Ryan Vadas's Story

In came a woman with a giant sword.

The weapon was an axe-like blade, which more resembled a half circle, with a parallel handle forged into the blunt end. She had it slung about her back, sheathed only by what seemed to be winding strips of cloth.

She had a wild look in her eyes. Why, she wasn't even a tall, or particularly muscular, but the way she held herself, the way it was obvious she did not care much to do her hair or clean her leather armor, gave her a somewhat intimidating air. She did not mess around.

The sword, of course, helped too.

The woman's eyes flickered up at Zekil, narrowing in scrutiny. She reached up, grabbed the hilt of the sword, and for a moment it really seemed as if she was going to try and slash the boy open.

However, she just rolled it from her back and leaned it against the counter.

"Rum." she said huskily, "Jack Iron Rum."

"Whatever." she said, taking up the whole rum bottle, ignoring the glass entirely, and screwing off the top. She then rose it to her lips and took a gulp. She then passed Zekil a few coins. They were definitely foreign, made of a coppery metal with intricate, tiny designs engraved onto it. A centaur was among them.

"It's alright, I guess."

The woman lifted the bottle again, then leaned against the counter, near emptying the liquid into her throat. Absently, she picked a leaf out of her hair, then flicked it onto the ground.

She noted the children.

"It's a fuckin' bar." she spat, "Ain't no kids supposed to be in here."

The woman shot Brian an incredulous glare.

"M'fuckin' sorry. It's not my fault that some shitty parents decided to let their kids run free into a bar."

The woman grabbed the edge of the counter, knuckles whitening impressively from her grip. Closing someone's vocal chords was painful.

She picked up the pendulum blade, the cloth wraps falling down onto the floor, and aimed to slam the blade in the chair. Right between his legs.

"Fucker. Don't you do that again."

"One more trick outta you and you won't be able to sit comfortably anywhere." she hissed, slowly removing the Pendulum blade and retreating to her seat. It was then she noticed the man who had only just come in. Her sharp eyes landed right on him, following him.

Following the blade on his back and the one on his hip.

"Hmm."

Just then, her eyes shifted to Aiya. Tryouts? For what?

No, no, it didn't matter. What about that man, however? A fighter, she bet. There was no way he wasn't a fighter.

"Hope that's hard lemonade." she told Kazen, licking her lips of rum, "I can't think of any man comin' in that doesn't buy some kind of alcohol. 'less he's a pussy."

Brash, thoughtless words.

She eyed Zekil.

"What. Ever."

"More or less." she said to Kazen, leaning one arm against the blunt end of the ginormous blade. She indicated his own weapons with a tilt of her chin. "And you? Look like a fightin' lad, yourself." Her fingers tapped against the blade.

"Can you actually use them?"

She rolled her eyes to Zekil. "Yeah, try and do somethin' about it next time, huh? Talkin' doesn't get much done."

"Can tell you what else can bust his nut..." she muttered, turning her back on them stubbornly. She kept her sights on Kazen.

Now this guy...he was interesting. Everyone else just yapped.

"One of the best, eh? Not so sure about that. If you wanna fight for that title I'm up for it." She had to smirk, "I'm always up for seein' something new. Is it using both the swords at the same time? Cuz that's pretty hard to learn how to do."

"Yeah, but your attention's split. It's different with a gun, but with a sword you gotta take notice of where you're swinging both at the same time. Make sure they aren't in each others path. You're puttin' your attention on three things- both weapons and the target. Not everyone can pull it off." She shifted in her seat, then leaned onto the Pendulum blade. Her lips parted in an amused gape as she listened to the Irishman in front of her.

"Beat? Me? Oh, we'll have to see about that. I don't go easy, y'know. But I guess we'll just have to s-" She groaned at Zekil.

"Could you, y'know, stay outta this conversation?"

Impatiently, the woman's fingers clenched her knees. He was right. He was right. Not worth the time.

Not right now, anyway.

"About the strength? I'd think more skill, but I guess your people and my own use vastly different weapons." She patted her weapon to accentuate the point.

