Kathy and Mark Clarke were wed on this day, December 18, two years ago. Kathy had a whole surprise party waiting for him when he came home. Kathy was right around we due date at nine months. All of their family and friends were scattered around the living room.
"Shh, he's coming!" Kathy quieted down some talking relatives.

A few years had past now after the birth of his son Alistair, he was a lovely little boy and growing up so fast. He was quite very quite in fact he barely spoke, didn't like loud noises on the odd occasion and he and Kathy did fight. He would sit on the floor staring at the celing watching the shadows dance across the room.
The family was sitting in the living room, Ali was sitting on the floor drawing in a book rocking slowly back and forth humming to himself, Mark was watching the local football game. Turning to his wife he spoke " Kathy? I know you may think I'm being paranoid. But I do think there's something wrong with Alistair. He doesn't let us hug him unless he hugs us, he doesn't speak yet and even if he doesn't it's things he repeats. And I've seen him spinning around in the garden. I think we should consider taking him to a doctor."
The family was sitting in the living room, Ali was sitting on the floor drawing in a book rocking slowly back and forth humming to himself, Mark was watching the local football game. Turning to his wife he spoke " Kathy? I know you may think I'm being paranoid. But I do think there's something wrong with Alistair. Kathy frowned deeply at Mark, and looked to Ali. "Baby, why don't you go get some more colors? " Ali slowly looked up at her, and sighed, going upstairs.
Kathy waited until the boy was gone. "Mark, you know better than to talk about him in front of him! " She crossed her arms, and sighed, looking at the calendar. "The only free day we have is tomorrow. December 19th." She looked dull, and sighed, growing angrier by the second. "I'll see what's available. But until then, you keep your fat mouth shut!" Kathy trotted to the kitchen, finishing up that night's supper.

Mark was shocked at his wife's outburst at his comment about Ali, the doorbell rang and Mark stood walking past Ali who was sitting on the stairs, his fingers tracing the gaps in the banisters he looked to the door as Mark opened it. Walking to the door Mark smiled to the man who was holding out a bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates, Kathy's favourite.
" thanks a lot, you've came at just the right time" Mark smiled handing over some money, he stopped Ali from going out the door, distracting him with a soft. Key ring on his keys. Ali walked into the living room sitting down and looking at his paper.
Mark closed the door and walked through to the kitchen " Kate?" He spoke putting down the flowers and chocolate. He wrapped his arms around her kissing her neck softly. " I'm sorry baby, I'm just worried about Ali, he's different and I think you know that too" he turned her around pointing to the flowers and chocolates " you thought I forgot? Happy anniversary" he kissed Her on the head.
Ali hummed softly as he looked at the tv, his hands tapping together.

Happy anniversary" he kissed Her on the head.
Ali hummed softly as he looked at the tv, his hands tapping together.
"Tomorrow us Ali's birthday. I'd rather you spend money on him, not me." She looked down as she was kissed, and stirred the pot of spaghetti.
Mark rested his head on Kathy's, he hated when Kathy was in a mood with him he felt like nothing could be done. He hadn't forgot about Ali's birthday, but he didn't know what to get him. Ali barely spoke so he didn't really know what to get him, he liked drawing and when Mark read stories to him of a night. Other than that he didn't know what Ali would like.
" Do you have any idea what we should get him? Perhaps some paints" He asked " You know it is our anniversary, how about when Ali is in bed we can watch a film, have a drink or two and just spend time together. Sound good?"
Ali walked into the kitchen a picture in his hand that he had drew, it looked like a tree with the sun in the corner. Tapping his mother he held up the picture his eyes on the floor. He looked out the window seeing a cat, his mind connecting to things he had seen to do with a cat. String, fish, beds, fluffy tails and sharp claws. " Cat" he said pointing out the window.
" Do you have any idea what we should get him? Perhaps some paints" He asked " You know it is our anniversary, how about when Ali is in bed we can watch a film, have a drink or two and just spend time together. Sound good?"

"Very good baby." Kathy turned around and picked Ali up in her arms, and walked over to the fridge. "We are gonna put this right here, alright?" She smiled at her son warmly and looked at her husband. "So you going to draw one for Daddy?"
Ali squeaked a little when he was picked up, he watched as his mom stuck his picture on the fridge he clapped his hands together. Looking at all the other pictures on the fridge as well as other things that he didn't know about. He wriggled a little, his hands pulled off the magnets from the fridge dropping them to the floor, watching them bounce and roll on the floor.
Mark sighed " Ali don't do that buddy, someone might hurt themselves"
Ali nodded to himself not noticing what he was asked, he began humming as he wriggled again getting down, he looked up at the light in the kitchen his hands fiddling with each other. He looked around the kitchen his hands tapping together, he was thirsty now. " juice" he asked pointing to the cupboard.
Mark sighed " Ali don't do that buddy, someone might hurt themselves"
Ali nodded to himself not noticing what he was asked, he began humming as he wriggled again getting down, he looked up at the light in the kitchen his hands fiddling with each other. He looked around the kitchen his hands tapping together, he was thirsty now. " juice" he asked pointing to the cupboard.
Kathy put the boy down and sighed watching him. "What do you say, Ali?" Kathybhoped her motherly skills would pay off eventually.
Ali looked at the floor, looking briefly at his mother as she asked him what he had to say. He moved forward taking her hand and lifting it up to the cupboard "Juice.." He pointed again his feet shuffling from side " please" he muttered looking up at the light again, he looked as his dad put the magnets back on the fridge. Letting go of his mothers hand he tapped his fingers togetherness staring back up at the light again.
A thy poured Ali some juice on a cup with a lid, and sighed. As Ali did whatever, she helped Mark pick up the pieces to the magnets. When they were done, she looked at Mark teary eyed. "He is different isn't he?" She bit her lip, and buried her head in his chest.
Mark wrapped his arms around Kathy, rubbing her back " I know babe, I know. We will get it sorted out, the doctor will tell us what is wrong with him" he smiled down at Ali as he drank his juice walking around the house into the living room to watch tv.
"I'll finish supper, you go spend time with Ali" Mark said kissing her softly.

Mark began to stir the spaghetti making sure it didn't stick together, his mind thought about Ali and what could be wrong with him. Something was definatly wrong with him, but what could it be?
Ali sat looking at the t.v, rocking back and forth slowly his hands tapping together. He smiled at the t.v as a programme he liked came on about a talking dog, giggling to himself he looked down at the bricks in and around his lap. He heard his mother speak to him but didn't turn around for a while.
Pointing to the t.v he spoke " Dog mom" he pushed the bricks off his lap. He climbed on to his mothers lap, looking at the t.v as well as fiddling with his hands.
