Description

Ikiri are small and slightly humanoid. They have a compact thorax, four grasping limbs, two wings, and a tail. At first glance they seem very feline, but a closer look will reveal a general mish-mash of Earth like creatures. Their entire body is covered mostly in fur, with feathers on the wings and tail. This fur is most thin around the face, hands (all four), and chest/stomach.

The face has a short rounded muzzle somewhere a cross between looking canine and feline, though both the ears and the eyes appear to be based off the later. The Ikiri wings start from roughly halfway down the spine, and cover the entirety of the Ikiri's back (though normally are tucked close, giving the appearance of a feather back). An Ikiri's wingspan is roughly thrice it's height, though their wings compact well.

Ikiri have a long, prehensile, tail that is feathered near the base but furred for the rest of it's length. Their tails are usually half again the length of the Ikiri from nose to end and is tipped at the end with a sting. This sting delivers a long lasting but relatively mild sedative to the victim. It only takes roughly three doses of Ikiri venom to effectively paralyze a fully grown human male.

So begins...

Lily padded through the door to Gambit's Bar furtively. She was worried about being in such a supposedly dangerous place, but the insight into the human habit of alcoholic beverages was too much to simply pass up. She was going to be careful, and she'd made sure to practice some with her wicked tail sting before she came.

Spotting an interesting occupant, one who seemed either very drunk or very angry which was only different from being very drunk in the way falling is different from being on the ground - one invariably led to the other in this sort of situation. Weaving her way through the tables and chairs Lily hopped up onto one near the woman (who strangely enough had the morphological oddity of having a pair of wings, but an otherwise human body).

"Hello!" She said to the winged human happily. "My name is Lily and I am here- er, I would enjoy having a conversation with you if you are interested as well."

Lily could tell that Skyler was upset, her voice had that squeaky unenthusiastic quality that often indicated a bad mood. Bad moods could be cheered up though, and there might not even be need for drugs. "I... always enjoy talking to new people. You can learn a lot, from the most unlikely of sources as well. Why do you seem so upset? If, er, if you don't mind talking about it." Talking about their problems often helped humans deal with them, but humans had a notorious habit of not doing things that they knew would make them feel better merely because they felt bad at the moment and they were very sensitive about this.

"Emotions are not meant to be intelligent." Lily said soothingly, or rather, in a voice that Valerie told her was soothing. Hopefully it would work and Skyler would 'open up.' This was even better than drugged humans, emotional humans. The most confusing and interesting kind of human.

Lily was tired of looking up at her conversational partner, though it wasn't an unusual feeling. She hopped up onto the back of her chair and perched there, flaring her gray featherd wings and swishing a tail of the same for balance. After just a moment she settled and seemed ready to resume. "So, do you have anything more... uplifting? You wish to speak about?"

Lily cocked her head to the side. "What exactly do you mean by 'close-quarters' flying?"

"Oh." Lily said. "I guess I always took for granted that I could do that. My species lived in the tops of giant trees, similar to the Redwoods of your planet. If you couldn't get through tight spaces you would never be able to go much of anywhere, unless you dropped really below the canopy."

"I am from Lesidra, it's a small planet nearly on the opposite side of the galaxy. The Mauyi created my species and placed them there, or that's what we think we translated from the ship computers before it stopped working. It's a long way away, but the Mauyi jump gates allow travel there with relative ease." Lily preen at the top arch of her left wing as she talked, frowning at an unruly feather.

Lily laughed. "No, I'm afraid I can't. There was a... mishap with the ship that was intended to initiate first contact between my species and humans. It crashed to ground on Lesidra and torched the atmosphere. The Ikiri evacuated themselves and what little they could to an Earth quite near to this place."

"I have never been to this specific place, but I have been living on an Earth like this one for several-" Lily paused listening to something. From a nearly invisible pouch around her middle she pulled a small communication device. After staring intently at it for a moment she hopped down off her chair. "I apologize, but I must cut our conversation short. I'm needed urgently back home. It was nice too meet you." Then with goodbyes said Lily dashed out of the Gambit's Door.

