This is a test.

I have finished installing the data storage devices, all 600 of them. Hopefully, this will be enough to properly document our journey through the unknown.
Shaselia thinks this is unnecessary, but I find it would be fatal to our existence to not. Besides, the computer only takes up one room.

Saving now.
Edit: It saved. I have succesfully installed memory into the Auroragon.
Other travelers will be arriving soon.

Our adventure begins now..._The_Inventor

I'm glad Joruv was able to get the log up and running, despite my complaints about the power usage. I only worry for the future of our crops on board. If they start to die, that computer will be the first thing I unplug.
Oh, look at me, already anticipating problems. Well, wouldn't anyone who smokes hujibi? Besides, the crops depend on it, and I don't plan on going without forn. It's bad enough we have to go without Skau meat.
I've to tend the plants. How does one end one of these....logs?_Shasalia

Well this is it! I think I speak for the whole Bagain crew when I say we're all pretty excited to be going into space! It's an honor to be the first ones, and as someone who's been on board since day one I really have to say this is going to be spectacular. Excited to see tat the funding has been put to good use, and excited to wave at those sorry suckers back there! It's my wife, Ephalia , Phetalia and Paricia, our daughters, and myself coming aboard. Unfortunately none of her relatives are alive and well, mine thought I was crazy! They say, "Derud, you crazy entrepeneur you, one of these schemes will be the end of you!" I laugh because, Mother is probably right. I told her i'd vall to her from space, which was a laugh. Ephalia chuckled as well, but I have a feeling she didn't find it so funny.
Can we even do that? Vall from space? I suppose we can't seeing as the video module is disabled...Hm. I'll have to inquire. Well, off to get settled. Plenty of time to tyjab away whilst hurtling through space! _TheBagainFamily

_____________________AURORAGON_________________________

My name is Phetalia Bagain. I am 14 years old, and I am boarding a space ship. What we are doing is completely unheard of, and I'm honestly kinda jet. We've been learning a lot about the old machines like this in class, and nobody has been able to work them apparently. Until now. Paddy funded the project, that's why we get to go on board to space. It's really cool and all, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm gonna miss my friends. Kegelia and Wahilia are like, my arms. I wish they could have come, but there was no way their parents were letting them. I heard Pa mention something to Granna about valling from space. Granna seemed excited about it, so maybe I'll get the chance to talk to the girls. Signing off to settle in, everyone at school donated their music collections to me. They said it was so we could have something aboard to remind us of home, but I think they just wanted their stuff to travel through space._Phet

_____________________AURORAGON_________________________

I have hope.
Whatever lies ahead, I know Paddar would never steer us wrong.
He funded the Ratus Messis, which is the current source of conflict on Novnu.
What was a gift will be the demise of Novnu, I am sure of it.
We embark this afternoon.
I look to space, Haevenia,
Here I come.

Lowen: "It just said it was starting!"

To be honest, this is all very surreal. The space shuttle, our future. Was it last night we were sitting in the living room, sipping hujibi tea as a last supper with my sish Wavaria, while her suns explored their new home? We of course gave her and her family the property, seeing as Hudon's brov Meson is coming with us. I do hope he can keep himself under control, lest we have a permanant repeat of Wavaria's Ceremone. I'm giving up my life for this, everyone should know. Leaving behind a successful carreer in cosmetics, a sish and two nephews, a charming home on the third best street in the district.
Of course, all that is nothing if you were to ask me about the future of my son, my baby boy, Vorvo. He is my everything and that is why I am aboard this ship. Yes I love Hudon, but it's my love for my son that dragged me here. My want for his future. I should go finish unpacking our things. We don't have much, but what we do have we should settle. No use having fartek everywhere._Maniria_Caverok

_____________________AURORAGON_________________________

I don't want to be on this ship, let's make this clear right off the bat.
I, Vorvo Caverok,
Do not want to be on this lopting space shuttle of doom.
This is a bad idea, I've said so since day one.
I am not ok with this.
_V_

