Flash bodysuit; that was why she was attempting to create a new one with a better material in the lab. The blonde headed to sub-level 23 and saw quite the mishmash of students. "Students"...hmph. Caitria was 21, if she went to a regular college, she'd have already graduated. It always felt weird to call her peers classmates or students.

Andrew wasn't a heavy sleeper. Sure, he loved his sleep, but he wasn't that hard to awaken. Once he heard the alarm, he was wide awake, ready for a message.

"What is it, Jar?" he questioned the computer system. He could practically hear J.A.R.V.I.S. pausing.

"Mr. Mulligan, my name is already an acronym. There is no need to shorten it."

"On another note, thank you for responding quickly. Your presence is required on sub-level 23. Your mentors ask that you be present in 15 minutes and dressed for battle."

Andrew's eyes brightened for the wrong reasons. "You mean I can actually bring real, dangerous guns?"

"...I suppose."

"Awesome! I already know that I can turn my limbs into weapons, but I'm quite fond of my small collection of guns. Thanks, Jar!"

"Please, Mr. Mulligan, call me J.A.R.V.I.S."

But Andrew was already paying him no mind, changing quickly out of his pajamas and into his "battle armor." The brown-eyed symbiote evaluated his rather pathetic collection of handguns and grabbed a few random ones. Although Andrew was well-versed in the art of sharpshooting, he commonly used the weapons his limbs turned into rather than handheld guns or knives. For convenience reasons, of course.

Once Andrew entered sub-level 23, he saw Riley, along with a few others, such as Ross and Wren. Andrew, grinning as he entered, made his presence known as he headed towards his friends. Riley was quite different from Ross, but Andrew was friends with both.

thaleia castle

Image

Thaleia sat there in her kitchen, back as straight as a board, her eyes cold and heartless. The walls weren't too decorated, but there were wine bottles and a variety of shotguns, handguns, rifles, pistols, etc. on display. While Thaleia did prefer to have her weapons hidden - in case someone attempted to invade her penthouse - she displayed part of her collection of guns and a few bullets for her own sanity.

While she had no problem admitting that she admired the combat skills of some around the tower, such as smart-ass Wren and others, Thaleia didn't understand their personalities or outlooks on life. For example, Wren. Sure, she was an annoying bitch, but she did seem happy in her own little way. Thaleia did feel bitter about how Wren could be like that so easily. To get through the day, Thaleia had her own coping methods. Everything night, at precisely 2:50 AM, her internal clock would wake her up and she'd go to the kitchen. There would be no light, save for a scented candle from Bath and Body Works. It was routine, habit. There wasn't anything too special about Bath and Body Works, or candles in general, but it was how it worked.

Anyway, Thaleia would come to the kitchen everything night at precisely 2:50 AM, with a single Bath and Body Works candle, and she would remember. She was human, but Thaleia had remarkable memory when it came to weapons and everything about them. That meant everything about them, from full weaponry use to sentimental memories. Only Thaleia knew it, but while all the weapons on display were high-grade military weapons, they weren't chosen based on their quality. No, crazy events have taken place in Thaleia's past, and these guns and bullets were important to every one of them.

Thaleia hadn't cared deeply about many people at all, but those-who-must-not-be-named chose their victims well. The group could've killed a specific one of Thaleia's enemies, and she'd be far more pained than if they killed one of her friends. Thaleia didn't have too many close friends, but she had a lot of people she would grieve for.

Had. Not anymore. Thaleia cared about no one in the world now. Sure, she would do her duty. She would kill the evil in the world. But just because Thaleia did something for (what she believed was) a good cause, it didn't mean she was happy. Far from it. The people in this damned school don't even know a fraction of it.

Thaleia's gaze flickered over to a bullet in the glass case closest to her. The bullet was rusted far before loaded it into a gun. The person she shot it with died from tetanus. Predictably.

Of course, Thaleia could remember how she shot it and the effects. But the part that seared into her mind was why. Why did she shoot the bullet? Could holding fire have saved Mark, who died in the next few days? Mark and Thaleia had a rather difficult relationship. They were "enemies", both cool, calculated, and making sharp jabs at each other. Despite this, Mark, elder by Thaleia was five years, did actually care about her in a...strange sibling way. Neither admitted it, but both knew, in the darkest corners of the mind, that the feeling was mutual. Like Thaleia would admit it.

Thaleia scowled as J.A.R.V.I.S. alerted her of its presence. "I apologize deeply for disturbing you Ms. Castle," J.A.R.V.I.S. said, "but mentors Xavier, Coulson and Pennyworth request everyone's presence on sub-level 23 in 15 minutes. They ask that you come prepared for battle."

Thaleia bit her lip harshly before nodding brusquely. She stood up in the calculated way she always did, and walked to her bathroom, where her desired weapons were located. While her sitting posture was always stiff and straight, her movements were fluid and calculated in a perfected grace - no misstep would be allowed.

Thaleia collected her guns, and went to her closet, quickly typing in a collection of passwords into a highly protected lock. She collected her grenades and some explosive ammunition, hiding it well in her clothing. Thaleia silently headed into an elevator.

The brunette's green-blue eyes always looked distant, yet at the same time, they clearly took in every detail. Thaleia had always believed her life was a huge paradox.

As Thaleia entered sub-level 23, she could feel the air around her get colder. She had that effect. People noticed her presence, and not quite in a good way.

It was just simply another peaceful, uneventful night at the Descendant Tower, the so-called academy where the succeeding generation of heroes, or villains, train to be the heir to their parents. Well, at least for now, it was as peaceful as it could get. None could ever truly know if merely seconds later, a meteor shower would be raining down on Earth or if armies of extraterrestrial beings from an unknown dimension would be marching on to invade our planet our not. In this universe, nothing is impossible, after all. With just a blink of an eye and then the world will face its' end before anyone could know it, so isn't it better to just enjoy the moment, uncaring of how the future will turn out?

But in the end, it was their job. Their most sacred of duties. To ensure that such scenarios will not be played out. And that the so-called normal people out there can continue to live on in peace, blissfully ignorant of the fact that their lives are always being hung on the balance. It really sounds like a pain, for them, isn't it? But it was of no big matters, each and every one of them simply have come to term with the fact what they were made of, and what they simply have to do.

Xavier was sitting in the center of his meditation room inside his penthouse. For those who are not well-versed with the mystic arts, it will look as if he was only meditating. But in truth, this is merely his body. His astral form has already left and was walking in the astral realm. It is impossible to describe how this plane looked like with just the languages of human, but as long as you are out of your body, all burdens suddenly become nothingness. There was no sadness, no joy, no excitement, no rage. Only tranquility. And true enlightenment.

He keeps walking and walking. It was not really walking, though, since there was no ground under his feet. And he finally encountered a familiar figure just up ahead. The very man who had blessed him with this life. "Yo, dad." Xavier called up to his father, who was standing, gazing into the uncertain distance ahead of them calmly.

"I saw you on TV last night." Stephen spoke up when his son walked up to him, "Looks like you're still doing fine without me kicking you into place, hmm?"

"You're not so bad of an old man now, too." Xavier replied jokingly, "How's mom and Sophie?"

"There's no need to fret about them. They're doing a better job than you, y'know."

"Heh, now you're underestimating your son way too much."

The two of them continued to converse in their nice father-son chitty-chat. Since the four of them are each being in their own separate places now, they have agreed to meet up in the astral plane once in a while to see how each other is holding up. Clea, his stepmother and Sofia, his stepsister, seemed to be busy with something now so they aren't joining the two males of the family. But being able to meet up with his father occasionally for Xavier is already more than enough. His family meant the whole universe to him, and he knows it is normal for him to continue to persevere, to the best of his abilities, to protect them and make them proud. Being a Sorcerer Supreme to him is simple just as that.

Suddenly, he can felt some distortion back in the real world, meaning something or someone is trying to reach out to his main body. "Well, looks like this is it. Hero's duty is always endless, y'know." Xavier said.

"Haha, tell me about it. Just go, son." Stephen replied with a laugh, "And always keep in mind that you're your daddy's pride."

"See ya around." He nodded and and bid farewell to his father before everything flashed up and he let himself being pulled back to his body.

"-ange? Mr. Strange? Are you there?" An automatic male voice thick in British accent bloomed throughout the whole penthouse after a blaring series of alarm, which was obviously used as a wake-up call for them. A rather rude method but the mentors seemed to have a serious liking for it.

"I'm here, J.A.R.V.I.S." Xavier stretched his arms and stood up from where he sat, "It wasn't morning yet, right?"

"Apologize for disturbing you, Mr. Strange, but the mentors are requesting you and everyone's presence immediately. Sub-level 23 in 15 minutes. They have also specifically stated you come in arms."

"Oh?" Xavier was actually a bit surprised at J.A.R.V.I.S's statement, before his lips curved into a bright smile, "My, my. Are you saying that they are letting me to use my arms outside the Mirror Dimension? I wouldn't recommend it."

"Recommended or not, it is their order. I am merely reporting what they said."

"So they wanted to let the beasts to roam freely and the hurricanes to go wild, hmm? I think I know what they are up to." Xavier said. J.A.R.V.I.S didn't reply because it doesn't get what he meant, "Got it. I'll go and prepare now. Thank you, J.A.R.V.I.S, your service is well appreciated."

"You're welcome, Mr. Strange."

With that said, Xavier headed to his bedroom and changed into another attire. Well, he doesn't fancy having a costume like the majority of the other descendants here. His dressing code is simply to impress others, as no matter how verbosely he dresses, it wouldn't affect his spellcasting much. When he is done, Xavier put on his Sling Ring, "Say, J.A.R.V.I.S, is it okay if I open a portal to get there instead of taking the elevator?"

"Be my guest, Mr. Strange, but wasn't you supposed to be armed?"

"I am armed, thank you for your concern." He replied as he traced his arms in a circular motion. A fiery portal was slowly conjured, showing the sub-level 23, where the mentors and some of the other descendants were standing. Of course, this was quite an entrance, so it caught the attention of everyone almost instantly.

"It was a nice evening, wasn't it? My dear mentors." Xavier greeted as he calmly walked through the portal, and it disappeared as quick as it appeared, "I hope you are ready for the whirlwinds to spin."

He then glimpsed through the line of attendees that have arrived and greeted those whom he knows well, which includes Wren, Frankie, Ross, T'Chioke, Jaxon, Conrad and Schuyler. He then stood in line, just behind Caitria, someone who, likes him, is not the most trustworthy person around, "Hello, Caitria, my dear. The breezes of the night are calming to you?" He asked her in his usual style of speech. There are still plenty of them who hadn't turned up yet so it's best to converse a bit to keep things from stalling.

Even Astrid grumbled to the intrusion on her sleep.
“Pardon me Miss Rogers but your presence is expected on sub-level 23 in 15 minutes. It is also advised you come prepared for battle.” But that b word - battle and war had an effect on her mind and body that coursed adrenaline through her and made her feel defensive of the academy, of herself and everything she stood and fought for. The only way they were going to learn was by applying themselves and treating it as real as possible, she understood that. And with Mycroft on the loose, that was easily accomplished. He didn't exactly leave much to the imagination.

Astrid didn't argue with the poor AI that endured more backchat than anyone had to, but replied with a simple “Okay,” and moved for the wardrobe to suit up. Even though it was in a slow sort of fashion. She tied her hair in a tight ponytail through a yawn and grabbed her shield. She hesitated at the door of her penthouse. “Weapons?”
“That is for you to decide.” J.A.R.V.I.S answered.
Astrid rolled over the option for some time. Too long in fact before she stepped forward and out her door. She traveled to sub-level 23 trying to conjure an energy she couldn't quite reach on the journey there.

The shield was firm in her grip and she saw her peers lined up. A few in fact making her one of the less punctual. Doubting they were doing it for fun, she fell in the back of the line automatically.
“Morning,” she greeted to anyone that heard it.
“Good morning, sunshine.” Lilith's voice emerged from behind her causing her to turn. “Today might be that day you have to toss somebody off a building.”
“I doubt that,” Astrid said seeing the likelihood as a joke and smiled.

An alarm sounded through her sanctuary and Lilith hugged her pillow tighter. When it was obvious it wasn't about to seize, Lilith peaked an eye open.
“What is happening?”
“Nothing personal Miss Isley. You and others are expected at sub-level 23 in 15 minutes prepared for battle.” J.A.R.V.I.S informed.
She took a glance at her clock then turned away in denial. “Why?” She protested.
For some time the AI was quiet. Lilith thought it had left in the best possible sense. “I detect that may a be a rhetorical question.”
Lilith turned onto her back and sighed with an arm resting across her stomach contemplating her life as it was and how, had she refused the academy she could work on her own hours. But training would have been less or nonexistent and so she might not have reached her potential.
“I am authorized to do any means of motivation, Miss Isley.”
To that she sighed and scowled and threw her blankets off. “Relax. I'm up,” she assured.

She twiddled her fingers in passing Wren and nodded to others she had a fine connection with then slipped in line behind Astrid.

“But honestly, Astrid, if it comes to your life you're still not going to kill somebody who would kill you in the blink of an eye?” She asked softly looking into her blues for the soul answer. Lilith wasn't antagonizing her or pushing her, at least not deliberately but genuinely curious.
“I feel like we've been through this. No. There's such thing as redemption and second chances and they can pay off.” Lilith arched a brow prompting her to carry on. “Say somebody never really had the option to do good and it's their only way of life. Loyalty can be earned. Circumstances and upbringing can herd people into other directions but give them a chance and they can do amazing things.”
Lilith leaned against the wall smiling and nodding to show her understanding of Astrid's viewpoint. “It's a good thing you can stand your own. That moral compass may be your demise.”
Astrid smiled again and shrugged. “Then it shouldn't effect you sweet Lily.”
Lilith was at first surprised by the sass she received from the captain's daughter then grinned. It was well played and oddly refreshing tuning both their wits up for the training ahead.

Mycroft checked his watch again, before slipping his clipboard under his arm, holding it between his bicep and chest. He cupped his hands together in front of him before clearing his throat to get the student's attention. "Alright, simmer down." He waited cold and stoic until they all grew silent and gave him their undivided attention. "... Finally."

He took a deep breath and motioned to the doors on either side of the hall. "As you've probably guessed, this is a training exercise. Evil and intergalactic threats couldn't care less if you've had your full 8 hours or not. So you must be prepared at any moment, hungry, tired or injured to fight and accomplish what you must."

"I'm sure most of you are assuming this shall be another sparring exercise where we pair you off and let you fight. But we're beyond that now. That was to prepare you for whatever threat you may face, but now we are going to assess you. This exercise is the most realistic and likely of situations you will encounter thus far. We do not want you to take it lightly for we will not assess you lightly. You receive either a pass or fail. There are no in betweens or partial grades."

Mycroft looked towards the other mentors, and Phil then stepped forward. "As you all may know, a few years ago Captain America, Black Widow, and the Falcon... Along with others, faced down a threat of Hydra within S.H.I.E.L.D. During a raid on a particular Hydra base, we got complete scans of the facilities. Within each simulation room is an exact replica of said base. Barricaded, reinforced with hundreds of soldiers. Your objective will be to penetrate their defenses—" Phil's gaze did not fluctuate. "Not a word Ms. Wilson."

Wren groaned. "I didn't say anything... yet," she mumbled.

Phil sighed before continuing. "As I was saying... Penetrate their defenses, and gain access to their base. You need to get to their mainframe in the basement... Within there, there is a single manila envelope. You are to retrieve this envelope and return it to us."

Mycroft holds up his finger to silence everyone before they start speaking up again. "It is not quite that simple... So before you start acting like this is a cake walk... There are some guidelines. The envelope must not be damaged in any way, so blowing up the facility is not an option. We'll allow folding it to put in a pack or pocket... But burns, tears, water damage, etc. are unacceptable. You also may not open the envelope. The contents are highly secretive and delicate."

Phil cleared his throat before continuing on. "You may accomplish this task however you see fit. If that be through stealth or brute force. There are no hostages or innocents. If you are seen by anyone you must eliminate the threat. And if the alarms go off, you cannot leave until every threat has been terminated. In a mission of high sensitivity you can not leave any loose ends because it could compromise you, your loved ones and the academy."

Alfred gave a warm smile. "Lastly, you may tackle this mission on your own or you may partner up with another student of your choosing. Both options have merit but if you work along side someone else, please know that you must work as a team. 50/50 and together. Your grade will be no different going at it solo or in a partnership, but do choose your partners wisely if that is the route you decide to take. There is no time limit... but the longer you take, the more likely you will be discovered or fail. But I do suggest beating sunrise."

Wren stood there with her arms crossed and lips pursed. "That's it? Just stroll in there, take a stupid fucking envelope and leave?" Cold sarcasm was dripping from every word. "This is what we were brought here for?"

Mycroft stepped forward unamused. "Ms. Wilson it took all of the avengers to infiltrate a Hydra base in Sokovia. Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye and the Hulk... Easy is being allowed to spar your fellow classmates without lethal weapons, being allowed to stop before death."

She rolled her eyes pushing off the wall. "Do we get anything for completing it first?"

"You can go to bed sooner than everyone else."

Wren snorted and rolled her eyes. Her right hand placed her mask in her mouth as she walked past the mentors. She twisted her braid and held it in place against her skull. Then with her other hand, took her mask and put it on. She weaved her way through the other Descendants, making her way to a door at the farthest end of the hall. As she walked she tightened her weapons holsters and adjusted them on her. She stopped in front of the door and proceeded to check the clips of her guns and turn the safeties off.

She glanced back over her shoulder towards her other classmates. Wren wondered if she should ask someone to partner with her or not. Of course, she could go in solo... Literally run right through the front door and kill everyone. The Avengers can't take 100 bullets and live, but she could. But Wren thought a friendly competition throughout the exercise with Arthur could be interesting. Jack would be able to keep up with her and could probably know what she's thinking before she says it. Those were the only two she'd consider partnering with, after all... They were the only ones who'd tolerate her for more than five minutes.

Instead, she stood silent in front of the door. Surprising. She figured if someone wanted to partner with her, they'd ask. If not... Well, then she'd have a blast fucking up those simulated Hydras' asses. Wren tightened the straps of her katana holster. Then adjusted the tight fitting red suit. God, did it bunch in all the wrong places.

***

Tobias stood silent like a shadow, listening and waiting. A Hydra base? Really? All he's heard of those of Hyrda are that they think they're smart when they're not. He'd bet each one of those soldiers have something metal on them. He'd be in and out before any of the other students reached the front door. He wasn't dumb enough to think that anyone of these Descendants would want to partner themselves with him. Most of them hardly ever spoke to him, so why would they want to partner with him?

He sighed, and started towards one of the doors on the far end of the hall. But when he passed Mycroft, the man's arm stretched out to stop Tobias. "Mr. Lehnsherr?" he asked, holding a hand out towards his Magneto helmet.

"You said 'come prepared for battle.' This is what I need for battle." He held up the helmet, holding it through the eye slots.

"All the same, I cannot allow you to enter the simulation with it."

"It's a fucking helmet, Mycroft."

"A fucking helmet that blocks telepaths... That is the way I stay in contact with all of the Descendants while in the simulations. How else am I supposed to know if I need to pull you out of it?"

Tobias shrugs, giving a sarcastic head shrug. "I don't know... I'm almost dead?"

"No simulation is going to read your mind, Tobias. They are a computer program, nothing more."

Tobias' nostrils flared as Mycroft wasn't giving an inch. He raised the helmet and slammed it against Mycroft's chest as he walked past him towards the doors down the far end of the hall. He stopped in front of the door, clenching his jaw. He removed his jacket and placed it on the hook that hung off the wall besides the entrance to the simulation room. He took off his sunglasses, slipping them into the pocket of his jacket before he began rolling up the sleeves of his shirt. He checked the pocket of his jeans finding two golf ball sized metal balls. He tossed them up into the air once before putting them back into his pocket. Come prepared for battle... For everyone but the son of Magneto. Bullshit

***

Mycroft motioned for the other mentors to follow him towards the elevators. "The simulation will begin in 5 minutes. The doors will open when its time, dropping you a mile out from the base. You have that long to choose partners or prepare to enter alone. We will be on viewing level the next floor up. I will be in touch telepathically... If there is an emergency need to evacuate, let us know." Mycroft didn't need to turn around to know that Wren had a question.

Wren let her raised hand fall. "Ummm... telepaths can't read my mind?"

"I have the utmost confidence you won't need to be removed from the simulation. But if you do... I'm sure your mouth will let us know."

Wren scoffed, turning her attention back to the door in front of her. "Good thing you can't read my mind baldy," she grumbled to herself.

The mentors disappeared into the elevator, leaving the students with a small handful of minutes to prepared and make the necessary alliances if they so chose.

Even simulations, Frankie didn't like the idea that she may have to kill someone to get an envelope. Seems like a steep price. She already knew she'd want to take a more stealth approach to hopefully get in and out without being noticed. In the event of this being a real situation, she wouldn't want to kill everyone to get a single piece of information. Everyone is capable of coming back from the dark side... No matter how dark. She'd rather them spend time in prison, thinking on their crimes rather than in death. In death you can seek penance and forgiveness.

She glanced around the hall of classmates mentally tallying whom she thought would be the more stealthy of options. Astrid and James had the same moral drive as her to spare life. James tends to stick out like a sore thumb, but coming in from the sky versus the ground is easier, quicker and under the radar. With Astrid, they'd have no choice but to spill blood unless they somehow got the drop on every single person they came upon, and knocked them out before they saw them both.

Maura would be good for combat but Wolverine and Deadpool both were never known for their subtly, so that would without a doubt end in having to take lives... Artificial lives, but lives. Riley would be a good partner as well, morally, but no matter how Frankie added it up in her mind, she didn't know how they could get in and out without being noticed. Conrad could teleport in, but if she remembered correctly, his father could only teleport to places he's seen or been to before so that wasn't certain. Phoebe is an amazing dear as well, good moral stands, again the issue of stealth.

Frankie toiled over the options in her head as she looked around the collection of Descendants. She ringed her mask in her hands as she slipped her way through all of the people, smiling towards everyone and giving them reassuring brushes of her hand on their backs. She slowly came to a halt behind James, lightly tapping her finger against his shoulder to get his attention. "Hey," she said with a warm smile, all too known to Frankie. "Did, uh... Did you wanna pair up? Or were you wanting to Superman it alone?" She chuckled softly.

"I'd totally understand if you wanted to... I'm just wanting to take a more stealthy, spare the people approach." She brushes loose blonde locks behind her ears. "I'd also understand if you'd want to pair up with someone on your level... Like Phoebe or Petra or something." Frankie's brows furrowed when she realized she was rambling and probably sound idiotic.

