Introduction

WASHINGTON DC

Deep under the Washington Memorial, scientists are conducting experiments for a super soldier. A formidable opponent that does not need to sleep and can withstand massive amounts of damage. Animal tests are excellent, a rat survives a gunshot, an ant takes several stomps before dying. The first human experiments are conducted. Two men and women volunteer to be lab rats. Three of them die, but one lives. This being is no longer an army veteran, but a cunning, ruthless, intelligent, monster. The experiment is seen as a success. Brain tests show normal activity, but they didn't look in the right place. Deep in the brain the Ventromedial Nuclei, which control the feeling of being full after a meal, has been completely deactivated. While the Hypothalamus, responsible for the feeling of hunger, is on overdrive. For three days and nights, the beast slumbers. Until finally, it springs. It's skin is mottled blue, it's eye sunken, but it is strong. It uses its extra long fingernails from when it was a women to claw and tear through security. It's new biochemistry allows 25 centimeter wide tendrils to rupture from its back. It impales countless humans, but for every human impaled, a tendril falls off and evaporates. It saves five tendrils. The impaled humans, whos skin is mottled yellow and can use tools and act like a normal person, are now ravaging the capital. With its royal escort of yellow warriors, the Beast plots once more. It can see into the future somewhat, and sees its demise. The primal instinct to live still dwells in the Beasts soul. It searches for the ones who will bring its demise, and plans to kill them before their fated duel against the Beast.

You are one of the fated. You, along with the others, must face the trials and kill the Beast. Only then will the world be free of the virus. I wish you luck.

Jason and Chris got out, Wisp had been driving for an hour and a half. Now they were at a gas station. Chris drew his revolver but Jason forced it down "don't waste your ammo" Chris put his revolver away and pulled out his bat. They walked into the store together, "Walk down the center isle, then split left and look at every other isle." Jason said. Chris obeyed and they walked down the center together, melee weapons poised to strike. Jason had to kill two undead and Chris one. The store was now clear, and free to loot. Looking over the bodies, Jason found a concealed carrier with two mags of bullets that fit in his gun. The other body had a pack of cigarettes, Jason made a mental note to give them to Wisp. Chris didn't loot his body, but instead looked for formula. He found a box of diapers, some wipes, and a couple cans of powder formula. Jason looked for drinks and food. He came up with two bottles of Fiji and a six pack of Gatorade. In the way of food, he came up with a box of ramen noodles, oriental flavor, and a frozen pack of beef. He also found a pot, and camping stove. Walking back out, he handed the cigarettes to Wisp and Chris put the diapers and wipes in the back. Jason opened the camping stove and got to work making a bottle for the child. He was wondering what the little guys name was, and resolved to talk to Wisp about it later. "Hey Wisp, if we keep a lookout we should be able to stay the night here." Jason said. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure we could all use a rest" Chris added.

"All right, we should check if this place have a staff sleeping quarters, places like this sometimes do." Wisp said, taking the cigarettes and placing them in a pocket. He went to the other side of the car and took out the baby, closing the door behind him. The baby was a girl, according to Wisp's knowledge of babies, which was very vast surprisingly. Wisp walked into the store, going behind the counter by kicking the gate down. He looked around in the draws, pulling them out. He sighed, not finding what he wanted. He fell onto the chair, cradling the baby.

"Ok, I'll pull up the car closer to the store" Jason said. Chris started looking for the sleeping quarters, but he found zilch. The back room was accessible though. "Hey, we could probably sleep back here" Chris said loud enough for Jason to hear. So Jason drove the car into the gated area behind the store. There were no sleeping bags in the store, but there was a mix of five king-size quilts and two blankets. Chris arranged for three sleeping areas, as one person would always be on watch and he had no more covers. Jason, who was very good at not sleeping, offered to take first watch.

Wisp didn't need sleep, due to earlier drinking so many twenty four hour energy drinks. So instead, he played with the child that couldn't sleep. Wisp was bored out of his mind when the baby fell asleep, so decided to go outside. "I wonder how these things work..." he asked himself, referencing the virus and dead resurrection. He had taken his mask off not long ago and his eyes seemed to glow due to the dark tattoos on them.