Lily frowned to herself as she watched that horse she'd seen turn into a girl. Trust even the food in this place to do odd things and be sapient and unfoodlike. Those bar patrons had been right, this place was crazy town. Lily fluttered down from a high standing spire of rock and sat a few feet away from the girl. When she didn't move, Lily started tossing pebbles at her. She really didn't want to get close to a shapeshifter like that, it could be dangerous and hungry.

Lily Talse narrowed her bright jade eyes at the girl, "You're not dangerous are you?" she asked taking a hopping step back. This place was nothing but low buildings, small trees, and ground. She'd been dirt hopping all over the place, and it wasn't nearly fast enough to escape a sufficiently fast predator. Then again, most of the denizens she's met thus far had been either neutral or friendly. "It's just that, I would really not like to deal with anything dangerous right now."

"Oh, the usual things someone does in a mostly desolate wasteland area. Looking for food, water, shelter. Things that aren't found around very much. I missed my hop to the surface, or should I say, the hop missed the right part of the surface for me to get too." Lily kicked a pebble and hopped up onto a nearby rock. The earth creature this person turned into was enormous, and it was making her nervous to have it towering over her tiny just-over-a-meter-and-a-third form.

Lily sighed. "So I guess that's a no on water. I'm not a very good hunter and I can't eat plants that aren't very low in fibers and high in sugars. If you don't have anything to spare can you at least point me in the direction of some place that does? Or better yet, take me there?"

Lily blinked. "Those directions are not helpful at all. I don't know where Main street is, or where I am now."

Grumbling to herself about humans dismissive attitude towards sensitive ears Lily padded into the bar, only just in time for a patron to begin hollering about the inordinate amount of alcohol he was intent on drinking. Shaking her head she instead focused on the cat sitting on top of the bar. Fluttering her wings she hopped up onto a nearby stool to say hello.

"I've got to say I've never seen an animal that needed a drink. What'll you be having, a milk?"

"I would guess that's a no then. I'd help with you're paw but I've no skill in first aid." Lily said to the injured cat. At least it could talk, Lily was always worried when addressing things that they'd turn out not to be sentient or unable to speak. Tapping on a nearby pad she ordered something that sounded fruity and sugar filled. After a dismissive glance to the loud soon-to-be-very-drunk Leo, Lily turned back to Lake One.

"So what brings you to a place like this?"

"You should get a person. They're really helpful. Not only do people not bat an eye when they turn out to be able to speak but they also know all the weird variances on social interaction that humans maintain." Lily said while sipping on her drink. She considered getting the speech ring from her room but Alison was probably playing that awful music still. Either way, the creature seemed able to speak so it would probably do. The bar was starting to fill up a little bit, including another heavy drinker. Staying around here likely wasn't going to be safe for much longer.

Lily laughed at the incredulity in the Lake's voice. "Well, if you find a person, that surviving bit won't be as necessary anymore. That can free you up to do other, more interesting things."

Lily rolled her eyes at the insulted acting feline. "Good luck finding a shelter that will take a talking cat. People get kind of touchy when you put down sentient creatures. What's so bad about people anyways?" Giving a meaningful glance to the drinking buffoons she continued, "The ones not like these guys over here are usually nice enough."

"I've met a lot of magic people after landing here you know, if you were human once then chances are there someone that can change you back." Lily said softly. "And if you've got friends I'm sure they'd be able to help you out, that is what the entire concept of friendship is about right?"

Lily shrugged. "There are solutions to most every problem. I'll let you sleep though." Shaking her head she finished off her drink and left to find her ride. It was about time to not be in Gambit's anymore.

The small strange creature, known as an Ikiri in her own tongue, bounded down the streets of the abandoned slums muttering furiously to herself in rapid speed seeming gibberish. Where the small creature to stand still she might blend well with the grey emptiness of the metal, concrete, and encroaching nature. Bright leaf green eyes darted about looking this way and that until finally she slides to a stop and set her gaze to the sky. Sighing, Lily leans back on her haunches and pulls a small container from a pouch attached to her stomach. Drinking deeply from the canteen she fluffs her wings and makes her self comfortable as her eyes unfocus and nervous fidgetings ceases.