_____________________AURORAGON_________________________

The ship seems to be operating smoothly, from what I can tell of the A.I. I've encountered. To be honest, I don't have much to do with that part of the maintenece on our craft. I handle technical problems. I fix cogs, wires, and sparks. That is what I will be doing, as soon as I finish this log. This is an opportunity of a species that is upon us, and I am eager to do all I can to aid our travels through space. My family has agreed to accompany me on this journey. For this, I am most grateful. I'm lucky to have Maniria as a wife. She is settling for the both of us while I help The Inventor clear the Auroragon for take off. Maniria hates it when I call Joruv by his famename, but here in the logs I will._hudoncaverok

Ured's Personal journal log 1
Today we have boarded the ship. I was very suprised at the size of the ship. I have seen some ships before, but this was the first time I entered one of the things... It was much more different then I had expected. I'm not sure about the whole thing. I havent ever been away from this planet. The plan seemed like a good idea, but it still is a bit vague. We dont really have a confirmation that it is true. The biggest reason I have come on the ship, is because of my daur, Salentia. She found the idea very good. I am still very unsure about it, but its better then staying on this planet on my own. Salentia seems really optimistic about the whole thing. Roren however, seems to have become a bit drawn back by it. It probably is because he has to leave everything he has known behind... He seems rather sad about it. I am not sure about Celestia though. I havent really talked to her alot. She seemed a bit hostile against Roren though. Hopefully the whole thing will go well, but that is something we all hope.

Personal Entry: Salentia_Leventer 1
Today we have boarded the ship. There were alot more people then I had expected. I've come to the ship together with Ured, my father, Celestia my daur and Roren my son. Everyone seems a bit down at the fact that we have leave our home, but I know it was the right decision. We didnt only leave leave or home and memories, but also depts and trouble. The biggest thing that bothers me is the length of the journey. It think it may be harmfull or damaging to Roren and Celestia. They are still childern after all... They shouldnt go through changes like this. I'm not sure how this journey will affect my Paddar though. I honestly hope that we arrive before age takes him away... The journey might take over 50 years and he is an old man. But well, nobody really knows how long it will take before we will arrive at our destination. We do know that its going to take a while though. Another one of my worries is the education that they will get... I havent seen, nor heard alot about it. It makes me worried that they will not get a proper education. I could try to teach Celestia what I know about being a doctor if there isnt another option though. I wonder how much other people with a medical degree are on the ship. I dont think that Roren would be able to learn those things though, he has a bit of a fear for blood. He also isnt very good at treating and cathering sick people and such. Hopefully I will be able to either get them proper education, or have someone teach Roren something he can create a living with. If this journey goes succesfull, then he will have a very bright future... Maybe something related to engineering. I'm not sure what Ured's job on the ship will be though... Maybe the bookholding or something like that. He is very good with numbers and such. He cant really do any physical work, since he is a bit of an old man. Hopefully I will be able to sort this all out...

This is so lopting jet. I can say that here.
I have been assigned secretary for my family on this machine, which is Mawwan's way of saying Padder can't figure it out. I bet he got stuck on the voice module, I sure couldn't figure it out.
We're going into space, and that isn't even the cryo part. My best friend is coming with us!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's right, Wolov's parents agreed to let him come, he's so jet. We are voyaging into the vast unknown, true explorers!
I've got to go unpack. Wolov and I are sharing a room._OpumSatiev

But, if I get off, I let everyone down. I let Opum down, and they were so proud of me my parents.
g2g unpack

I can't believe its happening, its finally happening, I'm so excited its happening!
Not that happy that all this has happened mind you, the world's biosphere collapsing, the ring disappearing...
These are all terrible things but... Now, now we can go to space!
I've always wanted to go to space, though space isn't exactly what interests me, I'm not an astronomer or astrophysicist or even (heavens forbid) an astrologist. I'm a Biologist, a gentecist specifically and it is pretty obvious that space itself is more or less devoid of life. However the way the flora and fauna we'll be bringing with us will cope on the ship and maybe just maybe any alien life we may encounter!
I know its unlikely, at least in my life time with or without the cryo sleep. But to me just the thought of encountering anything alien is... Fantastic.
Of course I know that the purpose of this... Journey I suppose is what everyone is calling it, the purpose of this journey is to find some form of... Paradise, a perfect planet full of life and hope.
Its a nice sentiment and I do honestly hope we find a new home but... I know this won't be some easy going pilgrimage. As I said I'm not an astronomer but I know enough about space to know its dangerous, its inhospitable and... Well this trip wont be fun.
I don't even know if we'll make it anywhere, we may die in the first few months of the flight for all we know.
All I know is that anywhere is better than here and if I die up there...
Well I'll just hope its quick.