Jason was sitting outside when Wisp popped out. "Man you gotta lay off the energy drinks, your bags are getting bags." Jason said to Wisp. Wisp asked a question about the undead. Jason replied with his two cents: "Looks like a hyper-mutated form of raibies that severs the connection to the frontal lobe and the eating lobe, whatever it's called." Chris snored loudly from inside the room. "Hey Wisp, I've never seen your pistol for longer than a few seconds, and I was wondering what it was... called" Jason saw something in his peripheral vision and turned, unsheathing his machete. "Gruuuuhhh" The moan didn't faze him anymore, he had changed dramatically in the span of twenty-four hours. A foot made itself visible, a body soon followed. Jason was silent, his machete drooping at his side. There was a zombie, but it was a kid. She looked no more than 5 years old. Jason knew it was a zombie, but he couldn't bring himself to kill a kid.

Wisp brought out his pistol and shot it a few times in the head, not giving a care in the world. He then proceeded to place the safety on and through it to Jason, "Look for yourself, I picked it up knowing how to use it, I haven't remembered every name of every gun." He ran his hand through his hair, combing it back only for it to bounce right back. He sighed as the baby began crying, he left and came back, shushing the child expertly. He cradled the child in a fatherly way, unlike his earlier personality were he didn't care what died and what survived.

Jason tilted his head at Wisp. He could go from a merciless killing machine, to a caring person so quickly it was unnatural. He stared at the body, it emphasized his point. Jason looked at the pistol in his hands. It was so different from the curvy elegance his U22 Neos embraced. It was blocky at the top, and had a rounded handle at the bottom. The casing exhaust port thing on the top was small, letting only the bullet casing out. Jason could only describe it as a glock, he didn't know which specific one it was, but it looked like a glock. Jason reached around Wisp to holister his pistol for him. He then offered to take the sleeping baby inside with his tiring self.

Wisp sighed, passing him the sleeping baby. Once Jason had left, Wisp leaned on the side of the building, taking out his wallet. He never used it for money other than his card, for certain purposes, but for remembering who he once was. A father of two seven year old sons and a three year old daughter. He picked out a small, folded picture from one of the compartments. Hidden behind the folds was a picture of him, his children and fiancé. His two sons had always tried to mimic his dark, satanic self by painting and drawing skulls and roses on their skin. He chuckled slightly at the memory before placing the picture back in his wallet. He placed the small holder in his pocket as he heard a groan come from the side of the building. The public toilet for males, the door had managed to crush a zombie in half due to the auto lock placed on it. He grabbed his gun, shooting it in the head.

Peter was beyond scared right now. Not only had he been rudely awakened from his nap by gunshots but whoever was out there had brought a shit ton of zombies with them. Peter frowned,

"Shit ton? I must not of been good in math class if that is how I am measuring the amount of zombies out there."

He groaned as he brought himself to a crouched position. Sleeping on nothing but concrete floors and flat cots takes a lot out of a person after a few days, never mind weeks. The sun was hiding behind clouds today, just like yesterday and the day before that. Peter wondered if the sky had always been grey and stormy. The roof he was taking refuge upon had a great overview of the surrounding area. Looking carefully over the ledge he scanned the streets below looking for the source of the gunshots. While he saw no living people, a massive herd of zombie could be seen heading straight toward the local gas station. Peter felt sorry for whoever had holed up there. There would be no easy way out in that fight. He checked his backpack. A few granola bars as well as several fresh bottles of water. He was amazed he was able to stumble upon a unopened, uncontaminated mini fridge stacked with bottles of water the day before. His stomach grumbled but he decided to put his next scavenger mission on hold until he found out who these new wanderers were and if they posed a threat. His battered machete lay beside him. Luckily he got out of most sticky situations by stealth and sheer agility. Peter recalled running to be a familiar motion to him and he liked the adrenaline spike it gave his body. To this day he had never had to use machete and he wanted to keep it that way. The weapon felt dull and clumsy in his hands and he had a better chance of hurting himself then any would be attacker.

Jason cradled the child in his arms as he walked into the room. He was extra careful with the baby, as the last time he held one, he dropped his sister. Maybe that's why she was a dick to him. Me made sure to cover and wrap the child in her sleeping area. He then tried to fall asleep on the empty, adult sized sleeping area. Chris had not waken up to the gunshots, so Jason assumed he was a heavy sleeper. Jason's head hit the blanket, he looked at the ceiling for a minute before sleeps embrace took him.

