Full Legal Name: Reina Isolde Kurosawa Harkov
Aliases: Rei Harkov, Kurage
Occupation: Whatever pays the bills the best at the moment
Age: unknown
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 135 lbs
Eye Color: Blue/Green; unnatural, pale, chatoyant
Hair Color: Blue and Black
Build: Athletic
Race: Human (assumed)
Sex: Female

Preferring to dress in cargo pants, boots, t-shirts and a flight jacket. Function over form is what is most important to her.
Despite these ideals of dress, Rei wears fairly heavy makeup, which conceals a great deal and in some way alters her facial features. It is hard to determine just what the woman beneath the makeup actually looks like, and she goes to a great deal of trouble to keep it that way.

Piercings/Tatoos/markings
Scars - Faint scaring across knuckles from childhood; scar on right lower leg from incident while in military service
Tattoos - Left shoulder (sakura blossom in red ink w/ three graces in black ink surrounding it); left wrist (tribal, blue ink), coms bracelet covers it
Piercings - Right ear: Standard lobe, orbital, helix, and upper lobe
Left ear: Industrial, snug and orbital
Eye brow piercing over right eye.

Personality
Rei is mostly calm, cool and fairly collected. She can though lean towards the disturbed and unstable side of things. She knows who exactly her friends and enemies are; preferring to keep the latter closer in a multitude of perverse and demented ways. She is not afraid to double cross, back stab or do any manner of nasty things to close a deal, or prevent it from going sour. Her talents in negotiation were learned the hard way; out in the field.

Equipment
Isher Mk 3-5 Plasma Pistol
VanVogt Force Blade tucked into the right boot
Coms bracelet, manufacture unknown
Earpiece designed to feed direct images from mini-cameras jettisoned outside a ship and allows the user to communicate directly with a ship's AI without the use of a neural web.

The Ship
Rei's ship, Ghost Dance, is an usual specimen in of the fact that few of these ships, called lighthuggers, have been seen since the Great War of Magellan.

Sitting at 4 km long, the ship is capable of carrying vast amounts of cargo in it's holds and can allow for even greater numbers of passengers if need be. With it's Lockheed-Krunchev engines for propulsion, the ship is capable of extremely powerful bursts of acceleration (at least 10g without any inertial suppression systems) and at cruising between systems pulls 1g on average.
Thought to possess limited repair and redesign capability, these ships are generally coated with a thick layer of ice to use in defense against other ships and minor impacts from objects. However, despite this most of these ships are capable of moving machinery and rooms around within their hulls should their owner desire it, and possess a on-board manufacturing plant for repairs etc.

Weapons
Ghost Dance has relatively small point defense weapons, but they still pack quite a punch.
These weapons are able to blast a 200 km crater into a planet, disrupt weather, and potentially initiate geological events.

The A.I.
Specter is an alpha-level simulation and responsible for assisting Rei with running most of such a large ship. There is a large amount of controversy surrounding the Alpha-Levels, as they were once humans whose minds were scanned and then digitized; these individuals did not survive the process. They are fully self aware, and fully capable of remembering, learning and adapting.

Other Technology
Manufacturies for creating anything from weapons to furnishing rooms on ship.
Inertial Suppression
Cryo-Arithmetic Engines/Dark Drives - allows a ships engines and heat to decay through quantum mechanics and use of a miniature event horizon to make them indistinguishable from background space and temperatures and radiation
Camouflage Screens - stealth technology that further conceals the lighthugger from detection
Hyper Diamond hull - an material of extreme durability made of nanofiber tubules interwoven

History
Rei's largely divorced from baseline humanity, her background is a little murky if at all clear. She's thought to be the daughter of a Taiyou citizen, and a Russish generational ship passenger from a vessel that was originally launched from the Sol system; but she's neither confirmed nor denied these facts. What is known is that she speaks decent enough Taiyou that the local Yakuza have a desire to deal with her when anything out world or in system calls. Her dealings are thought to be fairly small time and innocent enough, an she has little desire to run into trouble with the local law; but has had a few close calls. Possessing excellent piloting, martial arts, and marksmanship skills, she appears to have even perhaps come from a military background. All this once again goes back to the fact that her past is murky, and not even the closest of her friends know the true story of who Rei Harkov is. As a well kept enigma, she is perfectly content to let people wonder.

