Description

Name:David Ramirez
Image
Age:24
Gender:Male
Occupation: Dealer ship Auto technician. He also takes on less then legal jobs modifying whips for racers.

History:
David Is just an honest guy working as a mechanic out of college. He kept himself entertained and in shape while on the school football team as first string fullback. He lives a fairly comfortable life, friends, video games, has his own motorcycle, maybe a girl friend or two, nothing serious. He lives alone in a small apartment, his only family being his father, a sergeant first class in the Army. Growing up Army was an enjoyable experience for him, even though sometimes he'd be branded as kind of weird for knowing certain things, like how to make homemade smoke grenades or the exact model of the gun used in the movie they were currently watching. But he still managed to have a mostly happy life.

Equipment:
There are two things that Ramirez drags around wherever he goes:
1. His crowbar, usually tucked away in his waistband hidden by his shirt
and secondly
His pride and joy: The Custom built Prowler LSC 2025, custom built meaning he built it himself.

Into Gambits walked David, who took his place at the bar, yawning as he sat on a stool. Work had been busy, but it was just not that entertaining…standard oil changes and routine maintenance. He sighed.

While the pay at work was good….it seemed like there was an everlasting leech on his check, draining it dry in a week, every week. He needed more…side jobs, so to speak, which explained why he was in the most infamous establishment in all of Wing City. Surely there had to be racers who hung around here, trying to celebrate a win or forget a loss. Someone was bound to be looking for an edge, and he would be the one to give it to them.

ā€œI didn’t invite you along either.ā€ David said, eyes rolling. ā€œIn fact I am pretty sure I told you not to come here.ā€

Brittany Murphy…what an exhausting person she was…he didn’t know why he put up with her, although he knew it had to do with the fact they used to date, used to.

ā€œWhy are you here Brittany?ā€ he asked, ordering a beer from one of the tenders. ā€œDon’t you have school or practice or…something?ā€ He was practically pleading.

David just let her talk on and on, trying to distract himself by drinking his beer. What did he do to deserve such torture? Why did she insist on following him around? Didn’t she understand that he hadn’t exactly taken kindly to being cheated on? He thought he had made it pretty clear.

ā€œYour name is Brittany Murphy, Candy, is a pseudonym a stripper would use, and as such I refuse to use it.ā€ Oh he’d been more then clear on that, adamant in fact. Not once had the ridiculous word exited his mouth in the context of referring to her.

David stared at the shelves in front of him, allowing her to do whatever she wanted. He really wasn’t the controlling type, or maybe he was just apathetic. He almost yawned. He had to admit the first time she’d done this it had got him pretty flustered, but after a while he had gotten used to this sort of thing.

ā€œWell, if all your friends stab you in the back you want me to join them?ā€ It was such a parental answer, perhaps that was what he was dealing with, a child.

And on the subject of children….

ā€œI told you to stop thinking that kind of stuff. Even if I did want to have a family with you I’m not stable economically yet. Financially I just can’t support a family right now.ā€

David drained his beer and quickly ordered another…..and an aspirin. He set the empty glass down, waited for Brittany to finish, and looked at her sternly.

ā€œNo.ā€ He said flatly.

ā€œNo, I am not going to get a desk job doing something I don’t understand or enjoy. No, I am not allowing you to move in with me. No, you are not remodeling my apartment. And for the umpteenth time, No, I am not giving you money.ā€

David sighed…

Such a headache…

ā€œYou can stay until you find a new place but you are not going to be remodeling anything. And you’ll have to disappoint your friends.ā€

Hell if he’d tip anyone for making his life harder then it needed to be.

ā€œAnd Brittany, I’m pretty sure I’ve told you time and time again we aren’t dating anymore, you ruined that when you decided to sleep around.ā€

ā€œNo Brittany, it’s not as simple as, ā€˜a little mad’, and it’s not in the past. I’m not going to date someone I can’t trust, and that’s final. What you did was disrespectful to me, and it’s not something I’m going to just forget.ā€

Hell she was lucky he still talked with her, never mind helped her with her bills….her very….very expensive bills…..

ā€œI’ll help you look for a place but I’m not moving in with you, but before that, you need to find yourself a place to work. I’m not going to be fronting the bill for you much longer you know.ā€

ā€œDammit Brittany,ā€ He set his drink down and stood up quickly. That was the one thing that always got him. But it was probably not how she intended, it just really pissed him off. ā€œIf you cared that much you wouldn’t have done it in the first place.ā€

He faced her with a stern look, glaring for a moment before he brought his hand up to his face with a sigh, holding the bridge of his nose as he tried to calm down.

