Jack Reed's Story

Into the bar came a tall, slightly lanky lad. He was nicely toned, but not bulky, and his eyes were distinctly Asian, tilted upward a bit and almond-shaped. His hair was pitch black and his hair fell just below his ears, jutting down like spikes. His skin was so tan it was golden, and his attire was quite casual. Brown cargo pants, a loose shirt, a black leather jacket, and chains hanging from his belt hoop into a pocket. Rebellious, yes, but comfortable.

He took his first look around in Gambits. It was only recently that he had come to Wing City at all, and it was quite different from where he had come from. No radiation level warnings, no Scrapers, and no misfits.
Well, there were a lot of misfits. Scratch that, because he was one of them.

Jack Reed went over to the counter, looking and studying anyone who came into his gaze, raising an eyebrow and shrugging.
Well, they weren't radiated, were they? As long as they weren't, it was fine with him. There seemed to be someone wounded, but they were being taken care from. They didn't need any attention from him.
He sat himself on a stool and waved down a bartender. He asked for some strange, alcoholic drink, and hunched forward, placing his elbows on the counter. "Quite busy in this place, aint it? Int'restin'."

If Koinu was walking about this Jack, he would have been horribly mistaken. Jack never went to High School. He came from an earth that had been nearly destroyed by a nuclear war, and was only now beginning to come alive again.
Which is why he was constantly afraid of radiation.
It made sense to be, as well. He didn't take horrible notice of Amy and Koinu, but he did note them in the back of his mind. A chick with dog ears, and a guy with blue hair.
Jack's first thought was that he dyed it. Lots of people in Gadget did that.

Jack caught the stare out from his peripheral vision, and turned to stare back, though only for a second. He looked to the bartender and received his drink, which he drank very thankfully because he was parched, and turned to look again at that slim blue-haired lad.

Oh, but that wasn't it! Not at all! Some girl, Amy, with the dog ears, was looking at the blue-haired lad!
Was there some sort of staring contest going on?
Something he didn't understand?
Should he be...staring at the girl...?

Jack Reed really wasn't in the position to do something like that. By god, he was there to have a drink, not have a pistol duel!
He didn't even own a pistol. Not right then, anyway. He did wonder why the two looked so tense.
He offered a little wave and raised his beer.
"...cheers?" He said to them, trying to say at least something to break the tension. If it worked, he would be amazed.

Jack Reed sighed, not paying much attention to the Golem, though he knew full well it was there. He was wary of it.
When Any took out her gun, and Koinu his knife, Jack placed his beer carefully on the table. "Now, now, can't we talk this though? We don't need a fight. I'm sure this blue-haired lad isn't going to shank you anytime soon if you do not shook him, Miss Ears." He said to them.
Ridiculous.
What was their problem>

Jack Reed sat at the other side of the bar, drinking a beer and leaning his head back on the wall. He looked over at the other patron, raised a brow, but said nothing at all.

Outside of Gambits bar, the hiss of a force lifter engine could be heard, like a contented sigh after a cup of hot chocolate in the winter. It lingered for a while, then died down, leaving the chatter of Gambits the only sound in the area.

The thumping of boots would then be heard, and into the bar came a young man in his twenties. He was dressed rather rebelliously, with his black leather jacket and chains hanging from his pockets and belt strings. Upon his head, burying itself into his black hair, were his aviator goggles. A grin painted his face.
"Well, this place is as crazy as home," he said with a smile.

Outside of Gambits, the furious sigh of force lifters could be heard, and a soft blue light glowed outside of the doors, reflecting on the walls. Soon, the sigh calmed, then all became silent.
That is, until heavy boots thumped onto the bar floors as Jack Reed opened the doors and entered. He was a tallish guy, his black hair spiked, a grin painted on his lightly tanned face. Upon his head were aviator goggles. He was dressed as rebelliously as the rest of his gang- chains hanging from his pocket and belt loops, his jacket made of leather, and buttons and pockets filling every space.
He looked quite snazzy, he thought.

"Well, I can teach you a lot. The hand gesture is actually used in the army a lot- but I use it as a greeting. Kinda like a wave, you know?"
He doubted she probably did. She must be some type of AI drone, like back at home. Except...amazingly pretty and not robotic-looking.

"Anythin' else you'd like to know, darlin'?"

"Strange machine?" Asked Jack, scratching the back of his head. "Well, um...the cars or my hoverbike? Oh, if it's right outside it must be the hoverbike!" He exclaimed. "Yeah, it's like a motorbike, but...um. It flies? Do you even know what a motorbike is?"
He doubted this, as well.
"It's my personal transportation vehicle. Goes very fast. Stealthy, too."

Jack Reed raised an eyebrow as the symbols on her head shined. He turned his head to the side, ever so slightly, and pursed his lips.
Well, all AI's were strange to a point...
"Ah, good, then! So...tell me, what are you, exactly? A robot? What model, then?"

"An alien!" Exclaimed Jack, eyes getting wide. He stood tall, back straight, head tilted backwards. "Well, things just became a whole lot more interesting, then...I suppose they all look like you? Human? Or are you wearing a guise of some sort?" He inquired, pulling up a chair. "If you would join me, I'd love to have a little chat with you."

