Introduction

Deep within the castle walls lies the portal to other worlds, also earth-like, and if you pass through the portal, you find yourself in another part of the castle, yet on a different planet. This is the only way of space travel, there are no remaining fossil fuels or nuclear fuels. Society has reverted to feudalism. The remnants of ancient technologies are guarded and maintained carefully, because they cannot easily be rebuilt. Everything is recycled and re-used. Heat comes from burning wood, or from the sun. All electricity comes from renewal sources. Technology is rare, very expensive, and controlled by feudal families.

Toggle Rules

There are no magical creatures, nor aliens, only humans and normal animals. There are very limited uses of robotics and artificial intelligence, mostly behind the scenes, for example the Castle Door or the Castle Knights (robots in suits of armor), but everything has a medieval feel and style, instead of techno-modern. Laser weapons are known as wands, for example. There are no plastics or heavy industry remaining. All power is from renewable sources. There are no remaining reserves of oil, gas or nuclear fuels.
