A resurrected remant, the Kirek has metamorphed yet again, entering the adult stage as a hunter of the most apex kind.
Rai is something of an enigma, literally brought back from the dead. He has no place set in society, yet has shown the resiliency to adapt to it and find a job as a tracker. What little human interactions he's had have shown that he tends to be remote, more prone to listen than speak. Intelligent and cunning, he has also shown his loyalty to his contractors, pursuing targets beyond what most would expect. It also seems as though he lacks a sense of fear, for when presented with a hostile situation, he has never once acted as though intimidated.
Ra'ishi possesses one unusual trait, in that he is incapable of feeling fear.
Living Fossil â Ra'ishi is a revived member of an extinct race. From mouldering bones to living flesh and blood, he allowed the scientists who resurrected him to learn more about the physiology of the Kirek than they thought possible. To start with, the âhairsâ on his body are closer in structure to metallic crystals, extremely conductive yet able to contain only a small charge. Kirek muscle and bone density are far tougher than that of a human's, capable of lifting closer to three times their own weight and reaching sprint speeds of 65kpm. Two sets of eyes, the primary set percieving visible and ultraviolet spectrums, the secondary appearing to be thermally acute. Two hearts and four lungs, with a correspondingly higher metabolic rate associated with the digestive system. Alas, they were never able to determine the function of a node within the Kirek brain, which possessed unusually large frontal lobes. The third set of eyes that developed in the adult stage of a Kirek's life perceive sound as an image, in a form of echolocation. The second set of arms simply enhances his natural offensive power, and the evolution of his cerebral cortex grants him full quadridexterity with his arms.
The sole anomaly they discovered was within the Kirek brain, there is no part that percieves the emotion of fear. Wariness exists as an animal instinct, but plainly put, Rai cannot feel fear.
Psionic/Mage Hunter â Rai's natural abilities, while formidable alone, appear to primarily focus around combating psionic and magical talents. A node within his brain allows him to pinpoint these talents, while the matrix of his âhairsâ diffuses their energies in a manner similar to a stone in a stream. By this same token it offers some resistance to blaster fire, but this is not proof against it. Additionally though, this node appears to conceal his presence from probing via psychic or magical means. This node developed further, and now projects an area of effect in which psionic and magical talents cannot work. This area is a 100 diameter sphere centered on Ra'ishi's head.
Beast Warrior â With his natural weapons and abilities, Rai is a very dangerous fighter, faster and stronger than any unaugmented human. Highly skilled in unarmed combat, his flurries of punches, slashes, and bites tend to overwhelm even small groups of foes. However, it has been shown that the longer strands of his âhairâ, which tend to gather at his forearms and tail, can harden, and then be flung with a fair amount of precision in the manner of throwing needles. Finally however, it is not unusual for him to be scene with a gun or melee weapon picked up from a fallen foe, and in these he has middling proficiency.
Biological Weapons â Rai's primary means of armament is the tools of his own body. Talons as hard as titanium tip his fingers and toes, and even stronger bone blade protrusions jut from his elbows and knees. The very âhairâ on his body can be hardened and thrown in barrages, though primarily these attacks tend to come from his forearms or his tail.
The Huntsman â A small skimmer purchased by Rai using the funds from his hunts, it is a functional craft to get to and from places. Lightly armored and armed, its primary functions lie in speed and stealth. The copilot seat has been modified into containment sarcophagus, into which he stuffs his targets for delivery, be they living, dead, or items.
Ra'ishi was given his beginnings in a lab, his origins a skeleton of old bones discovered on a dig site. Advanced cloning and DNA sequencing allowed scientists to regenerate a living being from those bones, to better study the creatures of the past. And so was Ra'ishi âbornâ, resurrected after thousands of years of unlife.
For the next decade and a half, Rai lived the life of a test subject, prodded, examined, run through test after test. His rapid development was a delight for his observers, though the rate of his learning unnerved some of the higher escelon funders of the project. But he was allowed to live, in the manner of a captive who has never known freedom. Then one day, that changed.
Had the scientists known Kirek went through cycles of life, they would have known to isolate Ra'ishi at the start of his 15th year of life. Alas, they hadn't, and so the larval Kirek entered the youth stage, his mass drastically increasing. On investigation of the phenomena, researchers unwittingly let the berserk entity out. The incident report released later listed 42 lethal casualties, outraging investors that the subject had then promptly vanished in the wake of the evacuations.
Having stowed away aboard one of the escaping vessels, Ra'ishi was let loose to roam on a populated world, finding the city to his liking. It took years of scavenging and slow progress, but in a world who's people came into contact with other races on a day to day basis, slowly they came to accept the Kirek youth. Eventually he was able to liscense himself as a freelance tracker, a hunter of bounties of both living and item retrieval. Thus the life Rai had found for himself, finding it pleasing enough.
Other Information
Occassionally Rai will seclude himself from others, for once a month his âhairâ sheds en masse, taking nearly ten hours to regenerate a new coat.
Rai has entered the Adult stage of a Kirek's life, evolving rapidly in a form of metamorphosis. He masses more than before, and is stronger, faster, and even more dangerous a predator than the Kirek youth state of life.