Instead of standing around and rambling out more reasons as to why she'd understand if he didn't want to partner up with her, she made her way towards an unoccupied door. She looked at the flat metal surface before her, mentally kicking herself for being a bumbling idiot as she pinned her braids on her head. With a soft sigh, she pulled her mask over her head and then lifted up the hood. Frankie then proceeded to stretch. Lifting a foot into her hand and tugging to loosen a quad, putting her foot on a bench and leaning down until her forehead touched her knee. She always has been agile and flexible, but even superhumans can pull a muscle.

***

Ross was too tired to care about pairing up or not. This student is good with this, this descendant is good at that. Who cares? He was tired, cranky and getting hangry. His plan? Walk right in through the fucking door, travel through his mirrors until he ends up in the mainframe, get the fucking envelope and get out. Anyone who stops him will be trapped in a mirror and shattered on the floor. Sounded like a solid enough plan for him.

He didn't intend to finish off Frankie's coffee but he knew she wouldn't mind. He'd make it up to her by letting her play pacman later, it was always her favorite. Ross swerved his way to an empty door. Once in front of it, he took off his back pack, checking to make sure he had all his mirrors and blaster. He took out the mirror blaster, checking to make sure it was fully charged along with a compact mirror. Women used them for makeup, but it was perfect for him. He always liked to have a reflective surface on him at all times. He then rubbed his eyes and slapped his cheeks trying to wake himself up before the doors open.

Outfit Hexcode:#700909 Interacting with: Frankie Parker, Wren Wilson, Conrad Wagner

When Wren didn't immediately respond, Schuyler wondered if she had a cold or something. he merely smirked with Frankie batted her hands from her shoulder's with a smile. "You're talking more than she is right now." She said and Schuyler merely shrugged. "Oh certainly, but I've never pretended I was capable of otherwise." She said with an 'I'm quite pleased with myself' grin. It when then that Jack appeared. She had a respect for Wren, something like a rivalry, but this asshole, she had no idea what crawled up his ass and died but the resulting infection made him lash out at her. He always had so fuckery to spew from his mouth that was hardly clever enough to merit Schuyler's respect. Wren was clever, Jack was not.

"I wouldn't waste your time, Schuyler," He said as he walked by. "The Daily Bugle isn't a gossip column. They have no patience for hearsay." Schuyler palmed her forehead. See, not clever at all. When she first got to Midgard, she took things quite literal, now, she understood sarcasm and irony as if she was born here, what the hell Jack's excuse was, she couldn't say.

"I sleep less than Schuyler showers," Wren commented and Schuyler rolled her eyes. "Come now, Wren, Darling, You can do better than that, Careful, we don't want Jack's 'wit' rubbing off on you." She said just as the hall began to fill with other students. She noticed Phoebe Prince and appreciate that she wasn't the only one in full battle regalia, everyone else wore some costume that while was built for their unique abilities, weren't very subtle. She was never meant to be subtle, she was a warrior, an Asgardian Warrior, and as was Phoebe.

It was then that Mycroft began to speak and Schuyler was all ears. She might be a certain way with her fellow classmates, but teachers or at least the teachers here always had her utmost respect. They were the ones to make her feel welcomed and at home. Without them, she'd have already lost herself to her demon. Her classmates thought she was bad now...they haven't seen a thing.

It seemed a simple enough task but the package couldn't be damage, she got the feeling there was much more to it than that. Was it really just an envelope? Or was it something they were calling an envelope? Something was off here, Mycroft said it was harder then it sound and that she believed, but she got the feeling it was even harder than that. These training sessions had as of late been putting Magic training in the Hall to shame. If Mycroft said it was hard, she expected it to be harder still.

She looked at the group and considered a partner. Teams of two would be much more efficient than going it alone, which would have been something she preferred. This wasn't a simple smash and grab. her first thought was Conrad. his ability to teleport gave him an upper hand but that only worked if he'd been to that room previously. She could teleport too but that was the same way. She needed someone who balanced her abilities. She was brute force, Her powers were better suited to head on attacks and diversions, she could hold off an army, so sh need someone who was better suited for stealth to counter that but who?

Her next thought was Phoebe but now, she was a vanguard like herself, so now. She skipped over Jack Murdock because though he would be ideal, his mouth would have him strung up on the hole before the damn thing started, besides the fact that she wasn't asking him to be her partner...he was too childish to understand the tactical advantages of them teaming up. Wren was too much for flare, she too was more of a diversion. Frankie was her next choice but then she saw that she'd chosen a partner, which was good, she chose Kent, which tactically sound. Whether they knew that or not, she couldn't say but it was still a good choice. Then it was Caitria, she was fast, which was grossly understated but still. She would be best for such a thing. She turned to Conrad though, he was her best friend, she couldn't not choose him and his powers while hey weren't as ideal as Caitria, they could d the job, it would just be a bit harder, and take a little longer.

"Conrad!" She called to him, striding up to him in all of her Asgardian glory. "Team up?" She asked with a smirk.

"Hello, Caitria, my dear," Caitria turned to face Xavier, protege of Dr. Strange. He, like her, wasn't the most trusted person in the academy. "The breezes of the night are calming to you?" To be honest, Caitria always found it a tad hard to find a good response to Xavier's style of speech.

"I have no opinion on night breezes, to be honest," Caitria responded lightly, taking the question quite literally. "Is life going well for you?" However, before Xavier could respond, Mycroft had cleared his throat, grabbing the students' attention.

"Alright, simmer down," he waited, his stance almost rigid and his eyes stoic and cold as the descendants finally gave him their attention. His stance reminded Caitria of Thaleia Castle, to be honest. "... Finally."

Mycroft took a deep breath and motioned to the doors on either side of the hall. "As you've probably guessed, this is a training exercise. Evil and intergalactic threats couldn't care less if you've had your full 8 hours or not. So you must be prepared at any moment, hungry, tired or injured to fight and accomplish what you must."

You're supposed to sleep eight hours every night? Caitria thought. ...oops.

"I'm sure most of you are assuming this shall be another sparring exercise where we pair you off and let you fight," Mycroft continued. "But we're beyond that now. That was to prepare you for whatever threat you may face, but now we are going to assess you. This exercise is the most realistic and likely of situations you will encounter thus far. We do not want you to take it lightly for we will not assess you lightly. You receive either a pass or fail. There are no in-betweens or partial grades."

Phil took Mycroft's place, talking about how they got an exact replica of Hydra's facilities in each stimulation room. "Your objective will be to penetrate their defenses—" Phil's gaze did not falter. "Not a word Ms. Wilson."

Wren groaned. "I didn't say anything...yet," she mumbled.

Phil sighed, before continuing on. "As I was saying...penetrate their defenses, and gain access to their base. You need to get to their mainframe in the basement... Within there, there is a single manila envelope. You are to retrieve this envelope and return it to us."

Caitria had superspeed on her side. She was the fastest person in the Academy. This couldn't be so hard...right?

Unfortunately, Mycroft, like always, had to ruin it all. "It is not quite that simple...so before you start acting like this is a cake walk...there are some guidelines. The envelope must not be damaged in any way, so blowing up the facility is not an option." Caitria had to bite a lip to stifle her yell of "Goddammit!" She brought improvised nuclear bombs with her. Now the only possible way to use them is to calculate the blast radius precisely to make sure the envelope wasn't damaged in any way. "We'll allow folding it to put in a pack or pocket... But burns, tears, water damage, etc. are unacceptable. You also may not open the envelope. The contents are highly secretive and delicate."

The mentors continued their long speech of instructions, before they closed the lecture to an end. Caitria raised her eyebrows at the mention of partners, and started calculating pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses. Did Caitria actually need a partner? After all, she was incredibly speedy. If she was stealthy enough, she could zip through the base, grab the envelope, and zip back out without drawing any attention to herself. No one in Hydra was as fast as her (Caitria tried not to sound cocky). It'd be hard for anyone to keep up with her, since the Flash is the fastest being on Earth (well, there were problems with Reverse-Flash, but that threat was eliminated early on).

If Caitria did this solo, all she had to do was make sure to keep an eye out for alarms and threats in general. If someone did intend to attack her, Caitria was definitely not completely defenseless. Being known for superhuman speed made others forget about her other abilities. Caitria had calculated every variable for the perfect punches, kicks, etc., to take down almost anybody. Speed could be an asset in combat, and not just for dodging.

Caitria made her (relatively simple) decision. She was going solo, but if anyone wanted to team up, they would approach her themselves. Caitria knew that some of her peers were considering her as an ally, but so far, they've turned her away, and the blonde was perfectly fine with that.

Andrew was taking this partner thing very seriously.

So far, no one approached him. So he had time to think. Hmm...what advantages would his abilities provide, and what weaknesses did they harbor?

Andrew's powers were mainly offensive, considering the fact that he could form weapons out of his limbs, but some of his powers, such as his camouflage, provided a mainly defensive advantage.

Andrew swore that he literally considered everybody in the room.

Wren - nope, they were too similar, plus, Jack Murdock approached her anyway. Tobias - eh. Frankie - nah, she approached James. Good choice, though. Ross - he was totally cool, but he looked shit tired and ready to rock the assignment on his own. Arthur...the two didn't exactly know each other well. At all. Caitria was a good asset to have, but with her powers, she could probably seal the deal by herself. Thaleia - no offense, but did anyone want to work with her? Xavier was a cool guy, but something about him irked Andrew. T'Chioke looked like he was considering Phoebe as a partner. Petra was mainly an offensive fighter. Riley made a good choice, attempting to partner up with Maura (although it was a bit obvious that he was kind of scared of her, in a way). Andrew and Jaxon were definitely buds, but to be honest, Jaxon wasn't exactly the best choice of a partner for the dark-eyed symbiote.

Ah, Andrew was not good at this pros and cons thing when it came to choosing partners. He would try to succeed by himself, but if anybody came up to him, Andrew decided, he would definitely put them into consideration.

To be honest, although Thaleia strongly preferred to work alone, she didn't mind teaming up with someone as much as she minded making friends. Many thought she just didn't like people in general, and while that was the case most of the time, if partnering up with someone was vital to achieving a goal, then Thaleia would suck it up and do so.

Despite that, Thaleia actually did have preferences in her life - most of them she chose to ignore for the "greater good", or at least, her interpretation of it. But the thing Thaleia was most picky about in life was people, no surprise there. Some thought she was just cold and unsociable, but believe it or not, Thaleia was cold for everybody's own good - and perhaps, out of a little fear. Thaleia believed she wasn't thinking completely rationally when it came to this friend thing, but the pure percentage of loved ones killed by the same group of murderers was simply astounding. Although Thaleia did kill people for a living - many complained about her messed-up morals - she hated it when people killed the innocent.

Thaleia never understood the point of killing her loved ones. If someone wanted to extinguish her will to do her job as the Punisher, they were doing a shit job of it.

It seemed as though many of her peers have partnered up already. Of course, all the good ones were taken. If Thaleia was completely honest, she wasn't exactly confident in her ability to fulfill this task. HYDRA was comprised of mutants, and as much as Thaleia hated to admit it, she was still a human. Her combat skills were astounding compared to other humans, but mutants actually had powers. Even though this was only a simulation, that lowered Thaleia's chanced at succeeding significantly.

But due to her slowness, many of the good partners were already taken. Thaleia may sound like a machine, comparing people as if they were tools, but that was just how she was.

Thaleia still had to remember, that despite her skill with weapons, she had no supernatural powers of her own. A partner would help substantially.

Thaleia's eyes roamed over the remaining options, landing on the most unexpected choice.

Tobias.

Yes, to say that Thaleia was surprised at her subconscious mind's choice was an understatement. But the choice was actually fitting, considering the circumstances. Sure, Tobias had no need to partner up with Thaleia, but she was going to ignore that for the moment. Most people avoided Tobias due to his social adeptness and parentage, not his powers. Thaleia didn't care about either of those factors, so she had no reason to avoid him. Plus, it wasn't like they were enemies. Thaleia may never be Tobias' best friend, but they were similar in a sense that actually worked. Despite Thaleia's distaste of being fond of anyone, she wouldn't leave Tobias to die, so she supposed there would be some form of trust in that partnership.

Thaleia didn't care what others thought of her; after all, if she did, she would be drowning in despair at this point. She also didn't have any fear of being rejected; if Tobias didn't want her as a partner - which would be the most likely outcome - she was just going to rough it out herself.

Before she knew it, Thaleia was approaching the son of Magneto. She wasn't exactly socially adept, so this might be a problem. "Hey," she started, rather emotionless, but not too cold. "Would you have anything against partnering up with me?"

The conversation between Xavier and Caitria was cut off abruptly as Mycroft - one of the so-called mentors spoke up and gained the attention of the lots of them. That man is rather notorious for being a rather moody and hard-to-please character, much unlike his father whom Xavier found to be a rather inspiring man. But, it's not like that he hasn't seen all sorts of people out there. An 'old' man like him may not be so young and wild like his seniors around him, but he is quite confident that he is somewhat more seasoned than them in terms of relationships and reading someone, even without his telepathic abilities. He can work fine with just about anyone, if this assignment requires him to, though usually he would stick to himself if no one else is up to teaming up with him.

Xavier stood still with his arms crossed as he took in every word from Mycroft. But this is not something that he didn't expect though. Having been in this Academy longer than almost every other descendants, there's nothing that he hadn't been put to gone through. This mission is quite simple. Infiltrated a simulated Hydra base within the simulation rooms that the mentors have set up - which according to them, strays not an inch from reality itself, meaning everything happens in there will really affect you, be it a small injury or losing a limb, and retrieve an envelope holding some sorts of secretive information that should not be disclosed. As the envelope must not be damaged, obliterate the whole base in one move is not a viable option.

"So, it's just another infiltration session, hmm? I would be lying if I say I didn't expect something more, but I welcome all challenges." Xavier commented.

He is fine with both frontal and stealth tactics, but if he were to take a whole faction head-on, it would benefits him more if the settings are somewhere in the outside air, where he can freely let his magic roams about. But, since this is confined in a base of sorts, sneaking in will be more suitable. With his powers, Xavier can study the structures of the base in matters of minutes, and his presence sensor can warn him of any threats coming up, keeping the number of encounters with the simulated Hydra guards at the minimum. The capability to tamper with memories come in real handy here, since Xavier would have no needs dirty his hand to literally eliminate any threats, though he has no qualms doing so if he must. Walking in like a calm breeze, sneaking out like a graceful wind. That's how he would work.

If he had decided to go the stealth route, going by himself would get him to the designated target faster, as he wouldn't be weighed down. But, Xavier is not that reckless. He needs someone to got his back should he runs into some kind of anti-magic zones, since Hydra would be well-equipped to counter pretty much everything. To have a view of what you are about to face is the first step to lead to success, after all.

Xavier gave an quick glance over the other descendants. While he has no problem working with just about anyone, someone who wouldn't shed a doubt over his abilities and coordinates will with him would be more favorable. Petra and Schuyler are two picks he thought of firstly, since, well, they belonged to magic team. But, since Petra would probably be busy putting her guard over him more than the Hydra guards, and her rather unstable powers might turn out to be a hindrance at the worst moments, she is off the list. Schuyler would make a good teammate, thanks to her cleverness and capability to be tactical, but she seemed to have already found another teammate, so she's also out.

He gave the remaining descendants a thought. So far, those whom he thought to work the best with him have already found their own halves, so he turned his attention to those who are less of a perfect match for him, but can still do a good job if they are willing to listen. Magic really did give one a versatility to fit in any situations, after all. Caitria can be hard to catch up with her speed, but he can teleport so it's not too much of a big deal. The same also goes to Conrad. Tobias is a bit of a wild card. The young man can work well with his capabilities and he is not as overly cautious as Petra is, so the two of them may fit, as tempting it is for Xavier to observe how he acts.

But now when Xavier gives it a second thought, pairing up with someone who is daring enough to gain attention, while he sneaks behind and finish off anything that might come in the way, clearing a path straight to the envelope probably will help them to accomplish their task faster. And, that is when Jaxon came to him, asking him to be his partner. Of course, he would jump at the chance, "Seems like the two pieces of the puzzles fit again this time, my dear Jaxon." He nodded to the younger man with his usual gallant smile, "Let's show them what we've got, shall we? I'm sure you will literally blaze a trail over those simulated guards, and I'd gladly got your back."

Wren sighed as she stared at the back of the steal door. God did five minutes seem to take forever to pass. She let her right hand drop to her side, pulling the pistol from her thigh holster. She popped out the clip, making sure it was full.

She froze holding the clip in her left hand, gun in her right when she heard someone step up beside her. "Hey again, Wrenpool." Jack fucking Murdock. Wren remained completely stoic, only her feet moving as she pivoted around to face him. "Question for you...are you feeling like speedrunning this thing? Cause I definitely feel like speedrunning this thing."

Her gaze fell to his red helmet that he spun in his hands. Before Jack continued talking, she shoved the clip back into the pistol. Her free left hand snatched his helmet and slid it halfway onto her head over her mask. "Of course, you're more than capable of handling this yourself. It would be nice to have some backup though." He leaned closer to her. "And with my senses, we'd be able to find that damn envelope in less than five minutes."

Of course Wren liked the idea. Why wouldn't she? But Jack's idea of speedrunning and hers... Were different... Very different. If Jack had even a sliver of what his dad had, there's the whole no killing dilemma. While Wade and Wren like guns. She wondered if he considered that before he approached her? Or was determined in finding one of the more capable students to be in and out in a jiff so he could go back to bed.

"Partners?" he asked, extending his hand towards her.

Wren snorted, cocking the slide on her pistol as she stared at his hand. "You do realize I'm as subtle as Santa Claus on the fourth of July, right?" She flicked his Daredevil helmet back like a baseball cap. "I planned on strolling right in there. Setting off the alarm, and letting those Hydra fucks come to me. Pow. Pow. Pow." She aimed her gun around in circles pretending to shoot it with every pow.

She sighed, slipping her pistol back into its holster. "But you're not bullet proof. So... I either go maximum effort with my swords, or you..." She hooks her finger in his utility belt as she steps closer. "Whip out a silencer from your batman belt."

Wren smirked, although it wasn't totally visible through her mask. She raised her right hand and removed his helmet. Then she placed it on his head, then slid her hand into his palm, barely enough room between the two of them as they shook hands.

***

Tobias clenched his jaw, staring blankly at the steel door before him. The metallic balls floating clockwise above his right palm. He just wanted the damned doors to open so he could get this over. He was so focused on his anger towards Mycroft and devising a plan of attack in his mind, that he didn't notice Thaleia approach until she spoke. "Hey," she said.

He nearly dropped the metal balls when his concentration was broken. Tobias partially turned, glancing over his shoulder at her. He was certain he probably looked similar to a deer in highlights. Not that he minded being approached or talked to, but he certainly wasn't used to it. "Hi?"

"Would you have anything against partnering up with me?"

Well, he doubted she was there to ask him how he slept or what product he used in his hair... Although he got that question a lot. "I... uh... sure. Why not." Solid response. In his defense, he was still surprised. "I didn't really plan on a stealth approach. If we set of the alarms immediately, you could take offense while I keep the fire power away from you. We'd have everyone dead before entering the building."

Tobias shrugged his shoulders, sliding the metal balls into his pocket before completely turning to face her. "Unless you had a better plan of attack?... You're not Steve Rogers or Peter Parker, so I assume you have no issue spilling blood."

Frankie slowly leaned over, wrapping her arms around her legs to stretch the back of her legs and back. As she stood there folded in two, she saw Phoebe approach her from the corner of her eyes. She smiled, but her mask probably veiled most of that from her friend. "Hey," Phoebe said, snaking up beside her.

"Hey there," Frankie said as she stood upright.

"You two are going to make a great team!"

Frankie glanced over her shoulder towards James with a smile, then looked back towards Phoebe. "Figured his x-ray vision could be useful... Or ya know, muscles." She laughed.

Phoebe seemed nervous as she stepped closer, and spoke softly. "Um...so Jack had plans to partner with someone else...I don't know if I'll be able to do this alone. Is it possible...that, uh...that you might...have any suggestions?"

"Hmmm..." Frankie looked around, thinking of who would be a good match for Phoebe.

But before she could say anything, T'Chioke approached. Frankie gave him a slight wave of her fingers. “Pardon my intrusion, but I was hoping I could talk to Phoebe. I’m in need of partner if you’d like to join me.”

"She'd be happy to!" Frankie smiled, giving her friend a playful nudge with her elbow. "Kick some ass."

Ross squatted down on the ground, removing his backpack. He unzipped it, slipping his sunglasses into it. He rubbed his eyes with a yawn, before pulling out his mirror blaster and a compact mirror the size of a cellphone. He closed up the pack and put it back on as he stood. Flipping open the compact mirror, he wiped it off on his shirt. Quick in, quick out. All for a bloody fuckin' envelope.

When he looked up, Ross noticed Petra standing a lone at the door beside him. He ignored it for awhile, sliding the mirror into his pocket and checking his mirror blaster to make sure it's at full power. "Eh red?" he said towards her with a nod of his head. Once he had gotten her attention, he took a step in her direction.

It wasn't like he thought Petra needed a partner. To the contrary, she could probably kill ever Hydra solider with a snap of her finger. But still... it was odd one of the weaker students wasn't chomping at the bit to try and snag her as a partner. Of course, Ross fell into that category. But that's a technicality. His mirrors gave him some abilities that even the supers didn't have. So, he was mortal. That just makes things interesting. He didn't need a partner and neither did she, but knowing that at least someone would enjoy teaming up with you makes it all better.

Ross cleared his throat, holding his blaster between his left bicep and ribcage. "I know ya don' need a partner. I'd bet you could bloody well destroy everyone with a wave of yer hand. But... If'd like someone to have yer back, you can always go in with meh." He gave a slight smile with a shrug of his shoulders. "I could get us in and out easy enough. Throw in your finger wiggles, we can be back in bed before they know what hit 'em."

With that, he nodded his head towards her and walked back over towards his own door. Ross' free hand rubbed his eyes, yawning yet again. He figured if Petra wanted to take him up on his offer, she'd com over to him. If not? Well, he'd do it solo then.

***

When the five minutes were up, an alarm bell dinged throughout the hall. Then all at once, the steel doors opened into the simulation rooms. The corridor instantly was flooded with blizzard winds whipping out from the rooms. The simulation dropped them at the top of a snow covered hill in the middle of a snow storm at night. Surrounding the hill is a thick forest that stretches for a mile before opening up to a Hydra base nearly the size of the pentagon. Twenty stories high, with twenty more sublevels. Over 500 soliders secured the premises on the grounds and throughout the building. They have heavy artillery, trip lines and men stationed at every turn. The main frame is located on the lowest level behind 3 foot thick bullet proof glass, no way in or out other than that door.

***

Wren clapped her hands together with a bounce in her step, before flicking her index finger on the horn on Jack's helmet. "Come on Evel Knievel, let's see those moves."

