Personality: A dark past haunts this particular Cinccino...a dark past that leaves him filled with hate and not much else. His own trials and tribulations growing up didn't help, but it was a particular event that drives Liam to the unthinkable extremes. When he stares at someone, it's like steel in his eyes, like he can't possibly feel anything anymore. There's a primal anger lurking there...and very few people have ever seen it unleashed. Those who have can only describe it as an unrelenting attack without mercy. On an inner level, he's actually more torn to bits and emotionally unhinged. But he won't let others see that side of him. When he's quiet, he's unfeeling and unnerving and when he's loud...he's a killer. Through and through.

Strengths: Liam is driven by hard, cold anger. He will strike without hesitation and without any kind of regard to mannerisms. If he's attacking, he'll do so quick enough to rock any opponent off their feet.

Liam wields a sword, completely changing the dynamic of combat against him in many ways. Not only is his offensive maneuverability unpredictable from this added component in his arsenal, but he has a boosted attack power behind his sword strokes.

Liam is merciless. Stone cold...stone heart. He will not hesitate to kill and is to the point emotionally where he feels nothing for it. Do not be on the sharp end of his sword, because he will swing if you're in his way.

Weaknesses: Liam's lack of compassion makes him a distant fellow to other advice and has him completely shutting out other theories or ideas. Any mistake is his to make, regardless of what other people consider.

Liam's anger makes him vulnerable to reacting at jeers and taunts towards him...usually violently. He's an easy individual to manipulate and can easily be goaded into traps and inescapable situations.

Liam's anger sets him up as a glass cannon...all power and no defense. His speed is a primary component in his ferocity, but it'll only take two or three hits to bring him down, guaranteed.

Moveset:
Shadow Rush (Shadow-Type) A damage dealing Physical move. The user executes a tackle while exuding a shadowy aura.

Rock Blast (Rock-Type) A damage dealing Physical move. The user hurls hard rocks at the target. Two to five rocks are launched in a row.

Bullet Seed (Grass-Type) A damage dealing Physical move. The user forcefully shoots seeds at the target two to five times in a row.

Tail Slap (Normal-Type) A damage dealing Physical move. The user attacks by striking the target with its hard tail. It hits the target two to five times in a row.

Shadow Shed (Shadow-Type) A non damage dealing Status move. A shadowy aura eliminates Reflect and similar moves.

Work Up (Normal-Type) A non damage dealing Status move. The user is roused, and its Attack and Sp. Atk stats increase.

So begins...

"Hello? Maxin? Anyone?"

Touko's voice carried into the cavern, echoing across the walls until they ceased to be heard. The sword clanged and clattered against the rock surface with every smack she gave it. But the answer was empty. No voice called back. No other sound could be heard besides her own. Even the excess Pokemon remained silent as they stayed hidden from her, not wanting to have anything to do with the former Regional Champion. Perhaps that Max Repel wasn't necessary...they were scared enough to stay within the shadows.

And then Touko would hear something. Tiny footsteps and sniffling. The blue lights radiating from the glowing stones could only grant her so much vision. She wouldn't be able to see what it was. But it was there. Activity, at last. The footsteps were slow and seemingly rugged. And they seemed to be getting closer to Touko.

Being able to sense when a fellow Trainer wanted to offer a challenge on the road, the same hearing that served her well when trying to fill out her Pokédex, the instinctual sense to just stop dulling the blade on the rocks...all this led to Touko hearing the soft footsteps. Naturally, she reacted as any well-honed Trainer would. Immediately turn to face the noise, then toss out her lead Pokémon for protection. In this case, the cave-dwelling Terrakion appropriately named Dweller. The grizzled veteran had warned the Crimson Guild of shit getting real back in Nimbasa...so whether it wanted to talk or fight, both of them would be ready.

This creature wouldn't do either.

As it stepped into view, the first thing that Touko would notice was that it was hurt. Not in too many places, but it clutched it's chest as it walked forward slowly. It's typically well-groomed hair was dirty and disheveled. But most heart wrenching of all, it's black beady eyes were filled with tears...tears that represented more than the pain the Cinccino probably felt in that moment of time. It glanced up at Touko, a longing sense of dread in it's eyes. It had answered Touko's call.

"Whoa, Dweller, hold up. Looks like one of the Pokémon that got displaced by the blaster. See what you can get out of him, the poor thing. Might even have to catch him, get him to a center."

The Terrakion was no stranger to such things. "Greetings, friend," it rumbled in something that sounded like a cave echo to the Cinccino. "Is it the mechanical monstrosity that brings you here? My human friend here wishes to help. She is seeking to defeat those that operate such an unnatural thing. I can attest that she cares for Pokémon quite well. What say you?"