ā€œI need to use the bathroom.ā€ He muttered as he went to move past her.

The growl of his bike as he drove it down main street brought David some peace…although it was moot when he remembered just who it was clutching onto him as they sat behind him.

Brittany had gone and done something annoying again…and that wasn’t even the worse part. She was really driving this whole ā€œForgive me, I’m sorryā€ thing into him…he just didn’t buy it. As soon as he gave in no doubt he’d find her with some guy in his bed….again.

Jeez, and to top things off she decided to move in to his apartment? He barely had enough cash to feed himself this week, how the hell would he be able to pay for enough groceries for the both of them?

As the bike came to a stop at a red light, David found himself shaking his head. So very troublesome….

And there was that voice again, nagging his ear off as usual….David rolled his eyes and tried to ignore her.

Thankfully, he’d heard the rather humorous comments being thrown his way. He looked up to see the group of hover bikers slightly above him.

Hoverbikes…sure he’d known of them. He’d worked on them on many occasion actually, the complex systems required for the gravity wells needed periodic maintenance, unless you wanted to fly into the side of a building.

He would admit they had their advantages, for one, demonstrated by the young woman with brightly colored hair and who was…quite attractive in David’s opinion, they could be armored yet still relatively mobile. Secondly, while they were inferior to conventional motorbikes in terms of maneuverability, because they were in the air they weren’t quite as good at sharp turns, they didn’t need to make such turns often, they could just go over whatever was in their way.

Third, well, it was disputable. A lot of his co-workers testified that they were faster, but David and his more down to earth acquaintances disagreed entirely. He heard the phrase ā€œWaste of metalā€ and smirk. He’d built this bike from scratch himself….he would not allow it to be underestimated.

With a smirk hidden by his helmet, David revved his engine, the bike in turn, roared it’s response.

Unlike the others, David didn’t talk big, hell he didn’t even talk. He put his foot on the ground and looked over his shoulder at Brittany, if offering her a chance to dismount. He wouldn’t force her to participate, but he wasn’t going to let her whining prevent him from having a bit of fun.

Whether or not she got off, David looked over at Tora. A wink or a smile would be pointless seeing as he wore his helmet that obstructed his face from view, so instead he gave a slight incline of his head to get the message across, before looking to Jack.

David held up a hand, his palm facing the fellow biker, all five digits extended outward. The first at five lights, it was a good quarter mile away.

When he relayed the stipulation, David returned his attention to the street ahead. He revved the engine a couple more times as he waited for the light to turn green, leaning forward slightly in anticipation. Oh they were so confident, but David had faith in his machine.

At the green light David released the brake and pulled his leg off the ground, hitting the throttle as fast as he could. His back tire screeched for a split second before the bike lurched forward, shooting down the street. David didn’t like this, the screeching was a sign of weight on the back end of his chassis….

Well he wasn’t going to give up that easily. He lowered his body against the bike’s frame and kept his eyes locked on the road ahead, weaving in and out of lanes to avoid slow moving traffic. None of them would see, but he was wearing the widest grin. He couldn’t hear Brittany over the roar of the engine….if only he could always do this…

David didn’t notice what was going on around him only noticing the nose of one of their bikes pull ahead of his during the last stretch. He’d lost by maybe two feet, and as David applied his brakes, letting the rear wheel go into slide, he sighed and rolled his eyes.

The bike over steered for a bit, skidding along sideways, until coming to a stop, leaving a long thing black line snaking along the road to mark it’s path. When his foot came to rest on pavement, after pulling the bike over to the side of the road of course, David removed his helmet and tousled his hair with his right hand. Well…it was fun, but his pride was still sore from not completely winning. He looked around, wondering to hear the results of the quick competition.

David just stared flatly at Brittany as she ranted at him. ā€œBrittany. You don’t have any right to tell me what and what not to do. If you don’t like it, leave. I don’t care.ā€ He left it at that, and like he had said, he didn’t care how she took it.

He turned to look at the woman who approached them and smiled at her.

ā€œWell, next time I’ll make sure to prove you wrong. I know a few tricks myself, maybe I can show you a few sometime.ā€

Yes, he was flirting, right in front of Brittany, he wanted to.

Finally he glanced down at the victor and grinned. ā€œThis time.ā€

ā€œRookie?ā€ David smiled back with an arched brow. ā€œI’m being underestimated, ah…it stingsā€¦ā€ He grinned and clutched his chest jokingly with a hand, enjoying himself….