With that, she skipped her way through the door and out into the knee deep snow. Wren stopped at the top of the hill, raising her left hand to block the snow from blowing into her face so she could get a good look at the base. It was large... She couldn't tell how many were down there, but there was enough.

But instead of devising a plan of attack, a way of penetrating the facility... Wren yanked off her left glove and threw it into the wind. "Let it go!" She spun around in a circle with her arms spread. "Let it—" She quickly snapped out of it, chasing after the glove. "Get back you piece of shit!" She jumped up in the air, snatching it back and quickly slid it on her hand.

She looked back towards Jack, sifting her way through the snow in his direction. "We're... a mile out? We could try to hit the base from the back," Wren snorted at the pervertedness of her statement. "Or go right in through the front doors. I'll leave that up to you handsome." With that she hopped onto his back, piggyback style. Her left arm wrapped around his torso, while her right hand pointed forward. "Mush!!"

***

When the doors flew open, Tobias instinctually turned his back towards the wind, blocking himself and Thaleia. He clenched his jaw, reaching up and taking his jacket from the hook he placed it on. Turns out he'd be needing it after all. After zipping it up, he motioned his hand for the lady to go first. Not out of fear or because she expendable, but because, despite what people think, he is a gentleman.

Tobias followed Thaleia into the simulation, tucking his hands into his pockets. He trudged his way through the deep snow, squinting through the snow to try and get a good view of the base. He pointed his hand towards the building, then looked back towards his partner. "We could walk, take out a couple on our way... Or..."

He hesitated before speaking again, it was a weird statement that he was used to a negative response. "If you trust me, I could fly us there... You could pick some off with a silencer, or just blast away like Wren Wilson. I suggest stealth while mid air, it's more difficult to curve bullets and focus on levitating two people." Tobias raised his brows in her direction. "But I'll leave that up to you..."

***

Frankie turned her face away from the door when the freezing air blasted through the open doorway and hit her like a train. She raised her right arm to block as much of it as possible as her steps sunk into the deep snow. Thankfully her mother's suit, although thin, blocked a lot of the cold and wind, but that didn't mean she couldn't feel it. She wasn't sure if James would follow or not but either way it was a mile trek to the base... And swinging on webs through a dense forest is a quick way to turn into George of the jungle, and slam into a tree.

So with a deep breath, she crossed her arms, tucking her hands under them and started walking towards the bunker. Thankfully, her suit was partly white... That had to be some advantage right?

***

Ross tugged the beanie tighter onto his head as he walked against the strong winds into the simulation. Once at the peak of the hill, he studied the base. Luckily for him there were windows... Which meant reflective surfaces. He glanced back over his shoulder towards Petra, adjusting his backpack, tightening the straps. "The only reflective surfaces I can make out 're the windows of the buildin' itself. So, the minute we step through, we'll most likely meet dick heads 'n guns."

He pulled the compact mirror out of his pocket, staring into the surface searching for the appropriate window. "If we both go in opposite directions, we could take out who ever is in the room." Ross dropped the mirror on the ground, with the reflection facing upward. He shot it once with his mirror blaster. He glanced over his shoulder towards Petra, extending his right hand towards her. "Do ya trust meh?"

Caitria saw a few people consider her as a partner - how nice, she was flattered - but they all seemed to turn her down in their minds. Good thing for Caitria. She wasn't a mind-reader, she didn't know why they stopped considering her, but with her speed, a partner may just slow her down. Of course, there were always a few exceptions. Xavier could possibly keep up with his magic, but Jaxon approached him. Caitria always thought that Doctor Strange was as cool as hell - nothing against her dad, though. But if those few who considered her eliminated her as a choice because they thought they were going to slow her down, then Caitria was sincerely flattered by their thoughtfulness. Not everyone was selfless.

The alarm bells ringed down the hall as the five minutes were up. The steel simulation doors opened and Caitria immediately felt blizzard winds. She grit her teeth. The cold slowed her down more than any of her peers could in a million years. She had to be fast in more than one way.

Caitria zipped through the cold. She analysed the Hydra building quickly; superhuman speed meant superhuman speed reading and superhuman evaluating. You get the idea.

There were many, many guards. But Caitria could move at the speed of light if she wanted to. Even if the Hydra alarms were that high-tech, Caitria could find the envelope and walk out of the simulation in less than a fraction of a second. The speed of light traveled at 299,792,458 meters per second, or approximately 186,282 miles. Caitria didn't even have to go near that fast to finish this challenge without batting an eye.

No, literally without batting an eye.

Caitria dashed into the building, into the basement, avoiding all the guards and soldiers. The mainframe was locked and sealed by a three-foot thick door made of bulletproof glass. Sure, the blonde could steal a key card, but the guards might notice the door opening. She had a more effective way anyway.

Caitria started vibrating, faster and faster, until the molecules of her body were loose enough to pass through a tangible object. She ran through the door, the guards not noticing a thing. The door was unaffected.

Caitria snatched the manila envelope, shoving it somewhat gracefully in her pocket to avoid it catching fire whilst she ran. The blue-eyed speedster dashed out of the building and out of the simulation, the entire process taking less than even a fraction of a second.

She sauntered into the hall, waving the envelope in the air. "I'm finished, Mycroft! What's my grade?"

If Caitria wasn't the first done, she'd be sorely disappointed.

Andrew, who was absentmindedly letting his gaze roam over the assembling pairs while waiting for the five minutes to be up, almost choked when he saw Thaleia Castle approach Tobias.

You couldn't exactly blame him. Thaleia Castle? Well, she was known for being the complete ice queen at the Academy. For her to actually approach someone, especially Tobias Lehnsherr, in attempt to partner up, was enough to blow Andrew's mind.

Andrew almost didn't notice Lilith head towards him, but caught her approaching at just the right moment. "Would you mind if we teamed up?" the blonde asked. Andrew almost did a double-take; he didn't expect anybody to request to be his partner. "No obligation necessary."

Of course, while some of the students were better off than others for this assignment (such as Caitria; Andrew was almost jealous of her ability to just zip into a building at the speed of freakin' light and head out with barely any effort), a partner was a good asset to have.

But Andrew had to wonder, what did Lilith have to offer? Sure, she was the daughter of Poison Ivy, but in the end, this Hydra thing was a simulation.

However, Andrew had to assume that her ability with toxins and poisons would help. Plus, unlike some people, he didn't thing in a purely logical manner. It wasn't exactly easy for him to turn down an offer, especially if it offered no disadvantages.

Andrew grinned, facing Lilith. "Sure," he said. "Why not?"

Abruptly, the alarm bells dinged throughout the hall, the strong winds blowing into Andrew's face as the simulation doors opened, catching him off-guard. He turned to Lilith.

"Ideas?" he asked loudly over the sound of the roaring winds, giving his partner a chance to suggest some things.

Tobias nearly dropped his metal spheres when Thaleia spoke up. He turned his head, glancing over his shoulder. Thaleia had to refrain from laughing; Tobias Lehnsherr was looking like a deer in headlights, and the expression wasn't exactly a natural fit for him. "Hi?" the son of Magneto squeaked out.

"Would you have anything against partnering up with me?"

"I...uh...sure. Why not." Tobias managed to crank out a response as Thaleia raised an eyebrow, not particularly impressed. Then again, she couldn't exactly blame him. Practically no one ever approached a Lehnsherr, much less Thaleia Castle, the daughter of the Punisher who was basically 100% antisocial. Two wrongs make a right, the brunette supposed.

"I didn't really plan on a stealth approach," Tobias continued, regaining his composure. "If we set off the alarms immediately, you could take offense while I keep the fire power away from you. We'd have everyone dead before entering the building." That would work, Thaleia supposed.

Tobias shrugged, sliding his metal balls - good God, that sounded wrong - into his pocket before completely turning to face her. "Unless you had a better plan of attack? ...You're not Steve Rogers or Peter Parker, so I assume you have no issue spilling blood."

Thaleia scoffed. "No one should have a problem spilling simulated blood," she quipped. "But yes, I could kill ten people in a row without batting an eye, as long as it's justified. I don't slaughter the innocent; it's not worth my time."

A few moments after Thaleia said that sentence, the five minutes were up as an alarm bell dinged throughout the hall. The doors flew open, and Tobias instinctively turned his back towards the wind, blocking himself and Thaleia. The son of Magneto zipped up his jacket and motioned with his hand, allowing Thaleia to go first. She raised an eyebrow, but had no real problem with it as she entered the simulation.

Thaleia trudged through the snow, blocking out the cold. Tobias pointed towards the Hydra building, before looking back at Thaleia. "We could walk, take out a couple on our way...or..."

Tobias hesitated, as if he wasn't sure whether or not to propose his idea. Thaleia gestured for him to continue. She wasn't the most patient person out there. "If you trust me," he started, "I could fly us there...you could pick some off with a silencer, or just blast away like Wren Wilson. I suggest stealth while mid air, it's more difficult to curve bullets and focus on levitating two people." Tobias raised his eyebrows. "But I'll leave that up to you..."

Thaleia shrugged. "Well, last time I checked, it was your dad who's evil, not you," the brunette stated rather bluntly. "No reason not to trust you, and I'm not squeamish." Thaleia directed her gaze to the tall tattooed man. "Knock you socks off. Just don't kill me, and this partnership'll work."

The second Caitria finished her exercise and stepped out from the door, the simulation shut off revealing a fifty foot by fifty foot square room as the door closed behind her.

Mycroft sat in his chair before the dozens of monitors beside Coulson. He leaned forward in his seat and checked off her name on his clip board in the pass box. He then pressed the button for the intercom so that he could speak to her. "Congratulations Ms. Allen. You are the first to finish your simulation. We ask that you take a seat in the lobby at the far end of the hall as we wait for your other classmates finish."

Phil then leaned forward, adding another comment. "Although you passed the simulation Ms. Allen, we ask that next time you are posed with a circumstance like this that you consider team work. Those that fight alone die alone... Everyone needs alliances because you won't always be faced with a situation where your particular skill set is the best option. Everyone at this academy has a specific set of skills that are different anyone else. You shouldn't be so quick to discredit that."

Mycroft cleared his throat. "Do not open that envelope.... we'll still fail you if you open it, or if you leave before everyone has rejoined us."

***

Wren looked up from the ground when Jack entered the mainframe. "Took ya long enough diablo,"she pushed off the wall, taking a step towards him.

"Great job. You've alerted every guard to our presence. Now we can't leave unless we've terminated them all."

"I said I'd try not to set the alarm off. I promised nothing."

"They're coming," Jack said, sounding a bit frantic. He quickly moved around the room like a busy bee while she stood unhelpfully in the way with her arms crossed watching him. He slammed the door shut and found a metal chair to prop against it. Oh, yeah sure. That'll stop them. "It's unhelpfully small, but there's a scanner inside the glass. I think it's one of those retinal-lock things? Don't know for sure. The glass is bulletproof, so breaking through is out of the question. We need to crack the lock to get in."

Wren sighed while rolling her eyes. "Oh, don't go getting your horns in a knot." She pulled her right pistol from its holster, checking the clip... Empty. That's what she figured. She took a step back looking around the room, checking trajectory from the entrance and available combat space.

While her mind was trying to piece together some semblance of a plan, Jack walked over to the door. Hydra soldiers furiously banging on the other side while he prepared to move the chair. "You ready for this, Wrenpool?"

She was snapped back to the current moment, holding out her hands. "Wait... woah. Do you have some kind of death wish Sparky?" Wren walked over to him, yanking his hand away from the chair. As she spoke, she started moving him into the position she figured had the best chance of not getting hit by ricochet bullets. "I may have set the alarm off, but you failed to kill you half."

Wren grabbed his shoulders, angling him just the way she needed. She took both of his hands, holding them roughly six inches apart with the palms upwards. "Don't move!" She unsheathed her katanas and walked over to the door. With one more warning glance, reiterated. "If you move, you'll probably die. So, just trust my mad genius once... Ok?"

With that, Wren raised her foot and kicked the chair out of the way, chucking it back against the wall. The door flew open. She didn't hesitate, plunging her blades straight through the first two soldiers faces. She then proceeded to kick the others out of the way and back, shifting her body to take as many bullets in herself as possible rather than risk morals over there. "Back the fuck up, ugly!" she shouted, head butting another solider as she herded the guards back, her blades still in the faces of the now dead soldiers.

As quickly as she could manage, Wren pivoted around, holding up an index finger towards Jack. "Be right back." Her finger shifted so that it now pointed accusingly at him. "Don't move." She grabbed the door, slamming it shut behind her.

All that could be heard was rustling and scuffling of dozens of feet. Random bursts of gun fire echoed throughout the hall, one ricochet bullet taking out the alarm. The occasional scream and groan was muffled from the other side of the door. "Ouch!" A loud thud banged into the wall. "That is no way to treat a lady!" Another round of fire exploded, a few zipping their way through the door but missed Jack.

Then the door was knocked backwards off its hinges. A decapitated body collapsing on top of it, into the mainframe. "Heads up!" Wren shouted at Jack, tossing him the head. The bloodies mass landed in his hands perfectly, just like she planned it. "Well don't just stand there! Open it!" She turned back to the few lingering soldiers that were in the hall. One felt the need to stab her in the side as her blade pierced the man beside him. With a swift move, she yanked her katana to the left, slicing it through the remaining hydra guards.

Wren ran up to stand behind Jack. Even with her red suit, it was obvious she was covered in a lot of blood. Her own, of course. Simulations can't bleed. She constantly kept looking back over her shoulder towards the door. There was more, and it was only a matter of time before they were there. It wasn't so much that she worried about her own safety... She'd live. But she didn't want Jack to get hurt... Because she'd fail. That obviously was the reason... The only reason.

Once he got the door open, she motioned her hand towards the envelope. "Put it in your suit, quickly." Jack had a bullet proof suit, if she remembered correctly. Wren, on the other hand, had no need for something like that. It'd just slow her down. But instead of letting him leave, she stepped in front of him, digging her hands into her utility belt. "Get ready."

Wren's hand emerged from her belt with a grenade in hand. The second the Hydra guards began to flood into the room, she pulled the pin free with her teeth and tossed the grenade out into the main room. Simultaneously, her right foot slammed the bullet proof door shut, locking them both behind its barrier. The soldiers scrambled over one another, racing out of the room. Wren quickly turned around, shoving Jack back against the wall farthest from the thick glass. She held him there, pinned against the wall. She pressed herself up behind him, trying to block as much of his body as possible with her hands on the wall.

She squinted her eyes and held her ground, fighting the urge to falter when the grenade went off. Although the glass wall was bullet proof, it wasn't explosion proof. It shattered on impact, sending shards flying in every direction. Wren winced as a fair amount lodged themselves in her, mostly small pieces aside from a couple knife sized pieces in her side, back and calf.

"Yup," Thaleia responded as she made her way to the entrance, scooping it out. "If we set the alarms off, just go crazy with your powers. Assuming your powers work on simulation."

Tobias slowly followed after her to the entrance, keeping the metal spheres in his left hand instead of returning them to his pocket. It would only eat up time if he had to get them out again. "Even if they don't... Between these and all the metal you have on you," he meant in weaponry. "We'll be fine."

Thaleia reloaded her guns as he waited patiently. "Let's go, Maggy Jr. Hope you aren't too touchy about nicknames."

Tobias' jaw clenched at the nickname. He didn't care about nicknames... But it was the fact he was referred to a junior version of his horrid father that set him on edge. Now was the time to get into an argument. So, instead of saying anything he swallowed it back.

She finally opened the door that lead down into the base, then turned towards him. "Feel free to do your thing."

He didn't argue. Tobias moved past her and quietly hurried down the stairs. When he reached a turn in the hall, he leaned back against the wall, peaking his head around the corner. Two guards stood talking at the far end with their backs to him. No better time to test how realistic Stark made this. He held up his right hand towards the men. For a moment nothing happened, then they started struggling and collapsed on the ground as he siphoned all the iron from their blood. He looked back over his shoulder at Thaleia. "They work."

At that moment, he almost flipped like a switch. Tobias didn't have to be stealthy anymore. With trigger finger behind him and his own powers. Alarm or no alarm... this simulation is over before it began. He lead them through the winding hallways, whenever they came across another Hydra soldier he either crushed their helmets with their skulls still inside, cut them in half with their own belts or even lodged their own gold teeth into their brain. He let Thaleia have some kills too. After all, it had to be fifty fifty. He had to restrain himself from killing all of them, but in his defense she chose him.

They reached a desk that sat across from the elevators. Tobias held his left hand out towards the lift, bringing it up to their level as he sifted through the paper work trying to find the location of the mainframe, but there was nothing. "Guess we'll have to go one floor at a time," he said with annoyance in his voice as he went to enter the elevator. Once inside, he looked to his left and nearly smiled at the sight of a floor plan on the wall. "Or... sublevel twenty. He pointed to its location on the map.

As the elevator doors opened, Tobias let the spheres fly from his hand passing completely through the heads of the men guarding the mainframe. He finally slid them back into his pocket as he walked right up to the bullet proof glass. He gave it a couple knocks with his knuckles. His gaze shifted over to the envelope, but it didn't budge. No metal. He looked back at Thaleia. "You're up again... But those won't work." He motioned to her guns.

***

"Yeah, I'm fine," Nathaniel said as Frankie made sure she didn't scuff him up in the process of getting him in the base. Before he could reply to her comment about having no further plans, shadows grew bigger as they headed their way down the hall. Nathaniel charged at them and took them out without a fuss, returning to her with them both unconscious. "My turn."

Frankie kept an eye on the hall in the other direction as he checked a near by room and chucked the guards inside. She followed Nathaniel in when he motioned for her to follow him. He pointed at the guards as he spoke. "Tie those three up and wipe a key card. We're going to work our way down to the envelope incapacitating each guard we come across."

She walked over to the unconscious men, easily moving them all into a slumped pile in the corner. With a couple shots from her web shooters, they were stuck against the wall. Frankie also made sure to cover their mouths so they didn't alert anyone else about them. She grabbed one of their key cards as she watched Nathaniel as he removed his mask to put in an ear piece. He then came over to her and held out another one for her. Frankie pulled off her mask, messing up her blonde hair in the process. She put the piece in her ear with a slight smile.

"Are you ready for this, Francita?"

Frankie couldn't help but laugh slightly. She nodded her head but quickly caught up behind him before he got far down the hall. "Wait, hold on." She moved around in front of him, tucking her mask under her left arm. Her right hand waved the key card. "I don't have pockets in this thing," she explained before holding the car between her teeth. Her hands unzipped the pouch on his belt, then slipped the card into it. "Thanks," she smiled up at him before putting her mask back on.

She followed behind Nathaniel quietly, shooting webs over every surveillance camera whenever they turned a corner. Frankie continually checked behind them, occasionally falling back to knock out a couple guards that were about to discover them. It seemed the lower they got, the more guards here were. When she saw oncoming shadows, she hopped up onto the ceiling crawling along it quickly and quietly, then jumped down behind the men, slamming their heads together. She snatched one of each of their feet and dragged them into a near by closet.

"How are you doing, Francita?"

"Somethings not right... there should be more of them," she commented in response to his question. Not much of answer considering it had nothing to do with how she was. But, it was a nagging sensation at the back of her mind that continued to grow.

Frankie turned around to look back at Nathaniel in time to see a handful of guards trying to get the jump on him. She quickly sprinted right at him. Just before she would have collided into him, she fell into a baseball, sliding underneath him. She knocked down the first guard then quickly did a kip-up so that she was standing. Her right foot slammed into the gut of another, sending him flying back into the wall. The last remaining guard grabbed her from behind, putting her in a choke hold. She struggled against his grasp, inching herself closer to the wall in front of her.

Once close enough that she could plant her foot on the wall, she ran her feet up the wall and flipped herself so that she was now behind him. Frankie then yanked off his helmet with her left hand and rammed his head into the wall, and tossed him to the ground. "If the guards are getting heavier the farther down we go... I'm betting this thing is on the bottom floor." She walked back over to Nathaniel. "I think we should just try to take the stairs all the way down, or it'll take us forever to reach it."

She started to walk down the hall towards the staircase and stopped midway. Frankie pivoted on her heels to face him. "Oh, I'm fine... Thanks for asking." She smiled as she finally addressed his question then continued towards the stairs.

***

"I had him," Petra commented in regards to him taking out the guards. He was sure she probably did, but she was more useful finding a way to get that envelope. Plus, Ross may be a thief and many other things, but he was still a gentleman. Which meant if he could, he'd fight so a woman wouldn't have to.

"I possess the power to sap your mind and replace it with my own, and I wield magics like Wren Wilson wields weapons, but sure, I will finger wiggle our way into this lock."

"Aye, that too." Ross chuckled as he watched her walk over to the lock. "But, finger wiggles is a lot more fun to say... Plus, I like da way yer nose scrunches up when yer frustrated." He smiled towards her.

Ross watched, leaning back against the wall as she did what she does best to break into the door. Could he have just gotten them inside with his mirror blaster? Well yeah. But this had to be a team effort. And... He always liked watched all that mystical mumbo jumbo go to town. He was a smart guy, contrary to popular belief. So, witnessing things that he couldn't do... No matter how many mirrors he made and subjects he studied, was interesting.

"There we go." Petra opened the door and went inside, grabbing the envelope. She then surrounded it with a force field. Smart. Ross never would have thought of that. He probably would have ruined it by shoving it in his pocket or something. Failure from ignorance.

"Shall we go?"

Ross smiled, pushing himself off the ground. "Like takin' candy from a babeh." He spun his mirror blaster around on his index finger like cowboys did with their guns. Then with a shot at the glass door, he took her hand and lead her back into the mirror world.

For some reason, it always seemed to be harder to find his way back. It seemed the more Ross went into the mirror world, that his memory of where he came from seemed to grow fuzzy. But he wouldn't let himself panic. He was going to find their way out because he wasn't going to doom someone else to a life trapped inside this place. It was a fate worse than death. Just before he was going to start worrying a bit, Ross saw a fracture in the mirrors that was all white. The white of a blizzard. Without hesitation, he shot it with his blaster and lead them both through it.

When they were back in the snow, Ross leaned down and picked back up his compact mirror, sliding it into his pocket. He then lead them both out of the simulation and into the hall. He had never been so happy to be back in the academy as he was at that minute. He felt like every part of him was going to shrivel up and break off... Especially the important bits.

As he tried to shake off the cold and warm up, Mycroft came over the P.A. "Congratulations Mr. McCulloch & Ms. Maximoff. If you could please go to the lounge at the end of the hall with your envelope. You will wait there until the remainder of your classmates finish the simulation."

