The streets were completely devoid of citizens when the Sleeping Hour had come. But, Gaia did not have darkness as the suns were ever shining. There were only guards in their gold gilded armor standing fast and keeping watch over Skyfall now.

There was a woman in a white cloak sitting on the edge of a statue which represented Eras—the dead dwarf star. She waited and watched for particular faces.

The woman ducked into the Temple of Eras which had been abandoned and neglected long ago. No one ever came to pay homage to the dead God that was subdued by his siblings. The walls and pillars were made from dark granite and rose taller than any man. A giant could easily fit in the empty hall. Leaves were on the floor and roots had weaved their way into the stone to take claim.

Each step that Demi took along the stone left frosted footprints and she did not stop until she arrived at another portrayal of Eras.

“So you two followed. Good,” Demi stated without turning around to face them. Her voice carried easily enough in the grand hall and they would be able to hear the woman clearly. “I have just saved your life. Do not trust the words of Ry’nn Traeger, the mage that has brought you here.”

“She will lead you down a path of betrayal.”

Demi Edenhelm’s aura was of pure light and even its scent was aromatic like flowers in bloom in The Golden Vale. Her intentions were good and so was her alignment.

The mage reached into her cloak and pulled out two stones which were inscribed with a strange symbol. The first was red and inside the stone whirled fire in its raw form. The second was a white stone which shone brilliantly as if light itself were trapped within it.

“I have known Ry’nn my entire life. She seeks the weapons which carved this Earth and will have them to herself if it costs her her dying breath. But she cannot do it alone. She has brought you all forth in order to gain the weapons for her and then she plans to kill you all.”

Demi finally turned to face them with a stone held in each hand. One was held out towards the Paladin: the flaming stone. And the other was held out towards the magician: the light stone.

“These two stones are part of the seven which you seek. I am going to entrust these to you. The first is the key to Skuld, a great sword that wreaths itself in flame at the wielders Will. The second is the key to Artrea which are gauntlets that gives power over the Light.”

“When the time comes,” Demi addressed Karasaad, “You will be ready to face such a powerful foe. Her magic is strong but so is mine. With these weapons comes great power to use that will be beyond even our ability.”

The hand which held the flaming stone dropped but Demi still held out the light stone for Karasaad.

“She will bring great darkness on the land when the paths are open and they will be opened, so the prophecy has spoken. They must open and Eras will rise once more. But with this stone, and the others, you will be able to triumph.”

“And I am Demi Edenhelm of Skyfall.” It was a powerful name but meant nothing to the stranger. Her father was the ruler of the Skyfall Kingdom. Demi was a princess but she did not see herself as such.

“And do not tell the others of Ry’nn’s intentions. Things are in place and they must not be shifted. The stones must be collected and Ry’nn will lead them. They are doomed to travel down that path until it is time to save them.”

“You must keep this a secret.”

“This is the hall of the Banished God Eras. He was a great god that shown red and engulfed the sky. But his power was growing too great and so his brother, Atargatis, and his sister, Saggitae, consumed his power. Now he rests in an eternal sleep so that he may never again attempt to swallow our mother, Gaia.”

“It is forbidden to worship him as worship grants him power. None come here anymore save for beasts and the roots of trees.”

There was a long pause before Demi spoke again.

“I must leave you. I cannot stay long lest Ry’nn sense my presence. Your stone will call upon you and take you upon a journey which you must defeat on your own. Stand fast, Karasaad.”

And with that, the icy woman stepped behind a pillar and disappeared.

There was fresh snow upon the ground and it lent a chill to the air which nipped at Demi’s cheeks and nose. The woman stood in the middle of a bridge which was humming with the ancient spells cast upon it. In a world filled with wondrous and natural phenomenon like magic, the people of the land forgot how important it truly was. For example, Demi thought to herself, one could snip the bond of magic from the bridges through the Exalted Mountains and the people of Skyfall would die.

They would have no food and no water outside of the one which grew on their floating mountain. The winter mage ran her gloved fingers along the ropes of the bridge in a reverence. And then her eyes turned up to the shimmering white walls of the Citadel. Demi had saved two lives and condemned the others to death. It was the way that it was meant to be but having to sacrifice was never a pleasant beginning to saving the world.