…until Brittany decided to put her two sense in. His arm shot up, throwing the one she had around him off, and tilted his head away from her face. ā€œDon’t. Call me that. It’s annoying.ā€

He glared at her for a moment before turning to Ace. ā€œYou might want to take a look at your rear gyro, it seems off by a good three quarters of an inch, response time is a little stalled.ā€

He looked over at Jack and shrugged. ā€œHover bikes are good and all but most models get a bit unstable at high speeds if they aren’t maintained properly and regularly. Their complexity isn’t exactly user, or racer friendly….oh and if you want her, go ahead and take her I don’t mind.ā€

Then down to Gian. ā€œheh well, let’s see you say that when I’m not lugging around dead weight with me.ā€

ā€œYeah it’s me.ā€ David yawned as he entered, hanging his jacket by the door in the small apartment. There really wasn’t a lot of space, it wasn’t that it was messy, the confines were simply small. David rented the place because it was cheap not cause it was luxurious, he had no clue he was going to be having a roommate.

He walked past the door to the bedroom and into the Kitchen/Living room. The two rooms were actually one, similar to a studio. He poked his head into the small half empty refrigerator and pulled out a bottle of water.

David wasn’t poor, he simply had other priorities. Most of his pay check went into saving accounts and investments. And half of the money he earned doing mods always went into his stocks.

David drank his water and rolled his eyes as he listened to her. ā€œWhat I do with other women is my business.ā€ He said as he walked into the room. ā€œI apologize for calling you dead weight but that’s the only thing I’m apologizing for.ā€

He thought for a moment on a proper response to her last question. ā€œIf you were really worthless, do you think I’d be doing half of the stuff I do for you?

David’s brow narrowed and he put the bottle of water down on the night stand. He was not the kind of guy who’d raise his voice at a woman, or hurt her in anyway, but he’d get his point across.

ā€œYou were the one who screwed up Brittany. Not me.ā€ He said coldly. He hated it when she said that…because he wanted to believe her…he just couldn’t trust her anymore.

ā€œHow do you think I felt?ā€

ā€œIt isn’t as simple as saying you’re sorry and everything gets better Brittany. I put my trust in you and you disregarded it. Not only did you disrespect me, but you betrayed me. It’s going to take a whole lot for you to earn back the trust you lost. It’s not that I don’t believe you, it’s that I have to be skeptic about it.ā€

David stared at her, shaking his head with a disappointed smirk. He was mad now. ā€œSo you cheating on me is my fault? I don’t call you Candy because I respect you. You’re the one who insist on sounding like a slut, and you know what fine, be one. I don’t care anymore.ā€

Maybe he had said more then he should but he had been holding back for quite some time now. He shook his head again, holding a hand in the air signaling for her not to say anything. He said nothing more either, and left the room, walking down the hall to get his jacket.

David turned around and faced her, arms crossed over one another. ā€œAlright then, explain it to me. Explain the circumstances that led to me finding you with him in my bed. What, did you two decide to help me with my laundry?ā€

He was tired of this, but he’d listen, maybe then it could be done with.

David watched her with his expression unchanged. ā€œ ’I was drunk’ is hardly an excuse Brittanyā€¦ā€ Sure he knew what alcohol did, but she shouldn’t have been drinking with another guy in the privacy of his home in the first place. Still he would wait and listen to the rest of her story.

ā€œIf you don’t tell me then I’ll never hear your side.ā€ David said calmly. ā€œI’m giving you a chance to explain yourself now, are you sure you want to forget it?ā€ Sure he was annoyed, but she was right in one aspect, he’d been ignoring her side of the story for some time now. He had to be an adult and at least hear her out.

David sighed and shook his head. ā€œBrittany, regardless of if you were thinking of me or not, what you did was wrong. In fact It hurts me a bit more to know that you were thinking of me….because you should’ve cared enough to know not to do it.ā€

He put a hand on his face and rubbed the lids of his eyes as he contemplated kicking her out.

ā€œJust…..give me some time alone ok? I’m going out for a bit to clear my head. I’ll be back later."

Her only warning would be the rumble of David’s bike as he pulled up beside her.

ā€œWhat the hell are you doing?ā€ David almost shouted as he stepped off his bike and removed his helmet to look at her.

ā€œI told you I’d be back in a bit, why weren’t you at the apartment when I returned?ā€