Wisp sighed, looking up to the sky. He had checked the area for any more of the undead and came out positive. His blonde hair had droplets of rain, dirt and blood in it from his daily actions. Normally, he would go to a butchers or a fishmongers in order to collect blood in order to mix into his cleaning materials to hide his humane stench, but those became scarcer and harder to purify from bacteria and possible infection with his limited resources. As he was once a forensics, Wisp had experience separating pollution from liquids in the science labs and knew how to do it pretty well. The sun soon came up and the baby began to cry once again. Wisp stood and went to her, picking her up and shushing her.

Ash was alone, afraid. Will the zombies find me? Will someone come for me? She was alone in her room with the door locked, and the windows boarded up, but she still didn't feel safe. In fact, she felt weak, vulnerable. She hoped someone would find her soon. So she would wait as long as she could. If no one came, then she would leave.[i]I hope they will find me[/i was her last thought before she fell asleep for the night.

Jason had woken up not long ago, he was on a jog. He was very good at distance and he'd done that in track. 'The apocalypse shall not get in the way of my morning jogs'. Logic. Truthfully, if the need arose to run a great distance, Jason was up for it. The teen could sprint two or three miles without stopping for any reason. He decided to take a long loop around the gas station, about one mile for now. He ran pretty close to a factory looking building, and thought he saw something on top. He kept running. He was almost about to turn back when a small town came into view. He stopped, realizing the run back was a half mile more than a mile. He had not broken a single sweat due to the light pace he was going at. He studied the town for a second more before going back to report his findings to Wisp and Chris. As he approached the station, he dropped into a walk to meet Wisp, who was holding the child. Jason didn't yet know what to call her, and left it up to Wisp to decide. He was the one who saved her after all.

Wisp sat on the small bench outside the gas station. He had long decided the name of the child, Lily, and was hoping for that brat, as he seems to prefer calling Jason, to come back so he can give her to him, so Wisp himself can finally check the car over. When he saw Jason coming, he calmly stood up and went to him, placing the child in Jason's arms and walking back over to the car. The car was alright, a bit bloody, but that could be washed. Wisp then checked the insides, for a post-apocalyptic vehicle: It was in good shape. He grabbed his mask from the back and put it on, making sure the straps were firm.

Jason briefly told Wisp about the town he had seen, and that he needed to check something out. As he walked back to the room the baby fell asleep in his arms, so he decided to put her on her bundle of blankets. Chris was in the corner messing with his phone. "Jason! the cell towers or whatever are still up!" He clicked his IPhone and a music track Jason was familiar with started playing. "Ahh, the song of the dragonborn, such a great piece" Jason exclaimed. Grabbing his machete, Jason headed back for the factory, Chris had not come because the football player was too into the music he was playing. Jason kicked down the door to the factory, and alerted his presence to the walking corpses inside. Earlier, he had taken the socks off the zombie he killed in the store and doused them in gasoline. He had also brought a lighter from the store. Just as he expected, the electricity in the building was barely enough for the light bulbs to flicker, and it was dim at that. Igniting his makeshift torch, Jason stepped into the factory, machete drawn.

Chris was still listening to music when he stepped out of the building. Wisp was still looking over the vehicle, but looked about done. He went into the store section of the gas station and looked over the bodies inside. He looked over one and found dog tags. "Aw shit" He saw a slight bulge in the side of the mans pants. He reached in, deducing that the corpse couldn't have an erection and came out with a concealed carry holister with an empty magazine in it. He took it off, and got an idea. He clipped the holister to his pants and stuck his bat in it. It was a little wobbly, but it would hold his bat and make it easy to get and easy to put away. Walking out of the store and feeling content with himself, he stopped dead in his tracks. "Eeeeeeerrraaavthhhhhh" the moan came from all directions at once, but was stronger behind him. He quickly turned in a panic, and almost fell. There were hundreds of zombies climbing a hill. They were moaning, climbing over each other, and the stink of rotting flesh hit his nose. He silently prayed that Jason would hurry on his expedition, for the zombies looked to reach them in as little as an hour and a half. He looked over, Wisp was already rushing to get the child in the storeroom. Chris ran into the store and made three trips of essentials into the car. Then, he grabbed two of the four shotguns and the box of shells. He put them in the backseat, in case he or Jason had to shoot zombies out of the windows or the sunroof. 'Jason!' Chris remembered Jason was at a factory, he looked down the road. "Oh shit, Jason!" He said. The factory was way closer to the murder of zombies. Chris had decided to call a group of zombie a murder in that instance. Like a pack of dogs, or a school of fish. He ran into the store room and told Wisp that Jason was in that abandoned factory, and that it was closer to the zombies.