Hour Seven

Note: to be read to Say Goodbye -- Methodic Doubt Music

All eyes of Norvnu were on the last accessible spaceport on the planet.

For the first time in hundreds of years, man was to enter space. Every videostation on the planet had a film crew present. Civilians and officials alike swarmed around the Auroragon, the cargo cruiser that was an island in a sea of chaos. Many militant vessels had been placed as barriers surrounding the gargantuan piece of technology, for many extremest groups had emerged to protest the day's event. Their chants were barely audible over the murmer of excitement, over the amplified commands from officials to stand clear and get back. Security copters occupied most of the airspace, vehicles securing the perimiters. Smog at an all time high. Noise was at peak calibur.

This was not just the start of the Auroragon Trail.
This was a moment for history.

On the ground, amongst the thousands who had accumulated, faces streaked with tears stared eagerly at the front bay window. Relatives of the brave men and women who were about to embark on the journey of a lifetime clustered together, united by circumstance.

Despite the ruckus, despite the noise, despite the protests and and the fanfare, the jets of the Auroragon roared to life. It sent a shockwave through the crowd; those unprepared stumbled from the sudden boom. Protesters and well wishers alike were ushered backwards from the craft, now that it was officially dangerous. Hysterical relatives were forced back into the crowd, having had tried to rush forth towards the craft. Their tears were drowned in the screams of the planet, the few who had crumbled in their sorrow left forgotton on the ground.

It was time.

The massive modified cargo ship maneuvered it's way to the take off point. Again, the crowd surged forth, hastily battered back by fretful authorities. A protester or two had cut lose, streaking stark save for paint towards the Auroragon. They were regretfully incinerated by the following surge from the jets of the enourmous ship. On board the Auroragon, behind the main bay window, the travelers prepared for take off. The engines were at full capacity, everything was in place.

With the push of a button, the fate of the Auroragon was sealed. The craft quaked, slowly rising until it disappeared into the thick smog.

The crowd was silent, watching the glow beyond the haze.

Then, Norvnu echoed with a boom to shake the ages.

The Auroragon surged up, through the armostphere, into the black of night. Fire and minor debris fell away from the massive vessel as it shot further and further, finally exiting fully into the vacuum of space. There, for but a moment, the Auroragon would drift, before triumphantly hooking onto the momentum of the planet. On what would appear to be pure adrenaline alone, the ship hitched a ride around Novnu once, twice, and then rocketed into space.

The Auroragon was Aurora-gone.

Shaselia took her last drag and nodded. There was no reason for them to dwell on this depressing subject further, not while she was hujibi'd and there was a knock at the door.

Rising slowly, she placed the pipe on the small desk in their cabin. There it sat, a wisp of smoke still dissipating in the air, as the door was flung open. Motor skills? Not the best on this particular drug.

"Hey," Shaselia smiled on the man who stood in their doorway. Behind her, Joruv cleared his throat. She sidled out of the way, taking residence on her bed.

"Sorry to ah, bother you!" Derud stood in the doorway, shifting from foot to foot. Why was he nervous? He was the one who had just invested in this whole journey! All of his money, to go to space! Not a bad investment, given the situation at hand...

Joruv waved in Derud Bagain with a tight lipped smile. He hadn't smiled in a while, not many people could. Shaselia was an exception.

"No bothers here. Is something the matter?" He had never been one for small talk, or company. Lately, he'd simply wanted solitude. Was this depression?

Smiling, Shaselia plucked her pipe from the desk and offered it to Derud. He looked hesitant to accept at first, but one look at the old woman's smile had him with a combustor in his hand.

