Naria Walker's Story

Into Gambits sauntered a woman with darkly tanned skin and white hair that contrasted greatly. Her walk was confident, and her expression was...well, it was quite flat. Lifeless, even. The fact that she had a machine strapped to one side of her head that stretched out over her eye didn't help the dead stare. The gadget was even attached to the insides and around the eye, but it would be hard to tell.

Beside her hoppedTora Butler, who had a head of brightly colored hair, a jolly gait, and a bright smile. Much in contrast with Naria. Upon both their heads were a pair of Aviator goggles. Hoverbikers found those quite useful.

"You're gonna like it here, Nar, I swear! You gotta get outta that camp every once in a while or you'll turn white!"
Naria returned this comment with a flat glare.
"I can't turn white, Tora. I'm naturally tan. I'm not you."

The Hacker honored Capella and Nevan with a quick calculating glance, studying their movements and listening to their speech. Ah, a little jealousy, maybe? Or maybe a hate for children? The woman did not know the exact reasons, but the kid who was being targeted by the lady made her smile.
However, she turned away, giving her attention to Tora, who was dancing on her heels. "You act like there's a Scraper in your pants." Naria said, folding her arms.
Tora sucked in a big gasp of air, disgusted. "Guuuh! No, no! If there was a Scraper in my pants..." she shuddered. "...I'd just kill myself then and there!"

And most people might have. Scrapers were human weapons that wore suits that were nailed into their bodies. They were also brainwashed and trained to kill.
Tora did not like them at all, and it was obvious.

Naria looked back briefly, watching William pass by. She didn't linger on him long, however, as she watched yet another Patron enter.
This one was very familiar. She'd seen her through Jack's video screen before. He had a very long talk to her on two occasions.
This made her very curious. She felt the need to speak to her, as well. Walking over, the Hacker sat in front of Hope calmly, the machine on her eye zooming in on her like a camera lens. "Hello," she said to her, holding out a hand. "Is your name Hope? I've heard a bit about you. I'm Naria, friend to Jack."

"It's nice to meet you at last, Hope," Naria said with a small smile. There even seemed to be a spark in her one eye, a flicker of life. "Yes, I am a part of the gang. I do a lot for them."
She was, in fact, the lead hacker. She did a lot for them.

"Jack is...ah. Sick. He came home wet and his clothes frozen to his skin."
She still didn't know how that had happened. She knew he had a run-in with a Witch, but...

"Yeah, but obviously, Jack's mind seems to be a little premature," laughed Naria, sitting with her back straight as a stick. The woman certainly was a bit proper. Very stiff, very...secretive. But she seemed to ease up around Hope. She'd discovered a lot of things around the young lady.

As hope had her little episode, Naria widened her eye, the lens zooming in a bit more. "Are you alright? You seem a tad...weak."

"Poison?" Naria asked, her head leaning to the side. "Whoever would have poisoned you?"
She remembered some discussion about serving a queen. And being part of an army of some sort. Did her enemy play dirty like that? It seemed probable.

"Do you have any idea what might have caused it?"

The Hacker leaned in as she listened to Hope, crossing her arms on the table to become more comfortable. Of course, this didn't last long. Hope had fallen off her stool, and Naria felt the need to help.
Of course, if it were someone like Ace, another hoverbike member, she would have just laughed. This was different, though. "Are you really sure you're alright?" She asked, leaning next to the girl to lay a hand on her back, then to slowly lift her into a sitting position. "I don't want to believe that."

"Gunslinger? No, never seen one before. This is new. Very new, act'lly," said Tora, her new-age slang coming out. It had a hint of what used to be the New York accent hidden within it. "Chargin' me? Oh, honey, money isn't what you ne- OW!" Cried Tora.
Naria had picked up a salt shaker and chucked it at her head. "Under consent of Grennel." She said flatly before turning her attention back to Hope, ordering a glass of water. "Yes, but you still need help. You may've had worse, but you're still in bad shape."

Tora grumbled and rubbed her head, giving William an interested stare.
"Homo Sapien 'flavor?' What the fuck does that mean?"