Jason stepped into the gloom, turns out the whole building was deserted, except for one infected, which startled Jason so much he accidentally bashed it with his torch. Jason quickly looted a few rooms and looked for roof access. He spotted a stair case and quickly climbed it. He located roof acces and climbed those stairs too, he opened the door to roof access and squinted in the sunlight. His eyes adjusted and he scanned his surroundings. He saw a popped and bent machete lying next to a backpack. The backpack was attatched to a person. A wiry man, about twenty looking to Jason stood up and looked at him. He had brown hair and eyes. Jason fixed him with one of his own stares to level the playing field. He then unholistered and brandished his pistol. As if to say, "I'm not in a rush, I could wait here all day" Jason then once again looked up from the floor to the battered machete on the ground, and then to its presumed owner.

Ash woke up from a nightmare where she had been killed by the zombies.
It's just a dream she told herselfIt's not real.
She decided today was the day. She would leave her room, and venture into the dangerous world outside. She grabbed all the food she had, her one weapon: a kitchen knife, and her other belongings: her journal, her picture of her parents, who were at work when the apocalypse reached the house, and her book. She put everything but the knife in her backpack.
Ash looked around her room for something to use to keep the knife from falling off her waist. In the corner she spotted a small sash. She tied it around the knife, then around her waist.
Ash unlocked the door of her room, then ran down the stairs and out of her house, only to be confronted by a mob of zombies. Ash screamed for help, but she feared it was too late.

Jason was just about to speak to the stranger when a rancid smell hit his nose. Turning he spotted a hoard of zombies. "Shit" he said. He quickly looked at the stranger "if you want to live I suggest getting off this roof and running with me, or away. Alone, these things are harmless, but together they will rip you to shreds like a lawnmower through grass." Jason turned and slid off the roof onto another, lower, section of the roof about 8 feet below him. He didn't look back to see if the man was following or not. For his sake he wished he was. He stopped for a second and looked at the ground before jumping off the roof. Discarding his torch midair he landed in a large bush. It broke his fall, but didn't completely shield him. He drew back a breath a second after he landed as pain exploded out of his shoulder. Not looking at the injury, he got up and sped to the gas station. He moved as fast as he could with his injury. As soon as he was at the station he ripped his jacket off and hissed in pain. Quickly looking over his shoulder, he saw that it was dislocated. Not knowing how to fix this Jason looked at Wisp and Chris and heaved out "Does. Anyone know how. To relocate this?" He got off his knees and crept closer for someone to inspect his shoulder. Once again, he whipped around as a shrill cry cut through the air. It sounded as if it was coming from the town down the road. Chris came over and whispered that to relocate it would cause a lot of pain. Jason told him to do it, and seconds later more pain shot up and down his arm as Chris shoved his arm back into place. After a second the pain left, Jason looked up to the hoard. He could see it clearly now, what terrified him the most was the sheer size of the force. He squinted, was there a yellow zombie in front of all the rest? Jason dismissed this and focused on making sure the band of survivors lived past the hoard.

Ash tried to get past the zombies, but they had her surrounded. She slashed weakly at the closest one, but it only got her a tiny slash, and she almost got bit. She managed to dodge a few bites, and got through about a row of them. She shrieked in terror as about five of the zombies descended onto her. She just barely made it out of the pile. She didn't get bit, but her jeans where ripped, and she scraped her knee in the process. Ash once again cried for help, but she knew it was too late. Unless they where very close by, she would probably be dead by the time anyone got there. The only other way she would make it out was if she got very lucky. Still, she would try her best to escape.