"Oy, ya fackin' brit!" Ross cussed up at the ceiling. "I thought we were allowed ta go back to bed... Not wait on teh fackin' slow pokes." He sighed, looking over at Petra, nodding his head towards the lounge area. "After you."

"Wait...woah. Do you have some kind of death wish Sparky?"

His brows kneaded together. Did she not realize taking out the guards was not only mandatory, but the best way to stay alive? Doing nothing would be a death wish.

"Obviously not," he countered. "But if we don't defeat them now, then...what are you doing?"

She snatched Jack's hands away from the chair and pushed him backwards, angling his shoulders and hands as though he were a department store mannequin. What on earth was Wren Wilson up to now?

"Are you on crack or something?" he scoffed. Whatever she was doing, it was wasting time.

"I may have set the alarm off, but you failed to kill your half," she said.

"Yes, I know I'm a dummy. Is that your justification for moving me around like one?"

"Don't move!" she ordered, unsheathing her glinting katanas. Once she strided closer to the door, his puzzled brain finally pieced together the hazardous feat she was about to undertake.

"Okay, stop! You're insane!" he barked, breaking out of his position. Like he didn't already know Wren Wilson was the craziest beyotch in the academy. "You don't have to do this by yourself! Fifty fifty, remember? It's too dangerous to-"

The warning glance she shot was enough to shut him up. "If you move, you'll probably die," Wren stated. "So, just trust my mad genius once... Ok?"

He didn't like what she was doing. How could she force him to stand still when she didn't know for sure the swarm of enemies would overwhelm him? This scheme was worse than entering a boxing match with one broken arm. It was entirely impractical and made him feel like an ass. What if her nutty plan went wrong somewhere? He couldn't stand there and watch her perish. Or worse...

But it was something about her tone, her choice of words, that reassured him she knew what she was doing. And although she was unpredictable, Wren always had a grounded motive. She was reckless, but she wasn't stupid.

Jack sighed, returning back to the position his partner had placed him in. "Okay. But for the love of god...Please," he gritted, "Don't. Mess. This. Up."

And with that, she punted the metal chair into oblivion and speared her swords through two soldiers' faces like they were fish. Then a hailstorm of bullets cracked, and while Wren used her body as a human-ammo-shield, Jack employed his trusty senses to dodge stray shots. After headbutting another poor devil, she pivoted in place, holding up her index finger towards him. It was sharp, but not as sharp as the bullet holes which pierced her suit. The more he stared at them, the more he regretted agreeing to her plan.

"Wait, WREN -" he instinctively took a step forward.

"Be right back. Don't move." The door slammed.

Realizing there was nothing he could do to stop her, Jack released a worried groan and once again, returned to his former position.
While listening to the muffled sounds beyond the door, he tracked her position using radar sense. "Punch. Dodge. Slice." he muttered along with her movements, as if she could actually hear his directions. It was like silently coaching a newbie in the ring. When she stayed still instead of ducking, he heard a loud thud. "Ouch! That is no way to treat a lady!"

Frantically, he avoided some ricochet bullets that escaped through the door's fissures. Then it completely swung open, as in being knocked off its own hinges open. A decapitated body fell on top of it. Seeing Wren, he quickly rose his hands in the position she had placed them in before. "Heads up!" she cried, pun intended.

By god, he did not think she would mean that literally.

I am living in a freaking Tarantino movie he repeated to himself while realizing the head's features were Lanky Icicle Man's. If only he had stayed by that tank, he wouldn't have felt the steel wrath of Wren's blade. "Well don't just stand there! Open it!" she cried, continuing to swipe her katana back and forth like a painter who only used red. All she needed was a yellow track suit, and she was Beatrix Kiddo.

After pressing the head to the glass, the retinal scanner tolled a loud ding and the three-foot thick door slowly shifted open, allowing Jack to snatch the envelope from the mainframe. "Put it in your suit, quickly." Wren instructed. Hoping the manila wouldn't so much as crinkle underneath his padding, Jack unzipped the front of his costume and tucked the prized item into his chest, smoothing the paper out for good measure. He could hear the far-off rumpus of more footfall only a few stories above them. The group of soldiers, yet again, were heading down in their direction. And there were more of them.

"Get ready," Wren said, digging her hands into her utility belt. He turned to face her, noticing an alarming amount of crimson dripping from her suit. Of course, he couldn't exactly see such crimson, since his eyes didn't process the color, but the smell of blood was dreadfully pungent. Turns out that red she had painted with was her own - simulated soldiers had no need for bleeding.

"Let me handle this wave," he pleaded, putting a hand on her soldier. "You've done enough. You need to save your strength!"

But Wren had another cheeky trick up her sleeve, or rather, in her belt. She pulled out a grenade. An actual grenade. For some reason, he wasn't surprised.

The rest of the fight happened so fast, it dulled the intensity of his senses. As the soldiers flooded in, she tossed the unpinned grenade and slammed the door behind them. Then she held him against the wall with her arms as glass and bodies and rubble flew. He ground his teeth together, trying to remain in place against the booming explosion. Thanks to Wren's protection, no shrapnel pierced his suit.

Again, his ears rang. There was a certain morbid silence about the room, as well as a miasma of charred flesh and sawdust. But despite all of the grotesque sights and sounds and smells, Jack couldn't help but let out a cry of joy.

"WOO! That was amazing. Blood-pumping. I haven't felt that level of anxiety since-"

It was then he noticed the shards of glass embedded into Wren, some of them the size of knives.

"Shit...Goddamit. Okay," he exhaled, hoping she wouldn't faint on him. "I'm really sorry if this hurts..."

He quickly dislodged the large pieces from her side, back, and calf. There was nothing he could do about the smaller shards. But they were part of the simulation, so maybe if they hurried, the glass fragments would disappear. "Alright. Now it's my turn to help you." he said while placing her arm over his shoulders, guiding the limping girl through the maze of dead and groaning soldiers. Through the doorway, a strange-looking plastic card lay face-down on the ground. He leaned over for a moment, picking up the blue curiosity and seeing the word schlüsselkarte printed on its bottom. It took a good minute for him to realize it fit neatly through a slot next to a conveniently-placed elevator. Wait, there was a freaking elevator this whole time? Jesus, if only he had known that before...

Once the doors opened, he punched the ground floor button and made sure Wren was safely inside. "Geez," he mused to himself while the metal contraption rose. "I don't think I've had to complete a test this trippy since...well, since Xavier's." He thought of Phoebe, as well as the rest of his classmates. Were they done with their simulations already? Hopefully so. He needed someone who could remove the tiny pieces of glass from Wren's suit if they remained past the opening to the simulation. Stark went for realism in all his tests, and only the mentors knew how real he made them.

The elevator stopped, and the door opened to the same hallway Jack had fought through mere minutes ago. The soldiers on the floor were all unconscious or barely awake, save for one. "Sie verrotten Kinder! Du wirst für dieses Chaos bezahlen!" shouted a broken-legged guard, trying to crawl forward. "'Scuse us, jackass." Jack replied, propelling the heel of his boot into the man's forehead. He finally slept with the rest of his friends. The two students exited into the frosty air, heading in the direction of the forest. No need to head through the front door, what with all the triplines and heavy artillery and other shit Stark had placed there.

The artificial sun began to rise as they slogged through the snow. Birds were chirping, the wind was softly humming - everything was right in the world. Jack kept checking Wren every so often, making sure she had enough strength to move forward. He had carried her into this simulation, and now, in a sense, he was carrying her out. "Hey," he muttered. The usual snarky undertones of his voice had dropped. "I know I make it clear that you get on my nerves sometimes and I'm not particularly sweet as pie in your presence, but...thank you. For what you did back there. Not only do I appreciate it, but that was...amazing. Seriously. Like, Mycroft even suggested not blowing up the facility in any way and you used a grenade, and the envelope's still fine! It was just...."

He chuckled, but then stopped, clearing his throat instead. Too much...

"I'm sorry. I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. I'm just...blabbering like an idiot..."

Jack didn't even pay attention to Mycroft's announcement as he passed through the doorframe out of the simulation. His only concern was to make sure Wren was okay. "BEEP BEEEEEP, OUT OF THE WAY, EARLY BIRDS!" he yelled to Caitria, Petra, Ross, and Ja'zmyn, who were all resting at the end of the hallway in the lounge area. "Injured trooper girl coming through..."

He rushed Wren to one of the available chairs, crouching down beside her once she popped a squat. Jack removed his horned helmet, as well as the envelope from inside his zipped suit. "You okay?" he asked his partner, turning to his buddy Ross once she made her status known. "Yo, Mirror Master! Come over here!" he motioned him. "You know glass better than anyone...you see any pieces stuck inside Wrenpool, here?" It was then he remembered cold-as-ice Petra Maximoff had the power of telekinesis. If tiny shards were still stuck in Wren, perhaps she would be willing to remove them...

P H O E B Ex P R I N C E

Eventually, T'Chioke made it to the watchtower. His absence had given her enough time to pry open all the secrets hidden inside the Hydra base. Thanks to the maps, diagrams, and lists hidden inside the manila envelope, she now had an extensive knowledge of everything they faced. She flashed her partner a gentle smile, snorting as he nodded his head in approval towards the unconscious soldier. "He should be out for a while," she assured the prince. "He told me the mainframe in the basement is kept behind a thick, as well as bulletproof, glass door. There's also a retinal scanner. This little thing right here..." She retrieved a blue diagram of the door from her manila folder, circling her finger around a microscopic system inside the glass. "I know the claws in your suit are crafted from vibranium. They should be able to tear through the glass, but if not, we'd need to knock out a guard and use their eye to disable the lock. Actually, it might be a cleaner, less noisy method. Up to you what you'd want to do."

Nearing the table, T'Chioke told Phoebe about the elevator system and how they could either ride the elevator, disabling the camera inside, or travel down its shaft. Both options came with pros and cons. She nodded, creasing her lips into a straight line. Then the daughter of Wonder Woman grabbed a map of the ground floor and slid it to the tabletop's center.

"Climbing down the shaft would be a good idea. However, if the elevator moves up below us, we'll be forced off track. If it moves down above us, we'll be crushed. Believe it or not, there is an easier way. Ah good, you've got two." She pointed to the key cards T'Chioke still had in his possession. "Those key cards do a lot more than just work the elevators. They can actually turn off alarms and camera systems in one of these control rooms..." She pointed to a small space across from the ground floor elevator. "We know the base has fourty floors: twenty above, including the ground floor, and twenty below. There are four control rooms in the Hydra base, one for every ten floors. One guard works in each control room, and they monitor their own ten floors. We don't have to worry about the control rooms on the rooftop or the eleventh floor, since we aren't traveling that high. We just need to hijack the control rooms on the ground floor, as well as the control room on sub-level eleven."

She shifted through her folder again, pulling out another blue diagram. It was a map of each floor's maze-like ventilation system. "Here's what we're going to do. We'll approach the entrance you found, then I'll climb through the vent until I'm above the ground floor control room. I'll get the drop on the guard in the room and turn off the camera systems and alarms using the key card. In the meantime, you secure the control room from the outside. That way, no soldiers go in or out. Use your invisibility so no one sees you." She started shoving each map and list back into the folder, save for the diagram of the ventilation system. "Then we'll ride the elevator to sub-level ten, take the stairs down one flight to sub-level eleven, and do the same thing over again. We'll go to the basement, get the envelope by whatever means possible, and then ride all the way up to the ground floor. We leave the base, walk through the forest, and voila: simulation complete." She closed the folder with a hard thud, looking at him with a know-it-all grin. "The only problem we may face are guards stopping the elevator to get to other floors, but we'll deal with that when or if it even happens. We'll probably have to knock them unconscious and hide their limp bodies somewhere so we don't raise suspicion. Other than that little hitch, we should be fine."

She cracked her knuckles while gazing down at the ventilation system diagram, trying to cram its shape inside her memory so she wouldn't drop into an incorrect room. "Ready when you are. Although I really hope I don't forget this-"

Then she remembered.

"Oh my god, I almost forgot!" she sputtered while retrieving Jack's cellphone from her pocket. Fortunately, she knew his four-digit password and took a picture of the map using the phone's camera. Then she turned the screen towards her face and motioned for T'Chioke to come closer. She gave a goofy, unamused expression and tapped the screen with her thumb. Then Phoebe put the phone down on the table, looking at the facetious selfie with glee. In an instant, it became Jack's new background.

"Sorry, it's, uh...it's an inside joke," she explained to T'Chioke, who was probably very confused. "Nasty habit of Jack Murdock: he takes embarrassing photos of people when they're not looking. Keep an eye out for him. He's worse than the paparazzi. Something you're familiar with, I'm sure?" Phoebe chuckled, placing the phone back in her pocket and getting her shield, sword, and lasso ready. "Okay. Lead the way, Prince of Wakanda."

She let him guide her across the base, and thanks to his efforts near the pillar, they didn't encounter any conscious guards. Her finger pointed up once they reached the first vent. "There it is. Hand me one of the key cards, then boost me up." Once he did as she instructed, Phoebe quickly crawled through the vent, pulling out Jack's phone and using her photo as a guide so as to not lose the way. Finally, she reached the control room, removed the metal sheet over the vent's opening (super strength came in handy during tight moments like this), then pounced on the single guard in a silent takedown. If everything was going according to plan, T'Chioke was outside, watching the door. She swiped the keycard through two slots, shutting down the camera and alarm systems from floors one through sub-level ten. If intruders spotted them, they wouldn't be able to alert the rest of Super-Scary-Simulated-Hydra-Base of the partners' presence.

Then, looking at the unconscious man on the ground, Phoebe concocted a glorious idea. She locked the door from the inside. "One minute. Just give me a sec." she lowly called to T'Chioke, crossing over to the grounded man. Her hands quickly unbuttoned his shirt and pants. She took the articles of clothing and draped them over her own body, tucking her dark hair into the soldier's cap. Now, her and T'Chioke both had invisibility: he had his suit, and she was disguised as a Hydra soldier.

Phoebe stepped out of the control room, modeling her new uniform for T'Chioke. "It's uncomfortable as hell, but it'll make life easier. I won't have to crawl through anymore vents while disguised like this. Just keep watch while I walk through the front door of the next control room." She called the elevator and stepped through once it opened, punching the button for sub-level eleven. "I know we said sub-level ten before, but since I'm dressed like this, just turn invisible once we reach the floor. That way the cameras won't see you."

Taking out the next control room was just as easy. Again, Phoebe shut off the alarms, cameras, and even found a slot to disarm the sirens inside the mainframe. Then she sauntered back to the elevator, punching the basement's button. As she waited next to T'Chioke, she pressed her new shirt to her nostrils, grimacing from the horrid smell.

"Blech. That guy really needs to learn how to do his laundry..."

Then the elevator began to slow near sub-level fifteen. Phoebe gasped, hiding her sword and lasso behind her back. "Okay, T'Chioke," she rushed, "Just turn invisible and stay silent. Don't do anything unless they grow hostile. I've got this." Finally, the elevator stopped, and two laughing Hydra guards stepped on. They pressed the button for sub-level eighteen. There was nothing Phoebe despised more than lazy people who couldn't walk down three flights of stairs.

One guard eyed her up and down, paying close attention to the shield she tried to conceal. She knew Themysciran, Ancient and Modern Greek, Spanish and French, but Phoebe couldn't speak a lick of German. The man nodded. "Hallo, err...Wilhelm."

Wilhelm? Oh right. Wilhelm Wicki: the name embroidered onto the front pocket of her shirt.

She nodded in recognition of his presence. There was a wave of embarrassing silence until the soldier asked, "Ist das ein alter griechischer Schild, den du dort hast?"

His eyes trained to her shield. Racking her brain for what to do next, she blurted out the first German word she knew.

"JA."

He nodded. Kind of awkwardly, but not in a way that rose suspicion. He waved her goodbye once him and his partner reached sub -level eighteen. The elevator continued to lower once they left. God, that was close.

Finally, Phoebe and T'Chioke made it to the basement and entered the room where the monolithic mainframe stood. "Alright. See if you can pierce through the glass with your claws. If not, we can go find a soldier to knock out or something. Or we can skip the claws and go straight to the soldier. Up to you." Phoebe idly leaned against the door into the small space, crossing her arms and taking a deep breath. She didn't realize how tired she was. Maybe it was just from the jump of adrenaline that now returned to a normal pace. The stealth route, although safer, took a mental toll.

"Hey, this may be overstepping the boundaries of our acquaintanceship," she murmured, filling the silence, "but I've always been curious...what's it like to rule a nation?"

As soon as Caitria stepped out of the simulation, the Hydra base, landscape, everything, transformed into a fifty foot by fifty foot room. The simulation door closed as Caitria continued forward.

Caitria noticed Mycroft and Phil seated before dozens of moniters. The former leaned in his seat as he checked something off the list in front of him. Mycroft pressed the intercom button as Caitria picked up his voice.

"Congratulations Ms. Allen," he said in a professional tone. "You are the first to finish your simulation." Caitria refrained from grinning. She knew that she was probably going to be the first to finish, but that didn't make her any less proud. "We ask that you take a seat in the lobby at the far end of the hall as we wait for your other classmates finish."

Before Caitria could speed on over to the lobby, Phil leaned forward, commenting, "although you passed the simulation Ms. Allen, we ask that next time you are posed with a circumstance like this that you consider team work." Caitria furrowed a brow at that, pausing to listen to the rest of what Phil was going to tell her. "Those that fight alone die alone...everyone needs alliances because you won't always be faced with a situation where your particular skill set is the best option. Everyone at this academy has a specific set of skills that are different anyone else. You shouldn't be so quick to discredit that."

"I'm aware," Caitria said lightly, trying not to sound rude or standoffish. "When it's needed, I always consider teamwork, since unfortunately, superhuman speed can't always be the answer." Caitria shrugged. "But it just so happened that this simulation, considering my particular skill set, wouldn't require teamwork. Therefore, I chose to go solo. Besides, it isn't like anybody asked me to partner up with them."

Mycroft cleared his throat as Caitria finished speaking. "Do not open that envelope," he warned. "We'll still fail you if you open it, or if you leave before everyone has rejoined us."

Caitria couldn't help but think that it was possible for her to sneak away without anybody noticing, but Mycroft was probably reading her thoughts at that very moment. Caitria saluted, before speeding over to the lobby, making sure to take the best seat.

A couple minutes after Caitria sat down, she noticed Petra, Ross, and a bit later, Ja’zmyn pop out of their simulations and enter the lobby. The brunette nodded to her, sitting down on one of the seats. Caitria gave her a friendly smile in return.

Caitria raised an eyebrow in surprise as Jack Murdock ran out of his simulation while carrying Wren Wilson. "BEEP BEEEEEP, OUT OF THE WAY, EARLY BIRDS!" he shouted to Caitria and everybody else who had already finished the simulation. "Injured trooper girl coming through..."

Jack set Wren down in the chair next to Caitria, who scanned the redhead, half of her concern not evident on her face. "You okay?" he asked Wren, before turning to Ross. "Yo, Mirror Master! Come over here! You know glass better than anyone...you see any pieces stuck inside Wrenpool, here?"

Caitria decided to give the poor guy some advice. "Petra's telekinetic," she mentioned, motioning towards the other redhead in the room. She turned to Petra before speaking. "You could remove any glass shards in her body, if you don't have a problem with that."

Lilith nodded in response to Andrew's ramble. “Sounds fine, as long as you got my back?” Of course, the question was obviously rhetorical, since both of them knew that Andrew always had any ally's back, but Andrew grinned and responded anyway.

"That's a given," he commented reassuringly.

Lilith used a vine to shoot up to the second floor. She shattered a window in the process. Oh well, Andrew thought. There goes the stealth plan. He camouflaged, plastering himself to the side of the building as he trailed after her.

As Andrew hopped into the building through the shattered window, Lilith released a fume of toxins as she bombed the entire floor. “You're on envelope duty!” Lilith singed to her partner, before adding in a more serious tone, “try to hurry.”

Andrew nodded brusquely. He ran to the nearest elevator he could see, still in camouflage mode, shooting any enemy in sight as he turned his right arm into a machine gun. Snatching a guard's key card - in case the elevator required some kind of scan, Hydra wasn't stupid - he scanned the key card in front of the elevator. Fortunately, it was close to Andrew's current floor. The brown-eyed man caught a glimpse of the Hydra guards and soldiers figuring out how to deal with Lilith as he entered the elevator. Truth be told, he was a little worried.

Andrew scanned the map in the elevator quickly - he pressed the sublevel twenty button as fast as he could. Luckily, the simulation had really fast elevators - Hydra probably updated them in real life, concerned about their efficiency.

As soon as the elevator door opened, Andrew shot anybody he could see, using his special mini-bomb bullets (he had absolutely no idea what they were called) that could take out a few guards at a time. After he used a generous amount of those, he switched to regular bullets, approaching the thick glass door as the Hydra guards died around him.

Andrew scanned the key card, hoping that it would work - he didn't have time to see if he could smash the door down with his super strength (it probably wouldn't work anyway, considering that this was Hydra headquarters). Luckily, the guard who previously owned the key card that was currently in Andrew's possession had high enough access, and the door opened. Andrew dashed in, grabbing the envelope, and head back the way he came.

I'm going to run out of bullets if I keep this up, he thought. Andrew wasn't exactly an epic killing machine in his normal form - he preferred to stay in that one, thank you very much.

Andrew gasped, out of breath as he entered the second floor once again, narrowing avoiding a guard who happened to be charging at him. "Oh shit," he muttered, fumbling to stab the guy in the gut. He really needed better stamina. And he had to start remembering how important his camouflage was.

His eyes widened as a red dot aligned with Lilith's chest, the blonde raising her hands in surrender. Andrew, as quietly as he could (which wasn't that quiet), ran over to Lilith, shoving her out of the way as he shot a Hydra soldier in the chest. The red dot disappeared as a man collapsed on the ground. Andrew turned to Lilith.

"I have the envelope," he said, still slightly out of breath, "but since we sounded the alarm, we have to kill everybody in this building before we leave."

Thaleia noticed Tobias clench his jaw at the nickname and felt slightly guilty. She refrained from slapping herself in the face at that thought. Sure, she wasn't going to lie - she could be a bitch sometimes. Her cold demeanor and blunt nature was not taken well by anybody. But contrary to popular belief, while Thaleia thought of herself as heartless in a sense, she didn't actually try to bully anyone, especially when it came to family.

Thaleia sighed before grasping Tobias' shoulder. "Sorry," she grit out. It's been a long time since she said those words with even the slightest hint of sincerity. "You may think otherwise, but that wasn't an insult at all." Technically, that was true. Thaleia and her passed father, compared to everybody else, had fucked up morals. When Thaleia called Tobias "Maggy Jr.", she wasn't talking about his allegiance. She was talking about his skill set and power.

That was all.