So begins...

Rei Harkov's Story

Rei Harkov found it a great relief to be off her feet for at least a few minutes. "Cut it a bit close there." She mumbled to herself about the recent chase from local police. "How do I manage trouble everywhere I go?" She asked herself shaking her head as a bright blue strand of hair escaped a band of fabric wrapped firmly around her head. Rei knew how she managed to trouble, it was her chosen method of bill paying; smugging, transporting illicit substances and not to mention people! "Drink.." She muttered under her breath flopping into a seat at the bar. It was fairly empty, calm, with not much activity. It seemed as good as any place to hide from law enforcement.

Rei Harkov glanced around as the bar began to fill up. "Huh. Got busy quick." She mumbled as she leaned on the bar debating on what to order. Simple was usually good, but then again so were some complicated drinks, sighing she reached out to grab one of the servers. "Hey can I get a whiskey on the rocks?" Maybe they'd have something halfway tolerable. Once the server left, she pulled a cigarette and lighter from a pocket somewhere deep in her jacket. Lighting it, Rei took a deep drag on it, before exhaling. For now she'd watch the bar, maybe there would be a few potential clients, a way to pay the bills and to a bit of excitement.

Rei Harkov watched the interaction between the small bookish woman and the strange man. "People here are strange." She mumbled under her breath before thanking and paying the server for her drink. The man on the phone was perhaps only merely annoying, he seemed to have a habit of shouting into the ear piece. Sipping her drink, she thought for a moment before speaking, "Is it your intent for the whole bar to hear your conversation?"

Rei Harkov recognized the look easily enough, she'd seen it before. "Happens to the best of us I suppose." She remarked with a slight shrug as she returned back to her drink. There was so little going on here, so little for her to do. At least though she wasn't being chased by the local cops, or any manner of law enforcement for that matter. That tended to get quite tiring, trying to explain or lie your way out of a situation, and the frightening thing was she was growing quite good at it too.

Rei Harkov smirked slightly at the offer of a drink. This was rare, but most certainly not unwelcome. "Please, be my guest." She answered. It appeared that it would be a battle of wills to see who would get more information out of the other the old fashioned way, priming with drinks and social niceties.

Of course, she wouldn't reveal much about herself, and most certainly not who exactly lay behind the blue colored contacts, heavy make-up and strangely colored hair. The tattoos and piercings though were her own, mistakes or choices made in her younger years.

Rei Harkov raised an eyebrow as Montgomery eyed the tattoo at her wrist. Sure it was distinctive, but few people realized that she even had it. Most of the time she wore a bracelet, watch or found some method of covering it. "Yes, another whiskey is fine." She answered slowly. Perhaps she was getting careless, and things weren't as airtight as she thought they were.

"Rei Harkov, a pleasure to meet you as well Mr. Montgomery." She said speaking with a odd accent, and Rei was anything if not halfway polite, he hadn't gotten on her bad side... yet.

Rei Harkov thought for a moment as she sipped at her drink. "Got crossways with the local PD somehow. Ducked in here to wait for them to cool their heels, till I can make it back out." She shrugged this off as if it were an everyday occurrence. In reality, she was just learning how to navigate the underbelly of the world all over again. For years she had had to be so terribly straight laced, prim and proper. What certain people didn't know wouldn't hurt them.

"Besides, I hear that the place is worth sitting around occasionally if you know what your looking for." Rei added. What she was looking for was clients, she had just had to replace a few engine parts to a rather expensive tune of 1500 credits and needed a way to supplement this loss of revenue and funding.

Rei Harkov swirled the ice around in her glass allowing it to chink gently against the glass. It was only easy because she was making it so, and perhaps now she would make it a bit harder. "How? Hm, that's difficult to explain..." She remarked after a moment or two. Illegal wasn't exactly the word she would use either, perhaps informal was a better word.