But it was a necessary sacrifice.

The woman released a silent sigh and then turned to meet gazes with the dwarf. It was as if she knew that he was there or even, waiting for him. Her left hand wrapped around the crystal staff in her hand and Demi began to walk towards him. It did not take long for the mage’s gliding steps to reach the dwarf. And when she arrived, Demi smiled beautifully and extended her hand.

Resting in her palm was a stone. It was made from the clearest of crystal and gave off a glimmering glow of soft blue light. There was something pure about the stone and familiar as if it were the very essence that resided in every living things soul.

“This belongs to you, friend,” Demi said cryptically, “It is the key to Eshatt. A Hammer of great power. It is only fitting that it belongs with a dwarf such as yourself. Many foes have fallen beneath its anvil and they shall once again.”

The stone began to sing for Mikhail, a stout dwarven song which would be familiar to his ears.

“Mikhail Kahldmek,” Demi Edenhelm repeated the name and smiled even more beautifully. She did not give her true name which would reveal her as the princess of Skyfall but gave her mystic name. “I am the Lady of Winter and it is my greatest honor to meet you finally. Gaia has been waiting for a very long time for this moment to pass.”

“Take it. It is yours to protect and keep until it is time for you to journey into its depth to claim Eshatt. There you will face a perilous trail in which you must overcome your greatest fears. If you are successful, Eshatt shall appear to you but if you fail, I fear that you will be lost to something even worse than death.” Demi’s eyes and voice went distant at the last words spoken and her smiled had died away. It almost seemed as if she were going to weep tears. But, the woman did not and remained composed.

“I pray that you will protect this stone with your life. Do not allow it to fall into the wrong hands. Gaia needs you, Mikhail Kahldmek.”

It was a valid question and one that she had been anticipating from the dwarf. The mage leaned on her staff with both hands wrapped around it. Eyes like ice stared at Skyfall Citadel as if there was something there; an evil presence.

“You wait and prepare yourself for a long journey. Eshatt will call on you when it believes it is time for you to face your fears and to take your trial,” Demi said.

“There is a shadow coming to Gaia and the world as we know it will change. Darkness comes in the world that never grows dark in the Sleeping Hours. You are one of the Champions chosen by the Mother Gaia to save her from Eras’s return.” Eras was the dormant god that was sealed away by his siblings Saggitae and Atargatis. He had threatened to swallow the world in his great red body but was subdued. Now he was nothing more than a dead star in the sky that Gaia orbited as the earth did to its sun.

“But I must leave you. The evil lurking in Skyfall Citadel is searching for me. Be wary of the Woman in Red. And keep this all a secret. You must not tell anyone that you have the stone,” Demi said before readying herself to leave. She lingered for a moment though as if she knew the dwarf had parting questions or comments.

“I do not know why you were chosen. Gaia speaks to me. She had instructed me to wait here and keep watch for the red-bearded warrior,” Demi said turning her eyes down to the dwarf. There was great reverence in her gaze as she looked down on him. Being chosen was no light duty and in the end, such a title as Champion may claim many lives in the war. The dwarf could very well be one that is lost.

“The Red Lady is Ry’nn Traeger. She gathers souls from other worlds to find the remaining stones. Four have been given and three remain. There are two which you may confide in. If you wish, seek out Gary Mandolera the Paladin and Karasaad Vidathari the Magician. They too, are holder of stones.”

“Gather supplies, weapons, and armor, Mikhail. They shall prove you well in the time to come,” Demi said before handing him a small canvas bag full of Skyfall gold. And without another word, the woman began to journey away from the city and away from the newest chosen Champion.

“Light be with you, Champion Mikhail,” a voice said on the wind even if Demi remained facing away from the dwarf ad never stopped walking.

Demi walked into the bar then her long blonde hair flowing behind her. She looked around wondering where she had managed to end up this time, she had been out on an expedition as always and she very much remembered pouting at her mother and saying who needs a map? before setting out and getting lost. From atop a mountain she had found this place and so here she was...no matter there seemed to b- at that moment she walked into the table Bayo was sitting at, "oh sorry sir i..." her voice trailed off slightly as she quickly scanned Bayo, deciding whether or not he could be of use.