Dweller shook its massive head. "Such a shame. We came looking for another by the name of Maxin. Do you know where he might be found? We bear one of his possessions."

"Uh...Dweller...I think we need to get this little guy back to Mistralton. He looks hurt," Touko interjected, getting down on one knee. "Here. I always pack a few potions on me, but you need it more than he does."

"Don't say that name!" the Cinccino cried suddenly covering his ears and curling up into a ball, "Please!"

Touko and Dweller could see the Cinccino shaking, it's eyes shut with tears streaming. It recovered slowly when Touko knelt beside him, a potion at the ready. It opened it's eyes slowly, staring up at Touko. He shook a little less.

"Huh? It's using Defense Curl? What...what's happening?"

Dweller knew all too well. "This human...she is not like the one who hurt you. You can trust her. We will take care of you first, then we will deal with the monster. There must be others like you, displaced from their homes by that thing. Protection of innocents comes before pursuit. I know she smells like Repel, but it's better than staying here. I can hardly stand it myself." A gentle nudge with its large, sweeping horns prompted Touko to apply the ointment.

"All right, little one, where does it hurt? I'll get you all fixed up..."

The Cinccino took a moment to consider his options. Finally, with the addition of drying his tears, he nodded at Dweller. "Okay..."

When Touko asked him about where it hurt, he pointed at his chest, "The Aura Sphere hit me here..."

"Hm. I've seen this before. Looks like an Aura Sphere." Recalling what happened with the weird psychic squid, she elected to recall Dweller in favor of Drifter, knowing that a powerful fighting-type user was at large. "Can you walk? I can carry you if not, Cinccino. Tell your friends to sit tight, I don't have enough to heal everybody...actually, don't. Whatever did this to you is still around. He might hear us...or worse, come for his sword. Dweller, you're an expert in underground fighting, so I'm going to leave the sword with you. If this dude comes for it, you will confront him. Drifter, you carry Cinccino like you carry me when surfing. Let's get out of here."

One last loud clanging, followed by footfalls like Touko was running from an unnecessary battle with a wild Pokémon.

The Cinccino shut his eyes and tried to prevent more tears to form at the mentioning of "friends". When the potion was applied, he definitely felt better physically, which helped keep him sane. Or at least sane enough to hop on Drifter's back and allow himself to be carried through Chargestone Cave. He couldn't even bother to correct her on what happened or tell her that nothing would likely be chasing her. He'd encountered that Fighting-Type what seems like days ago, even though it was only hours earlier. And it definitely wasn't the cause of his current grief. Nothing could compare to that.

As Touko ran through Chargestone Cave, presumably back to Mistralton City, he couldn't help but yawn. All the tears he had to endured...the sleepless night...continuing to walk despite his injuries and his emotional burdens...the exhaustion of these activities fell upon him in one fair swoop. Drifter's back suddenly felt a lot more comfortable and he couldn't stay awake any longer.

The next time he went to blink, the Cinccino fell asleep.

Skyla scratched the back of her head with an index finger as she examined the dusty map. "Hmm...you want me to fly near the Alola Region?" she asked the dreadlocked teen while drumming her fingers on the table, her sharp eyes glancing through the hazy map Radegast provided. After a moment, she whipped around and approached a bookshelf behind her. From Radegast's standpoint, it looked a bit convoluted, many books of many different sizes and girths in the slots and giving it a quite messy outlook. Radegast could also guess that most of the books contained stuff about flying and aviation in general. Skyla's finger went straight to a large piece of paper wedged between a book about flying Pokemon and a mechanical guide to a Boeing 757. As she took it back to the table, Radegast would also likely notice that it was folded, giving him the impression of what it was...a map.

"Let's see..." Skyla murmured as she unfolded the map to reveal a comprehensive map of Ruula. "We're here," she pointed towards the Unova region's northwestern side, towards a dot labeled as Mistralton City. "And you want me to go...here," her finger moved across the map in a straight line towards the coordinates Radegast provided. "That's a pretty hefty distance you want me to fly though. It may be too far out of the way for me to reach..." she admitted the last part as she analyzed further, judging distance and deciding where she could afford to make a pit stop. It wasn't like airports were too much of a thing in the Unova Region. She had the only one. And she wasn't sure if the Alola Region had one.

"Why all the way out here?" Skyla asked in genuine curiosity, her piercing blue eyes locking with Radegast's own pair, "Most trainers on the Gym Challenge go to Oelupid City next."

Skyva and Sophie would suddenly hear some chattering going on in the direction Skyva wanted to go. It was faint, but it was there. Something was in the clearing that Radegast and Skyva had previously occupied last night.