Tobias moved past her, saying nothing, as he hurried down the stairs. Thaleia followed suit. Two guards stood at the end of the hall, their backs towards the two descendants. Tobias lifted his right hand towards the two guards. Nothing happened, until the two men suddenly started struggling and collapsed to the ground. Tobias glanced back at Thaleia. "They work," he said, referring to his powers.

After that, the two just killed everyone, with Tobias in the lead. Hey, laugh at Thaleia all you want, but at the end of the day, she was merely human. Not a metahuman like Caitria Allen was, but just simple, unaltered human. Of course, Tobias had to refrain from killing everybody on the spot and let Thaleia murder a few guards too.

Tobias probably wasn't happy with her slowing him down, but technically, he did accept her offer to be partners. If he wanted, he could've rejected Thaleia for all she cared.

(But no, he was probably just too nice.)

The two reached a desk that sat across from the elevators as Tobias held his left hand out towards the lift, bringing it up to their current level. The pair started sifting through the paperwork on the desk, attempting to find the location of the mainframe. Thaleia scowled slightly. Nothing. "Guess we'll have to go one floor at a time," Tobias commented bitterly, clearly annoyed as he and Thaleia entered the elevator. Thaleia opened her mouth to comment on the floor plan on the wall, but Tobias beat her to it. "Or...sublevel twenty." Thaleia pressed the respective button as Tobias spoke.

Tobias did his thing as the elevator door opened. He slid his metal spheres into his pocket as the guards dropped to the ground, dead. The two approached the glass door. Tobias knocked on the bulletproof glass a couple times as his eyes shifted over to the manila envelope. Thaleia couldn't help but feel a little bit smug when Tobias was unable to manipulate it due to the lack of metal. He turned to her. "You're up again," he said, gesturing to her guns, "but those won't work."

Thaleia hefted her guns into the straps on her back. "No need to worry," she told Tobias as she approached a guard's body. "I'm actually not stupid." She grabbed the guard roughly, snatching his key card in the process. Thaleia dropped his body back to the ground, heading towards the door. The key card worked and the glass door opened.

Thaleia entered the room, grabbing the manila envelope before turning around and heading back towards Tobias. She waved the envelope in the air. "Bingo," she said. "Now let's get out of here before we end up finishing last."

When Jaxon said that the situation was not looking too well for him above, Xavier acknowledged and was about to teleport straight to where his companion is and bring both of them out of the simulation room unscathed as soon as possible, since morning is approaching quite fast and he would rather not missing his precious breakfast and morning news, especially since he had just been to an event last night. It may sound a bit pompous but Xavier still takes career as an actor seriously, and who wouldn't be delighted when they are praised for something they did well? But for short, just like any of his fellow descendants, he too wanted to get out of this as soon as possible.

However, merely moments later, Jaxon suddenly come up with a plan to obliterate everything around him with his nova blast. Wait, Jaxon, we just need to get out of here so there's no need to waste your energy. Xavier reaffirmed, but apparently the younger descendant didn't hear it. He sighed. His partner has been helpful up til now, but the boy needs to pay attention to what others said, otherwise he'll end up doing unnecessary things. Asides from that, they have been working well enough so Xavier is hoping that the mentors will overlook the minor flaws.

Transporting himself to the entrance of the facility, Xavier had just made it right just before the energy within the field is concentrated all in one position. Knowing all too well what is about to happen, he erected a barrier surrounding himself. Jaxon contacted him one last time to warn him to prepare for the outburst. Way ahead of you, my friend. He replied, and a second later, the fiery figure standing not too far away from him literally explode. Everything flashed up violently and Xavier had to cover his eyes as not to blind himself. But the explosion took less than a minute, and when it cleared up, all simulated guards, the Hydra base and the surrounding forest were vaporized. "Quite impressive." Xavier remarked. Jaxon must have used up quite a bit of his energy already, yet the overall damage that the explosion had just caused can match up to that of a nuclear bomb.

When the smoke cleared up for a bit, Xavier casually walked up to Jaxon, who is now lying flatly on the ground, completely drained of all ounces of energy. "I must say, it was quite a bespectacled scene to behold." He said with his usual calm smile, while lowering himself and hovered his hand over Jaxon's chest, transferring a good amount of his own vitality to the younger hero, "But next time, do think more than just one time before you exact something." Xavier straightened himself up and extended his arm, helping Jaxon to stand up.

"Let's go back. I have a feeling we didn't manage to be the first birds, but I think our performance is good enough." He moved his hand in a circular motion as a portal open, revealing the sub-level 23 of the Academy on the other side, just besides where the mentors are standing. Xavier took out the envelope from within his coat and showed them that their mission is accomplished, but apparently they are not ranked and allowed to get back to their chambers until the rest of the descendants return. But it wouldn't hurt waiting a bit more for everyone, so Xavier just made his way to the lounge.

As expected, quite a few others have made it back before them, which includes Caitria, Petra, Ross, Ja’zmyn, Jack and Wren in a little bit of a bad shape. With her speed, there's no doubt that Caitria would be the first to finish. But Wren being injured? That's certainly a sight you don't get to see everyday.

Xavier was about to offer to take care of Wren's wounds, but Caitria just suggested that Petra should do it since she was also a telekinetic user, so he decided to just let the younger descendant to do her job. Instead, he walked to the coffee machine and poured two coffee cups, for himself and for Jaxon. After all, they do need a bit of a refreshment after the exercise earlier. "Here." Xavier offered a cup for the flame boy and took the seat next to him, "We need quite a good job, aren't we? Next time we team up though I could use a bit more of your patience." He commented as he took a sip from his coffee.

ImageThe trip back through the mirror realm was quick, Petra almost floating along in the wake of their easy success. Ross's compliment stayed with her, lending her expression a little more smile than she'd normally have - I like da way yer nose scrunches up when yer frustrated. She didn't know anyone noticed things like that about her, the small quirks and gestures that made her Petra, instead of the icy Scarlet Witch she put forward.

Caitria was already waiting, back in the academy, when they stepped out of the simulation. Petra released her grip on Ross's hand, sliding her fingers delicately out of his grip.

"Congratulations Mr. McCulloch & Ms. Maximoff. If you could please go to the lounge at the end of the hall with your envelope. You will wait there until the remainder of your classmates finish the simulation."

Ross's reaction said it all. Not that she'd express it in so many words, but they were promised they'd be allowed back to bed if they completed the simulation. No protest passed her lips, but her spine was a little stiffer and her steps more pronounced as she headed towards the lounge area. "Hello," she greeted Caitria as she passed, her voice low. It was a little hard not to let her annoyance show, especially since Caitria didn't deserve to be on the receiving end, but the irritation needed to go somewhere.

A few minutes more, and Ja'zmyn came through her door. Now there were four students back - four out of the original twenty-two. They might have to wait a little loner.

At this thought, Wren and Jack burst back into the room. A little entertainment might be nice, Petra mused, as Jack screamed at them to get out of the way - a little redundant, since there was no one in his way. Taking in both of the students clad in red, Petra noted that they seemed to be a little worse for wear; of course they'd met expectations and gone in with guns blazing, no doubt.

"Petra's telekinetic - you could remove any glass shards in her body, if you don't have a problem with that." The redhead's attention snapped to Caitria, taking in her beckoning hand and Jack bent over Wren's wounds, fussing. Oh.

"I have no issue, if Wren doesn't." She might not like the other girl, but Petra wouldn't refuse her help. At least, since Wren hadn't quite given her reason to yet. Rising in one fluid motion, Petra approached Wren, kneeling so she was level with Wren's wounds. "This will sting," she warned. Disallowing Xavier's sudden appearance from making her concentration waver, she focused on the flesh wounds, telepathically pulling the glass shards out of Wren quickly and cleanly. The bits that were further in her flesh proved to be a little more difficult, but Petra made sure they slid back out the way they came as quickly as possible, without causing any further tearing.

"I'd say take the time to catch your breath and regenerate, but you'll be up on your feet in no time," she commented, pushing herself to her feet and looking down at Wren. She smiled perfunctorily at the patient, with no sign of mockery - or much friendliness, for that matter - and took a step back, her job done.

ImageOne moment, Riley was standing ankle-deep in snow, the next, he was in a hallway stretching away to his right, dry and (if he was right) heated. He shook himself, trying to reorient himself - he was never ever going to get used to Conrad's zapping around. Perks of being a perfectly ordinary human.

"I'll take the first door and you get the second?"

"Yeah, sure," Riley agreed. He leaned against the door and tried the knob - locked, but there didn't appear to be anyone inside. Casting a quick glance around for security cameras and finding none, Riley backed up as far as the hallway would allow him, and placed a well-aimed kick at the door. It swung inwards, and he leaped forward, grabbing the edge of the door to prevent it from smacking against the wall on the inside and creating unnecessary noise. As it was, busting the door down was probably already enough to warrant a little unwanted attention.

"Jackpot." The room appeared to be a security office of some sort, with screens displaying feed from what was presumably cameras all over the facility. Scanning through the screens, Riley found one showing a glass enclosure - with an envelope inside.

"I haven't found anything. You?" Conrad's voice came from behind Riley, and the archer pointed, smiling.

"Right here, baby. Look - the envelope, this is the corridor outside the room, all we gotta do is take down like, three guards. Maybe more, but that's about as many as I can see from here. Could you get us there?" He wasn't exactly sure how far Conrad could teleport, especially with minimal knowledge about their destination, but he trusted in his friend's abilities. Either that, or they'd work their way down the floors and hope they didn't encounter too many enemies. With Conrad around, he could afford to be a little more optimistic.

Bow taut and at the ready, he smiled at Conrad. "Ready to go, partner?"

"Mr. Zod." The computer man must have said for the several hundredth time.
"What?" He asked staring at the ceiling under his blankets. Apparently this too was part of the human norm, being tucked in bed at 3. Now J.A.R.V.I.S was saying he should have been up and about, ready for battle.
"You are required to be at sub-level 23 within under a minute now. Lack of attendance will result in failure."
Although still somewhat confused, he picked up his feet and got dressed. What he did know was failure wasn't an option so attendance he shall be in. "I just don’t get it though. Aren’t most of us supposed to be asleep at this hour?"
"The purpose is to condition you for every hour Mr. Zod. Your adversaries do not wait for the time to be at convenience."
Ulrich gave a nod. "Understandable."
"You have few seconds remaining."
Ulrich hadn't realized the time he lost, so darted down with his super hearing active to avoid being in the dark of their task. "Sorry." He called, flashing by the mentors and just got through a steel door and entered the simulation in time. He huffed out and gave his white surroundings a brief analysis then dashed to the base.

Without hostages to consider, it'd be a field day. He burst through the top floor and worked down, clearing out floor by floor as the alarms wailed insignificantly as his opponent's cries of startle and pain were the real music. They were thrown into walls, suffered his weight and super strength being slammed into them, and even tossed out of the building. Right up to the point he reached the basement, broke the protective case around the envelope and retrieved the letter then darted back. Ulrich gave the envelope a last look over and it seemed in the good condition the mentors wished. Much unlike his clothes that had little bullet holes in them.

Ulrich drifted over the lounge when prompted. Apparently Caitra was faster because she was already there. And Petra, Ross, Xavier, Ja’zmyn ...Just about everybody. Was he the last!?
There was a fair amount of action outside of the simulation too. Mostly teamwork orientated he noted, whether that be feedback between Xavier and Jaxon or aiding Wren's injuries. While Kryptonians or Zod’s army anyway looked after each other they didn’t really ever have teamwork so that was always a work in progress area for Ulrich too. It was part of why he joined, and, of course, in hopes of converting him to his own man with underlying implication that the man had to be good.
For now Ulrich stood in the lounge in his own space and let his gaze fall back on the envelope he had retrieved.

"WOO! That was amazing. Blood-pumping. I haven't felt that level of anxiety since-" Jack's gaze fell to the glass in Wren... Well, everywhere. "Shit...Goddamit. Okay." He took a deep breath. Man was he overreacting just a smidge. "I'm really sorry if this hurts..."

"Well, it never feels good." Wren reached out her hand, grabbing Jack's shoulder. When he began pulling pieces from her back, calf and side, her grip tighten on his shoulder. "You know my body will just expel the bullets... eventually." Her gaze drifted over to him, taking in his frantic manner. Most people just figured she'd heal herself in enough time and never worried about it. Sure it hurt. It always hurt... Getting shot, still feels like getting shot. Same with being stabbed or whatever else. You never are numb to the pain, just sort of... used to it.

"Alright. Now it's my turn to help you."

"Really Jack... I'll be ok."

But did he listen? No. Jack took her arm and laid it across her shoulders. He helped lead her through the piles of dead bodies. Wren's gaze took in the body pieces thrown about and masses of corpses. "Maybe I should go to a villain school instead," she mused with a half hearted chuckle. Her father was never deemed the hero more of an antihero... using unorthodox methods and completely 100% ok with spilling blood. The kind of stuff that gives Captain America a heart attack. Some people saw him as a bad guy, so why not her too? Just embrace it. Join the dark side Luke.

Wren shook her head slightly coming back to the present as Jack found a key card to activate the elevator. She hated how her mind wondered when she was injured, even worse with a head injury. It was like being on drugs... Or at least how she imagined drugs would be like. They didn't really work on her. Jack punched the button in the elevator when it finally arrived. "Calm down sparky... You don't wanna break it," she teased him with a smile.

"Geez, I don't think I've had to complete a test this trippy since...well, since Xavier's."

Wren reached her hands up, yanking her mask off, taking whatever shards were in the back of her head with it. She winced slightly, followed by a slight sigh of relief. Her left arm raised to her mouth as she begin picking smaller pieces of glass from her with her teeth. "Fuck Tony Stark and his brain... Students won't learn if they aren't in actual danger." She scoffed.

When the elevator came to rest, Jack wasted no time moving back to her side. With the way he was acting, Wren was half surprised he just didn't carry her out of the simulation. Her brows raised when she saw one of the guards crawling towards them. "'Scuse us, jackass," Jack said before slamming his foot down into the man's face, knocking him unconscious with the others.

Wren raised her hand to block her eyes from the rising sun in the simulation room. "Hey," Jack said towards her getting her attention. She adjusted her arm that rested over his shoulders, looking towards him. It was just...." His voice trailed off before he chuckled. "I'm sorry. I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. I'm just...blabbering like an idiot..."

"You're not getting all sappy on me now are you Murdock?" Wren laughed half heartedly. "The world isn't finished with you yet horns." She flicked one of the horns on his helmet with her free hand. "Plus, I think there would be some seriously upset girls in the Academy if that handsome face was laid to rest."

Wren tried to make note of what Mycroft was saying while Jack rushed her through the corridor. "BEEP BEEEEEP, OUT OF THE WAY, EARLY BIRDS!" She tried to give an apologetic smile to those that were already waiting in the lounge area. "Injured trooper girl coming through..." He wasted no time ushering her into a chair, then squatting down on the ground before her.

"You know, you're kind of a drama queen," she teased as Jack removed his helmet and envelope from his suit. When Wren first gave him the envelope, she didn't really have a chance to pay much attention to anything other than the approaching guards. But at that moment she definitely saw a bit of chest, which did not disappoint.

"You okay?"

Wren gave Jack a thumbs up with a slight smile. Did she feel 100%? No. But she was healing, could walk and had all her limbs. That's a better day for the Wilsons. She had already began picking at the shards in her body, not really paying attention to her frantic partner that seemed persistent to get her help... Even though she was beginning to heal.

"Petra's telekinetic," Caitria mentioned from the sidelines.

"Guys," Wren sighed. "Seriously, I'm fine. Give it... Ya know 5 hours and I'll be good as new."

"I have no issue, if Wren doesn't." Petra stood up and made her way over towards her. She then knelt down to be at the right angle.

Wren was about to argue, but instead she sighed and leaned back in her seat. "If it'll make Jacky over here stop worrying, then go ahead."

"This will sting," Petra added.

"Usually does." Since Jack was the one who insisted on getting her help, she grabbed his hand to prepare for whatever pain the Maximoff girl could cause. Wren's hand tightened around Jack's as Petra made the small pieces of glass pull out. Why is it that everything seems to hurt on the way out and not in?

"I'd say take the time to catch your breath and regenerate, but you'll be up on your feet in no time," Petra concluded and stood up.

"Sure thing doc. Thanks." Wren smiled towards her slightly. When her gaze fell to her hand holding Jack's she quickly patted his hand then put her own in her lap. "All better now, worry wart."

***

Thaleia holstered her guns. "No need to worry," she said to Tobias as she approached a guard's corpse laying about. "I'm actually not stupid."

"Wait..." Tobias interjected, leaning back against the far wall, crossing his arms over his chest. "Are you saying I am stupid?" Tobias raised a brow towards her, nearly smirking. As much as he does smirk. He watched her pull a keycard from the guard. She then walked over to the thick glass door and slid the card, unlocking the vault like room.

Thaleia strolled into the room, and snatched up the envelope. She waved the manilla envelope as she approached Tobias as he waited. "Bingo. Now let's get out of here before we end up finishing last."

Tobias nodded his head towards her, pushing off the wall before heading out into the hall. He stepped precariously as he dodged the bodies laying about, making his way to the elevator. He stood there silently as the lift took them up to the ground level. He wondered what people would think when two of the most disliked students exit the simulation together. Seems fitting. They both could have done it easily on their own but, even being cold and distant, they still know how to work in teams better than others.

When they finally reached the entrance that lead back to the main hallway, Tobias held the door open for Thaleia and followed out after her. He couldn't help but scoff and roll his eyes as he heard Mycroft over the intercom, demanding that they all wait in the lounge. Typical. He didn't have to say anything to the Brit, just glare up at the camera to send the message that he wants his helmet back. Xavier Jr. doesn't like it when he can't keep close tabs on a villain's son.

His gaze drifted to the sight of half of the students fretting over Wren Wilson. Seriously? She has regenerative powers? But still they're all moving around like chickens with their heads cut off. Tobias pursed his lips slightly as he looked away from the spectacle. He remained at the far edge of the lounge, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. He wasn't in a rush to get to bed, he wasn't sleeping in the first place. But he wasn't going to go chatting up everyone. He knew they didn't want to talk to him.

***

Frankie quietly opened the door to the staircase. She quickly made her way down, occasionally knocking out any guards that stumbled their way into the narrow corridor. Every time she saw another security camera, she shot webs to cover the screen. Of course, the guards would pick up on it sooner or later, but it'd give them enough time to get in and out without being noticed.

Between her and Nathaniel taking out every other guard, they reached the bottom level in no time at all. Frankie headed down the hall first. Instead of heading straight through the door into the only room on the floor, she leaned against the wall adjacent to the door and knocked on it. When two guards came charging out, Frankie slammed into the first man and sent him back into the second. Before they knew what was happening, she had them both wrapped in webs and suspended from the ceiling. They fought against the bind, but nothing happened aside from their web cocoons rocking back and forth along with their feint groans.

She quickly ran over to Nathaniel and reached her hand into the pocket on his utility belt. Frankie smiled up at him as she took the key card. She then ran over to the door and unlocked it. Once it was open she snatched up the envelope. "Let's get out of here before more guards show up."

Frankie sprinted up the steps in the facility and into the woods. Once under the cover of trees, they only had to take out the occasional guard. It wasn't long before they reached the door and exited the simulation. The blonde sighed pushing back her hood and removing her mask as she walked down the hall to join everyone else in the lounge. "Who else is still inside?"

***

Ross slunk back into his seat in the lounge as he waited for other students to finish with their simulation. Why was he getting punished for being one of the first groups finished. Bed. That was promised... Yet still they sat here waiting on baldy and the two ancients. He contemplated failing... Just walking out and going straight to bed. But, he didn't want to do that to Petra. His gaze shifted over to her slowly. She deserved a passing grade, and looked as pissed as he felt. So, if he just bounced it would also make her fail too. So, against his better wishes, he waited.

He must have started to doze off in his seat, because he sat up with a start when he heard himself being called after. "Yo, Mirror Master! Come over here!" Ross groaned, pushing off his seat and trudged over to Jack and a worse for the wear Wren. "You know glass better than anyone...you see any pieces stuck inside Wrenpool, here?"

Ross rubbed his eyes with a yawn. Was he crashing already from that caffeine pill? Or just never really woke up? Doesn't matter. "Oy, ya prick. She's got healin' abilities. What er ya freakin' out fer?" He motioned his hand towards Wren who's face seemed to only reiterate what he said. "Hold up a minute... ya call her 'Wrenpool'?" Ross laughed weakly. He patted Jack on the back as he stepped back out of the way, making room for Petra's finger wiggles. "Ya need to work on yer nicknames... They suck."

As he stepped away, he couldn't help but watch as Petra did her magic work on Wren. Not like Deadpool Jr. needed it. She would have been healed up within the next couple of hours but Jack seemed to have his panties in a bunch about her well being. Ross made sure to make a mental note to ask Murdock later as to why he felt the need to get the mouth all patched up. Was it a crush? Was it because she like saved his life or something?... Definitely wasn't just a selfless move. He never knew Jack to be like that.

“Hey, mirror wizard.”

"It's master," Ross groaned as he pivoted on his heels towards the voice. "I do actually have a name ya know—" He stopped mid-complaint when he saw Astrid with a bullet in her shoulder.

“Any trusting reflections about so I can sort myself out?”

Ross walked up to her, looking over her shoulder. Unlike Wren, Astrid didn't heal in the blink of an eye. Plus there was infection and whatever else. He could tell by the look in her eyes that she intended on dealing with it herself. She wouldn't accept help, too stubborn. But that doesn't mean he wouldn't try anyways. "Yeh, just hold on."

He walked over to his bag that rested on the chair. Riffling through it, he found a mirror, of course. But then found something better, a strong magnet. Ross honestly couldn't remember why it was in his bag. Maybe a piece for a new mirror blaster he was working on. He was too tired to try and recall pointless memories at the moment. He walked back over to Astrid. "I got somethin' better," he said. Before she could argue or ask, Ross held up the magnet near the wound. The bullet removed itself with ease from her shoulder and snapped into place against the magnet.

"Sorry. But yeh would only do more damage doin' it yerself." He took the bullet and placed in it her palm. "I suggest getting that stitched up with some ointment... Er rub some dirt in it like you tough people do," he teased with a smile.

"Good," Jack said as he moved to his feet, tucking the envelope under his arm. "So next time, when you're slicing and dicing and unpinning grenades on an entire army of murderous Hydra bastards, don't do it alone. See ya around, crazy girl." He then winked at her before he went to walk away.

Wren quickly sat up, reaching her hand out to snatch the envelope from under his arm as he departed. "I don't trust steamy over there around our envelope." Her gaze drifts over to Jaxon, whom she raises a suggestive brow towards. Partially because he's attractive, but mostly because... Well, maybe to make Jack a teeny bit jealous. "His blood runs too hot."

