The bar door opened up to reveal a slender young female. Upon first glance one could likely note the light blue uniform of the Imperial Defense Force, to anyone who recognized the Emblems and the Patches of the United Aschen Empire.

Her long slender legs moved with grace and fluidity as she made her way through the door, heels clicking on the floor of the bar as slender hands moved to smooth the uniform down and ensure a neat appearance.

Her soft brown orbs gazed about the interior of the bar before she selected an ideal table situated midst the crowd of people. This would do in her mind. As would a couple drinks after a hard day working down at the Consulate to establish a new program that the Empire was implementing.

She slowly lowered herself into the chair, which creaked slightly before she waited to be served by the Bartender, or a Wait staff member.

While she sat she pulled out a small Dataslate, and began to key in data into the slate, frowning slightly as a text message crossed the screen.

"Concord ship detected in the Eridani Early Warning Zone... interesting... they're signalling the IDF." She said under her breath, looking up. "I'm getting a couple drinks, and then I'll roll out and see what's going on." She said to herself.

Éclaires eyes continued to wander around Gambit's Bar. It was mostly habit for the young Aschen woman, extensive Military training always seemed to keep their heads on a proverbial swivel.

It wasn't until Claire's brown eyed gaze fell on Soloran and Maxine, but especially Soloran that they stopped. Perhaps it seemed she was staring, watching him.

"You look like something...." She said quietly to herself, trailing off as the Waitress placed a glass of Ambrosia in front of her. She dismissed the Waitress with a pair of Aureus coins while she continued to stare.

"Xeno..." She added, mistaking the Drow for an Avaeon.

(Avaeon: A Psionic dark skinned Elven species at war with the Aschen Empire.)

Despite the fact that the dark elf was entertaining the woman in front of him, he would hardly be who he was today if he did not take note of the lingering eyes betraying ill will that he was so accustomed to. His own crimson eyes rose from his pondering of his rings to meet Éclaire's own for a brief moment. That moment stretched as he gauged her intent, evaluating her first as a threat, then he simply smirked slightly and returned to his conversation with Maxine.

His smirk seemed to beget more of a scowl from Hanley. When he gazed upon her he smirked where others would defer or avert their gaze. He didn't seem to show any signs of recognizing her outfit. of course, Hanley's was different from other Imperial uniforms, being the light blue uniform of the Imperial Defense Force, rather than the dark greys of the Imperial Navy.

Even when he went back to his conversation with Maxine, her inquisitive gaze remained fixed, as her lips met her glass. However her scowl inevitably turned to a smirk as the thought of having the Ordo Xenos having their hand at this alien.

Finally her lips parted to speak, her voice smooth, but inquisitive as ever.

"We don't see too many of your kind around these parts." She said, her thinly accented voice carrying through the air.

A man slept in a nearby booth, snoring softly with his arms crossed over his chest. An ivory hood concealed his identity but he frequently the bar and even this particular booth so often that most knew him and almost expected him to be there on a day to day basis. Normally he was how he was seen now, asleep, arms crossed, and hood hung heavy upon his brow and face to block the light from his eyes.

Maxine sat listening. She would have been more empathetic, if he situation wasn't so disgustingly different. He seemed to have cared for his family, the saddest part being that the world didn't accept his kind. Maxine's story was a bit uglier, in that her own family had betrayed her, and turned her over to monsters.

Through her random sips, she couldn't help but notice the Drow noticing someone else. She turned a eye, however subtle she tried, to find what appeared to be a rather attractive human female. She wasn't buying it, there were no regular humans around these parts, that much she had learned upon arriving.

"You're not a felon on the run, on you? I can't go to jail tonight, dude." The fact that the woman looked to be dawned in not-so-street clothes tipped Max off that she was of authority. Then the woman directed Soloran directly, and the witch took back to her drink, so as to occupy her mouth before it occupied her.

it seemed that Admiral Hanley was finding herself quickly shifting her attention from the Avaeon looking Drow Elf in front of her, to the Aschen Officer that was walking into the bar.

Her face contorted inquisitively slightly, as she checked the time on her data-slate. She would wait a few more minutes before it was time to take a shuttle to the Esteem. Afterall, it would be minutes to jump to the Barnard System.

Éclaire's eyes fell on Derek, before she pulled up something else on her dataslate. Where his uniform was the dark grey of the Imperial Navy, Éclaire's was the light blue of the Imperial Defense, with the blue and white Phoenix shield displayed proudly on her shoulder.

