Aewisp's Story

Aewisp walked with her face angled towards the sky down the well worn path. The weather was refreshing, but it usually was for her. Stopping to watch a bird take off from it's nest, she smiled. Aewisp couldn' fly, but she could do something almost as neat. Breathing in and raising her wrists, she drew in the air around her, and with a flick of her wrists caused it to puff. It gathered underneath her, causing her dark blue feathery gossamer gown to flutter. Exhaling, and twirling her wrists, she suggested the air forward, causing it to whirls around her and carry her forth. She looked up to the path in front of her (instead of the gap of air between her and the ground) and stopped, the air blowing out underneath her and dropping her on the ground. Did that person just summon a puddle?

Her eyes widened as the girl suddenly grasped an ice ball (which came from nowhere, mind you) and hurtled it at her. She had only a split second to react, having had been caught off guard by her presence to begin with. Aewisp's training kicked in, and she ducked into a crouch, one leg curled beneath her and the other simultaneously shooting out the side of her gown. Simultaneously, she whipped an arm over her head, which was followed by a speeding trail of wind, meant to instantly destroy anything that came in it's path. But there was no need for that, because she opened her eyes (yes, she flinched) to the ice ball melting rapidly into a puddle.

The girl muttered apology, as Aewisp slowly pulled herself back into a stand. Straightening her posture, she narrowed her eyes at the girl. Whats up? What's up? That's what you say after attacking someone?

"I should blast you up into the atmosphere for that, and let you fall to your death," She said quietly, her words carrying on the wind as an eerie hiss. Folding her arms across her chest, she cast her gaze into the woods.

Temper flaring, she cast an arm out, sweeping it before her body. A gust of air came from nowhere, tossing her hair and clothes wildly in the sudden wind. It frisked her off the ground, and Aewisp leaned forward and lunged. As she wooshed her arms downward, the wind billowed behind her, surging her forward towards the girl with the glowing palm. Her own eyes, in turn, seemed to take on the color of...well... nothing. Her pupils and corneas had vanished, and she appeared to be flying in the wind.

Stopping with her face but three inches from the girls, she summoned the air to billow behind her, sweeping dust and leaves up in the whirlwind.
"You do not want to mess with me, little girl," Playfully, she whispered under her breath. A small, but malicious smile crept across her face, and her white eyes seemed to almost glow.
"I could destroy you."

whirled the wind around her, prepared to catch the ice up in the currents like a hurricane. She spun wildly, bringing her toe to the ground and pulling in her arms and leg as she twirled, causing the air to dense around the ice shards it caught.

As the wind died down in ever the slightest, she could hear the girls snark. With a small smirk, she threw her arms forward, sending a streamlined current carrying a hundred sharp ice crystals straight at the girls face, while the rest of the hurricane burst up behind her, sending ice chips flying everywhere.

Damnit! Aewisp scowled at the melting ice, her eyes flashing at the girls words. Drawing up the wind around her, she listened as the girl spoke nonsense. Her eyes narrowed as her opponents closed, and she thickened the current that was pulsing in a ring around her feet.
As the ice ball came flying at her, Aewisp flung an arm into the air, shooting the ring up towards the sky, being trailed by a wall of surging wind, carrying dust, small stones, twigs, and leaves with. It caught the ice ball and blasted it to pieces, carrying them with the debris.

With a small hop, she was caught up in the center of the small tornado, and came bursting out the top. Levitating on the currents, she called down to the child.

"Obviously you misjudge, child!" Aewisp snarked, stomping down on the edge of the tornado and redirecting it, sending it (debris and all) in a fluid blast towards the girl. Hmph, eat shit!

Ugh! This child is skilled, yes, but more annoying than anything! She glowered as the tornado died down at the contact with the water, seething as her toes touched the ground. Gathering up more gusts for ammo, she observed the sphere of ice. Didn't look too heavy, she thought, wickedly raising an eyebrow.

"You do realize that water ruins tornado's right?" She's laughing for now!
With a twirl of her arms, she danced forward, arcing a foot up behind her over her head. As she did so, a small stream of air shot across the ground like a ribbon, and hit the ice sphere with a small crack. Not a moment passed before dust, leaves, and small rocks exploded from the base of the sphere, as Aewisp angled her leg and spun like a ballerina. The air whipped around the ice sphere, carrying it into the air and twenty feet off the ground as Aewisp wound down and cast her arms out, aiming her palms towards the ice sphere in the air.

"Ice weathers," she whispered, turning her hands like she was turning knobs, as the wind carrying debris whirled in all different directions around the ice sphere, rapidly tightening it's circumference to chip away at the ice.

Aewisp was enraged at this point. With a slight shake, the particles of water flew from her hair and garments, being carried off of her by bits of air. Flinging her arms downward, she sucked air from outside the ice walls in, then throwing them out to her sides cast the pressurized air outwards, exploding the ice walls into mist. With no hesitation, she flung her hands in the direction of the girl, the wind carrying the mist in her direction like a straight hurricane. See her melt something already melted, she thought, as she focused the hundred mile an hour winds at the girl.