She slunk back into her seat, holding the envelope to her chest. With a sigh, Wren gazed around at the other students. Most of whom were already congregating around their friends. Funny. She always knew she was off putting, and an acquired taste... But sometimes it surprised even her when, more often than not, she was left to her own devises. Whatever. It's not like she was there to make friends anyways.

Finally, her focus landed on Caitria who was over in her own world. Somehow easy to over look when she wasn't running about or whatever. Wren scooted closer to her slightly. "So... How long did it take you this time? 20... Maybe 30 seconds?" She smirked slightly, leaning back against the wall. "You're getting slowwww..." she teased with a slight sing in her voice.

***

Tobias tapped his fingers along his arms as they were crossed over his chest. His right hand raised to pinch the bridge of his nose, taking a deep breath. It seemed like everyone was there, so why were they standing around? For the first time... in awhile, he was actually tired. He probably could have even managed to doze off slightly where he stood, leaning back against the wall. But he heard someone approaching which caused him to open his eyes, finding Petra standing before him.

He gave a slight sideways smile towards her as she walked up to him. "Hello."

"Morning," he said, furrowing his brows. "Or... I don't know, whatever hour it is." He gave a weak grumble of a chuckled as he ran his hand back through his hair.

"How'd you find the simulation? They've got themselves in a bit of a tizzy there; very realistic simulation Mycroft's put up. Are they setting us up for something?"

Tobias slipped his hands into his pockets, shrugging his shoulders slightly. "Went without a hitch. Thaleia is a formidable partner. Wasn't really expecting anyone to ask to team up with me." His gaze fell to his feet slightly as he sighed, before commenting upon her second question. "Well... Besides the Brotherhood, Hydra is still a threat. They just want to end all of us 'supers'... Or enslave us. If I had to guess the next simulation would be similar but focused on the Brotherhood." He shrugged. "Suppose it's designed so we know our enemies."

***

Frankie stood towards the back end of the lounge. Her gaze drifted over to Nathaniel, who stood alone. But just as she was about to walk over towards him, Riley walked on over to her. She smiled happily, seeing that her best friend looked all in one piece. "Heya, Frankie. I'm not sure, I just got back myself. You and Nathaniel make it alright?"

Her hand waved towards Phoebe as she approached as well. "Hey!"

Frankie smiled towards Phoebe and then nodded her head to Riley, cupping her hands before her. "Oh, yeah." Her gaze drifted over to Nathaniel slightly. "Nathaniel is very skilled... We got through without killing any guards, or setting off the alarms." She brushed loose curls behind her ear. "How was working with Conrad and T'Chioke?"

Once Frankie asked, she pursed her lips slightly. Her left hand reached out to take Riley's upper arm. "Sorry about that... Not picking you. I wasn't thinking. I was distracted by attractive men." A smile tugged at the corner of her mouth as she playfully nudged. "Of course, you'd be the only man in my life if I was your type." She giggled. Of course, she wasn't going to say anything more than that. Riley's sexuality was not something for her to speak about openly. It wasn't her secret to share. But simply said, she isn't his type. As to the implications of that... It could simply be because she's blonde.

"Next time, promise." Frankie draped her arm across Riley's shoulders.

"Riley! Breakfast in the devil's kitchen after we get out of here!"

Frankie scoffed, rolling her eyes slightly. "Guess us women aren't invited. Typical." She pursed her lips, shaking her head towards Phoebe. "Whatever... Guys suck anyways," she said sarcastically. "Well... Not all of them." She bumped Riley with her hip, but her gaze drifted over to Nathaniel briefly, before quickly looking back towards her current company.

Of course, Astrid didn't seem like she appreciated Ross' intervention in taking out the bullet. No surprise there. He figured that would happen. But, in all honesty, if the stubborn brunette wanted to believe it or not, it's easier if someone else took care of it. So, Ross would deal with the evil sideways glances.

“Thank you for your wisdom, doctor. Now if anything happens to me you’ll be accountable. Not only for your advice but your involvement,” Astrid said with a warning undertone.

Ross rolled his eyes slightly. "Whatever yeh say, ma'am." He shook his head playfully, before leaving the 'intimidating' Rogers to herself. She'd be fine. He trudged his way over to an open seat next to Wren Wilson. He sighed, slinking down on the seat, resting his head back against the wall. He raised his hands to rub his face, the grogginess really starting to kick in. When he finally moved his hands from his face and opened his eyes, his gaze fixed on Petra... But only for a moment before a bald and annoying Mycroft stepped in the way to address everyone.

***

Alfred, Phil and Mycroft finally entered the lobby with clip boards in hand. Mycroft cleared his throat to get the attention of the students. But before he had a chance to speak up, Alfred stepped forward. "Well done everyone. Each one of you has completed the simulation by passing standards. It was nice to see some of you even take advantage of team work —"

"Yes, yes," Mycroft interrupted. "Passing standards hardly, but that is a technicality that I will let slip. You all are alive... And have your envelopes, so I won't knit pick."

By the look on Mycroft's face, he had half a mind to fail some of them but the nice thing about a group of mentors was sometimes his sunny disposition was out voted. And in this case, it looked like Phil and Alfred out voted his disagreements. Phil took a stepped forward, motioning his hand towards the students. "You all may now open your envelopes."

Wren ripped open the lip of the large envelope, and stuck her hand inside. She pulled out a piece of paper, it was thick, on a heavier stock. When she flipped it over, she shot up to her feet. "Are you fucking kidding me!? We went through all of that... For a fucking ball!?"

Alfred moved towards Wren with his hands held out in a slight attempt to calm her. "Please, Ms. Wilson. If you'd calm down, we will explain."

He then looked towards the rest of the students. "Tomorrow evening Bruce Wayne, Tony Stark and Descendant Academy are holding a gala. Many important people will be present to donate to our foundation, but more importantly... Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross will also be there. He among other members of the U.N. will be present. They are attempting to get our Academy shut down or put under military control to be used as a weapon for the U.N.. Similar to the same issues the Avengers encountered following the events of Sokovia."

Mycroft slipped his clipboard under his arm. "I argued against letting the lot of you even be inside the tower during the gala. After all, we need to impress these people. Prove that we do not need government control. But Mr. Wayne and Stark have different ideas."

Phil cupped his hands before him. "They believe that if our students are present and show how well mannered, well behaved and disciplined they are, that it will give us the footing we need to dispute their attempts at containing us."

"Which I know you all aren't. You all are as well behaved as circus clowns." Mycroft said, cold and emotionless. Per usual. "So, you all will go. And if you put a single toe out of order... Not only will you be removed from the gala, you will most likely be removed from the academy as well. Your actions tomorrow night will not only reflect upon yourselves and this academy, but upon your parents as well. If you cannot act like civilized adults, then the worlds defenders will become puppets on strings."

Alfred and Phil both shifted, apparent that they did not agree with Mycroft's brutal honesty or coldness. Alfred gives a halfhearted smile. "We all want you to enjoy yourselves. Socialize, meet some of our benefactors... Dance, take a date. Have fun, just be civilized. We think you all are wonderful and have great potential to do amazing things for the world. We just need to prove it to Secretary Ross and the U.N."

With nothing more to say, the mentors headed towards the elevators. "You're dismissed. We will resume training the morning after the Gala,"[/color] Phil added as the departed.

***

Wren stared down at the Gala invitation. She was furious. She knew it was a training exercise and that most likely whatever was in the envelope was a joke anyways. But this was lower than that. It was like throwing battery acid in a wound. She had half a mind to tear it up and leave it in shreds on the floor. Instead he shoved and beelined her way through her classmates to Jack. With probably more force than was necessary, she slammed the invitation against his chest. "Here. You can fucking have it... I can barely stomach looking at it."

She felt no need to stick around there anymore. Everyone was chatting and making plans for what to do after the simulation, and as far as Wren could tell, she wasn't invited. She walked down the hallway, practically clawing at her suit as she unzip the upper portion. She felt like she was suffocating and her temper didn't help. With a glance down she could see all the wounds in her abdomen more clearly as they healed. Even her sports bra was a lovely shade of blood from earlier.

Instead of having to get in the elevator with the mentors, Wren diverted right and threw open the door to the stair case. It was a long way up, but it wasn't like she got fatigued like everyone else. With a sigh, she dug her hand into her utility belt and pulled out her cellphone. She unwrapped the earbuds and stuck them in her ears, before blasting some music as she slowly trudged up the stairs.

***

Tobias sighed, rubbing his eyes. Although he wasn't prone to outbursts like Wren Wilson, he wasn't any less pissed about the situation. He looked over to Petra with an unamused expression. "How much do you want to bet that invitation... Excludes me." He rubbed the back of his head before pushing off the wall.

His gaze shifted to the departing mentors, and his helmet under Mycroft's arm. "Shit," he hissed under his breath. Tobias' gaze shifted to Petra for a moment, "Excuse me, sorry."

He jogged down the hallway towards the elevator. The doors were about to close when he extended his hand, stopping the metal doors and forcing them to open back up as he continued to approach them. "Xavier!" He stopped several feet from the elevators, his hand still held out to keep the elevator from moving.

Mycroft scowled slightly as he removed the Magneto helmet from under his arm, and held it out towards Tobias. "Next time, just tell me not to bring it," Tobias said as he held out his other hand, causing the helmet to fly out of Mycroft's hand and into his own.

Mycroft cupped his hands before him, with a snide smirk. "Oh, and Mr. Lehnsherr... That invitation excludes children of current terrorist factions."

Tobias remained unwavering at the comment, not giving Mycroft the satisfaction of pissing him off. "I know." He clenched his fist causing the elevator doors to snap shut. And just in case the mentors felt the need to step back out, he motioned his hand upward, sending the elevator into its ascension.

With his helmet in hand, Tobias sighed looking down at it. Not that he necessarily wanted to go to the gala, and the chances of him getting a date were less than likely... He hated the discrimination he felt due to his father. Numerous of the students here were Descendants of villains, but because his was still a major threat, he was treated like scum on the bottom of their shoes. Instead of dealing with the glances and stares if he turned back towards the crowd of classmates, he walked towards the staircase without a glance backwards.

***

Frankie sighed looking between Riley and Phoebe. "Huh..." She couldn't really manage to say anything else. She scratched the top of her head. "Well I couldn't sleep if I wanted to." Her gaze drifted over to Jack and Jaxon, then back to Phoebe. "I think I'm just going to go to my room. You can come if you want, if you're as wide awake as I am. Looks like Hell's kitchen over there has his own plans... Plus, we probably should figure out what we're going to wear," she teased with a slight giggle.

Sure, Frankie wasn't thrilled that the envelope only contained an invitation to the Gala. But she was glad that she could participate and try to help persuade the Secretary of State and U.N. that they are really doing good here. She's worked so hard to get into the academy and succeed. She'd hate to see them become controlled by the government, who doesn't always know what's best and when they should intervene. That would keep them from even helping on the streets. What they don't understand now is crime rates would just rise when they couldn't operate with their own judgement.

So, whatever part she could play in helping them remain they way they are, she would do it. Frankie looked back over towards Nathaniel, seeing him standing alone. "Guys, I'll be right back."

She walked over to Nathaniel, smiling softly. "Hey... Umm... I'm heading up to my room, Phoebe might be coming. I just thought I'd see if you wanted to come hang out with us. You don't have to, just thought I'd offer." Frankie lightly patted his upper arm with a smile. "And good job in their partner." She nodded her head towards him, before backing away and returning to Riley and Phoebe.

"Riley is going to have to let us know all the juicy details boys talk about when the girls are away," she teased, playfully nudging him with her elbow.

***

Great. Not only was Ross woken up during some serious REM cycle shit. All he got out of it was an invitation to some stupid gala where they have to impress assholes who want to control them. And people said the academy wouldn't be fun. At least now he could go to bed. Hell, he didn't even know if he'd go to the stupid dance thing or not anyways. He isn't known for always being on his best behavior.

With a groan, he pushed off he seat, standing up and stretching. Ross' attention was drawn towards Tobias and the mentors. Arseholes. him and Tobias weren't best friends or anything, but that was still shitty. He was half tempted to ask for the tattoo brute to be his date so that he could go... Just to ruffle Mycroft's feathers. In Ross' opinion, showing how Tobias wants to fight for the good guys, even with his father being who he is, would show those government fucks even more that what they are doing is good.

Ross rubbed his head as he walked over to Petra. "Aye, Red." He looked towards the hallway as Tobias disappeared up the staircase. "Ey think, maybe... If Tobias went to the gala, thing... It could really help." He slid his hands into his pockets. "Ya know. Show those government fucks dat even a son of a current threat wants to fight for the good guys."

He shrugged his shoulders. "Just thought ya might want ta mention that to 'em... If he went as someone's date, dat technically is a loop hole." Ross motioned his hand towards Petra. "You could always take 'em... Ya know... unless there was someone else ya wanted ta go with."

Caitria turned towards Wren, who had scooted over to the blonde's side. "So... How long did it take you this time?" the redhead drawled. "20... Maybe 30 seconds?" A playful smirk landed on Wren's lips. "You're getting slowwww..."

Caitria laughed at her friend's antics, shooting the redhead a sly look. Many in the academy found Wren Wilson annoying and difficult to befriend, but she and Caitria had hit it off before the blonde could grow impatient with the other woman. As it turns out, the two of them had a lot of similarities. Although Caitria wasn't as cocky, sarcastic, or talkative as Wren, both of them paid no heed to the status quo. Wren was actually a surprisingly decent friend.

"Sorry to burst your bubble," Caitria retorted good-naturedly, "I'm still keeping it to under 0.1 seconds." Caitria grinned. "I'll have to watch my back though. Can't have Ulrich catching up to me."

Caitria hated to sound like an arrogant snob, but she thought her position as fastest in the academy was pretty safe. Okay, so maybe she wasn't as fast as her dad yet, but she was getting there. Her top speed was 127,489 miles per second - not quite the speed of light yet, but that was already pushing her current limit. Most of the other speedsters at the academy could just exceed the sound barrier at most.

Before the two could talk any more than they already have, Mycroft stepped in, along with the other mentors. They explained the gala the academy would be holding extensively. Caitria frowned slightly. She wasn't the biggest fan of galas or balls, but she wasn't as averse to them as Wren or some of the others were.

After the mentors finished their speech, Caitria headed back up to her room. She didn't sleep as much as most of the other descendants, but she had been working on an important chemical solution in her lab when she was interrupted. The solution would eventually allow Caitria to create an updated Flash suit based off of previous designs by Francisco "Cisco" Ramon, one of Barry Allen's closest friends. Sure, her current Flash suit was nice, but there was always room for improvement.

Caitria dashed into her lab, checking on her solution, which was still in prime condition. "Good," she muttered to herself. "Everything has been going smoothly." Caitria placed the solution down before quickly scanning her notes.

The blonde speedster zipped to a corner of her lab, attempting to find one of her other solutions she had placed in a secure container. "Ah, here it is." Caitria turned around, content, before almost knocking over a few of her beakers. She gaped at her lab wall.

"What...the hell...is that?" Caitria stared incredulously at the Hydra symbol that had absolutely no place in her lab. "No one in the academy could've done that...I would've caught them infiltrating my lab." The blonde frowned, furrowing a brow at the emblem. It was merely a slip of paper with the Hydra symbol on it - nothing else. Of course, posting that on the wall of Caitria's (sacred) lab was offensive enough.

"Idiots," Caitria muttered, ripping the paper off and setting it in her paper bin. Caitria rarely ever threw anything away - she tried to make use of everything. Even a rubber band could become one of the most powerful electrokinetic weapons in the world.

Caitria knew she should've thought more of the symbol - after all, literally no one besides herself could even access her lab (save for maybe JARVIS and all those top dogs). However, her solution held higher priority - Caitria couldn't wait for it to settle down and lose her opportunity.

"Alright, let's get to work," Caitria slid on a pair of gloves and goggles, carefully lifting the beaker with her prepared solution over the beaker with the transparent purplish-gray mixture.

"Surely you're not this forgiving to everyone?" Lilith asked - even Andrew could easily pick up the hopeful tone in her voice.

"Not everyone," Andrew attempted to reassure the blonde. "I mean, someone would have to be the best of the best for me to forgive then after they seriously backstab me or something. I'll admit, I can get attached, but I uh, kinda take betrayal really seriously." Andrew beamed at Lilith. "If it's not intentional, then I probably won't hold a grudge."

Andrew nodded along with what Lilith was saying, relieved when she mentioned that he hadn't ruined any sort of plan she had in mind. The two exchanged parting smiles as Andrew headed over to the lobby while Lilith went to speak with Astrid.

Andrew's gaze roamed around the room - there were multiple clusters of people speaking to each other avidly, even though most would be asleep at the hour. Andrew, unlike some of his peers, actually slept like a normal human, despite not being a normal human himself. However, the simulation had fully awakened him - there would be no going back to bed at this rate.

Andrew made a decision, heading towards Ulrich Zod. To be honest, there were other people in the academy who were closer to Andrew than Ulrich was, but at the moment, Andrew didn't have any problem with the slightly older man. The two could be somewhat similar in certain areas of their personalities - Andrew could appreciate that.

"Hey Ulrich," Andrew approached the man amiably, who was off in his own world. "Let me guess, you went solo?" Andrew grinned in his usual easygoing demeanor. "What do you think's up with this envelope?"

Apparently, Andrew's question was about to be answered. Mycroft cleared his throat loudly, about to speak to the students before Alfred spoke instead, congratulating the descendants for all passing the simulation. And with that, Mycroft and the others explained the envelope and the upcoming events for the descendants.

"Are you fucking kidding me!?" Wren Wilson shouted indignantly as the group opened the manila envelopes. "We went through all of that...for a fucking ball!?" Although Andrew didn't have as much of a problem with a gala as Wren clearly did, he had to agree with the redhead's opinion on this one.

Eventually, after the mentors finished explaining the upcoming gala, Andrew turned to Ulrich. "Going through that entire simulation was a bit much just for a gala, don't you think?"

As always, Thaleia was near-invisible; no one approached her. In all honesty, the brunette was fine with that. She fiddled with her guns, frowning when she noticed a flaw on one of her bullets.

"Fucking unacceptable," Thaleia muttered to herself, peering at the bullet. She was examining the gun barrel when Mycroft made an annoying loud show of clearing his throat. Thaleia rolled her eyes at the action, but lifted her head to give her attention to the mentors nonetheless.

When the envelope turned out to just be for a fucking pathetic gala, Thaleia Castle narrowed her eyes and shamelessly admitted to herself that she and Wren Wilson were definitely on the same page on this one. A simulation? For a fucking ball? Thaleia absolutely despised social events; she wasn't the conventional definition of charming. Besides, the rather...amoral and anti-heroic methods she and her father used to achieve their goals weren't exactly popular.

When the mentors finally finished up their fucking speech, Thaleia spun around an headed directly to the elevator. She jammed her finger on the button to her floor, practically glaring at the inside of the elevator as the doors closed and the lift started moving.

Thaleia nearly flew out of the elevator, placing her gun back to where she had taken it. Even if she did go to the gala (did she even have a choice?), Thaleia would probably show up in her normal combat attire anyway.

Boom! Frankie's bathroom door came crashing down before her, causing her to scream as she jumped slightly. Then Nathaniel came crashing in behind it, stepping over the door. He made his way over to her, kneeling down on the ground.

"Are you okay, Francita?" He took her hands while looking over her like she might have been injured.

"Yeah... I..." Frankie's gaze fell down to their hands. Her cheeks flushing slightly. She couldn't believe she made a scene. Even though it was only in front of Nathaniel. "I just... saw a spider." Her brows furrowed as her gaze drifted off into the distance. Stupid. Spiderman Jr., scared of spiders!? She shook her head, laughing weakly.

"I'm going to get you a water."

"Oh... ok..." her voiced trailed after him when he walked away back into her penthouse. When he returned, he handed her a water bottle. Frankie opened it and took a drink as Nathaniel picked up her bathroom door and leaned it against the wall. She chuckled softly as he rubbed the back of his head and smiled towards her.

He then came back over to her, kneeling down in front of her. Frankie went a little cross eyed when Nathaniel put the back of his hand on her forehead, checking for a fever. "Do you want me to carry you to your bed?"

Frankie laughed softly, reaching her hand up to gently grab his hand and move it from her forehead. "I'm fine... I think my fatigue is just catching up with me." She smiled as convincing as she could manage.

After taking another drink from her water, she stood up. With Nathaniel's hand still in hers, she helped him to his feet. "Do you want something to eat? Or drink?... Maybe coffee?" Frankie gently released his hand before walking past him. She carefully moved around the propped up door. As she made her way to the kitchen, she muttered under her breath to herself, "Or perhaps something stronger..."

Frankie chugged the rest of the water as she snaked her way around the island in the middle of her kitchen. She touched her hand to the side of the coffee pot, feeling that it had gone cold. She poured out the old coffee and started a new brew. As it began to warm up, she rested her hands on the counter taking a deep breath. The Hydra symbol was burned in her mind as she stood there. With a sigh, she rubbed her eyes, then opened the cabinet over head. She tip toed, trying to reach the mugs on the top shelf. Frankie looked over her shoulder towards her quiet company. "Hey Nate, do you mind?" She pointed at the cups on the top shelf.

"Yo, Ross. Where the devil's the Devil, huh? Don't tell me you got kicked out."

Ross must have dozed off in the hall, because when Riley arrived he snorted loudly, lifting his head up from the wall. He wiped the drool stream from his chin, then rubbed his eyes as Riley sat down across from him. "I don' get kicked out of places... I am the party." He gave his best smirk although it was quickly erased by a yawn.

"Y'know the party's inside, guys," Jack said when he opened the door to his room.

"Correction," Ross held up his index finger, then yawned. "The party is where ever I am." He then slowly, very slowly, moved to his feet and stretched. He trudged his way into the penthouse behind Riley, cracking his neck as he moved.

"Next time just come in. I was showering so that's why I didn't hear y'all. I really don't care if you see me in a towel. Or butt-naked. Whatever. This academy is basically college part two..."

"My bad, horns... Eh was raised with manners."

"Make yourselves at home. Mi casa es su casa, amigos."

Riley made his way over to the couch, so Ross instead lagged behind Jack. He took a seat on one of the bar stools. He rested his elbow on the counter, chin in his palm. It seemed like his stomach just grew more angry as the smells grew throughout the penthouse. He fought hard, lifting his eyes in slow heavy blinks as he tried to keep from dozing off.

"I think I passed out for a few minutes." Ross' head nearly fell and hit the counter, waking up slightly at Riley's words. "Murdock. I might actually eat you and then fall asleep on your couch again if you don't feed me soon."

"Cheers to that," Ross said as he slammed his forehead down on his arm.

