Maria Li Lane Rodriguez's Story

She was only around eighteen, but behind her eyes was the knowledge of a world that, as a child, she'd been forced to understand. Maria Li Lane Rodriguez stepped into the bar, her greenish eyes lighting up as they slid over the people inside. She'd move over to a random person, gnawing on her lower lip for a moment, before speaking.
"Hola.. I'm looking for my brother. His name is Aequitas.. He's.. about.. This tall.. And he's got big, gold eyes.. And I've been searching so long.." If it hadn't been for the lead she'd been given, she'd actually have given up. Perhaps.. Just maybe.. Someone would know where to find him.

Maria Li Lane Rodriguez rubbed the back of her neck, looking at Sigmund. "H-how would they know? Last I knew.. He didn't even drink alcohol, anymore.."
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez rubbed her arm, then nodded, quickly taking a seat beside him. "He's under one of the nation's top ten.. Following the Saints. I'm terrified he's already been taken in, but.." She shook her head. "Romeo doesn't seem any more paranoid than he always had been."
The hispanic's face paled when she looked toward Parson. "D-died? Uhm.. I.. I have an old picture.." She pulled a picture from her purse, making damned sure to flash the DE that she'd been stowing in there. The picture was only a couple years old.

Maria Li Lane Rodriguez glanced at the boy with the computer, tilting her head. "I'm not going to shoot anyone until they piss me off." She looked at the kid, her green eyes growing dull. "H-he.. He can't be dead. R-romeo.. Romeo would have said something.. Wo-wouldn't he?"
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez looked at the profile, nodding slightly. "That's him, alright.. But.. What do you mean, 'kinda'?"
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez slipped into the bar, just as she had the night before, only, this time? She knew what "Kinda" alive had really meant. She was still trying to find her brother, but.. Well, maybe there was more in that file than the hacker had let her see.
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez looked at the key, then did him one better. Out of a bag strapped to her back, she pulled out a full, alienware laptop, switched it on, and plugged in the key. For one, the download was ten times, quicker. Secondly, she'd made damned sure no one could track her computer. Within moments,the full file had been open on her screen and her eyes were flickering through it.
"No, I don't." She looked up from her screen, crossing her arms. "And with my job, I don't exactly have time to build computers. And my computer is -not- crap. It's built custom." She went back to scanning the file, before her eyes fell to one single line. "Suspected of the murder of Little Yakka, or Joseph Yakkavetta Jr." she read aloud, but quietly.
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez glanced up at Sigmund, shaking her head. "I really didn't know where he'd been. I havent seen him since they left home, years ago." She shook her head, her eyes flickering through the report. "Yakkevetta was the Don of a prestegious branch of the Italian Mafia.."
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez sighed quietly, saving the file on her harddrive and shutting the laptop off. "I told you. I'm searching for my older brother. I never knew he was working with the Saints. Last any of us heard, he got married... but.."
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez looked up at him, then pulled a thick wad of cash out from her bag. The DE was flashed a second time for the past two days. She rolled the wad across the table at him. "There's twice that on the way if you can completely erase their records from the database."
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez slipped the next two wads into his hand, then watched him leave. Good. That was done.
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez checked the computer to make sure that it was completely off, before stuffing it back in her bag. She'd never thought to ask her cousin for a more recent picture of her older brother.. Not that it mattered. He said Aeq'd grown.. camera shy. But Qui was always camera shy, at least, he was after he was forced to work for the mob. So, she pulled out her cellphone and pulled up the year old picture, beginning to ask around again--- this time, starting with the rather odd man with the juice box.
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez sighed in relief, then looked up to the man. "Sir, My name is Maria Li Lane Rodriguez.. And I am his first sister, younger by two years." She slowly tucked the phone into her back pocket. "I've been searching for almost three weeks now. Romeo didn't seem too worried when I told him that.. Some kid said he'd died in a bar fight."
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez shook her head slightly, laughing. "Better to elope than to have sore knees on your wedding night." She slipped the chain off from around her neck--- the Egyptian eye of Ra was dangling from it. "I'm the black sheep of the bunch o' us. But when Mom and Dad died, it stopped mattering. I travelled to Egypt after graduation, and I tried to keep in contact with the family, but Romeo would never give me Qui's number."
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez grinned, then slipped the necklace back on. "I suppose the parties are all boring, too, huh?"
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez smiled brightly. "Pleasure's all mine, mi amigo. Is this the part where I ask who wore the dress in your wedding?"
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez giggled and nodded, leaning against the bar--- and that was when she realized the paper on the juicebox. Her eyes flickered from his grin to the box, then to his grin again, before her eyes widened. "Sangre.." She blinked. "You're a vampire!"
"No, no problemo. Just.. I'm a bit surprized. Is it Ra who lets you walk around while his light is in the sky?" She tilted her head.
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez nodded slowly. "Then my brother, now, would yet be underground.. Or asleep. Somewhere the sun could not reach, si?"
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez nodded, smiling lightly. "I understand completely. If I am not here when he wakes, would you tell him something for me? 'Blood is thicker than ice.' He'll know what it means."
"Hello, Qui-kat," the young Hispanic girl said lightly, her brows raising. "Blood is thicker than ice, isn't it?"
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez smiled brightly, then looked to Milo. "Told you so. And don't worry about el policio showing up, either. I had their records erased."
Maria Li Lane Rodriguez nodded to both men, then pulled her Ra necklace. "Yeah, see? Wouldn't've guessed that you'd marry someone with the same god. Not with how you've always been." She shrugged. "So, how'd Romeo get his arm broke?"