"I try to avoid the illegal things, it's a bit on the messy end." She added.

Rei Harkov shook her head. "Something about an unpaid ticket or two, funny thing is I don't recall receiving the tickets." She commented taking another drag on her cigarette. Things on Terra worked strangely and even stranger in this hell hole of a city. "I doubt it. Just need to figure out which asshole put a false tip in with the cops.. because until now I didn't have issues with them." She groused. Rei mostly ignored the man's comments, she could see a wolf in sheep's clothing when she saw one; and this guy personafied the image in many ways.

Rei Harkov shrugged, "Probably not.." She was blatantly lying, as she was in fact quite good with computers, databases and getting rid of unwanted data. But for now, she focused more on certain skills than others. She could have just showed up for court, could have payed the fine, but there were other more pressing issues.

She made a mental note to see what it would take to update the computer systems on her ship, they were rather outdated. But for now, she would play along with this man to see where and what it led her to. Perhaps it would be something worth her time, something to keep her away from annoying commitments elsewhere.

Rei Harkov nodded, "Yes parking tickets.. maybe the arrest warrant or.. two.. or ten." She said laughing it off. It wasn't a big deal, the Wing City PD would forget about her eventually. "As for my aliases, call signs and other given names. Few are privileged enough to even find out about those." Now she was deadly serious, her countenance having changed to something much harsher.

Rei Harkov frowned slightly, "If that someone was me, then the best way to ask is something that only the person would know. Your obviously still wet behind the ears in your many dealings." Rei had only a few minutes to speak with Montgomery before a heavy hand was placed on her shoulder. "I don't think I'll go." She stated wincing at the squeeze Motoko offered. "You don't have any official papers, hell your not even in your own damn jurisdiction.." Rei was going out on a limb here trying to get out of this arrest. She really didn't want to go back to Niihama, the place was complicated in more ways than one.

Rei Harkov had been in the process of attempting to sneak out and away from Motoko while she had been kept busy, and now swore softly under her breath. "Fuck... not my day." She muttered freezing. "Honestly what I do is small time compared to the other things out there, and you damned well know it." Rei commented knowing that this could go one of two ways here. Either Motoko let her go, or took her back to Niihama and threw away the key. Then things would be really hard to explain.

"The Aschen? Their hardly worth it! Bunch of tight assed prissy.." She grumbled trailing off before she got in even more trouble. Everyone knew that the Aschen were practically in bed with the Taiyou, the exact details Rei wasn't sure about.

Rei Harkov rolled her eyes and looked for a way out. "What the fuck is Yamamoto doing here? Besides picking your sorry ass up?" She asked muttering the last question. Rei did not like Motoko, and the two really didn't get along. Rei was usually busy trying to stay one, two, maybe three steps if she was lucky ahead of this horrible cybernetic woman. Though it did amaze her that she had gotten a warrant from the Empress attached to her.

Rei Harkov breathed a sigh of relief. No going back to Niihama for her thankfully. "Managed to avoid one idiot... maybe I can avoid more." She muttered thinking her luck was looking better. Downing the rest of her whiskey, she thought for a moment; sitting in the bar most of the day avoiding the local cops had resulted in a case of mistaken identity (intentional on her part), an attempted arrest and extradition out of Niihama and the announcement that there was a fairly hefty bounty via the Taiyou Empress on her head. "Not bad.. not good either."

Rei Harkov looked to Marlene for a moment wondering just what this woman wanted. "Excuse me?" She replied. There was no way that Marlene could have any idea whom she actually was. The LDA files didn't have this particular alias at all, and she kept very careful and meticulous records. "One more idiot to deal with today. Lovely." She grumbled.

Rei Harkov scowled, she needed to learn to use certain technologies and suppressors better. "I owe you no explanation. I'm not using any Alteran tech either, you know how hard it is to get a hold of that stuff? If it doesn't kill you first it's likely to fry your whole damn ship." She spat. "Maybe that thing of yours is buggy." She huffed as the signal on Marlene's device soon dissipated. A small trick, but one the device wouldn't pick up on.