"Urrrk..."

That was the noise the Cinccino made when it blinked it's eyes open slightly. He was still very tired. He hadn't slept for very long...maybe a half hour? His injuries had definitely healed to some extent. There was definitely some soreness and he'd find that he wasn't at a hundred percent quite yet. Nevertheless, he began to awaken a bit more, stretching some stiff muscles as he took in his surroundings.

He was still in Chargestone Cave, he realized, the blue hue of the environment being his first clue. Only...he hadn't been sleeping on the ground, where it was dirty and uncomfortable. He was resting on something...soft. Looking down below him, he'd find the hovering form of a Jellicent still underneath him, examining their surroundings.

"Gah!" he cried as he quickly toppled off the floating Ghost-type creature, landing hard on his rear. The noise he made was sudden and loud, echoing throughout the cavern. As he looked around more, eyes now fully wide and mind alert, he caught the glance of Dweller, the one who had spoke with him earlier. The Terrakion was also keeping a keen eye towards the darkness, looking for something...or someone. The girl hadn't come back yet.

"Sorry," he muttered to Drifter, "You kind of scared me there." His gaze then shifted to the Terrakion, confusion in his eye, "Are you waiting for that girl to come back?"

Skyla remained silent, her eyes looking over the map, yet not finding their way to Radegast. Although her look was crisp, her contemplative finger on her chin told everyone in that hangar office that she was thinking. Finally, she took a deep breath, flipped her hair back, and told it to him straight.

"It'll be hard. A long, turbulence-filled journey awaits both of us. No pit stops along the way. But...a promise is a promise. And I'm gonna make sure you keep this one."

As Skyva and Sophie made their way closer and closer to the clearing, the voices could be heard better. Whatever belonged to those voices were also speaking in PokeSpeak.

"Did you find anything?" a bold voice called.

"No." came the lax reply.

"I don't get it. What kind of power is this thing packing?"

"I don't know. Crimson said the one he took on wasn't nearly as big or powerful as this one. He's not sure what powers it."

"Do you think it's fire? The trees have scorch marks on them."

"Could be. But that's a lot of fire to completely vaporize trees like that. What could power it."

"Maybe they collected a hundred Fire Stones or something."

"I'm pretty sure it would take more than a hundred Fire Stones to create a beam this big."

When Skyva and Sophie had their eyes on the clearing, they could see the Pokemon the two voices belonged to. The bolder voice belonged to a Litleo while the more relaxed voice came from a Skiddo, both wearing blue scarves around their necks with a pink design on it. Neither had noticed the two newcomers spectating them. Both were staring at the clearing that had been made last night. In the daylight, the scene was incredibly vivid. The light illuminated the circle in the forest the Master Blaster had carved. It was carved at an upwardly diagonal path, so the cylindrical clearing it made slowly went up as it progressed further and further. The treetops were visible about a couple miles in the distance. It was a scene that could spark memories for Skyva and leave Sophie's jaw agape.

The Litleo turned to the Skiddo, sighing as he did so, "Welp, if there's nothing here, then maybe Team Vitality found something at the other site."

"I dunno," the Skiddo replied, "I think we should look around some more. We might miss something."

"No, you just want to eat the Unovan grass," the Litleo accused.

The Skiddo chuckled, "You know me so well..."

"Wait!" the Cincinno reached out as the girl took Dweller and Drifter and began running back towards her destination, "Maxin isn't..."

But she was already gone before she could hear the rest of what he had to say. The Cinccino was alone once more. Sighing in frustration and trying hard to keep the tears from flowing again, he closed his eyes and racked his brain.

Think, Liam, think! What would Maxin do?

For a moment, he didn't move. He just looked around and stared down the path he'd just seen the girl run down. And then he noticed something shiny beneath his feet. When he looked down, he saw that the girl had left the sword there. It reflected the light of the cavern and it was virtually undamaged. It was at that moment that he made a decision. He couldn't wait in this cave any longer. He had to take action. He had his strength back, thanks to the girl. He wasn't at a hundred percent, but he could at least make it out of the cave. From there...who knew? But he'd figure it out. Just like Maxin did.

His eyes suddenly becoming hard and focused, he strode on, picking up the sword as he went. He dragged the blade behind him as he went, making a rattling noise while he did so. It felt heavy in his hand for now, but he could learn to get used to it's feel. And then maybe...just maybe he could learn to use it one day.

But until then, he kept walking, making a right as he proceeded to backtrack his way towards the entrance.