"Ephalia," Derud choked out, holding in the precious smoke. He coughed on the exhale, which had Shaselia smiling wider. She took the pipe back as he passed it, waving to indicate he had taken his fair share.

"She hasn't eaten in four days, spoken in five," The hujibi crept up on him, but not too much. It was perfect, just enough to take the cutting edge off. It was too bad Ephalia refused to touch the stuff.

"What do I do?" Derud looked to Shaselia.

Joruv knew he was about as useful as boiled forn in this situation. He played the part of listener, watching Derud for signs of man stress. Shaselia may be better with social weaved, but he was still a man.

Did those conventions apply here in space? He stopped himself from thinking about the subject any further.

Very perplexing, Shaselia thought to herself, mouth forming a line. Not eating was a very bad sign indeed. Troubling, even, for if Ephalia wasn't eating a slew of other problems could emerge. Her immune system could start to go, the cabin pressure changes could effect her more vastly even.

Leaning forward, Shaselia looked into Derud Bagain's eyes. There she stared for a few more moments.

"She doesn't smoke, if that's what you're thinking," The man said with a sense of defeat. "We were all so jet to be going, but now that we're stuck..."

Derud Bagain sighed, heavily. He ran a hand through his hair, which was thankfully still fully there. It was one less thing he had to worry about.

"Do you think she's in shock? The girls seem ok, Paricia is fine even. I'm not sure how to take that," He looked back at his hands, which had taken to each other in his lap.

He couldn't even help it, he let go of a small laugh.

Joruv didn't know what to say. For once, he was glad he didn't have children. Glad he didn't have a family he knew he left behind. Wasn't it Derud that was going on and on about valling from space? The Inventor's heart sunk at the thought, looking at the defeated man before him.

Was that a laugh? Joruv himself had to snort. He couldn't help it, either. It was a mistake, but he snuck a glance at Shaselia.

Where they held back their mirth, she let hers loose. Hoots of laughter shook the bed as the old woman stomped about. It was all too much for her.

Impending doom, the end of the world, stuck on a ship, doing drugs, the usual. Shaselia laughed harder, not even making sounds at this point.

Derud chuckled along, unable to contain himself. As he laughed, a strange sense of relief washed over him. Thinking of his strange kids, his estranged lover, and the situation at hand, Derud gave up.

He collapsed in his seat, convulsing with laughter, tears sprouting from the corners of his eyes.

Joruv laughed, sure, but not as hard as the others. For one, he wasn't on hujibi. He was sober.

While he pretended to have a grand old time, shaking his head and hiding his face, Joruv was deep in thought. He thought of the future, of the future of the Bagain girls, of the Caverok boy. He thought of the others, too. The young couple of boys, so in love, now in space. They had each other at least. He thought of the other families, the other people, none of which he knew very well.

He would know them soon. They were all trapped on this ship, the Auroragon, until further notice. When would further notice come? In his lifetime? Not like he had much of it left.

The other two laughed, and laughed, and picked up the pipe again. Joruv scooted towards the wall, drawing out a notebook from beneath his pillow. While the two talked about the trivialities of their former lives, Joruv wrote.

He wrote of plans, of topics to discuss. Of meetings to have, people to meet. He wrote until the laughter faded, until Derud said a polite goodbye and thanked Shaselia for her advice, until Shaselia herself crawled beneath her blankets and fell asleep high. He wrote through her first sleep cycle, and almost threw her second. That was when Shaselia threw a pillow at him.

He turned off the light, put the notebook back, and fell asleep sure that he would awaken in the morning.

"Attention all adult passengers of the Auroragon, please report to the Bridge immediately for an urgent meeting."
The message ran through the com of the ship, projected from the bridge. Joruv Komfiev's calmed voice pules through the airwaves. The passengers of the Auroragon had many things to discuss. Politics, education, economy. They had been in space long enough now, and the Ratus Messis wasn't anywhere in sight. Shaselia had closed the book long ago on the magic plant that would take them to Haevenia, the promised land. They would of course keep the eye out, but right now their destination was habitable land, and a future.

