Take it do I, knowing in full well, that all things end and that I take this to slow the unyielding force of ending. - Trained and practiced in the use of Varden, Ardenian, and Sekhmet equipment and most craft.
- Modified to jack into a ship or vehicle's systems to pilot the vessel via direct mental input.
- Exceptionally fit and strong, with high endurance and extreme fortitude.
- Exceptionally trained and practiced in hand-to-hand combat, both unarmed and with bladed and blunt weapons.
- Exceptional reflexes bordering on precognition.
- Good computer systems infiltrator, hacker.

Abilities:

-- Ond/Ond Stal: Ond is in essence the culmination of the potential physical, mental, and spiritual essence of a conscious entity in excess to what that entity needs to survive. Ond Stal is the physical transplanar manifestation of said essence in the form a semi-transparent plasma or solid surface. It can be used for physical defense and as a weapon to cut the physical, mental, and spiritual essence of another entity. It can be held in transitive stasis and it is commonly represented as a brilliant white plasmatic fluid that emits dim light and little to no heat.

-- Legacy: If measured by the standards of a human a descendant of Arden and Eluv that has reached adulthood would not fall on that mortal scale of measure. The race measures far beyond human capability for both physical and mental condition/aptitude. Ardenians recover extraordinarily quickly from injury and negative status effects. They are a hardy people; physically, mentally, and spiritually resilient. Ardenians are immortal unless cut down by the swords of war, famine, or pestilence.

Descendants of Arden and Eluv are considered outsiders. Their spirit, body, and will are merged into one coherent instance. In this respect they are much like other celestial or demonic entities. Ardenians can not be resurrected, trapped in containers meant for the spirit, or animated after death. Ardenians are extremely resistant to effects that try to drain or manipulate their spirit. The only exception to this rule is the Varshar pact when and if performed shortly after death.

Ardenians are naturally psionic and have the ability to manipulate the environment with the fortitude of their mind and the force of their will. The truly exceptional are capable of matching wits, brawn, and speed with outsiders.

-- Universal Echos: The descendants of Arden and Eluv recall the journey of their lives in past universal occurrences. An Ardenian can anticipate the immediate future but because of the branching nature of time this can not be done with any great amount of accuracy.

The nature of this innate ability allows even a very young child of this race to accrue a vast store of knowledge while providing a backdrop of wisdom to utilize such. This innate ability also allows an Ardenian to recall the immediate past in perfect detail. Due to this ability an Ardenian’s mental statistics are not based on their age or apparent level of experience.

-- Lightning Coil: The ability to move a limb or on rare occasions a very short distance at speeds that rival lightning(literally). Moving at such speeds is dangerous and often causes injury to the body. To help prevent injury a technique harness and armor is often worn. It will come at no surprise then that flash stepping and swift dexterous movement of the body is within the bounds of this race's abilities.

Weapons & Equipment:

-- Lancer VP14, Assault Rifle: The lancer is a magazine-fed, short-to-mid range weapon offering semi-automatic, three charge burst, and fully automatic fire. Charged plasma munitions are pumped into a cyclotron that converts the plasma into a highly lethal bolt before it is expelled from the chamber. Upon impact with the target, the magnetic field surrounding the bolt collapses, venting superheated plasma onto the contact point. The Lancer can also be fitted with a number of different attachments to include a grenade launcher, different scopes, and other attachments. It can be fielded with a number of different hybrid munition types. Hybrid weapons are extremely effective against both shield and armor based defense systems because of the extreme heat and kinetic force issued with each impact. The VP14 uses both capacitor cells and hybrid ammunition magazines.
-- Nova VP8: Close range combat knife that uses hyper-vibrations and heat to easily cut through solid steel and many much harder substances. The VP8 uses capacitor cells loaded at the bottom of the grip but these seldom need to be changed out unless the knife is used excessively. The blade itself is constructed of an adamant core surrounded by vibranium, with a diamondine edge.
-- Arc VP12, Sidearm: A short-to-med ranged phaser pistol that easily bypasses most shield based defense systems and applies electromagnetic and thermal damage to armor based systems. It also has some weak atomic destabilization properties like disruptors. The beam fired by this pistol can easily cut through most conventional armor and cause massive heat damage to tougher stuff. The pistol has two settings that allow for continuous fire or pulse fire. The VP12 requires no ammo but does use up capacitor cells that are loaded at the top of the weapon above the grip. The continuous fire mode causes these capacitor cells to deplete much more swiftly and can potentially damage the weapon if done too frequently.
-- Myrkr VP101 (First shown - left to right), PDS: The Myrkr personal defense system is primarily used by snipers and reconnaissance soldiers. This armor uses primarily shield based defensive systems. It does enhance the wearer’s physical attributes as well as their reaction time but not as much as other armors. The user’s senses are enhanced to a staggering degree. Among the additions that are common to all Varden personal armors is an advanced cloaking device that renders the wearer all but undetectable. The short range teleportation system allows for near instantaneous transportation provided the wearer has line of sight with the desired destination and as long as a Varden capital ship is within a range of seven astronomical units. Advanced sensors allow the wearer to more easily detect other cloaked entities. The self-contained and adaptive filtration system of all Varden personal defense systems coupled with the drop system allows a wearer to enter an atmosphere or drop from high altitude and low orbit to arrive safely on the surface of a terrestrial planet. Most Varden personal defense systems are powered by a capacitor core that is recharged by the wearer's own bio-current. Some larger or more power hungry units come equipped with a micro cold fusion reactor.
-- EGO (Environmental Guardian Online): A symbiotic neuro-muscular bionetic implant, EGO alters its host at the genetic level, providing encyclopedic heads-up intelligence, while simultaneously unlocking and managing corporeal-maximization, or EGO Powers. Many Varden personnel utilize EGO which provides the user with four short timed psionic like abilities that can be used on the fly and with very little concentration. Those abilities are blur, cloak, decoy, and overcharge. EGO sharpens the senses, provides easy communication between members in the same solar system, provides access to a database of knowledge, a heads up display, and an assistant AI among other small perks.

Whisper picked her way down the street while hugging her arms about herself. She kept her head down as she moved, avoiding other pedestrians as they passed her on the sidewalk. The hour was late enough that there weren't more than a few, but each one had her hugging her arms tighter about herself.

These streets weren't safe for Aschen these days, though had they ever been? And since when did she start identifying herself among their ranks. When she donned the uniform? When she took up residence on Langara? When she took up arms for the Empire? She couldn't seem to pinpoint the exact moment and it troubled her.

Rubbing her arms as if cold, she veered off to cut across the street into the Wing City Gardens. They were largely abandoned for the night and would provide her some measure of privacy as she picked her way across the city.

A good looking man sat on a park bench. He was wearing jeans, boots, and a white tank top. As Whisper got into the gardens the man spoke. "Feeling self-conscious or are you just worried about some random act of violence? The WCPD has been stretched pretty thin." He stood. "Whisper isn't it?"

Whisper hesitated as the man addressed her by name. She turned her head towards him, uncertainty prevalent upon her thoughts.

"What do you want?" she asked finally.

It was unlikely this man was here by chance, though that he had named her by Whisper, rather than Jacquelyn led her to believe he knew her only be reputation. Part of her urged her to just keep walking, but part of her hesitated.

"I have a thing for pretty blind women.", he said and started to approach her. "Can't let an Aschen operative walk from here all the way back to her Admiral all alone. You are liable to meet someone that is less inclined to keep their word than the Varden."

"And yet you care about the safety, of one?" she asked. She rubbed her arm again.

"It makes you wonder why," she added, echoing his own words back at him. She turned her head away as she let her senses brush across the man. She couldn't read minds, only emotions, but the emotions that lay behind a man's words were often more telling than the words themselves.

His face took a perturbed look. "It is a grave slight in our culture to read the thoughts and emotions others without asking for permission. To answer your question, A Warden fights for the welfare of all." Aaric offered her a brief emotional glimpse of restrained hostility mixed with suspicion directed at Jacquelyn.