"Ah...I see. Well, that's...that's good to know. I guess. Yeah..." Jack went on, not sure if she was getting at something or not. Well, she seemed innocent enough. She couldn't have been thinking about such things...
"Yes, a chat is a conversation. Y'all call yourself 'DearS,' eh? There must be some serious backstory to this. Or summin..."
At times, Jack's accent seemed southern, other times New Yorkian, and at some points, some decent of an Asian language. It changed constantly.
It was a little confusing.

Jack stared for the longest time. He blinked once, but that was only because his eyes started to sting from being open.
Finally, he opened his mouth to speak. "Jack," he said slowly. "My name is Jack Reed. I suppose I just call you Ren? It would be a lot easier for me..."
He tried to say her name over in his head.
'Ren Ren Ren....was there another ren? Nagusa...something. Shit. Forget it. Ren. That's her name. Just Ren,' he commented in his mind, furrowing his brow.

"Don't be embarrassed, really. And don't worry about, ah...sharing too much information. It's alright. Really."
She's so very strange...

"Of course, ask all the questions you like. I'll be happy to answer them if I can," he told her politely, fiddling with the chain at his waist. It made a small jangling sound, but it wasn't terribly loud.
"And you may just call me Jack. Last names aren't immedietly important when addressing someone else." He informed her. "Would you like a drink? Can you even drink?"

"You know, you don't have to keep saying 'Ren' every time. That's called referring to yourself in first person. You can say 'I'," he informed her again, giving her a tiny smile. This girl certainly was interesting, to say the least...
"This?" He said, rattling the chains. "It's a fashion statement. It means it looks good. Not arrested or owned at all!"

"Well, not all the time, but if you think so, then I cannot force you to think otherwise," he said, eyes lining her forehead, looking at the symbols. He sighed deeply and shrugged. "They're not cold when you have a lining of pants between your kin and the chains," he said once more. It was feeling like a conversation, at least. Not a normal one, but a conversation all the same. He quite liked this.

"Um...not that I know of, Ren. The only way I control gravity is using the hoverbike. The thrill is amazing...the wind through your hair, the rush! But...I suppose you don't like things like that, do you?" He asked. She seemed like a reasonably docile girl. "Not fond of fear, or adrenaline rushes? I guess you'd like adventure, however..."

"Ah, good to hear...but...you can fly? Just like that?" He snapped his fingers, as if it were that easy. Her smile made him give a small laugh.
Suddenly, however, he got up, something on his belt blinking. He looked at Ren and bowed his head in apology. "Forgive me! I need to go!" he said as he rushed out the door.

nto Gambits did three boys come, all with brass goggles atop their heads, same make, but different style, and all with some type of black hair upon their head. The first was Gian Gray, the futuristic elf with pointed ears and darling blue eyes. The next was Jack Reed, the leader of the Scouts and a tall gentleman with slanted eyes and a head of shaggy black hair.
And the third was Ace Young, the effeminate Runner with a pointed chin and a long black ponytail.
They walked in casually, and Jack whistled playfully at both the ladies before all three went to the counter together.

The boys sat themselves, Ace catching the gaze of the woman with the terribly pallid skin and hair that was contrasted so much it was like night to day. His eyes lingered for only a second before Jack took up one of the holomenu's and scanned the drinks. "What'll it be, boys? First time together in this place and not having to protect the little ill one!" He exclaimed happily. He gazed at Rosabelia for half a second, winking teasingly.
What a guy.

Gian piped up and shrugged Jack over, pushing him to the side. "What's to drink!" He said, scrolling down the menu before Jack placed his hand on his head and pushed him over. "Hey, hey, patience!"

Ace was probably the only one to note Elim, as Ace was usually patient and observing. He gave him a strange look. Who usually came into a bar just to sleep?

Jack looked at Rosabilia with the exact same expression as Ari, laughing a little to himself because most young boys would find something like that amusing.
Well, no. Only Jack. Because one of his nicknames was 'Jack-Ass'.
For good reason, too.

The boys all huddled around the holomenu, Ace not leaning in nearly as much as the other two. By god, if the boy was wearing a dress and was crossing his legs, most would take him to be a pretty little girl with slightly broad shoulders and a flat chest.
Just like Charlotte.

"Beer! Beer! Beer!" Chanted Gian and Jack, Ace looking behind him to watch as Firecloud flicked a fry at Elim.
He held back a snicker.

The elven Gadget member, Gian, looked in the direction of Rosabilia next, just as a bottle of beer was put into his hand by Jack. The bottle was cold, dripping with condensation and slippery in his fingers. He clenched it tightly, looking at the woman with large blue eyes.
However, his attention was taken away as Jack nearly spilled beer all over his front. Gian punched him in the arm with a snicker and turning the bottle upward.
Jack and Ace did the same. It didn't matter that they were all underage...
Gambits gave out drinks to everyone in the world!

The boys laughed and spoke amongst themselves, looking about every once in a while, nudging each other and saying quick little comments about various patrons, such as Claire, Elim, 09 and the Jackal-thing.
"Strange bunch, eh?" Jack said, taking a long gulp out of his bottle.