The vast stretch of absolute nothingness spilled itself before the main viewing front port of the Auroragon. Captivating, for such a distance would seem impossible for any creature from any planet. Stars the size of seven thousand worlds dotted the lack of horizon. The Auroragon was but a speck, but a molecule in comparison. They were absolutely nothing, nada, zip, zilch. It was something to think about. Was it something worth worrying about?

Did the Gods truly care about their little ship, the Auroragon? The humans of Norvnu had destroyed their entire planet, detonated it even, and had the Gods even blinked? Did they shed a tear? Was the death of a planet part of some...Master plan somewhere? Was this to be known?

Contemplating this, Shaselia Komfeiv moved a hand to her cors'. Joruv too was starting into space. She wondered what he was thinking, but didn't ask. Not now, not with that look in his eyes...

The door port behind them slid open with a fluid whoosh. In walked the Caveroks, without their son. Shaselia raised a brow, but Joruv remained stone faced. He had no use for social politics, there was a reason he had no family besides Shaselia. It's not that he couldn't relate, it was just that he didn't relate. The death of Norvnu had struck Joruv deeper than it had the others. He realized they were the last, most likely. Unless, by chance, some fragment hurtled through space somewhere, still holding life. If the Ratus Messis survived, that alone would be a miracle.

Joruv was contemplating this as he felt Shaselia's tightening grip. He raised his brows and angled his face, ready to receive whatever words came.

"On with it then," Hudon gruffed out, Maniria casting a wanting look to Shaselia. She clicked her tongue once and drew a pipe from within her folds. Hudon didn't care to speak of his son, or anything personal. Not often. Not now! He had more pressing matters, mainly the mechanics of this ship. Who was to keep the air rolling, the oxy going, if it wasn't for he? Maniria may have known, but he had gently receded from her. She had taken to private lamenting, he had taken to not wanting to hear it. His mouth was a smaller line than hers, he made sure, as his lack of response caused the woman to remove her hand.

Shaselia lit her pipe of hujibi as Maniria's hand folded in her lap. The woman was beginning to look older than she should.
"Where are the others?" Asked the perplexed Caverok woman. Hudon's gaze had drifted out the window, of course. She refrained from sighing, knowing one would receive a less than forgiving look from a certain male present.

"Coming," Puffed on an exhale. Shaselia was toking on her pipe, enjoying the fumes, the set back, the withdraw. A half smile, an offer to Maniria, who glanced sidelong at Hudon, who looked out the window. Almost as if she had never touched one before, Maniria took the pipe and brought the long tip to her teeth.

"Didn't know you did that," Derud Bagain's cheery voice echoed around the Bridge, he clapped Hudon on the back when he finally approached. Reaching for the pipe from Maniria, Derud grinned. Ephalia had promised to come later, she had said, tonight, she had said, to the meeting, the woman had promised. They were toking for a celebratory reason, no doubt. More than just a meeting, eh? Space! He dragged in deep, eyes glimmering at Maniria's twisted face.

When Maniria finally began to chort out smoke, the pipe was back in Shaselia's grasp. Meson's frame popped into view, he grinned and hastily took his seat. Hudon continued to stare out the window, Maniria had joined him in a different spirit. The pipe was passed to Meson, Maniria sat out this round.

They waited for the others to arrive before officially beginning.

Reven approaches the bridge and the doors slide apart revealing the large viewing window and other member of the ships crew. He walks onto the bridge. "Sorry I'm late." He says before he walks to the big viewing port and stares out of it for a long while, every time he came in here he was drawn to the big window, he loved to get close and look out. Lately this is where he had spent a lot of his time, the promise of something being out there the only thing that has kept him from breaking completely.

He forces himself away from the window that so frequently has him mesmerized and goes to find a seat. As he sat down he looks at everyone else in the room, some he has seen a few times, others are new to him. Most of them seem to be older than he is but he could see that a majority of them are just as disturbed about the lost of Norvnu, who wouldn't be? Some of them at the table were passing around a pipe of hujibi, Reven hated the smell of hujibi it always made him go into a coughing fit, luckily whatever filtration system the ship had was doing a good job of keeping it out of the air. He looks around one more time then speaks up "I hope I wasn't the one that was keeping the meeting on hold?" Reven honestly didn't know how many people were on the ship.