"You might have better luck asking me not to breath," she remarked. "I don't choose to feel the things I feel." She shook her head before moving to continue on her way.

"I have somewhere to be."

Well, not really. But she shouldn't be here.

"You don't need to be somewhere Jacquelyn but I am not about to try and stop you from leaving.", he said and shook his head. "Such a love hate relationship, you and the Aschen." He turned and started to walk away. "Peace.", he said and threw a peace sign with his right hand as he walked away.

The door to Stryfe's office would open quickly, a tall woman in heavy black armor standing aside to let her leader's guests in.

Stryfe was seated behind her desk as usual, a flock of young men and women in suits around her. "Tell Sonia we'll throw money at her if she can get it working." Stryfe told the young people.

"Take a seat!" She called out to her guests, "Okay, roaches, scatter." She said, shooing off her assistants. The armored at the door waiting until they were all out before shutting the door.

John Rosenthal nodded. "I am sure. The Varden are here at least as long as it will take to see the mandate completed. Introductions are in order and then down to business." He motioned to Vena. "Fleet Admiral Vena Kenshi in command of the Varden Expeditinary Theater in SOL.", he said before motioning to Aaric. "Admiral Aaric Arland, second in command of the VET in SOL. The conversation is being conferenced in with Admiral Rye Apis, second in command of the Varden Expeditionary Fleet currently at a location in deep space." He motioned to his own chest. "John Rosenthal, councilmen.

He continued on. “To get things started we have to know what you know of us so we can fill in the blanks.”

"I know very little of you." Stryfe told John, "You're a big player in our universe, though." Stryfe said to the man. "I know you seem to be just, fair. You ride on the moral high ground, as opposed to those who prefer the darker shades of grey."

"The universe is so big that no one really has a right to say they are a big player. The Varden police two galaxies on the other side of the observable universe, observable universe relative to Terra. Our first encounter with Terra and the Aschen happened more or less than a year ago...", John said and then was interrupted by Aaric.

"That may be true." Stryfe said, "Anyways, I want to get down to business." The Invictus leader told John, "I'm trying to create a better future for Terra. You're meeting with me, so you must want the same, correct? Do you want the same? Can you be trusted?"

"A stronger Terra, with all of it's activity, could help people such as yourself in the future as allies."

Aaric Arlan spoke after Stryfe. “It was a year and two months ago by the calendars of Terra. A covert operations frigate picked up a distress call going on a subspace beacon. Your planet was being glassed by the Aschen.”, he said and then turned to John. “Sorry councilmen.” John just motioned for him to continue. “Shortly after there was a council hearing. Austin Marshal of the TIB attended.”

John Rosenthal nodded. "The mandate that myself and the other council members put down had the goals to defend Terra from enemies both foreign and domestic and to assist in the reformation, organization, and re-establishment of the Terran National Government when needed. "Indeed." The Persian mercenary said, "So, even with the change in regime, you're still on board or are you here to make sure I'm not some evil overlord waiting to happen?" Stryfe asked.

"I can assure you, I'll be a just and noble ruler." Stryfe joked.

John Rosenthal appeared to be caught off guard with what Stryfe just said. It took him a moment to think of a proper response. "Are you some evil overlord?” Aaric chuckled. “While we have no influence over the type of government the people of Terra choose to implement I would hope that any leader or government that is established would have some form of checks and balances to help dull any abuse of power."

John folded his hands. “We need to know what the Terran people and you need to establish a fair and strong government that can offer some resistance to outside powers that may try again to annex it in the future.”

"A wall of big, intimidating people with big guns and a lot of manpower." Stryfe told John, "I don't know if you've noticed, but a lot of the ones who would try to force their way onto Terra and into it's government tend to back off when faced with opposition. Opposition that can do some harm." The Invictus leader said.

"Unfortunately, Terra right now and in the past can put up a good fight, but in the end the result was a loss. Usually, by way of a government who would curl up into a ball at the slightest hint of trouble."

"We have the confidence, the charisma, to keep the people uplifted. But, we need to back up those words."
