The Son of the Pharaoh was completely and utterly lost. He knew he was no longer in Egypt, no where near his future kingdom. He was walking along a path, striding purposely toward a massive gate that seemed to lead to a strange, walled city. What lay behind it he did not know, all that he knew was that as royalty he should have had nothing to fear. At least he was counting on his status as heir to protect him lest they incur the wrath of the gods.

Spinx stopped and looked down at the girl, wondering why she was dressed so strangely, and so pale. "Are you sick peasant?" he asked, stepping away from her, not wanting to catch some commoner's disease. He held his staff slightly in front of him as if to ward off the illness he perceived her to be carrying. This place was so strange.

"Then why are you so pale peasant?" he said, pointing at her with the crook of his staff. He wasn't answering any child's questions until he got answers for his own. That was what was important now, that and getting back to his kingdom. He had no brothers and without him the Dynasty his father had worked so hard to create would crumble.

Sphinx stepped back and was silent as he thought. He had no concept of alien life, to him the word meant foreigner which he probably was in this strange place he found himself in. "You natives are the strange ones." he said softly as he turned back to look at her.

Sphinx pushed her hand away. "How dare you attempt to lay hands on royalty?" he said, a bit of harshness creeping into his voice. He wasn't giving up his signs of authority, not in a place like this where he would need them to prove who he was and possibly to buy his passage home. He was of course from Earth, but with the culture barrier that was difficult to explain.

"You are not my betrothed, you have no right to lay your hands on me." he said, trying to sound harsh but the child's tears still affected him. Only the truly heartless would not be even a little moved by things like that. He didn't know how to comfort a child however and just stood there.

"My name is Anuktonokahmen." he said as he knelt down and leaned on his staff. Of course he thought the name would be easy for any one to pronounce, it was after all just a name and nothing too complex for where he came from. His voice was kinder this time, sorry that he had made the child cry.

"Back where?" he asked. He knew nothing of this Outer Space, that sounded like a courtyard of some kind, he didn't know that she meant something beyond Nut's back, that idea to him would have made no sense. He stood up then and looked back towards the city he had been approaching. "I need to see the Pharaoh here." he said.

"I am not from the sky though I have dreamed of travelling there." he said as he looked up when she pointed. This was a strange child, thinking foreigners came from the sky, what nonsense. He looked at the gate again. "No Pharaoh? Then who leads the people?" he asked.

"My father is Pharaoh and I am not from the sky, I am from Egypt." he said, looking her like she was crazy. The things she was saying made no sense to him. He knew children didn't always make sense but this was out there even for a child of her age.

"I am not from the sky, I do not live among the Gods though I will on day." he said as he looked at her, slowly coming to the conclusion that this child was stricken with some fever that robbed her of her sanity. "Take me to your father, maybe he knows this King you speak of."

Sphinx followed her, he didn't really have too much choice. As they walked he looked at the people and they looked at him, both thinking 'What are they wearing?' He stayed near her but not too close to her, keeping with his royal status.

"I will be fine, but it is a bit cool here, and there isn't much desert." he said, he found it so strange, before his world had been all sand and alabaster with some palm trees and green during the flood season.

"By Ra this place is strange." murmured the man who looked greatly out of place in his ancient Egyptian garb. Wearing nothing on his torso save for a large winged scarab necklace and arm bands he stood out, as well as with his white headpiece Egyptians were so known for. He was walking along in near silence, trying not to take the looks he was getting as meaning anything much.

The Pharaoh's son had been wandering rather aimlessly through the city for a few days now. He still didn't know where he was and the only person who had stopped to talk to him was a six year old girl who saw him as he entered the city. As he was looking around he found many of the people to be strangely pale with hair in wild colors, like this one before him who's hair was red, red, such a strange color for hair.

"You know of Egypt?" he asked, looking at her hand and not really understanding what she meant by holding it out like that. The little girl he had talked to thought he was an alien, kept asking where his spaceship was and what part of the sky he came from. "Also, why would I want you to bite?" he asked then, confused by that too.

Sphinx nodded, "So my people now rule all the earth." he said, clearly that was what he got out of what she said. That of course was the dream of many Pharaohs, he being the son of a Pharaoh he was no different. "I am Anuktonokahmen, son of the Pharaoh." he said, voice slipping easily into authority as only one who had known it all his life could do.

"You try waking up in a sarcophagus some time and see if that insolent humor is still present." he said, gripping his staff with his left hand. He was pretty sure he had died since that was where he woke up, wrapped in bandages and placed within a tomb. He had been in a panic when it first happened.

Sphinx looked down at his toned stomach only to be answered with a faint rumble at the thought of food, Gods he was hungry. "Indeed, food would be much appreciated." he said, while he had found he could speak the language hear he could not read it, the strange little symbols did not make sense to him at all.

"Anuktonokahmen." he said, following behind her, wondering just what in the Underworld a sandwich was. He had never heard of such a thing, they of course being an English invention. "Father always just called me Sphinx." he added. He had earned that for being a bit of a mystery to his parents as well as a bit mischievous.

"Where in the name of Ra am I? This place looks like the armies of the desert have swept it clean." the Prince muttered to himself as he walked. From time to time he would notice a large rat come too near him and strike at it with his staff. "Why can I not find my way back home?"

The Pharaoh's son continued to walk, intent on finding his way out of this maze of rundown buildings and stinking rot. Even if he had to return to that chaos they called a city where no one recognized the authority of their own royalty, or at least foreign royalty if he really wasn't in Egypt anymore.

Sphinx turned when he heard the other thing land behind him. "I bare you no ill will peasant creature, so leave me to my space." he said before turning around and walking again. What foolish thing would be stupid enough to attack royalty, surely no one around here.

"You dare challenge me monster?" Sphinx growled, turning to face the creature again, staff held at his side, ready to defend himself. Though he wasn't entirely sure what to do against this shapeless and seething mass of fluid.

Sphinx sidestepped and slapped at the tendril with his staff, just what was he fighting, a deranged minion of Set or something far worse? He really didn't like the idea of fighting unknown creatures, he used to have soldiers for that.