"Don't bother," came a steely response from the treeline just above them. When the three girls turned to look up, they would find a Cinccino staring back at them. His eyes were filled with much hurt locked away behind an angry face, a very harsh difference in comparison to the blubbering mess Touko had found a day ago. It held the same messy and unkempt appearance unseen in a Cinccino, but instead of sadness in his face, it held hate. It held intense...searing...throbbing hate that seemed to encompass his aura. And he was wielding a sword...the sword that Maxin owned. Touko might remember at this moment that she had left it in the cave.

And while Touko and Sophie may or may not have known PokeSpeak...Skyva did. So when this Cinccino dropped down from the tree and approached the only person he recognized out of the three, the story he would tell would rock Skyva to the core.

"I know what happened," Liam said without emotion.

The Martyr

“Mmmmm…”

His sense of hearing was what he focused on first, the sounds of the trees moving in the wind in his notice first.

“Hrrnn?”

His left eye squinted open first, catching a glimpse of the softer ground he was laying on. Already he felt comfort in not moving or shifting his body, but for his own curiosity’s sake, he had to come to. A slight stir of his belly already told him he felt stiff and he needed to shake that feeling off. Slowly, he tried to use his arms to lift himself up to a downward facing dog style.

“Hmmm-URK!”

Instantly, he felt a searing pain in the middle of his chest as he fought to lift himself up. His right hand instinctively clutched the sore spot, leaving the left hand to support all his weight…which wasn’t a good idea. The next thing he knew, he was face down in the dirt again, moaning. It had been a long time since he had to recover from injuries naturally, he thought. Recently, he’d had the help of the PokeBall to heal quickly. Ever since Maxin-

Wait! Liam’s mind suddenly screamed at him, fully alert. Where was Maxin? Where was Skyva and Radegast and all their Pokemon? Hell, where was he? Ignoring the pain from the sudden surge of adrenaline, he shot up like a rocket and took in his surroundings. He was in a different part of the forest, resting underneath a bush of all places. How had he gotten there? To his right was a large clearing that had a lot of footsteps trampled in the dirt, too many to count the number of Pokemon that had to have been there. But what was more concerning than the amount of Pokemon that had been in the area was the lack of Pokemon in the area currently. Not a creature stirred besides him. It was like everyone congregated for something and then fled the area entirely.

And then all thoughts of the creepy factor flew out the window when Liam spotted the massive circular carving in the woods that seemed to span for a mile. Okay, that was the most concerning thing to see here, he decided. But who or what had caused such a blast to happen? And why?

His first order of business was to find Maxin, however, which he didn’t see any trace of nearby. So he wandered from the clearing. Or, more accurately, swayed and shambled from tree to tree. He was still very weak and very vulnerable. He just didn’t have the strength to hold himself steady. And yet, he found the determination to keep going. He had to know what happened and where everyone went.

As he fought to keep going, he tried to back track in his mind to what he remembered. Skyva was lost…that much was certain. Radegast and Maxin had gone looking for her. They’d stumbled into a tombstone where they found Surf. And then…they were attacked. Now he could see it, clear as day, the Aura Sphere being hurtled at him from the darkness…the last thing he saw before walking up just then. The pain in his chest was the remnants of such a powerful attack being brought down upon him. And it still hurt.

But he still kept going. He didn’t keep track of time. He didn’t keep track of footprints. He didn’t even have a destination in mind or a place to begin looking. It took all of his concentration to keep moving as it was. He was just stumbling around and hoping he got lucky enough to find someone.

And then he heard voices. Most of them were celebratory, jesting, taunting…but there was one defiant voice in there, a voice Liam recognized. A ten year old boy’s voice who was retorting all kinds of insults at these other voices surrounding him.

A boy he knew as Maxin.

Now Liam had much more drive to follow the crowd of voices as he fought on, even managing a shambled jog to try and catch up. He wasn’t thinking about stealth or a plan of attack. He was thinking about figuring out what was going on and why Maxin was in trouble. Luckily, the others were making enough noise to mask his own. So he pressed on.

A few minutes later, he was near a larger-than-life looming tower. The sound of moving feet stopped, but the noises continued. Liam was thankful for that as it allowed for him to catch up while remaining quiet. As he got closer, he became aware of his own footsteps and softened them. Sure enough, the voices died down suddenly as one voice in particular took charge. There was a slight tone of threatening playfulness in his dialogue, but nothing could deny the boiling anger that spat off his tongue in Common.

“You’ve caused us a lot of trouble tonight, boy.”

As if he needed the added dialogue to confirm his worries, Liam knew who the boy they were talking about was. And when he peered through the trees from a safe distance, he could see the head of his trainer giving a defiant stare back. Through the torn and battle weary clothing he wore, the disheveled hair, and the trickle of blood running down the side of his head, Maxin was hardly recognizable. But he had those green eyes, that high spirit shining through the bleakness. And with it, the boy managed a smirk of satisfaction towards a very peeved looking Zoroark.