"You're as interesting as I'd thought," Naria chuckled, half-holding the water so Hope wouldn't drop it again. That wouldn't be good. "You don't seem to be deterred by much. I wonder why that is?" She asked, though it was mostly directed at herself. She said thoughts aloud at times. A habit from relaying information to Min or the other Hackers when working.

"What was the planet like, then? Mind telling me?"

This...this interested Naria. A lot. For a woman hungry for any type of information, this was the perfect person to ask. A small file was created in the recordings she had, which was settled right into the device on her head.
She named it "Hope."
Creepy? Maybe, but it was her way of remembering things. She meant absolutely no harm by it. "Plants are dominant...they understood what you said? Goodness, it sounds like plants have evolved to have a consciousness there."
Corrosive sap?
Oh, jeez.

"I don't think you're up for it either, Hope," Naria commented, a hand still on her back to support her. "You should have done tha the first time you'd gone onto the planet. You should always be wary...anything could happen..."
Anything...

"Me? I provide shielding and information to the gang's members." Yes, Nar, keep it as vague as possible. "I'm usually locked up. I don't get out much."

"Can you sit?" Naria asked, getting up from her knees just a bit, as to keep Hope in a sitting position. "I'm not in Jail...just...working. Always working." She replied, biting her lip. When the girl spoke about being a shapeshifter, her eye lit up in understanding.

"That's right! You are a shapeshifter, aren't you? I hardly remembered."

Where did calm and composed go?

Into Gambits came somewhat of a newcomer. She had complained to the Captain that she wished not to go, but he had laughed at her and shoo'ed her away. It was the most infuriating time trying to convince him otherwise.
Which didn't happen, of course.

In any case, the tall, golden-skinned woman sauntered in, the metal device attached to her head, which extended to her eye and then continued to grow over it, granting her a zoom lens, closed up onto Blackjack and his friend. She knew Blackjack. He had spoken to Grennel. She was there, though she wasn't in sight at the time.

Curious, she walked closer to them, her robotic arm pulling up a chair not too far away. It was easy to listen at this distance, even without technology.

Traitors, hm? Hadn't Gadget enough of those, lately! Ever since Mike, everyone was in an uproar, accusing who they could erratically. No, she could understand full well about traitors.
The woman listened intently, even as she ordered a drink from the bar. She was good at this; not too long ago, she'd served as a spy for Gadget.
That was...long before the accident. Long before.

As her drink came, the conversation became more interesting. Trained men? People that they could spare? Who were 'they', exactly? She knew Blackjack had something going, but who was the woman he was talking to?
She would have taken a glance; if she was someone important, surely Gadget had files on her. But it was so risky.
Pfft. Whatever. It was a glance. And Naria took it, looking back briefly and catching the sight of Maddox. She went back to her drink in a flash, as if it had meant nothing.

The Invictus, huh? So that's who they were a part of. It explained a lot: bodyguards, dealing with Blackjack, her casual way of speaking. And the whole conversation was recorded, sent back to one of the other Hackers at Gadget. This was good. She did not regret coming out of her shell anymore. A thousand troops...for what possible reason could that serve?

Naria picked up her glass and tilted it upward, absently gulping down the liquid before narrowing her eyes. She placed her glass down, peering at the reflection of Maddox as her cloak was slipped off. The woman was decked. It made Naria smile.

"Log number one of Terra's Atmosphere investigation: It is dead and there appears to be nothing unique about it. The only thing that differs from Earth's atmosphere is that it is significantly cleaner; there seems to be no holes, nor does there seem to be any noxious gases. It also seems to be clear of that infection that Tora favors calling 'Those Jap Commie's' which refers to the Taiyou Empire that so ambitiously attempted to take Wing City for their own not long ago. Now, this place is completely boring. Audio log number one off."

The small space-bike of a Gadget member floated through the air, not far from the atmosphere itself. She had decided to view it from a distance, where the visuals couldn't become cracked from the atmosphere itself. Within the space-bike, which was shaped like a large orb with a transparent viewpoint int he front, was a woman with very brown skin and light hair. She was looking at a large range of holographic monitors.