Demi stood up straight and looked at Bayo, "hmm that was quick...you don't even know my name yet" she winked as she said this to Bayo before taking a seat. "a drink? wow you do like to move quickly but if you must a beer would be great right now" she smiled brightly as she looked Bayo up and down again, wondering why he was so spontaneously nice but who cared? nice people were good people... usually.

Demi yawned as she answered, "Demi." she pshed her goggles off of her face and up onto the top of her head, she didn't like wearing them unless she was outdoors which she currently wasn't, "tell me Bayo you wouldn't be able to tell me exactly where we are would you?" she glanced around only just realising that she was in a bar...that was bad very bad unable to notice the area she was in? what a rookie mistake she thought to herself.

Demi sighed and rested her chin on the table, "ah well suppose this is what i get for ignoring advice" she said as she sipped her beer and went back to resting her chin against the table. At this point Bayo may have noticed that she kept her right arm against her side the whole time, never once lifting it above her waist. It may just be damaged but who knew? perhaps there was something more to this...

Demi blinked in surprise at Bayo's question, "yes... what makes you ask that?" she fired back fearing that Bayo may have already seen something he probably shouldn't have but well...there was only one way to be 100% sure. She took another sip from her beer then still trying to keep her right arm below her waist for the currently unknown reason.

Demi seeing no way out of this raised her hand up onto the table revealing the fingerless glove she had on, atop the glove was a special bullet proof case with a hole in the middle, just the right size for a shining blue crystal roughly half the size of her palm. "this is why i didn't move it at all" she said looking up at Bayo from her seat wondering what his reaction would be.

Demi sighed in relief, so he doesn't seem to understand and it also doesn't appear to have driven him mad she thought to herself, both best possible outcomes she cocked her head to he side slightly, "umm...what do you have in mind?" she asked not really knowing any of the hot spots in town having arrived literally five minutes ago.

Demi turned slightly red, "oh? um..well uhh that was quick" she simply said, never had someone suggest that within 5 minutes before she thought to herself as she finished off her beer and tried to avoid eye contact with Bayo.

Demi sighed again in relief, ok...just offering a place to stay that'll do "hmm...that's very kind of you Bayo" she said, turning to him and smiling warmly, her face back to a normal colour, so this may not move so quickly...just as well she thought to herself.

The planet by this point was mostly obscured with clouds and storms. The had rolled in starting from two places unseemingly connected; somewhere in the Weargtooth Mountains, as well as the Exalted Mountains. Before long Gaia transformed from a green globe to a gray one.

Lightning spidered across the planet to strike somewhere on Siv'en. It spidered again to strike, this time over in the Kadota Peaks. Again the lightning struck up in the Weargtooth Mountains. Purple sparks beneath the clouds sprung up for an instant over what was north Ellaria beneath the clouds.

A force grew stronger across Gaia, and as it did another force weakened. There was a quake - though barely able to be sensed, something deep beneath the ground stirred in Siv'en. The clouds there illuminated, sky breaking for a moment to reveal a valley bathed in light, before a great flash and the light dissipated, dark skies again closing in to obscure the view.

The dead star Eras shifted ever so slightly. Nobody but the greatest mappers of these stars, having had tracked them for a millennia or more, would notice anything irregular about the movement. It was slightly, oh so slightly, faster than usual. Eras's great mass moved fully into position, placing the great Soja directly between the dead star and the planet. With this stellar line formed, Eras' power could truly grow. The magical nature of the Chousin called to Eras, well within his grasp. He tested the waters, pulling power from the Chousin as he did the stones of the Iskjerne Viking settlers, of the Taiyou weapons, of the Whispering Woods and the Bez Daha Trees. He took a little sip, and liked what he tasted, and went to draw more.

Gaia called to the champions. Time was running out.

Eras finished his great move. In position, the dead star continued to drain life from the forces of spirit, magic, and power surrounding Gaia. The great alien structure was a main target for Eras. As he drew from the Taiyou ship, drew from the Viking's forged stones, drew from Gaia herself, and the sword far below, Eras grinned.

It was very faint, but a new light emerged in the sky. Not so much new as newly awakened.