"So how about that wonderful surprise at the end of simulations? Mycroft really knows the right times to make announcements, doesn't he?"

Ross groaned, but Riley spoke up before he could complain. No one really wanted to hear that anyway. "That vulture could have given us a heads up, I don't have anyone to go with! Although I already have a suit, there's one department I'm not worried about." Ross ran a hand back through his hair, rustling it with a yawn smiling in response to Riley's grin. "How about you guys, do you have your shit ready?"

Ross turned slightly so that he was half facing Jack and the other half towards Riley. "Eh mate, I'm going stag." He looked down at his hand as he picked at his nails. It was his own dumb fault for suggesting she go with Tobias instead of just asking her like any other guy would do. As much as it was dumb, he didn't regret his decision to suggest it. He isn't that selfish. "You could go with meh? We'd be the sexiest couple there... I mean look at meh." He motioned to his face where he gave a tired attempt at a seductive grin.

His invitation wasn't by any means to try and put his secret out in the open. But they were friends and friends go together all the time. Unless he had ideas about someone to ask, and Ross was stuck completely solo. "Jack could round it up to 'n uneven three... 'da sexy amigos'." He scratched his scruffy jawline, giving Jack a sideways glance that was a bit suggestive. "But I think pretteh boy over here has someone else in mind."

After a moment, Ross realized he didn't actually answer Riley's question. "Oy... I do have a suit. I always come prepared for all sorts of occasions. You'd be surprised what is in meh closet."

Now, a little bit more away, Ross' gaze drifted around the penthouse realizing they were seriously under numbered. He reached in his pocket, pulling out his phone and sent a text to everyone that was at the simulation bullshit.

Wren pressed the button for the elevator nearly at the same time it slid open in front of her. She crossed her arms over her chest as she saw Alec before her, leaning in the entrance, blocking her way in. "Oh my, sugar. How is it you just keep looking sweeter and sweeter than cherry pie each time I come back?"

"So, that's why your eyes are brown... Because you're full of shit," Wren deadpanned with her arms crossed.

Alec extended his arms out towards her like he wanted a hug. "How has my favorite gunslinger been?"

Wren rolled her eyes, ducking under his arms, bumping him out of the way with her hip. She pressed the button for Jack's floor, but before the doors closed she saw Jensen walking towards them both.

"Hey, you guys. What'd I miss?"

"Fuck you both," Wren said, pointing at them accusingly as the doors closed and the elevator started to ascend. "Dickhead makes us do a fucking simulation at like... 3 a.m. A giant ass Hydra base. And because both of you dildos weren't there, I worked with the Catholic Saint." Not that she minded working with Jack or whatever else. Wren always had a flare for the dramatics where her friends were concerned... And in a nutshell, she was just pissed that she had to go through it and they didn't.

"So, of course... All these fucking sims were after us when we got to this damned envelope that 'couldn't be destroyed or read or breathed on funny,'" she made air quotes with her fingers. "Then there was a grenade and a fuck ton of glass... shit in me." Wren untied her cardigan showing her almost entirely healed torso where only feint slashes all over her pale skin could be seen where the glass once was. "Then horns has like a fucking panic attack thinking I'm dying... Which is just dumb..."

Now she was rambling. Angry rambling. Wren does that... A lot. Jensen and Alec, of course, were more than used to her mouth... And temper... And everything else. "All of that for a fucking invitation to a mother fucking gala! A gala, where we have to prove to the government assholes that we don't need a leash!"

The elevator came to a stop at Jack's floor. Wren walked out once the doors were open, honestly not sure if thing 1 and 2 were following... But she knew they would. "And you asshats!" She stopped midway down the hall, turning to face them. "You all get a pass because mommy and daddy needed help... Fucking bullshit." Now that all of that bull was off her chest, Wren felt better. "So, fuck you both," she said once again, pointing at them both.

With that, Wren turned towards Jack's door. She didn't even attempt to knock and instead just walked on in. Her brows furrowed only seeing Jack and his two half asleep friends. "I brought the parasites," Wren said, motioning her thumb over her shoulder towards Alec and Jensen. She then beelined for the kitchen, or more importantly, Jack.

"What's so important you couldn't just ask me over text?" Wren asked as she walked up behind Jack. She leaned over his shoulder, looking at the food he was cooking, taking in a deep breath. "What's that over there?" She pointed to Jack's right, distracting him as she stole a piece of bacon from the pan. She smirked towards him when he looked back at her.

Wren held the bacon between her teeth as she hopped up onto the counter beside the stove. She took a bite of the chewy meat, before looking back over at him. "I'm nearly healed, horns," she said as she opened her cardigan so he could see that all the glass wounds were practically gone. As for modesty... Well Wren had none. She had a sports bra on, it's not like she was waving the girls around. Who cares. "So, if that was your question... You can get your panties out of a bunch." She yanked off another bite. "I'm fine." Wren smirked, then held the piece of bacon out towards him, offering Jack a bite.

Caitria finally set her solution down, satisfied. She did all she could right now. Caitria would have to wait about two days before it was time to continued her project.

The blonde speedster peeled back her goggles, setting them down in their usual spot as she slipped out of her lab coat. She needed a break. It was early morning, and that meant either a light workout or a whole lot of breakfast. Caitria ate a lot - it wasn't evident in her slight and petite frame, but Caitria used her powers quite often and had metahuman metabolism. She had to consume much more than a normal human or else she would malfunction and her powers would fail her.

Caitria slipped on a decently casual outfit, heading out of her penthouse and impatiently waited for the lift. "Impatient" usually wasn't the first word people thought of when they thought of Caitria, but constantly moving at super speed made everything seem infuriatingly slow. Caitria wondered why she didn't choose to speed up to wherever she wanted to go, but the blonde had to start using her powers sparingly.

Caitria's phone buzzed with a notification as she waited for the lift. She pulled it out, absentmindedly skimming over the text Ross had sent the descendants. Bingo - now she knew where she was going to go. The blonde quickly typed a response as the lift came to her floor.

To: Mini Mirror Master
you'll see me there ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Caitria entered the elevator, pressing the button for Jack's floor. She and Ross weren't especially close, their parents being enemies and all, but neither judged each other on who their father was. The limited relationship they had was as unbiased as possible.

The lift stopped at Murdock's floor as Caitria zipped out and knocked Jack's door - 'cause she was polite and all. "I'm letting myself in," Caitria called, twisting the doorknob. "Hope you're all decent."

"I guess handing invitations in person or through mail is overrated," Ulrich replied. Andrew shrugged languidly.

"Yeah, I guess you're right," Andrew commented. "This place was always a bit...unconventional anyway. Besides, Mycroft never had the reputation of making life easy for us."

Just as Andrew said that, the mentors finished up their business with the students and headed their way like nothing happened. "I still don't get people," Ulrich's remark shook Andrew out of his thoughts. The man let out a sigh. "So how about you?" Ulrich changed the topic. "Did you go solo too and how do you feel about the gala?"

"Nah, I teamed up with Lilith," Andrew replied easily. "You know, daughter of Poison Ivy and all that jazz? She's actually pretty nice, as a person and as a partner. I'll admit, things didn't exactly go as planned in there, but it all worked out in the end.

"I won't lie, I'm not jumping for joy about this gala, but you could say that I don't have as big of a problem with it as Wren Wilson...or the majority of the descendants here. In all honesty, I don't think I'm the best person for all this diplomatic stuff, but you have to admit,"
Andrew dropped his voice to a whisper. "A lot of us don't fall into Mycroft's definition of 'civilized adults.'" The brunette laughed good-naturedly. "Then again, we're descendants. Superheroes, anti-heroes, villains, whatever - lot's of us don't fall into the picture-perfect mold of Captain American times a thousand or something. Even Astrid. Wren Wilson's the daughter of Deadpool and is almost exactly like him - you can imagine, that won't end well with anybody remotely diplomatic. I have a horrifying beast form that cannot be contained once released -" Andrew grinned, showing that he wasn't upset about it, "- and Thaleia Castle - the Punisher may be a hero of sorts, but anyone who isn't morally flexible won't like her methods. Basically, this gala won't be pretty."

Thaleia took a deep breath, calming down her storm of thoughts. God, this little academy was seriously getting on her nerves.

Thaleia raised her eyebrow ever so slightly when her phone dinged with a notification. No one ever contacted her - which was just lovely - so the brunette almost forgot what a text notification sounded like.

Speaking of no one ever contacting her - who in the Devil's name would text Thaleia Castle of all people? Thaleia didn't have that many good friends.

Thaleia stood up, opening the drawer (which was clearly not soundproof) she placed her phone in (it was a liability in combat). She turned it on hesitantly - it was still at 96% from over a week ago - checking the text she was sent. Ah. Ross sent a text to every descendant at that goddamned simulation. The situation made a lot more sense.

From: The Scottish Idiot With The Mirror Obsession
Ey fuckers... Murdock's makin' food and we're bitchin' about ole cue ball's gala bull shite.

Thaleia wasn't too happy about the gala, but she also didn't give a fuck about McCulloch's "bitchin' about ole cue ball's gala bull shite" business. Like she was going to a cute little breakfast at Murdock's.

Then again, Thaleia wasn't one to hole herself up in her penthouse with her guns...even though she was much better friends with them than she was with any of the descendants. Strangely, Thaleia was fond of heights. She hated to be reminded of it, but the Castle family was merely human. Thaleia had no supreme senses, no powers of any sort, no ability to fly. However, although she wasn't good at team tactics, Thaleia was a rather cunning combatant, and had certain survival habits ingrained in her. Getting a high vantage point - even if there was absolutely no reason to - was one of them. Sometimes, it made absolutely no sense, but Thaleia did certain things to relax her (at times, paranoid) mind.

Thaleia headed into the elevator, pressing the button that would bring her to the roof. When the lift dinged at its arrival, Thaleia sauntered out, greeted by the beginnings of a sunrise. Thaleia grabbed a couple beers from the fridge - she could hold her liquor - popping the cap off of one and taking a big gulp before she turned around to set herself down on the edge of the building.

Unfortunately, Thaleia's attempt at peace was disturbed by a presence she had been beside earlier that morning. "Oh," Thaleia said at Tobias, her tone blunt and not revealing any emotion. "It's you."

He continued his cooking, working the blender to fix up some good old-fashioned hollandaise sauce. In the meantime, Ross chattered away. "Eh mate, I'm going stag," he answered Riley, who had slid off the couch and was now spread across the hardwood floor like a rug.

"It's gonna snow pink. You're actually going stag, Ross?" Jack chortled, "I don't believe that for a second."

His friend turned to Riley. "You could go with meh? We'd be the sexiest couple there... I mean look at meh."

"Ew," Jack deadpanned after glancing over his shoulder into Ross's "seductive" face. The hollandaise sauce complete, it was time to poach the eggs. Swiftly, he cracked a few into a small bowl, then slipped them into the saucepan of boiling water. "Jack could round it up to 'n uneven three... 'da sexy amigos'," Ross scratched his scruff while the Devil of Hell's Kitchen began to toast the english muffins and taste the lemony hollandaise. It was creamy and rich - just right. With his enhanced taste, everything needed to be precise. Saying Jack was "picky" when it came to eating was an understatement. As a child, his taste buds were more sensitive than Gordon Ramsay's.

"But I think pretteh boy over here has someone else in mind." The Mirror Master shot him a sideways glance. Maybe inviting Ross to the penthouse was a bad idea...he was rowdier than a morning lark."Yeah. Your theoretical sister." No amount of friendly teasing would pry open details of his personal life. Even with good friends, he kept quiet about that stuff. Especially if it involved sappy romance.

Besides, it seemed unlikely Wren would make an appearance. Many minutes had passed and she had yet to answer his text. She was probably asleep in her bed, where any sane person would go after simulations. Then again, Wren never slept. Nor was she sane. Who knew what she was off doing at this hour. Probably watching more movies, eating more popcorn...

"I think I have a suit for tomorrow. I'll have to check my-"

All of a sudden, there was a knock at the door. Could it be...

"I'm letting myself in." Not the voice he'd been expecting. Caitria Allen twisted the doorknob and strutted into his penthouse, her platinum blonde hair glowing in the light. "Hope you're all decent." The round of silence that followed wasn't awkward, but it was certainly unprecedented. Unless she also had enhanced senses, there was no way Caitria could've known about the breakfast soirée happening on this floor. Unless...

"What did you do now, McCulloch?" Inside his wildly buzzing phone, Jack found the catalyst of Caitria's unexpected arrival...

New text message from : The Mirror Fuckin' Masterrrr
"Ey fuckers... Murdock's makin' food and we're bitchin' about ole cue ball's gala bull shite."

Well, now it would really be a party. "This isn't IHop, Ross! You can't just expect me to prepare breakfast for the whole academy! I have no qualms with more guests, but you should've asked before-"

"I brought the parasites." Caught off guard, he crashed into the refrigerator, a slough of magnets falling to the floor. So she had received his message after all. "Heyyyyy..." Slightly-nervous smile etched onto his lips, he scratched a hand across the back of his head. Wren had motioned to other friends she'd brought along, but they weren't visible from behind the doorframe. All he saw was her. Jack brushed the collection of NYC magnets under the fridge and tried to play it cool, returning to his culinary masterpiece.

"What's so important you couldn't just ask me over text?" She leaned over his shoulder, inhaling the many scents wafting from his countertop and stove. He was almost done assembling the eggs benedict...she'd arrived at a perfect time. "What's that over there?" He honestly thought Wren was pointing her finger at Phoebe's lonely shield and was just about to explain what had happened...when he turned back to find her chewing on a strip of bacon. How typical. "Hey, that doesn't come cheap, y'know. Save some for the rest of us, Wrenpool..."

"I'm nearly healed, horns," she said from atop his counter while opening her cardigan, flashing a sports bra to the penthouse's small audience. For modesty's sake, he kept his eyes low, focusing on the english muffins meant for Ross, Riley, and now Caitria. Not to say his whole attention was on the food..."So, if that was your question...You can get your panties out of a bunch. I'm fine." Wren smirked, then held the piece of bacon out towards him. He took a bite, his eyes on hers while he chewed, and smirked back.

"Damn, I'm a good cook...Anyways, yes. I know you're all right. You've made that apparent many times now..." He grabbed a few plates from inside his cabinet and began placing his finished creations on top of each white surface. They were warm, gooey, tender, and with the rich hollandaise sauce he poured on top of each muffin, glowing. Perhaps Riley would regain his strength after taking a bite. "...But that's not what I wanted to ask you. Mind if we talk in private? Far from this madding crowd..."

Before allowing the guests to help themselves to the breakfast, Jack carried a plate of eggs benedict over to the earthbound Riley. "Watch the door for me, okay?" he whispered to him, "and make sure Ross doesn't invite the Avengers next." He led Wren to the hallway inbetween his bedroom and bathroom. Shaded with grey shadows, it provided a fair amount of quietude and seclusion. He would've taken her to hallway outside the penthouse, but seeing as Ross sent a mass text to the whole damn school...well, he didn't want to embarrass Wren in front of any other teasing friends.

"So uh...I really enjoyed working with you. You saved my ass today and I'm grateful for that." He gazed over his shoulder to make sure no one was peeking around the corner. Might as well get right to the point..."I'd really like for us to hang out again and so I was wondering...do you want to go to the dance with me tomorrow?"

Three knocks on the door, and she was in. "Hello, Mycroft."

"Ms. Prince," he said without even raising his gaze to look her way. After a moment or two, Mycroft finally glanced up. "Well, come in and have a seat... Or, linger in the doorway if you prefer."

She took the empty chair in front of his desk. It was smaller than she expected, and quite plain. Not much more than the desk and a few chairs for company...If he ever had company. It made sense why he seemed so angry all the time; how could you be happy in a concrete box without windows? Where the windows should have been were several monitors that flicked through different surveillance footage of the academy. One showed the lobby of the building, another the training ground, multiple focused on the different students throughout the building and the last of the roof where Tobias sat and Thaelia just joined.

"Right, then," she started, straightening her posture. A stern expression, the one she typically donned in court, faded over her fine features. Athena, guide me looped through her subconscious like a turning record. Deep breath in, deep breath out. "Mr. Xavier, I have heard some distressing news from a close confidante of mine: you intend to restrict Tobias Lehnsherr from attending the gala tomorrow. Is that true?"

Mycroft put down what he was doing, now giving Phoebe his undivided attention. "I do not see how this concerns you, but yes... That is correct."

She crooked her head to the side. "May I ask why?"

He sighed, leaning back in his chair. "You know who Tobias' father is I take it?... A criminal. Magneto leads the strongest and most dangerous force in the world at this current moment. The Brotherhood is nothing to brush off or ignore. Humans, heroes and mutants alike have been trying to take him down for decades. But fighting one of the most powerful men alive is not easy." Mycroft cupped his hands together before him, pausing momentarily. "Tobias is just as strong, if not stronger. His allegiances, as of now, are unknown. It is not safe to have the son of a terrorist faction in the same room as U.N. officials. The Brotherhood wants the removal of humans to allow for their evolutionary superiors to take over. Having him around Thaddeus or any other important human is dangerous."

"Actually, I disagree, sir. I have only attended this academy for three weeks, but I know my peers. Tobias Lehnsherr and I may not be close," she stared down at her knees, her pale fingers wringing together, "but I can tell he's a man of good character. Not to cast judgements upon him, but he usually keeps to himself whenever in crowds. I don't see him recruiting mutants into the Brotherhood, unlike his father. I haven't heard anything suspicious about Tobias Lehnsherr. It's wrong to persecute a son for the sins of his father, wouldn't you agree?" Surely he had to. Considering the nasty rumors floating around about Charles Xavier - the fake deaths, sending a group of young mutants to their demise, putting the X-Men in unnecessary danger after feigning power loss - Mycroft had to relate.

"But you just admitted to not knowing him well," Mycroft replied. "Three weeks Ms. Prince, that's all you know. We have students who have been here from the beginning. Believe it or not, Wren Wilson's judgement would carry more weight than your own." His face seemed to harden a bit at the mention of fathers. At least something got to him. "And everyone is judged on the actions of their parents, if you believe anything else then you're lying to yourself."

She had to keep herself from snorting. If anyone were to judge Phoebe on the noble actions of her parent, they'd be sorely disappointed. She was far different and underwhelming compared to the fierce spirit that was her mother. "If you restrict Tobias Lehnsherr from the gala, it would only be fair to ban the descendants of other criminals as well. Bane, General Zod, Toxin, Poison Ivy...their children received acceptance letters. And despite their parents' records being far from squeaky-clean, they have permission to attend the gala tomorrow evening. Aren't those criminals also involved in shadowy organizations and activities, just like Magneto? It would appear there is a double standard, Mr. Xavier. And if you think Thaddeus Ross or any other U.N. officials won't notice it tomorrow, you are gravely mistaken."

She crossed her ankles, quickly taking a breath before Mycroft could take the next word. "The purpose of the gala is to convince the U.N. the academy does not need government control or surveillance and is a safe environment, correct?. Thaddeus Ross and his cohorts aren't blind. They're going to search for something out of line, and if they discover one student has been excluded from the illustrious event due to his father's ties to the Brotherhood of Mutants, that's going to seem very suspicious. How can you show Descendant Academy has nothing to hide when you're hiding something? It could be grounds to shut down the school."

She peered deep into his dark brown eyes, trying to discern the meaning behind his stoic glare. If only she could crack through Mycroft's bald head and analyze the turning cogs of his mind, perhaps she'd know how to win him over easier. "Then what would you suggest Ms. Prince? I could just remove them all from the gala, hell, the academy. Let the spawns of some of the most dangerous people walk about the streets. I'm sure that's safe. Or better yet, show off Lehnsherr like a show dog on a leash. He has no friends here, Ms. Prince. No one to vouch as a character witness, so I can't take that chance. Nathaniel Bane, Lilith Isley, Ross McCulloch, Ulrich Zod and the rest of them do. They've made friends, at least attempted to be part of what we're trying to make here. Tobias Lehnsherr sits in his penthouse not speaking to anyone aside from his niece between training sessions. I don't think that proves that he is anything other than a plant at this school."

But sometimes you don't get a choice in friendship, Phoebe wanted to say. She gazed over at the monitor behind him, watching Tobias and Thaleia on the roof. Well, he certainly wasn't alone now. She believed he was trying. He had to be. It was the students who were too afraid to become friends with him, not the other way around. "Let Tobias into the gala. Maybe don't put him on a leash, but show Thaddeus Ross you are grooming him, as well as the other descendants of criminals, for heroism. Show him they are setting better examples than their parents. As my good friend, Frankie Parker, would say, 'with great power comes great responsibility.' Show Ross and his associates the academy is instilling responsibility into each student as well as allowing them to reach their full potentials as gifted individuals, and I can guarantee you this place will be running without a hitch for many more years. And say the worst case scenario is true: that Tobias Lehnsherr is loyal to his father's infamous cause - it would still be unwise to exclude him from the gala. If he runs off and tells Magneto about the discrimination he faced at Descendant Academy, that only gives the Brotherhood grounds to attack the school, since we'd be proving their ideology. We wouldn't want to do that - it would lead to more trouble than it's worth."

While she waited for Mycroft's response, a response she knew would be tainted in opposition, two things twirled inside her mind. The first was a strong piece of advice a Harvard professor had given her and Jack many moons ago. When it comes to negotiation, anticipate your adversary's strongest counterpoint and prevent them from pounding it with a self-interesting deal. Mycroft was a stubborn man. If someone was untrustworthy to him, there was no use trying to convince him of that person's natural goodness. No way she could sway his opinions with a few pretty words: she needed to influence him with action as well. The second thing was a word of wisdom she had been given mere minutes ago: a nine-letter word called sacrifice, to be specific. If T'Chioke's mantra could allow him the successful management of a nation, it could allow her the managment of this tension-filled encounter. She knew what she needed to propose. Her heart didn't want to propose it, but her head knew it was necessary to prevent further conflict. With another deep breath and a final glance at Tobias's image on the monitor, she continued.

"I'll watch him for you," she said. "Tobias Lehnsherr. I'll watch him for you and if his actions prove untrustworthy, I'll report them. If the situation grows dire, I have this..." she pulled out the golden lasso of truth, which gave off heat and luster like molten lava, and wrapped it firmly around her wrist. "You have my word and confidence."

Mycroft pursed his lips, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his desk. "This burden will be your own. If Tobias puts a toe out of order, it won't just be his head... But yours too."

"I've interned at Alias Investigations - that's how you know you can trust me. Jessica Jones, the finest private eye in New York City, trained me in the art of detective work. If you need her to do anything in this endeavor, I can give you the number."