"So, hey, what's your name, ah? Haven't gotten to that yet." She looked towards Brian, saying to Kazen, "Honestly, I'd want to do the same."

The woman, as well, had also killed for less.

She kept her eyes from Brian, her temper boiling. No, she was having a conversation with someone. A decent one. She could handle this.

"Ryan Vadas." she said, her wild brown eyes flickering up into his own. "It's up to you what you think of that one. Boy's name and all."

Well, well, well.

This guy was certainly something Ryan was interesting.

"Hey, right now-" She reached for the Pendulum blade and let it lean against the length of her arm, "-would be perfect for me! Barely buzzed, in a good mood. Oh, but I suppose we ought to do it outside, y'know, before manboy at the counter starts to yell at us."

"Alrighty then. Try not to stab me in the back on our way out." she teased, holding up the weapon as she sauntered out, looking over her shoulder at him before she was completely gone.

Hmph.

Fight on Main Street, then. First day there.

Score.

"What, not using your swords, or is this gonna be a fist fight for both of us?" she asked, shaking out the blade to the side. She put one hand on her hip, leaned on one leg. She inspected him briefly.

"You're kinda built. Not sure if that's gonna matter for anything, though. Oh, but we'll see-" She raised the blade, spun it once over her head.

Pendulum, going back and forth. Slashing. That was how the sword and the fighting style was created. Back and forth. Circular motions.

She was ready.

A woman with a blade as tall as herself came in through Gambit's doors.

The weapon was an axe-like blade, with a parallel handle forged into the blunt end. She had it slung about her back, sheathed only by what seemed to be winding strips of cloth.

It was a Pendulum Blade.

The woman? Well, she looked just as deadly, with that stare of hers, venomous like a snake. She gave it to anyone who managed to glance her way.

That is, right until she was about to bump up into Illys. She stopped abruptly, finding her nose nearly smashing into the back of the mans head.

"The hell you standin' around for?" she growled. "Watch yourself!"

"Are you just making a crack at me compensating because even though you obviously need to you can't anyway?" she shot back, hands tightening on the handle of her Pendulum Blade.

"Don't talk to me like an equal. It's startlingly obvious that you aren't even close, m'kay? If you're going to be so oblivious and just stand in the pathway leading to the counter and block traffic."

"Real warriors know how to manage a sword this big. People say it's an awful weapon. Too heavy, clunky, and wide at the blade. Like using an oversized butcher knife. People don't understand there's actual technique to the thing. It's near impossible to stop a slash of a blade this big with a puny little katana or even a claymore. Any hit not dodged is taken!" she exclaimed proudly.

"So I'd rethink those words about how small you only think my brain is. But I can't expect it from someone's who's only a little sour because their brain is smaller than thei-" She was cut off by Bo's sudden yelling.

"...oh. There's a fight."

"Peh! I don't need supernatural powers to swing around a sword! It takes more skill than you can probably imagine. Not that that's hard to do. You're kinda witty, sure, but you're probably not good for much else."

And Ryan certainly was not getting into a fight with people who could teleport. Powers was cheating. Magic was cheating. Raw strength and skill build up from years of training was the only real way to be a fighter.

In her mind, anyway.

Ryan shook the blade out to the side, the strips of cloth loosening to reveal the silvery weapon.

"Alright, alright, I can see you want a piece. But it's a little too stuffy in here, doncha think? Best place is outside. I think it's a little more...appropriate."

She peered at Zekil, remembering days previous.

"And, you know, I really don't feel in the mood for getting scolded by the staff."

Ryan did the same, glancing behind her at the bar just before she disappeared out of the door, one hand on her hip, the other holding up the massive weapon she carried around.

"Oh, this should be good."

"No need for an excuse. I just want to fight. I hope you are too." She backed away, flipping the Pendulum Blade over her head. She held it with both hands, blade parallel to the ground.

"Alrighty, lets go. No guns. Just that wicked gauntlet you got there." She smirked, "I surely am ready to dance, twinkletoes."
