“ The freelance knight walked the stallion near the building, keeping a hand curled about the reigns and his other rested on the beasts snout. "I will only be awhile," he told the creature. Speaking to a horse was normally the act of a lonely traveler, but within the eyes of the Clydesdale glinted a hint of intelligence. Looping the reigns about a post, he stepped inside the bar without turning once to look over his steed. No, the creature deserved more credit than what was usually offered. ”

“ The man that approached the counter at first may have come off as an archer. The bow slung across his body and the light armor he wore would have suspected so, but then there was a long sword tapping rhythmically against the side of his leg. His maroon hair splayed from his head like tiny feathers and the brief parts on his arm where his skin was bare where his armor didn't cover, on one of his arms was a mark or tattoo. It twisted, turned, and dipped in intricate designs. Once at the bar, he hailed the bartender and got himself a mug of mead, and ordered for a bowl of stew to keep his stomach hearty. ”

Aden Torindega stirred his spoon about the loaded soup, pushing around chunks of beef, carrots, and other assorted vegetables. If he had had more coin, he wouldn't have mind a bath, but being a freelancer, he carried a tight budget that required that he only spend his coin in emergencies. Hygiene was never an emergency when traveling through lush forests. There was always a river or stream to bathe in, and could leave a man smelling of earth.

“ There was the clatter of his spoon, leaping up and down in his bowl as he ate hungrily. Thick broth threatened to ooze from the corner of his mouth and with a quick whisk of his tongue, it was cleaned up. Just out of the corner of his eye, he noticed something square enter his peripherals and recognized it to be a napkin. "Thanks," he replied, and raised the bowl to his mouth, shoveling down the rest of its hot contents. ”

“ The napkin was gratefully used. After setting down his bowl, he wiped his mouth, folding the napkin as he went so as not to wipe his face with the same area. Stuffing it away for later for even the smallest necessity was valuable, he soaked his palette with the mug of honey and lemon that pleasantly rolled down his throat. With all the smell of dragons for dragons always carried a stink odor that even a human could pick up, he was pleased that no one had noticed that his light armor was comprised of scales from the hide of a black dragon, which he had hunted down on one of his hired missions. He closed his eyes and nursed his drink. Fortunately, indeed. ”

“ The knight decided to take him and his mug to the back of the room, where he could sort through his travel supplies. He approached one of the tables and removed the satchel from around his hip, setting it on the table as he loosened the buckles and undid the straps. He removed several small things. Tin bowls, candles, matches, dried food, maps, coal, and other trinkets. It was the buffing stone he was looking for that he curled snuggly into his palm. Grasping the hilt of his sword with his free, he yanked it free from its sheath, the loud hiss of the steel releasing making his skin crawl as it did when he'd use it for an actual purpose. ”

“ He turned his chair and sat down, raising his left leg to four across his right. He rested the end of the blade against the sole of his boot, boots he had pilfered off a thief that he tried to rob him. Apparently, the thief didn't expect to have his own deeds done back to him. Placing the stone flat against the edge of his blade, he moved it along the sword carefully. The soothing hiss of the rock moving along the ancient sword being a melody for his meditation. ”

“ "Curses..." the knight muttered openly. "Curses can mean danger to be rid of," he warned Lily. Though his warning was kind, he also sounded knowledgeable on the subject. ”

Aden Torindega eyes flicked to Ices briefly as she crept close to his table. Her very being didn't seem threatening, but the look of interest that masked her face, not towards him but his things made him feel wary.

“ The knight was quiet for a moment when the question was asked. His hand steadily moving the stone up his sword. "It depends on the seriousness of the curse to determine if it can be removed or not, and to what magnitude it can be removed. During my travels, I have seen cursed ones go as far to make a deal with the devil just to be normal. If a curse was ever that bad, then it would be wiser if that someone learned to cope with their affliction." ”

“ "No. I, fortunately, have never been cursed before. I am warded from curses," he explained. He stopped to inspect the edge on his blade with half-lidded eyes. "I know of curses because I get out and I travel the world. I learn more than the average person who just sits in a bar their entire life." ”

Aden Torindega overheard the talk of giving a dragon gold. Obviously, they weren't real dragons. Possibly pseudo-beasts. "A dragon doesn't loot treasure for a dragon's tears and droppings are the jewels which men seek, and they lie on a bed of their own droppings," he enlightened. "Everyone chances a meeting with evil. Also reading is another method of learning. You should try it."

“ "Smells like the den of a lizard in here," he muttered softly to himself. Once one dragon showed, there was always a sudden congregation. It was the same for vampires and werewolves. He considered burning one of the scented candles he had. ”

Aden Torindega decided to put away his forgings. He tossed the stone back into his satchel and flipped his sword around, resting the tip on the edge of his sheath before sliding it in. He grasped one of the candles on his table, a green scented one that smelled of sage, and took took two flint rocks, striking a spark to light the wick. "Depends on what you're trading," he replied to Ices.

“ Aden looked closely at the stones she randomly coughed up. His brows rose in surprise, having not expected such behavior. "What do you want for them?" he asked with interest. With stones like that he could get enough money to allow him a year's worth of rations. It was the value of the gems that made him wonder that instead of trading she may have been trying to buy something off him instead. ”

“ Aden glanced back to his table, watching Ices poke at his tin bowls. She wanted those? Was she serious? His brows remained high on his forehead in surprise. He didn't wish to swindle the ignorant girl, such being the kind knight he was could deprive him of special gain. "You know...you can buy as many of these tin bowls as you want from a merchant in the city with the stones you have. In fact, you can buy anything you want if you have more." Aden glanced to Lily. "For a seven-year old girl you know awfully a lot. I don't sense in naivety in you to say that you're actually a child. Let me ask you a question. What do demons do with souls? What purpose would they have for them? They don't just take them for that would be to easy. A soul is the last thing a demon wants." ”

“ Aden blinked and a slow smile curled at the corners of his lips. He was rich! Wooo! Keeping those bouts of excitement within him so as not to come off as rude. "Well thank you. You're welcome to have them. I can't say I have anything else that might interest you. I only often carry what I need." He slid the gems toward him and left the tin bowls on the table for her to take. ”

Issachar Remaeus looks at the latest news and smiles, nodding ever so slightly. He knew this time would come, and so he began to make his way to the door.

Ma'am, the bill?
he asked, pretending to scribble on a sheet of paper.

“ The feliyan prince glanced around Northern Main Street. A brawny man standing about 5’10”, he looked normal except for a few unusual features. Niku sported a white tail that matched the color of his pearlescent spiky hair. His eyes were heavily dilated in the low nighttime lighting and he wore a suit of light alien metal armor. The fellow had been in to explore part of the city and then returned to the spaceport to get his his ship so he could travel more quickly. Having morphed into its hoverbike form, he came riding down the street at a slow pace, glancing here and there to look at all the sights the city had to offer. At last he came to what looked like a popular bar. Scanning the sign with his translator, he discovered that it was a bar.

He parked his hoverbike and hopped off. Then he opened a compartment and pocketed a few gold coins before closing it again. Perhaps there would be food available at the bar. There appeared to be plenty of people out and about in the area, aliens of different types here and there. The universe surely had a great deal of diversity and he could not wait to discover more of it. Niku entered the bar and glanced around to assess his surroundings. ”