“Good. Cause you kind of deserve it.”

The Lucario standing behind Maxin immediately slapped him, sending a cold chill down Liam’s spine as he remembered the ever so present burning pain in his chest for some reason. Surrounding the boy was a cast of unpleasant Pokemon, some of them Steel or Fairy type. There was a greater majority of Ghost and Dark-Types. But most, if not all, carried a bit of Psychic-Type with them. He could feel it in the atmosphere. That energy alone was enough to leave his heart thumping. The Zoroark was giving off an intense aura as well, amplifying the feeling of fear he felt. Or was that the weird stone on his necklace? He also noticed that neither Skyva nor Radegast or any of their Pokemon were by his side. Skyva had been lost to begin with, he remembered, but where was Radegast?

“Now…” the Zoroark continued, “I know you know about the whereabouts of Radegast. So I would like for you to tell me where he is. It’ll be much easier on you this way, I promise.” A slow smirk glistened in the darkness.

But Maxin didn’t seem to be intimidated at all by this, “I don’t, actually.”

“Oh, really? Somehow I don’t believe you.”

“Honest to Arceus.” Maxin’s face held a slight edge of satisfaction in it as the Zoroark began to pace.

“You made a diversion somehow. You sent them off somewhere while you took the route to Chargestone. It was actually quite brilliant of you, I must commend. You had all the scenarios prepared, didn’t you?”

Maxin’s face showed puzzlement for the first time, “Not sure what you mean by that.”

“Well, you obviously sniffed out the ambush we had set up for you in Chargestone Cavern.” Zane had approached the boy’s side and began raking a claw across his cheek, soft enough to where it didn’t dig into the skin, but enough to cause Maxin visible discomfort, “How else would you have known to split off when we came after you?”

But Maxin just shrugged, “I took precautions, but honestly…I didn’t know you were over there.”

Almost immediately, there was a violent outburst from the Zoroark, his foot smashing into the ground and making a large imprint, a couple inches behind Maxin. “But you know where you directed them. You had a rendezvous point planned out. So you know where they’re headed, don’t you?”

This time Maxin was silent. Liam could see the restraint in his eyes as he lowered them slightly. The Zoroark’s sinister grin grew a bit wider.

“Aha! So you do know where they’re heading,” the Zoroark paused, letting it sink it Maxin’s head before continuing, “Tell ya what. I may even let the girl go. She was just a way for me to lure him into the forest. All I really want is Radegast.” His eyes shined with the proposition.

But when Maxin spoke next, his own anger took over. “You don’t get it. I’m NOT telling you where he is. He’s too important to me. He’s too important to his dysfunctional family and to his fractured friends. He’s too important to this world, whether he wants to believe he is or not. And I don’t ever give up on my friends. Never.” He shot a glare at the Zoroark with that last word, who was no longer smiling.

“Well your friends seem to have given up on you,” the Zoroark quipped as he reached towards his necklace and rubbed the black stone attached to it. And then, from the ranks of Pokemon, emerged three more faces Liam recognized…the faces of Snips, Smashball, and Dalia. Their steely and unblinking gaze already gave the Cinccino the impression that something was wrong. They all looked pretty normal. But as Liam squinted, he began to notice a black ring around their eyes, one that wasn’t there when he saw them last. He shivered from their cold, blank stare.

"Snips? Buddy?" Maxin managed to croak out.

“Let’s try this again,” the Zoroark ignore Maxin as he went on, much more menace in his tone, “You’re gonna tell me where Radegast is heading…or I’m gonna sick your own wolfpack on you.” Liam gasped silently as he took in what he was saying. Snips and company was on his side now?

There was much more hesitation in his voice when Maxin replied, “B-Bring it…”

The Zoroark stopped for a moment, looked around at the crowd assembled, glanced towards the three Pokemon that were now under his control, turned back to Maxin, and snapped his fingers.

What happened next could only be described as vicious.

Maxin’s former Pokemon didn’t even seem to hesitate as they charged forward with sudden fury, Snips delivering a Vine Whip towards Maxin’s arm while Smashball using Smack Down to send the boy flying backwards. Maxin made a noise of pain as his back bounced against the ground, then a yelp of surprise as Dalia’s claw emerged from the ground to slice into his arm. Staggering to his feet as quick as he could manage, he only had time to take a step before Snips was back on him with a Slam into his chest so hard Liam could’ve sworn it broke a couple ribs. As Maxin scrambled across the ground, the crowd of Pokemon around him began to grow more and more rowdy as they watched with glee. Frantically, he drew his sword and held it out against Snips who was advancing slowly. Liam could see the hesitation in his eyes, the friendship he’d built with the Servine for so long coming forefront as his hand trembled.

