Brief Background: Exp knows barely anything of their past. They know what they looked like before this vaguely. So he knows he must have had sight before, though he can't really remember colors. They remember seering pain and needles all to well. He remembers the pain of a cruel man stitching his eyes up and the smell of spearmint on them. He escaped when they started to expermint on his rat friends after they discovered he could speak to them. He broke through the bars, his rat friends leading the way. He killed a worker stealing their hoodie as he put it on and dashed away the sirens blaring.

Exp dashes down the walled area, the sounds told them that the sky is above them and walls were to either side of them. The three squeaks of rats could be heard by them, one on their shoulder, the other besides them and one behind them. “You don’t see them?” he asks as they sniff the air carefully, yet this…place masked a lot of odors.
He turn the corner one of their clawed feet hit the ground. The being known as Exp is…odd to say the least. Their hair pitch black seems to have feathers and bug wings growing from it, his tan face seemingly normal though his eyes could not be seen, however their canines did look….deadlier than humans.
That is where the semblance of human ends though, his neck is scaly as well as their torso, their arms, a patch work of scales in a diamond pattern and his fingers elongated like a lizards with claws at the end. Most of their legs are covered by jeans, but their feet are odd once more looking like a lizards crossed with a predators cat with small tufts of fur peeking out of the edges of the scales.
The rats squeak again saying they spied no one as Exp nods and heads on out, hoping they had lost them. He did not smell any peppermint nearby so he knew he lost one.

Another was dashing down the same area, though it was in the complete opposite direction. With eyes behind them, the kid mercenary hadn't thought to keep aware of what was in front of them.

After all, it wasn't like people popped out when you weren't looking, right?

It wasn't until the very last second that the youth turned around, then slowed to a dangerous skid that had them nearly toppling forward. "Jesus Christ!" shouted a robotic voice through a bulky gasmask, which concealed the half of their face below the eyes. A leathery strap kept it firmly in place and disappeared into the spiky brown hair behind the kid's head. The merc reached for something in their sweater, panicked. "The hell are you!?" spat the same voice to the rat boy in front of them.

Exp heard the sound of footsteps and skidding as the stop themselves from running into the person. The one they almost ran into breathing seemed...different, muffling it. The smell of sweat clung to them as Exp turns their head in their direction, they smelled human though...which was not much of a comfort to Exp.

The shout makes Exp flinch, he hated loud noises...his hearing was sensitive after all. "Please not so loud." he comments a bit absentmindedly as he tries to keep his senses open, he hears the sound of cloth being rustled as h frowns. "I...don't know." Expl answers honestly as the three rats squeak. "Yes I know...but they aren't here now and I don't smell spearmint or peppermint." Exp tells the rats. "Look I...don't mean anyone harm I promise."

The kid held up a gloved hand, taking a step back from the... the whatever Exp was. "Me... neither." They tossed a chin over their shoulder to make sure nothing was coming, and sure enough, it was empty. For now.

"Hey, are you running from the cops, too?" asked the merc. "Because if you are... well, shit, I thought they was coming after me."

Exp tilts his head, "Well seems we are in the same boat or similar ones." He tells them as the rats keep looking behind him, squeaking again, "...good they aren't here." he whispers his shoulders slumping in relief.

"Cops? I...well could be I am running from the ones with the needles and the man who smells of spearmint and peppermint." he offers. "I thought they were after me...why would they be after you?" He asks them as they place a clawed hand on the wall near them.

"... well. I haven't got much of a sense of smell anymore, but if they were in blue suits and black pants with guns, yeah. Yeah, those'd be them. Not sure about... needles." The youth's eyes kept skipping down the alley, then back at Exp suspiciously, then at the rats. "So what're you, a rat whisperer? And something else? Gods and prophets know I've seen some shit, but there's never enough to see here in Wing City, is there?" They pulled their hand away from their jacket.

"Why are they after me? Uh..." They wiping a hand on their jacket, leaving a streak of blood unbeknownst to them. "No reason, kid. Don't worry about it."

"I don't know what they wear anymore...I think last I saw they had pale blue clothing...though one had a white coat." He offers, "I can't see anymore." he explains, "Eh? Oh yeah I guess, I just understand them and they me." He offers. Is that what this place is called?" he inquires.

Exp chuckles, "Many people aren't into that I think." he explains as he hears him mention a manicure, "That...I don't think will help." he comments thinking Zen was serious.

"They are my eyes. Their names are Ratticus, Ratfink and Ratcliffe...I can hear and smell very well, but with the many other scents here it is hard to figure out the individual ones unless they are strong." he offers as he sniffs the air for a new scent, he frowns as his ears pick up something in the distance...running it sounds like, the smell of humans, dust, sweat and the city. "I smell people and hear them, they are coming closer." he warns the kid.