Derek noted Eclaire out of the corner of his eye. It wasn't often he saw other Aschen in here other than the occasional crew member and he raised his drink to her in a subtle gesture of greeting before returning to his musings. Given the nature of Gambit's Bar, the Imperial Defense officer could well have been stationed anywhere in the galaxy, and he had no cause to think she had any business with him.

She continued to tap at her data-pad before she swiped her hand over the screen. It was then Hanley got up, and flagged Derek to come over to her before she sat back down in the bar.

"Commander Adams." She said aloud, beckoning him over.

"Between the Avaeons, the three inch tall Muties, and all the other nasty stuff going on in here, I'd never think to see someone from the Imperial Navy." Hanley commented.

"Someone with as many demerits as you have though... a shame."

Derek grabbed his beer up off the counter as he moved to join the Admiral. At her remark regarding his military record he couldn't help but offer a low chuckle.

"What am I up to these days anyways?" he asked as he tipped his beer back again. "Thirty? Forty?" he asked.

For such a strong start to his military career, and the promise he had shown under Admiral Steele he had certainly managed to make a few career blunders in recent years. Mostly since he had come into contact with that strange psionic from the Special Projects Division.

Since her transfer off his ship, it would seem the man hadn't accumulated any further demerits. Though one could also coincide the lack of further misconduct with his deployment to Cryo, and it was difficult to say which might have been the underlying factor.

"What are you doing here anyways? Don't get too many Admirals that wander into here."

"Looks like your sitting at fifty-five." She said, looking up from her dataslate before answering his second question.

"I'm doing some work with the Consulate before I ship off to the Eridani system and then I'm headed back to the Tal Sector." She said, finishing her drink.

"Got a distress call from some Patrols snooping around the Local Region so I'm going to go and investigate. They say It's Varden meeting with the UDW, never can be good when two Xenos meet." She said, sliding her drink away from her.

"And this place is starting to get on my nerves, I swear to Ares that guy's an Avaeon."

Derek raised his brow at her answer. "Fifty-five?" he asked.

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that kid... what was his name..." he said with a vague wave of his hand that was holding his beer bottle. "The Terran punk that I decked in the bar here."

He chuckled again. Out of all fifty-five demerits, the ones he acquired from that night where probably the ones he least regretted.

He looked over towards the indicated individual. "I haven't ever seen an Avaeon before, but I have seen plenty enough like him back when I was deployed near Terra. Same species maybe, or close cousins?" he mused. He shrugged. The man's sword and dress didn't mark him as Avaeon, culturally or nationally. Likely as different from Avaeons as Terran humans where from Aschen.

"A fugitive," he began to reply, a small grin forming on those ebon lips, "Well, that depends. I suppose I have some crimes to answer for, though who doesn't in this forsaken place? Should some 'authority' come to take me away, rest assured. I have two means of escape that have never failed me before." Saying this, he pats the hilt of his sword at his hip.

Glancing away at the sound of the miniature human-like thing standing three inches tall, he quirks a silvery white brow.

"And what can I do for you?" he asks of Celiara.

While the drow directed his attention to the munchkin, Maxine decided to excuse herself to the bar for more drink. Tiny people made her uncomfortable. She was afraid she'd miss a step and squish someone. Just the thought of human guts beneath her boot made her squeemish. She preferred explosive methods, or even poisons, not bloody squashing.

A few feet down from the Aschen officers, Maxine landed herself safely. She asked for another drink, and then tilted her head to the get a better look at the two. She couldn't see the face of the male, but the female definitely needed to loosen up. Who plays with their phone at a bar. Maxine nodded her head, "Business or pleasure?" She directed to them both.

Éclaire slowly directed her attention to the woman that was sitting with the Drow, who was now addressing the pair.

She watched Maxine quizzically.

"It doesn't matter, they're all filthy aliens to me." Éclaire said flatly, before she turned to Answer Maxine.

"Whats it to you?" She asked Maxine, setting the dataslate down.

Maxine's eyes widened, and her head tilted to an angle at the hostile response from the petite uniformed woman. Max had half expected her voice to high enough to break glass, and demeanor friendly enough to make one sick, considering she had stepped away from the man she thought to be her problem.

"It ain't shit to me, lady, I'm just making polite conversation. Something I should probably assume you know nothing of." Maxine snapped back.

Éclaire's frown turned into a friendly smile. "I'm sorry.. I've been a little on edge." She said, before she turned to Derek.