"No, no, just in time," Shaselia casually waved a dismissive hand. They had literally all the time in the worlds, and she wasn't one to worry with hujibi in her system about such a trivial thing. Her plants were well taken care of at this point. For now the elder woman rested easy.

Meson also waved hello, appreciating that there were people more his age on board. Twenties right? He looks it. I'm only 32, right? What's age in space? Hudon nodded at the new and unfamiliar arrival. Joruv too nodded, though he recognized the face from the ship files. He had made it his duty to know at least the faces of all who would step foot on his creation. Maniria continued to stare out the window, snapping out of her daze with a light smile in greeting. She didn't notice the new arrival until he spoke. He's quite handsome.

"Welcome!" Derud Bagain piped up, enthusiastic as always, "What a view, eh? This is my favorite room!" He settled himself into a seat and motioned for Reven to get comfortable. "Is this all we've got for tonight?"

Absently Maniria nodded. The others, for whatever reason, chose not to become involved in the higher affairs of the ship at this juncture. Shaselia smiled slightly, as if she knew something. Perhaps more people would change their minds and show up, Maniria speculated and turned her gaze back to the window. She dreamed of the communities back on Norvnu.

Joruv nodded, and rose from his seat. He waited for everyone to finish settling before opening his mouth to address them all. Shaselia absently extinguished the pipe. The Caveroks made themselves comfortable, and Derud smiled the brightest of anyone in the room.

"As most of you know, we're not going home," Joruv let it sit for a moment before continuing, "We've been blasted a bit...off course. In fact, it's impossible to tell where we are, or where we might be going."

Maniria exhaled heavily. Hudon didn't move a muscle. Joruv's jaw pulsed. Derud's smile began to fade. It was Meson who cleared his throat and asked the question the others avoided; "What next?"

The Inventor turned to gaze at the stars, at space beyond. He couldn't answer that, except to say, "Onward." Placing a hand against the cold clear view port, Joruv thought for a moment before turning back to the others. He pointed out at space, and with the shadow of a smile asked of the small grouping,

"Where to?"

Lewis Johnson arrived still mostly coated in grease having just climbed out from the engine maintenance schedule. It was a dirty task but lubricating valves and checking for microfissures in lines was one of the Necessary Evils for the engineering staff. Cramming into a small tube and crawling around was definitely a full contact sport. He listened to Joruv as Lewis tried to brush off the caked-on dust.

“ Sorry I'm late. I've mostly serviced the infrastructure damage and it shouldn't get any worse. I'll need time to make it better. If you're going anywhere I'd suggest aiming for small jumps at present until engineering is sure we're not going to pop coolant through half the ship. ”

The news sent a gasp around the room. Joruv remained at his post, glaring deep into space.

"We do what we must," and then turning to Lewis, "Thank you."

"We're going to need more hands in the garden," Shaselia decided to get moving sooner than later. She shot a glance around the room, welcoming others to join her. There was a lot to do. Food had to be properly rationed. She took one last puff from her pipe and motioned it towards Lewis.

Maniria moved to follow Shaselia, Let the others decide where to go. I'm not even sure I care anymore.

I suggest finding an asteroid belt first. Preferably iron-magnesium so I can rebuild hull spars. Gardening needs trace minerals. We had to harvest a lot of the heavy drilling motors just to keep sewer and water running.

Hudon Caverok swore and left the room. This meant their air system was at risk. On his way out he clapped a hand on Lewis's shoulder, giving him a hard nod.

"An asteroid belt...Shouldn't be too hard to find, eh?" Derud Bagain, ever hopeful of their cause, crossed the room to press himself against the glass viewing space beyond. Despite everything, they were here.

Lewis nodded and found a chair to fall into. He didn't know for sure when he'd slept last. Too long, certainly. Spare parts were hard to find but some things could be repurposed.