Not that it mattered. A quick Rock Slide from Dalia knocked the sword out of his hand when the pile of rocks hit him and buried him from the torso down, the glint of steel landing in the grass beside him. He tried to claw for it, but Smashball laid the Smack Down on him again, this time directing his rocky and boulder-like surface onto his arm, crushing it underneath the monstrous weight. Liam would never forget the howl of pain Maxin uttered from his lips that evening.

Finally, Zoroark stepped forward, rubbing the stone once more. Immediately, the three Pokemon stopped, falling in line until they stood behind the tall red-headed figure once more. Liam couldn’t even bring himself to bear looking at Maxin’s crushed arm, even from far away.

“You got an answer for me?” the Zoroark called once more, seemingly unfazed by the amount of pain he just put this boy through.

Maxin’s own breath shuddered, his voice encompassing agony as he managed to breathe out, “I told them…to go to…Viridian City…”

The Zoroark lifted an inquisitive brow, “Why?”

“Said he…had to get…his family…*wheeze*…had to…stop you.”

The Zoroark scrunched up his nose slightly, “They won’t be able to do anything. Not while I hold all the cards. A wasted effort.”

Maxin actually managed a slight chuckle when he replied, “That’s what…you think…”

“Sonya, you know what to do,” Zane stepped away, only now revealing to Liam the Meowstic standing behind him, smirking with confidence. On her shoulder was a very large machine with steel plating on the outside and a barrel in the center, kind of like a blaster of some kind…a very large blaster. Two Pokemon behind Maxin managed to drag him to his feet, completely disregarding his mangled arm by his side as they did so. Maxin gritted his teeth and groaned as he did so, his chest heaving with each breath he took. Only now was Liam getting the memo that these could be his very last.

“Say your prayers, boy,” the Meowstic said in a cheerfully wicked tone with a wink. She aimed the barrel directly at Maxin and steadied herself. Maxin continued to breathe, not bothering to dodge out of the way, almost as if he was accepting his fate. And Liam himself…he was paralyzed with fear. He wanted to help. He wanted to scream and divert their attention to distract them so Maxin could get away. He wanted to run at full force and push Maxin out of the way. But he couldn’t do it. Even if he wasn’t frozen in place, he wasn’t capable physically of getting there.

There was nothing he could do.

And yet…despite it all…despite imminent destruction staring Maxin down the barrel, Liam could see his trainer manage a smile…a smile of determination directed at the Zoroark.

“We will win…I’ve seen it…”

The Meowstic smirked and pulled the trigger.

Liam watched as a massive beam shot forth, white in color yet sizzling the air with warmth, encompassing Maxin and the trees behind him as it was shot at a slight upward diagonal angle. It was so bright that many a mon would likely have to shield their eyes. The noise was deafening from here, the massive burst of power creating an incredible BOOM! that seemed to blast across the area. The massive beam barely seemed to graze the side of the hill as it journey on, heading over towards Castelia City. Meanwhile, the whiteness began to fade from the area, returning the forest to darkness once more.

Only now when Liam looked back, Maxin was gone. There was no trace of the boy left. Just the smoke drifting up from where the boy had been standing before he was vaporized. Liam suddenly found trouble breathing, his own breath choked up with emotion. His vision became blurry, his own tears suddenly finding the surface. The air smelled suddenly like death.

And when the crowd of Pokemon cheered in celebration, Liam ran towards the mouth of Chargestone Cave, his only sense of composure vaporized with the large blaster-like device on the Meowstic’s shoulders. He wouldn’t dare look back.

Skyva would have a moment to process the information Liam had told her as the Cinccino had to recover from living those events. She would likely see him trembling from the mental strain of it all. The way his fist clenched around the sword like it was his lifeline. What was more surprising, however, was that Liam didn't cry while he told the story...not even once. It was blatant he had shed as much tears as he could manage.

But that didn't stop the cold, blank stare he was giving as he merely stared ahead, his eyes seemingly focused on nothing, like he was lost in his own head...his own memories...

Liam's story about what happened to Maxin left her shocked. She knew Sophie could understand him and had no idea if Touko could, nor did she care right now. She knew all too well the Pokemons that did this and all too well what she would be doing. She didn't need Pokemon to kill another Pokemon, all she needed was a lab.

It was the peak of hatred for all Pokemon for Skyva. She had isolated herself from everyone and everything (Pokemon). Her mother and father were out of town for a conference. Shockingly, after much discussing, her father talked her mother into not getting someone to stay with her for that couple of weeks.