"Quis hunc putet canis est?" She said, using the completely wrong tone and cadence, making it sound like a friendly question. She then settled back on Maxine, before she pulled an empty chair from the table.

"Come join us for a drink, I'm Éclaire, this is Derek." She said, gesturing to herself, and Derek respectively. "And you are?" She asked, as the Waiter brought them another drink.

She turned to Derek once more. "Spero ex hoc morbo non etiam Aliena." And then her smile went back to Maxine.

Derek shook his head before taking another swig of his drink

"If Admiral Nagala hasn't yet, I think we're safe," he answered in the Aschen tongue of Anquietas as he chuckled lightly over his beer.

"Pleasure," Derek added in the common tongue as Eclaire introduced him to the Terran woman.

He seemed more interested in his drink than either of the women though.

Maxine sucked her teeth at the polite chit tone that the woman took to her. She felt mocked, but was a good sport, none the less.

"Nice to meet you, Éclaire," She nodded, "Derek." Clearing her throat, "I'm Max. Just touched down in your wonderful world here." She gestured to the entire bar. Maxine usually ran with her assumptions, whether they were true or not, it was a way to find out things she wanted to know. "What'cha drinkin' on, tonight? I'll buy a round, in honor for all you have or haven't done for your people here." The sarcasm was thick in her tone.

Éclaire chuckled some as she nursed her drink some more. "Our People here? These aren't our people, not in the slightest." She said, gesturing to herself and Derek.

"We're Aschen, our home is actually... about ten thousand light years, that way..." She said, pointing to the ceiling.

"I'm drinking Ambrosia, it's an Aschen favorite, I don't know what Derek is having." She added, checking her dataslate.

"Ut aperta Imperio Nagala turpe autem admiralli classem, et quod haec fecit nos, et non fuit in judicio."
"To be frank, Nagala is a disgrace to the Empire, but she's Fleet Admiral, and not any of us so she's done something right." Éclaire replied in Anquietas.

"Ambrosia, huh?" Definitely think highly of themselves, or of their mixing skills, one of the two. "Light and dark don't mix. I'll stick with mine, two more for them." She spoke to the bartender.

"Well that's one thing we have in common then, not our people. As-Alie-n, Aschen you say?" Pointing to the ceiling. "Talk about your flyer miles. No wonder you found a bar once you got here; some serious jet lag, huh?" Everyone on the planet had heard of the Aschens. However, in Maxine's small little world, she had never actually encountered the supreme species. She was truly intrigued.

"It's an extra-planar bar," Derek muttered.

The woman was getting on even his nerves at the moment.

"There's more to the galaxy than your one planet," he explained.

"Ambrosia" She said to Maxine, before she held up a half full glass of emerald green liquid. "It's not exactly anything terribly elegant." She said, before the Waiter placed a full bottle of Ambrosia on the table.

"Thanks..." She said as she slipped a 50 cubit bill into the waiter's pocket.

Éclaire then looked quizzically at Maxine. "You don't get out much, do you?" She said, leaning in with a rather coy look on her face. "Because we're kinda a household name in these parts."

"Oh I get out, just not in the households." She replied. She was now drinking lager. Feeling the need to slow down with the liquor. "I just come from an area where vampires still kill and feed off of humans, and I kill them."

She wasn't sure whether she should or shouldn't even be telling them this. Though she no longer resided within the village, it had remained hidden throughout the years on this planet, and she respected it enough to not want it revealed. The fact was, though, she wasn't in Kansas anymore.

"That fact in itself, keeps me out of loop and pretty focused. You know, work-a-holic. I'm sure you get that." She tipped her bottle, "Considering your at a bar in uniform. Who does that? Do you really love your job so much that you spend your personal time representing them?" She didn't mean any disrespect at all.

Éclaire shrugged. "So you're a Vampire hunter? Creatures like that were purged by the old Confederation Government eons ago.. but now we have the Ordo Malleus and the Ordo Hereticus, specific branches tasked with hunting down demons, heretics, and other creatures that could harm the Empire." She explained.

"To be fair." She said, sipping her Ambrosia. "I just got off work, I was working down at the Imperial Consulate, and then I'm going back on duty to respond to a call in the Empire."

She was curious as to where exactly there was still a place that had Vampires, since any new Vampire sightings in the Empire were quickly stamped out by the Ordo Malleus.

"Our Government is very... intolerant of non humans, and especially creatures that feed from humans."
