Although Anne Rice has since abandoned the faith of her childhood, still she holds dear to her heart the possibility of redemption. While she now considers herself a genuinely good person, her jaded outlook has twisted her honest intentions into self-serving karma. In her old age she has become selfishly protective of her creature comforts and rather magnanimous towards humanity as whole. While Rice means well in her goals, her execution comes across as condescending, but her sensual charm makes up for much of her impropriety.

The juxtaposition of her current carriage and her internal faith springs from her insistence of God. Deeply embroiled in the Catholic Church from girlhood, she deeply internalized the existence of God, and the comforting creed of higher purpose. Even though she felt constantly trapped by the rigid structure of her faith, the dogma of it enchanted her greatly. Her dependence on Christianity continued to grow despite her deep-seated discomfort with many of its tenants.

By puberty however, Rice had become disconcertingly aware of her trouble internalizing the Church’s teachings and it finally ended with a crisis of faith. The catalyst to this, admitting her sexuality to herself was terrifying as it was heartbreaking; at the age of 16 she officially broke from her faith. It was in this time of strife and turmoil that she came into her Ability -- Queen of the Damned.

For years her vampiric ability represented to her a cursed existence--unable to eat or age properly, she was a girl lost in time trying to find herself. Rice found herself alienated from everything she knew and tried to desperately relearn her body in any way she could. It was during this interminable period that she used her magnetic charm and newfound sensuality to charm her way into the Guild.

Frantic to find a new purpose and hopeful to surround herself with peers, Rice leapt onto the opportunity to prove herself. Exploiting her newfound sexual nature, she forged herself as a honeypot to bait the Guild’s many traps. While she excelled in this for a quite sometime, her developing comfort with her body allowed her to finally examine more existential questions.

With the Pandora’s box open, Rice found herself unable to continue her work with the Guild. The guilt of her wrongdoing overwhelmed her, and caused her too many almost-missteps to be safe, forcing her to retire regardless of the organization's opinion on her withdrawal. Directionless once more, Rice found herself a wealthy vagrant, wandering listlessly through America.

It took her many years of wrestling with herself to accept her Ability as gift and not a curse--a tool and not a punishment. With her self acceptance came her redemption, and with that returned her confidence. Determined to use her powers for good, she found Murakami and IQ84. Like with her recruitment to the Guild, Rice aggressively positioned herself as an uniquely qualified Ability User. Her manipulations paid off, and she was quickly recruited into the agency.

Although her resume boasts her credentials, her conduct makes her a much more bewildering person to her coworkers. While her worldview makes her frustrating to understand, her loyalty to cause is comforting in its surety.

Queen of the Damned (罰当たりの女王, bachiatari no shoou) is a permanent transformation. It allows Rice her slow aging and quick healing, but requires her to feed on “life energy.” This qualifies as either blood or sex, and leaves her minor abilities in allure and hypnotism in order to augment her capability to feed.

A survivor of his poverty-stricken youth, Jack London has grow into a very pragmatic man. Like his attitude towards his ability, every aspect of his life is just a tool used to further his success--money and freedom. His practical nature has become apart of everything he does: from his placid interactions with others; to his hardworking, goal oriented mindset. Although he carries himself with a mellow and affable demeanor, he approaches obstacles with a single-mindedness that can lead to a terrifying tunnel vision. For all his faults however, London is a quiet optimist with a lust for adventure and success.


Aware of the power of money from a very young age, his childhood was a continuous scramble for money. Finally reaching the breaking point of his desperation, London dropped out of school at 14 and was drawn into a gang of small time thieves that operated in his neighborhood. While he at first had qualms over the legal and moral implications of his actions, the failing health and constant hunger of his family drove him to quickly disregard things he did not have the luxury to consider, like “principles” or “ethics.”


Although he spent quite a few years with his crew, his years of illicit activities did little to shape him as a person. At the tender age of 19 he was caught and prosecuted for a range of offenses committed while he was living illegally. When the depth of his poverty was revealed, he managed to negotiate a plea bargain with the American Supernatural Federal Bureau to testify against his fellow delinquents and work off his crimes under the employment of the Bureau.


London flourished under the stability of the government work, but quickly began to thirst for more. His more dubious years on the streets had given him a taste for adventure and travel, and his monotonous job with the Bureau did little to stimulate him. Grateful for the money and education given to him but chafing against his limitations, he was very quickly recommended for transfer to IQ84 as a long term loan of good faith between organizations.


With his transfer to the IQ84, London has finally grown into his own. A confident man assured of his ability, he works to keep his hard earned security, and revels in his freedoms.

Call of the Wild (野性の呼び声, Yasei no Yobigoe) allows London to commune with animals. This enables him to scout out locations, eavesdrops on conversations and otherwise be places that he should not physically be. While his ability includes all animals - from insects to birds to mammals - he can only commune with creatures of the wild. This means that animals that have been in anyway domesticated cannot hear his call, although his natural animal magnetism goes great lengths to placate tamed beasts. The opposite of course is also true for feral animals to which the wild has called away from humanity.

Hélène’s faction work to become a (Candid) Espionage Saniwa was suggested (or more rather, given) to her by her Roma mentor, Andrjez. Many in the House within Germany had had to hide Saniwa or Saniwa trainees from the Nuremberg Race Laws which persecuted and disenfranchised Jewish people, but was often interpreted to include other groups including Gypsies. As such, many of the Saniwa working out of Germany or the occupied territories under Hitler's rule struggled to keep their less fortunate fellows from the government’s eye.

Hélène’s first contribution to this effort earned her entrance to the Espionage faction, and a promotion. She had spent the last year between her mentor’s death and her graduation building up her network and ingratiating herself with the local Nazi authorities. She had made great use of her high society contacts to find sympathizers and people capable of producing false papers.

While Hélène was unable to help the older trainees at her training center, she managed to use the excuse of a summer vacation in order smuggle 12 manifested children from her training center to a secluded summer home further in the countryside. She hid some of them in her luggage, some in crawl spaces of her car, and others were entrusted to other non-House affiliated compatriots from her time in the League of German Girls (Jungmädel). Her influence as the daughter of prominent members of the party allowed to successfully transport the children without fuss or the threat of searches.

In moving them out from under scrutiny in her hometown, she made it exponentially easier to send them across the border to Poland, which was not yet occupied. Hélène’s actions also kept others in her training school from being prosecuted for harboring anyone “racially suspect.” As she completed her task free of almost any House influence, the House of Four Winds considered her work very impressive.