Her mind set wasn’t the best and maybe her mother was right to have someone look after her. She had found her way into her parent’s lab, something she avoided like the plague. It didn’t take long for her to get the idea to come up with a potion to harm Pokemon. She had all she needed there in the lab.

The ingredients mixed were from poisons from Muk, Mega Beedrill, and Tentacruel. It was a high dose, high enough to kill. She made enough to fill three bottles. It was late at night, everyone in her town should have been asleep. So she took that time to hurry out the house and the nearby woods where she knew just the spots where certain small pokemon lived. First she saw a Sunkern, who was sleeping, and threw a potion at it.

The glass shattered letting out a mist of the poison. The Sunkern was startled and couldn't do much as its body froze and seconds later it started coughing before falling over. She waited a while, watching for any sign of life and letting the mist disappear. Taking a step closer she checked and sure enough the Sunkern was dead. She fought the feeling of guilt down with the feeling of accomplishment.

Walking a ways down, further into the woods, she found a Wurmple. It looked cautious, in the opposite direction of her and threw it, not thinking if anyone was out there with her. Just like with the Sunkern, the glass broke and the mist surrounded it. This time the Wurmple let out this horrifying scream before falling over. Waiting again, she checked, and just like the SunKern it was dead.

What she didn't see, better yet who she didn't see, was Sophie. She had been the one trying to catch the Wurmple. She stared in horror at Skyva. The same girl who had loved Pokemon with her brother was now the one murdering them with her own two hands. The anger she felt towards her was buried with fear. She had never seen Skyva's face twisted with such evilness.

Now she scooped up Liam, hugging him in her arms (like Misty and Togepi) and looked at Sophie, "We need to find a lab as soon as possible."

Sophie's eyes moved from the Cinccino to Sophie's face. She didn't see any of that evilness in her eyes, but she did see the anger and could tell she was holding back tears. "W-What for?" She asked.

"I need to make some potions," turning to Touko, "you know of any labs near here?" She asked her. Sophie's eyes went wide. She didn't want to say anything to Skyva in fear of what she would say or do.

"I...er...there's one in Castelia City, where they research the Dream World. I'm not sure what the heck just happened, but something tells me this is my fault. I've kind of been a bitch for the past year or so, and I'm sorry for that. Just...I've been on my own for so long after Cheren and Bianca left to do their thing...it's like I've forgotten how to interact with other people."

Her shoulders drooped, visibly defeated. "But all is not lost. Burgh told me about someone who can help us stop the Blaster. She used to be a Champion herself before something happened and she just stopped being interested in battling. That's who I've been trying to track down. We can't stop the Psychic Rebellion so long as that kind of firepower is available to them, let alone their frigging mind control device."

Shock ran through the Cinccino as Sam hugged him, though no visible emotion shone through on his face. He did close his eyes though, as if he truly was embracing the hug Skyva was giving him. After all, she was really one of the only friends he had now.

There was still much hatred in his eyes and much vengeance in his heart when she let go, his grip on the sword tightening...Maxin's sword. "I guess it's just you and I now, huh?" He looked over to Sophie, a tension in his lingering stare, "Not sure who you are, but pray to Arceus you're not on the wrong side of all this. And you..." his glare cut through Touko, "You're the one that found me in the cave and left me there."

At that moment, Touko's PokeDex would begin to ring as she was receiving a call.

Skyva looked up at Touko, but it was Sophie that spoke, "Well that doesn't help your bitchiness to have left him." There was venom in her words, but she raised and hand to the girl.

"It's true that leaving Liam was a bitchy move, and your attitude was that of a bitch, but we need to get going to a lab. I have things to do if we are going to stop this damn rebellion. And for the love of every pokemon where the hell is Radegast? I am not saying he would want to help, since it was him who got us into this hell, but maybe with some luck he might actually want to help." She thought about it, "but the damn kid doesn't like to stick his nose in things." She wanted to punch him in his face, but honestly that wouldn't help anything.

She was about to ask Liam something when she heard the PokeDex.

"Hang on, that's me. I might need to take this." Man, oh man, what had the Champion gotten herself into this time? She sighed and picked up the call on her Xtransceiver. "Moshi-moshi. Touko speaking. This better be important, I'm on my way to Castelia."

The whole conversation, she couldn't help but feel like the Cinccino was judging her, perhaps finding her wanting. It was a new feeling...she wasn't used to falling short in any challenge, not since she caught Victini.

"Are you heading my way then, darling?" came the voice on the other end...a voice Touko would definitely recognize. If not from their long and cherished history, then definitely from the fact that they've spoken only two days prior.