Rei Harkov shook her head at the remarks from Marlene, she would have no luck recalibrating the device. The person who had caused the damage was so much more advanced in their skill set than Marlene could be in so short a time. "Your wrong and I have no idea what your talking about. Do your superiors know you crazy you are?" Rei asked as she slid off her bar stool. There was a nigh impenetrable wall around Rei's mind, either she was lying about whom she really was or simply couldn't be read.

But, if push came to shove she would have to shove back. She did not want to do that, as there would be so many unfair advantages to consider. Rei or rather Claire had had many more years of practice, and had finesse on her side, not to mention familiarity with these latent abilities.

Rei Harkov said nothing as she looked over towards Shifu. He wouldn't understand, in fact he wouldn't really want to. As her old tutor, before she'd been assigned the likes of Morgan La Faye, he had tried to make her understand the Alteran's world. Eventually she'd come to grasp a understanding.

"Yes, but that dishonest man can choose how to interpret the truth he hears from the river.." She muttered under her breath knowing that this was a dead give away to her identity. Claire had been one of the chosen few allowed to debate, and perhaps argue with some of the others.

Rei Harkov frowned, she had actually been avoiding the Belkan conflict and UCON. It didn't involve her at all, and there were simply other things to do. "Brat." She muttered. Cryptic messages were not what she had wanted to hear. 'Just what do they think I can do?' Rei wondered to herself as she plotted how to jump the next set of governmental lines drawn in space.

She had been ignoring Marlene for the most part, and hopefully would avoid a fight. Whatever the other woman had learned, it was rudimentary at its best and woefully unskilled at its worst.

Rei Harkov shook her head. "It's a very long story and one you wouldn't even begin to understand." She replied. "Watch me all you watch nut job, it's not going to do you any good." Rei added almost taunting Marlene. In a way the other woman deserved it, and needed to learn just what it felt like to be considered insane.

Rei Harkov had succeeded in throwing Marlene off her trail. Turning her attention to the military coverage on the television, she saw Raphael had been reinstated. "Not good, but also not my problem." She commented to herself paying for her drinks and began to head out. How was she to avoid this utter insistence that she interfere with the Belkan crisis? She'd already been thrown off twice.

"Death warrant from the Empress... huh." She mumbled to herself as she checked the time. So far so good, no cops and most certainly no annoying Taiyou cyborgs deciding it was a good idea to try and crush her shoulder. But this couldn't last for long could it? She was running low on funds, the last job she'd taken hadn't paid very well and expenses were piling up. "Ugh, damned idgits didn't pay worth shite.." Rei muttered testily as she looked around for a place that might hold a likely, and willing candiate for a job for her. Perhaps her biggest fear was that this carefully built life lived in the grey edges might come crashing down, and rather spectacularly. Swiping a newspaper from a local magazine stand much to the owner's chagrin and annoyance, she scanned the ads section, looking for something anything worth her while. "Gotta be something.."

Rei Harkov frowned slightly as she noticed this other woman staring at her hair. Sure she had a few spare tubes used for various things threaded in among the curls and strands, they came in use on board a older ship; but that didn't give her a reason to stare! "No you were staring or thinking about something else I can see that already." She stated dryly and with a bit of annoyance. This was one reason she didn't exactly like coming planet side, she always had trouble blending in, then there was the issue of the multiple warrants and death threats in various systems.

Rei Harkov blinked looking at the woman, who was doing everything but grasping and tugging at her hair. "Wait what? Why the hell would you want to know where I got spare ship parts?" She was now genuinely confused. Backing up slowly, she looked for a way out of this bizarre conversation, somehow this woman made her a little uncomfortable. "I'm.. fine I think." She muttered thinking perhaps she had gone too far out on a limb with this alias. Her intent had been for people not to recognize her at first, second, and even third glance. Perhaps even stand up to intense scrutiny, but this was just strange. "Also who said I was making excuses?"