"I don't care if you studied under Nancy Drew or Sherlock Holmes himself. If Tobias catches on to what you're doing, I can not protect you." Mycroft began to organize the papers on his desk. "If I need a detective I'll reach out to Jessica Jones personally, or better yet, her daughter Jensen that's been going to this academy... Well, longer than you." He wasn't happy about this agreement -
it was apparent all over his face. "Stick to what you know Ms. Prince, fighting the bad guys and finding the truth... Leave the detective work to the professionals."

Her heart stopped. The blush in Phoebe's face went white - whiter than the ghost from her past come back to haunt her. Jensen Jones was enrolled at Descendant Academy? How come she hadn't seen her in the three weeks she'd been attending? And furthermore,
why hadn't Jack told her!? He was starting to become the worst friend in the world. She gulped. "Oh. Good then. So it's settled." It was as though the lasso were tied around her neck. "You have my eyes, as well as Jessica's and....Jensen's...if need be..." Nothing more to say (and nothing more she could work herself up to say), Phoebe darted towards the door. "I'll see you soon, Mycroft. Thanks for your cooperation." Once it closed, she pressed herself against the hallway's end.

Athena, fucking guide me.

It was hard to tell whether this news was good or bad. Phoebe just stood there, motionless, choking on air. Because in the past (and now in the present), Jensen Jones always managed to take her breath away.

A lot of people forgot about the pool on the roof. After a certain amount of time at Descendant Academy, it started to blend in with the rest of the scenery. No one really swam in it, especially not during the fall or winter months. It was just kind of there: visible, but not in the forefront of anyone's mind. Just like Zozo, who was fast asleep on a neon green pool floatie, purple swim trunks covering his lower half and a pair of Ray-Bans over his eyes.

He just lay there, submerged over the water while inside the stupor of sleep. Finally, his lids began to blink open after Ross's mass text caused his cellphone to buzz. Maybe it wasn't wise to keep a Galaxy s4 inside the pocket of your swim trunks, but whatever. Magic could make anything waterproof. He groggily swatted his leg at first, thinking he could just kill the vibration like it was a fly buzzing against his skin. But as the sensation persisted, he knew it was time to get up. God damn it was cold - colder than a witch's teat, as his mom would say. Probably because he wasn't wearing a shirt. Or maybe because the sky was still pitch-black. Well, at least it looked pitch-black, since, oh yeah...there were shades over his eyes.

"Ohhhhhh shit..." he whispered while thumbing them to the top of his head, realizing an ocean of chlorinated water sat between him and dry land. Of all the random locations he'd awoken to the sight of, this was definitely on his top five list. Weirder than the middle of Times Square, but definitely not as iconic as the floor of a Brazilian ice cream truck on its way to the 2016 Olympic Games. He had a penchant for waking up in strange places. This instance barely fazed him.

You know those moments when you're alone and the sheer thought of being all by yourself in a barren place leaves you anxious? Like a ghost will pop out at you or something similarly spooky? That's what was running through his rambunctious mind. So, naturally, when he slowly turned his head towards a dark corner to find the intimidating Tobias Lehnsherr lounging on a lawn chair...

"AAAAHHHHH!!!"

Splash.

"FUCK! FUCK THAT'S COLD!" He sploshed around like a baby penguin trying to swim for the first time. "TOBY, YOU COULD'VE MADE YOUR PRESENCE KNOWN IN A LESS TRAUMATIC WAY! NOW I'M FUCKING DROWNING LOOK WHAT
YOU'VE-"

He was bubbling underneath the water before he could finish the sentence. For a few moments, the pool was still. No waves or sporadic splashing or anything. Then finally, Zozo came back up for air, a misty vapor rising along with his ascension. His nostrils flared, then both hands ran through the blue-black mop atop his head. Like a mop, it was sopping wet, slicked to his skull. The sunglasses were long gone, floating somewhere near the shallow end.

"Just kidding. I've been swimming since the diaper days." He doggie-paddled over to the nearest edge and pressed his forearms into the concrete, gazing at Tobias with a mischievous smirk while still submerged in the water. "Okay. So I know what you're thinking," he said, "I can see the question hidden behind those icy blue eyes, and I'll admit the answer is embarrassing. I was practicing spell-casting...while underwater," He gazed up at the sky, away from that ever-judging Lehnsherr glare. "Like I wanted to see if it would work. But every time I said something it came out like hbluhbluhbluh because y'know...I was underwater. You can't pronounce backwards words correctly with H2O flowing in your mouthhole..." He propped his left palm against his cheek, momentarily analyzing the beautiful navy and purple colors which seeped into the sunrise. "I think the more delicious question is, what are you, Toby the Hermit, doing on the rooftop during the wee hours of the morning?"

Just then, another person approached the scene. "Something wicked this way walks," Zozo mused once he recognized the small stature and hawkish features of Thaleia Castle. "Oh," she said at Tobias in monotone, "It's you."

"And me," Zozo gave a large grin. "Good evening-morning Thaleia." He pulled out his phone, clearly waterlogged, and placed it onto the concrete, trying to think up a simple spell that would fix it. With his dyslexia, sometimes he found motioning the letters with his finger helped him recite the spell easier. So his pinkie traced five invisible letters into the solid ground. Then once he was ready, he said, "Niard," and the excess water spurted out through the fissures of his device. Thank god for magic. He typed in his password and viewed the text which had woken him up mere seconds ago...

"OH MY GOD WHAT THERE'S A PARTY AT MURDOCK'S!" he shouted to Tobias and Thaleia. What the hell were they doing on the roof when the Devil of Hell's Kitchen was deviling around in his kitchen? "What else happened while I was asleep? Why is everyone up so goddamn early this morning?"

Just then, it clicked. "Wait. Don't tell me," he facepalmed. "There was a simulation wasn't there? And I missed it..." Scrunching his face up into a ball, he moaned, then slowly slipped back into the water. This time, he didn't feel like coming back up.

ImagePetra's short conversation with Riley on the elevator left her feeling even more bereft than before. She couldn't explain the sudden bout of depression over her social life - or lack thereof - but remembering Riley's words made her feel even worse. He was still friendly, still trying to make conversation despite the cold, curt responses she'd offered him on so many occasions. And the anxiety and panic he held so tightly to himself, thinking no one knew - sometimes she couldn't decide if she was supposed to admire or pity the Barton boy.

Upon entering her penthouse, the cape was discarded over the coat rack, and Petra sank back onto the couch, curling back into the position she'd been in before the morning started. With a blanket pulled around her shoulders and the weight of a book in her hands, Petra was quickly cocooned in peace, sinking her mind into the world of fiction. At least like this she could occupy herself with something aside from her thoughts.

The quiet didn't last long. Her phone, abandoned on a table by the door, buzzed with a text. Without looking, Petra raised her hand and levitated the device over to her. A few quick swipes of her finger in midair, crimson streaks corresponding to her hand motions zipping across the phone's screen, and the phone unlocked, displaying Ross's text.

Well...why not. At this point, Petra was so eager to spend time around people that she'd be willing to go to breakfast with her classmates. Even the ones she didn't have a strong relationship with, and she could bet that Wren would be more than happy to oblige such an invitation. She rose from the couch, her back popping as it straightened, and the blanket folded itself up neatly on the couch. Time to go see how normal people interact.

A few minutes later, she stood at the entrance of Jack's penthouse, looking slightly perturbed as she took in Ross and Riley, already settled in, and Caitria, Alec, and Jensen making themselves comfortable. Already she was beginning to regret her decision to socialise. "Hello."

Image"Fuck you both."

Faced with Wren's potty mouth and accusing finger, Jensen backed into the elevator, hands up in mock surrender, though her unrepentant grin said otherwise. "No need for that kind of language," she feigned disapproval, still laughing.

She shut up quick, letting Wren rant about the simulation, wincing in sympathy when Wren revealed her healing wounds. As someone possessing regenerative healing, Jensen understood all too well what a bitch it was to have to heal wounds, convenient as that power was.

"So, fuck you both." Wren's tirade ended the same way it began - with an expletive levelled at both Alec and Jensen.

"Very compelling argument, especially with the bookending. I just have one question, though - if we," and here she indicated Alec and herself, "didn't have to punch a truckload of simulated goons to get a fancy invitation, are we still invited to that gala?" Not that she minded it much, a fancy dress party sounded as good an excuse as any to have a bit of fun outside of training. Although, given the temperament that the Joneses were known for, maybe Mycroft had more than good reason to not want her hanging around people from the United Nations.

Jensen trailed behind Wren into Murdock's penthouse, leaning on a bar stool beside Ross. She smirked, noting the way his eyelids and head drooped in tandem. "Trade you a bit of bourbon for some of whatever Murdock's serving?" she offered, wiggling her hip flask of Wild Goose beside Ross's face. She took a bite out of her muffin, scattering crumbs on the floor, and held that out to him too, feeling uncharacteristically generous after everyone else had endured a simulation that she'd gotten to skip out on. "Not exactly a morning bird, are you?" She ignored the movement at the door that heralded Petra's arrival, not being familiar with the witch.

ImageRiley stretched out on the floor, shoving the pillow under his head to cushion it as Ross lamented his lack of a date. Was it Riley's imagination, then, or did Ross look briefly regretful? Whatever it was, it was gone as quickly as it had come.

"You could go with meh? We'd be the sexiest couple there... I mean look at meh."

"Amen to that," Riley agreed, raising an arm as though he was making an invisible toast. "Everyone's going to be jealous of me. The girls will send me hate mail. The guys will slam me against lockers." He paused, considering the school's lack of lockers. "Mycroft will install lockers for the express purpose of letting guys slam me against them."

The door opened, and Riley rolled his eyes as high as they could go, trying to see who it was. Blonde hair, and a cool voice - no mistaking who that was. Caitria. Riley managed a sleepy smile in her direction, and closed his eyes again, pushing Jack's voice out of his head. It wasn't really much of his business who Ross invited here, as long as he got food and a nice place to rest his head.

Forceful footsteps jolted Riley out of his peaceful slumber, each step radiating across the floor and into his head. He groaned, pushing himself into a sitting position. "Hey, let a guy sleep in peace," he complained in Wren's general direction as she burst into the room, though for all the attention she paid him he might as well have been a fly buzzing around outside the window. Two more people followed behind her, and Riley raised a hand in greeting as he recognised Jensen and Alec.

"Watch the door for me, okay? And make sure Ross doesn't invite the Avengers next." Riley's eyes opened when Jack's voice sounded somewhere near his face - oh, food! He took the plate carefully from Jack, digging a fork into the plate's contents. "For this, I'll throw Ross off the roof if you wanted me to," he agreed. "Although you gotta admit it'd be cool to eat breakfast with Captain America, eh?" he called after Jack's departing back, before remembering that his father was one of the Avengers. "Oh wait, maybe not my dad... Yeah, okay, boss."

Still firmly planted on the floor, Riley began eating, keeping an eye on the door like Jack asked him to. When it opened again to reveal Petra Maximoff, of all people, he almost choked on his eggs, staring in disbelief. Petra? Answering Ross's breakfast invitation. Gosh.

"Oh, uh, hey!" He waved at her, smiling. "There's food there, you can - help yourself..." He trailed off, realising the disconcerted expression on her face, and got to his feet, careful not to tip his plate too far. "They're only interested in the food. Go on, grab a bite and sit down," he invited warmly.

When Xavier is back in his own room, he changed his attires into something else that is more informal and suitable for socializing. While most of the time what he prefers are suits and professional choices of wardrobes, it doesn't mean that he is not up to something more fashionable and 'updated'. There's a lot for others to find out about this old man, after all, and it wouldn't be so interesting as to show them all in one go, isn't it? All the chatteries and fussing about how untrustworthy of an individual he is, but if people can truly read his thoughts, they would know that he much enjoys things to be that way.

Glancing at the invitation for the gala, Xavier couldn't helped mustering over what can possibly happen when it actually occurs. It is quite obvious that unlike some of the others, he was born for these kinds of events. This is a known fact even to the mentors that most of the infiltration missions they sent him to before are mostly to be an attendant of these refined activities. And as the saying goes, there is always a party crasher for any parties. It is not entirely a bad thing, in fact, for recently there hasn't been so many occasions where Xavier can stretch his muscles just a little bit more.

From: Speculum Scandinavian
Ey fuckers... Murdock's makin' food and we're bitchin' about ole cue ball's gala bull shite.

Xavier almost chuckled at the message he received from Ross, his all-time favorite drinking buddy. It seemed that others have already started having quite a bit of a get-together in Jack's place, so he figures he should be leaving before he miss all the amusing things that can be already happening there. Usually he would just pop in from thin air and make an entrance but he doesn't feel like doing the same thing twice today, so Xavier summoned a rather exquisite-looking bottle of wine before heading to the literal 'lair of the Devil' in a normal human way.

Disembarking the plane that had just arrived at Connecticut with his shades on, Zachary made his way to the parking lot of the airport where he left his car before he left for a trip to Xavier's Institution. He is invited there on behalf of his daddy, who once was a super famous X-Man and a former faculty of the school, to give lectures and teaches lessons for the newly recruited mutants in utilization of their gifts. Well, while a 32-year-old gal like him is still a student spending his days away at the prestigious Descendant Academy, Zachary still takes his pride in his career as a lecturer. So, he enjoys teaching and showing the kids of what wondrous things they can do. A good thing that afterwards he had managed to earn himself a small fanclub.

Speaking of lecturers, Zachary clearly saw the discontented look on Mycroft's face when he handed his leave of absence notice. He always knew the old man hated it when any of the students take a leave on his many 'precious' lessons, whether for an acceptable reason or not. Of course, he respected him and the other mentors for their abilities and experiences, but just like the others, Zachary found them to be a real hassle, or in a cruder way to put it, a pain in the ass. But having stayed there for the past 6 years, it's the least of things that he is already used to already. They are not the best of teachers in the world but, as a student under them and a fellow lecturer, Zachary acknowledges their efforts, nonetheless.

Striding his Rolls-Royce through the residential streets of Bridgeport, he kept himself low as he enters the suburb area where the Academy situated. Passing through all the security protocols and parking his car where it meant to be, Zachary just casually strolling his way up the escalator to his own room, hoping to have nice day off while planning what should he be doing for the day, until a message popped up in his phone.

From: Frankie Winnie
Hiya, Frosty. Nate and I are hanging out in my penthouse if you wanna join. Phoebe will showing up at some point. :)

Frankie is a good friend of Zachary. He pretty much considers her as a younger sister of sorts and is actually thinking about her, since he brought gifts back from his trip to Xavier's for a handful of people who are his friends and acquaintances, which included the daughter of Spidey. "They just had a practical session or something...?" He ponders over the probable reason why they are having a get-together. Seemed like he missed quite a bit during his absence too, which is actually a pity for someone who enjoys working like him. But at least he doesn't have to think over what he is going to do now, so he texted back.

To: Frankie Winnie
Sure thing, just returned from my trip too. I'll stop there in a bit. Got a present for you ;)

Upon returning to his penthouse, Zachary unpacked and got changing real quick, bringing with him the gifts for his friends before leaving for Frankie's place.

"Hey there, Xavie. Where ya heading to?" Zachary caught sight of the son of Dr. Strange on his way, who is also in his usual informal attires and was heading somewhere, rather than in his usual professional suits. For some reasons he doesn't know the man is walking rather than just teleporting like he does usually.

"Good morning, my dear Zach. It seemed that your trip to Xavier's Institute was uneventful." Xavier turned his head and greeted Zachary, a fellow descendant couple of years younger than him and one of the few friends he had, "I'm heading to the so-called Hell's Kitchen of Jack for breakfast, as I was invited earlier. Looks like a band had already gathered there though. Do you want to tag along?"

"Ah, that sounds good. Murdock's always been a dab hand in the kitchen. Though I'm heading to Frankie's place now, actually. A get-together is also happening there. Seems like everyone just in the mood to chill out, huh? Lemme guess, a practical session just took place this morning while everyone was still wandering in the dreamworld or tending to their owns?"

Xavier nodded, "A simulation session after a Hydra base. I thought we would be trifling with the beasts, but in the end it was not as much as striding through a field." He chuckled, "Still, it was a fun one. We had to recover what the mentors specifically noted as of great importance, but the prize is but merely a gala with all the big boys present that is about to take place in this very humble campus, soon."

"Well, I suppose we're both used to the not-so-surprising exercises already." Zachary grinned, "A pity though, I have always enjoyed simulations. But a gala though? This is too good of an opportunity for oppressors to wreck havoc. No altitudes of security could hope to absolutely prevent that. More so if the 'big boys' are going to be there as you say. Don't we all know that already?"

"That is exactly my thought, dearest Zach. But still, a gala is a gala, nonetheless. It's exactly where both of us are meant to be whereas others just didn't seem to be so enthusiastic. At least we can play tag and see to it while it lasts. I don't think my partner for the simulation earlier is up to it, so do I have the pleasure with you?"

"The pleasure is always mine, Xavie. Now I got another thing to think about." Zachary laughed, "And before I forgot. Here's the 'souvenir' for you. Took me a bit of effort and some persuasion but nothing too hard." He took out a small wooden box carved with sophisticated carvings and handed it to Xavier.

"Reliable as always, Zach. If there's any chances to return the favor, let me know." Xavier took the box from his fellow guardian with a nod, and transporting it to his reservoir. They are about to part ways, "I'll catch you up later before the event then."

"Later it is then, amigos."

Standing in front of Jack Murdock's penthouse, Xavier called out to inform others of his presence, "Hope everyone's okay in there, I'm coming in." Doesn't even bother to open the door, the scenery changed in a heartbeat and before anyone knows it, Xavier had already been sitting next to Ross. Gazing around, he saw that quite a handful of individuals are here.

Caitria, Jensen and Riley had already made themselves at home, while Jack and Wren are conversing privately, probably something others would be teasing about. Petra, though, is unexpected for someone who doesn't seem like much of a social animal. After acknowledging all of them, he placed the bottle he brought along on the counter and turned to Ross, "Romanee-Conti DRC 1990?" It's already a little bit over a week ago since they hang out to get drunk, so hopefully Ross wouldn't turn it down.

Meanwhile, Zachary had just also made it to Frankie's penthouse. Knocking on the door, he informed whoever inside of his presence, "Frankie, I'm coming in." He opened the door to the place and allowed himself in. Upon entering, he saw both Frankie and Nathaniel seemingly enjoying themselves. He is friends with Frankie but isn't particularly too close with the son of Bane, as he usually keeps to himself most of the time. But he also strikes him as someone who is not only a walking tower, but also a respectable genius as well. And it also occurs to Zachary that Nathaniel is seemingly what they would call 'a hunk with a heart of gold'.

"Glad to see you, little Spidey. Same to you, Nate. How's the simulation been for both of you? Too bad I miss it though." Zachary was quick to make himself comfortable as he approached the two. It was nice to have some moments to chill out before the grandeur, after all.

Caitria raised an eyebrow at the silence that followed her arrival. Jack looked like he didn't have a clue what was going on or why the blonde just strutted into his penthouse. Suddenly, Caitria caught a flicker of realization on Murdock's face. "What did you do now, McCulloch?" he groaned. Ross probably invited the entire academy to Jack's penthouse, Caitria realized. How did Jack not predict that out of Ross McCulloch?

Caitria caught sight of a familiar ginger as Jack started a short little spiel. "This isn't IHop, Ross! You can't just expect me to prepare breakfast for the whole academy! I have no qualms with more guests, but you should've asked before-"

Caitria winced as Wren spoke up, which resulted with Jack slamming into refrigerator. He quickly attempted to gather his composure. "Heyyyyy..." Caitria realized what was happening, praying that this would work out for Murdock and hopefully, he would have his ass brutally rejected.

Caitria snatched up one of the eggs benedict, spearing her fork through the egg and English muffin. The blonde heard the door open as someone new arrived. She turned around, stealing a glance at the newcomer. Caitria wasn't going to lie, she was definitely surprised when she saw Petra walk into the penthouse next. "Hey, Petra," she greeted. Caitria thought it was a bit awkward; she and Petra didn't talk to each other much.

"Yeah, that sounds like an understatement," Ulrich agreed.

There was a short moment of silence before Ulrich brought up a topic that Andrew, in all honesty, was expecting. "So this beast form of yours...is it insatiable for blood and destruction? I don't know much about this other form of yours. I kind of only have myths to go off so sorry if it seems...." Ulrich paused for a moment, "...intrusive? And is it really true there's no way to call you back? That once this other thing takes over, Andrew as we know him is gone?"

Andrew sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's a bit difficult to explain," Andrew told the other man, "but I can try. I can't blame you for being curious.

"My father is Patrick Mulligan, but at the same time, my father is Toxin. Patrick Mulligan and Toxin are two different beings, but that does not mean I have two fathers; I only have one. Patrick Mulligan is a host for Toxin, but since both are my one father, it doesn't work like that for me. My body isn't a host for another being. When my beast form is triggered, I'm not in the right mind, but I'm still Andrew Mulligan. Unfortunately, I can't control myself when my beast form is activated. I've always wanted to learn how to control it, but that takes trial and error, and that process...well, I'm not going to lie, it does kind of freak me out. I have to trigger my beast form with absolutely no control over it, in order to train for having control over my beast form."
Andrew laughed. "That's a big contradiction."

Ulrich stayed silent for a couple seconds before changing the topic. "So what's on your agenda? Are you going to Jack's breakfast thing? I think he's having an open breakfast club thing. I'll go if you go. But if you don't go, I might look like less of a pretentious jerk." Ulrich flashed a smile.

Andrew chuckled. "You bet I'm gonna go," he said. "I have a feeling that McCulloch invited everybody to Jack's place without him knowing. It's too late to take that message back, though. Half the academy is probably already flocking to Murdock's penthouse as we speak."

"And me," Thaleia furrowed her brows with displeasure at Zoltar Zatara's energetic smile. "Good evening-morning Thaleia."

"It's just morning," Thaleia deadpanned. She disdainfully watched Zozo clear the liquid out of his waterlogged phone with a spell, a faint scowl on her lips. She wasn't too fond of people who constantly used their magic or superpowers; Thaleia felt that it made them either lazy, flippant, or both. Thaleia nursed her beer as Zozo checked his device.

"OH MY GOD WHAT THERE'S A PARTY AT MURDOCK'S!" Thaleia cringed at the volume. "What else happened while I was asleep? Why is everyone up so goddamn early this morning?"

Thaleia raised an eyebrow, scoffing slightly. How could Zozo not know what happened?

Just as Thaleia thought that, realization flickered over Zatara's face. "Wait. Don't tell me," he slapped his forehead. "There was a simulation wasn't there? And I missed it..." the brunette man groaned, sinking beneath the water.

Thaleia took a swig of her beer before staring down at where wisps of Zozo's brown hair floated to the surface of the pool. "How could you not know about the simulation?" she commented dryly. "JARVIS was the messenger...and you know. Computer systems."