Aewisp turned just in time to see an ice ball whipping at her, and evaded it just in time by dropping to her stomach. Rolling on her side, she cast away the second ball with a gust of air, and the same with the next, but the third came a bit too quickly and she pulled a ripple of air to carry her swiftly sideways, as she narrowly evaded the next two balls. Frustrated, she cast a wall of wind up before her, pushing a part of it towards the ice ball. The two elements connected, and a shockwave ripple of air dissipated around the ice sphere, stopping it cold. Pushing herself vertical by sending a gust towards the ground, she rose skyward, torpedoing air around her with the rise of her arms.

Aewisp flicked away the dagger, whipping her hair around as she followed the girl with her eyes. but just as currents were circulating her hands, she felt the ice around her neck. Faltering, she allowed the gusts of air to diminish. Damnit, she hated giving in. Closing her eyes, her frame took the texture of cloud, and the ice ring clattered to the earth.

"I vow to slay you, Mortal," She sent the words whipping through the trees as she weaved through them in cloud form, before sending a rush of air towards the girl and swirling up over the treetops, making her escape.

Aewisp floated along on a gust of air, circumnavigating the forest. Today she did not feel so inclined as to actually stroll through the shade of the trees. The air was damp, a cooling mist against her skin. In her opinion, it was beautiful out. Gliding along a few feet from the ground, Aewisp allowed her mind to run away with thought. Scanning the forest border, her eyes slipped right over the figure that leaned against a stump. She was too far gone in her subconscious, moving along on a whirling gust of air.

Silently, the white haired woman carried on the wind lazily through the trees. She was enjoying the air as it caked around her, the thick scent of the forest a comfortable cushion. A small smile crept to her lips as she wafted down and settled in the roots of a large and gnarling tree.

A beautifully silent day indeed, just the recluse environment she sought.

The sound of another carried on the wind. Funny, she didn't think she saw anyone on her descent... No matter. Breathing deep, the white haired woman grew translucent. She was still there, of course, but slightly see through.

Oop! Slightly buoyant too she realized, grabbing at a root with a small giggle to stay grounded.

Gasping, Aewisp became completely visible again. For a moment there, she thought her life was in danger. But...No, the knife was a violin now, and it was playing beautiful music.

She smiled and sat again, looking up at the lady who played the violin. In the bushes, she could have sworn she heard a rustle...But there was nothing there.

Twirling her fingers, Aewisp began to call on the wind. It came through the trees in four soft streams, before whipping quickly around the hollows of wherever and making sound. She curled her fingers, and the whistle of the wind grew clearer, daintily harmonizing and accenting the violin's music.

Closing her eyes and resting her head back against the tree, Aewisp continued to conduct the wind to match the changing of the music. After a few moments, she would bring in her other hand, calling on the wind to produce deeper and more morose notes.

This wasn't the silence she had been looking for, but Aewisp didn't care. This was better.

Her hands froze as the last note was played, the winds stopping their harmonious howl.

"Yes, very much so," Aewisp offered the other woman a tight smile, before brushing her palms over her thighs and levitating to a stand. So it was a knife, just a magical one of some sort. Her eyes hungrily glanced at it, before returning to the eyes of the woman.

"Where does one acquire a blade like that?"

Taking in the sad tidbit of information, Aewisp nodded. She tucked the fun fact away in the back of her mind, forgetting for now about the magical blade.

"Aewisp," She pronounced her name delicately, with a hint of poise and an undertone of malice. "Being of the air, the wind, and the clouds..." Turning her focus directly into the other woman's eyes, she then said, "And who are you?"

Even as she spoke, Aewisp felt a change in the air. The pressures were moving, winds were carrying in that shouldn't be. She didn't need to look up to see that the clouds were amassing overhead, for the forest was growing darker by the second.

Cautiously, Aewisp followed Jade deeper down the tunnel. She wasn't sure she liked the sound of this, but someone may or may not be in trouble over there. Keeping her fingers extended and ready to call upon the air, Aewisp set herself on the ground.

"Strange indeed, if it was talking," She tiptoed up to the object, keeping her distance a bit.
"Are you going to touch it?"

"Of course," A smirk blew across her face, and she held it there for just a moment before continuing on.

"It's an hourglass. If you turn it over, the sand will all begin to sift it's way to the empty chamber. Once the empty chamber is filled, or the filled chamber emptied, it will signal that an hour has passed."

"He's a Jinni..." The air elemental almost didn't know how to react. Sure, she had read about these mysterious beings in books, heard a tale in passing, but...To encounter one? This was a day she was almost positive would never, ever happen.

Now to recall the proper protocol. With a sideways glance at Jade, Aewisp sent a dainty gust of air out with a curtsy.