"I might stop you actually," Burgh's polite and proper self continued, "I have just received a message from Winter Sakkio in regards to the whereabouts of our missing former Champion, Titania. He says he apologizes for the delay, but something came up on the way that he had to take care of first. He also said the best place to begin your search would be the Alola Region. He didn't tell me any island in particular, so my best answer I can provide is to start in Hau'oli City and branch out to the smaller locations until you find her. I wish you the best of luck, dear!"

There was a small break in sound, as if the Castelia City Gym Leader was going to end the call, but quickly interjected before anyone could press a button, "Oh! One more thing! If you meet their new champion, could you give him a hello for me? I figure he may be participating in the legal affairs soon."

There was a click and the call had ended.

"Roger that, Burgh. Just add that to my agenda..." He hung up on her. Rude.

"Huh. That was Burgh. He says he found a clue as to where we can find our little secret weapon that I was talking about earlier. I'm not sure how I feel about possibly having to battle her, though...even in retirement, I'm sure a former Champion like her will be horribly strong, using Pokemon and strategies I've never seen before. Still, I owe you girls a favor...ever been to Alola? It'll be a nice vacation, if nothing else. I might need to get some new clothes...my daisy dukes might rub in ways I don't want 'em to when the weather gets hot."

Skyva stood there watching Touku on the phone. "I am making my way to the lab in Castelia if that is they way you have to go too then that's fine. I might be a little while in the lab, I have to figure out the percentage of each poison that will be going into the potions I am making." She took a deep breath, "I don't know if I want to kill them or just put them in a coma. Honestly, I don't know if you heard the story Liam said, but they need to be stopped at all cost. I have personally dealt with them and know they are in large numbers..." She trailed off thinking of which poisons she could substitute for the much stronger poisons. Sophie pulled at her sleeve, bringing her back to reality.

"I don't need a vacation, Touku, I need this shit to be over with." Her eyes went dark, "As for battling, you are on your own, my pokemon don't battle unless their life is on the line."

Liam took all this information in stride as he was left with an ultimatum...go with Skyva or go with Touko? Looking over his options, he knew that the brunette would be going where the action was. Chances were, she'd be getting into a fight with a very powerful person who would help them destroy the Psychic Rebellion. And any chance to take down the ones who murdered his trainer was worthwhile to him. But Skyva was potentially the last friend he had left in the world, especially considering he had no idea where Radegast was. And she was taking her own measures to deal with the sinister Zoroark, which would definitely help Liam should it come down to a head-to-head face-off.

Also, Touko had ditched him in a cave, so...

"Actually, one of them does," came the very aggressive response from Liam as he stepped forward, Maxin's sword in hand and fury in his eyes, "I'm coming with you, Skyva."

The two of them had stood guard outside of the cavern for a while. They hadn’t received word from anyone, and the sun was beginning to set. “Logan, keep watch. I’ll be back in a flash.” Margriet spoke softly as her Crobat emerged to fly her over the mountain.

She quickly spotted a familiar head of red hair and landed. The model champion hopped from her Crobat, pet his head, and started towards them in a professional manner. “Any news?” Margriet asked, “Have you found this Max?” She had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach as she got a good look at their faces. There was anger, and a terrible sadness. “We’re not…” Too late, are we?

How would Radegast handle the news, if the worst had happened? Margriet felt she didn’t need to hear the answer anymore, but she willed herself to wait for their response.

Skyva smiled softly at Liam and his choice to go with her. She felt some comfort in being chosen over the brunette. She was about to tell the group that they were going to start heading to the lab when a familiar face laded with a Crobat. Her eyes shifted to the girl and inwardly sighed. Like she needed this right now.

"Have you found this Max?" Sent her fist curling. She didn't need a pokemon to rearrange her face. She took a deep breath and turned to the girl and glared at her. "This Max was indeed found. This Max has been..." She searched around for the words, not really wanting to repeat what was told with her. What could she say? That he died or that he was shot by that stupid cannon.

Sophie looked between Skyva and the other girl who decided to show up. She was going to tell her but Skyva finally spoke. "Why do you have to talk like an arrogant bitch. THIS MAX is...was a person and dear friend. A young boy who had issues, but was so damn happy. THIS MAX was taken from us by some stupid ass Zoroark. THIS MAX will get a revenge, by me if I have to do it by my damn self! You have your information, now get out my way so I can get to a damn lab." Her green eyes went dark, something Sophie had only seen when they were in the woods that night.

Sophie stepped between them and spoke as softly as she could for she was afraid, "Look you got what you need and we are a bit in a hurry, so can you please just go unless you are going to actually be of help?"