"And...I will be signing off, because Grennel set me up to comple-" She paused mid-word, the monitors suddenly going haywire.

"What the hell?"

The Hacker brought her bike to a direct halt, though such a thing was just a bit difficult in space. Everything within the cabin of the spherical space vehicle that was loose, which included a tightly wrapped bag of chips, thumped into the front windshield. Little cogs did the same. She tried to make sense of the beeping graphs and monitors, pressing a few buttons and typing a few things into the main computer. Soon they seemed to calm down, honing on one thing only:

The transmission.

"Spoons!" Came the word, and Naria could not help but pause for a very long time to just stare at her speakers flatly.
"...spoons? The hell?" She cursed, bewildered. Then, as the second message came through, Naria jumped, eyes widening.

"Yes, yes? Hello? This is Naria Walker of Gadget. Who am I speaking to?"

"Running yourself down for something?" Asked a voice next to Kale. If he turned, he would find a woman with stunning white hair and dark skin wrapping her fingers around a glass. One of her arms was not completely organic. It was bound by metal, plastic, and wires. There was a similar piece of the side of her head, where the hair had been shaven away to accompany it. It stretched over one of her eyes, forming into a zoom-lens, much like that you'd find on a camera.

"Nothing important." Said Naria, sipping at her drink. But...if I may inquire...may I see those diagrams? They look half familiar." She said, inclining her neck so that maybe she'd be able to get a good look. The lens zoomed in on the paper, trying to pick out and analyse detail. She was the curious sort when it came to technology, unable to ignore it even in the shyest of times.

"Oh, so you are immortal? Interesting, that." Said Sacha, smirking once more. That would be useful. If it was because of her magic, then if he got a chance to steal it... "What was your name again? I didn't catch it last time." He held out his hand for a shake. He used his other hand and took the napkin, however, he used it to wipe the blood from his cheek, not the sweat from his brow. "Much obliged."

"How interesting," said the cyborg, narrowing her eye and allowing the lens to swipe across the entire diagram. The image was stored into a computerized database that linked to her brain. She would remember the entire thing in detail until she deleted the file. "I work with hoverbikes constantly." She said, getting up from her seat and moving closer to him. "I build them. I suspect you do, as well?" She asked. She normally did software, though the workings of the bikes is something she knew by heart and soul.

"And I gather you want help with that," she said, blinking her eye once. Something of a smile flashed across her face, though it vanished too quickly to be seen. "There is a gang here, one called Gadget, that deals with hoverbikes. It is my own gang. We have both the technology and the intelligence to put one of these together," she informed him, reaching out to tap the paper.
"And we rarely ask for payment. Creating bikes is a sort of hobby for us. More than that. It is out purpose. That and a few other things." She said.

"What is your name, sir? I am Naria Walker." She held out her hand to him. The mechanic one.

Yes, there was a catch, but there wasn't anything that would be of great price to Kale. At least, Naria wouldn't think so. Usually, it wouldn't hinder most people. It was just a thing of pride. "It is nice to meet you, Phoenix," she said, then putting her hand back down. He had chosen to ignore it, it seemed. Maybe the mechanical parts didn't sit well enough with him.
"I see it corresponds with the symbol. I noticed that when you first walked in. If you will allow me to inquire further, what does it mean? Or is it just a brand?"

"I see. You must be a hero in some part of the word. Or another world. Research has shown that there are more than a million separate universes out there. Some crazy man said to me once that they were all connected. Called it the 'multiverse.'" She said to him, shaking her head, almost laughing. "So, about this bike...are you very much intent on having it made? It is a beautiful design."

"How badly?" She asked. She needed to know. There was no point in making the bike if he wasn't going to take care of it. "Tell me you are not going to simply take it for a joy ride. Tell me you aren't going to be reckless and crash it without a care. I want to know that you will care for it. Care for it like you would a person." She gave him an intent look, even the lens staring at him strangely.

"I want to know that I wont be doing this for nothing."
