Personality

Terem is a quiet girl, when she's in her human form. She's never been known for gathering herself a group of friends and has always seemed to be a bit of a loner when it comes to living conditions. That's not to say, however, that she's not friendly. Despite her tendency of being socially awkward, as some might put it, once you get to know her well enough, Terem becomes quite pleasant, sometimes raucously so.

As a dragon, she is just a twinge different. Steadfast and determined describe her reasonably well, but then again she's been dealing with such words for dozens of years, so she's lost her braggart's sense of accomplishment, instead choosing to see her successes in a milder light, rather than blowing them out of proportion.

Equipment

Image

As a dragon, Terem has the weapons given to her by nature in the form of claws, wings, a tail, and breath of flame that could singe a dozen armored knights in their armor at twenty paces. As a human, however, she wields a lance made from an unknown substance, as well as armor that appears to be formed into the ridges and scales of a black dragon. Where she found such odd equipment is the guess of the best scholars, as she refuses to tell anyone.

Terem looked at the other contenders of the race, a bit nervous. She'd not prepared herself for it and the only reason she'd even thought to enter was because she enjoyed flying in general. if she proved to do well, perhaps she'd continue. When the gun went off, however, she dashed forward. Although in human form, Terem was still quick. She was outdistanced by the others even quicker, however, so she leaped into the air and shifted to her natural state.

[color=gray]Within the half second of airtime, Terem shifted to her native state of a massive white dragon. She flapped her wings once, twice, and third time to gain altitude and speed, but the two ahead of her had their lead and she couldn't do much to chase them. Not immediately, anyways. She wasn't in it for the win, anyways, figuring that testing herself needed no victory.

Terem landed gently and easily in third, showing almost no physical strain from the race itself. Adrenaline was still pumping through her system, but she wasn't really one to show it. Plus, reading a dragon's face was about as easy as reading their books. She tucked her wings to her sides for safety and then she shifted to her human form, the transition taking only a second.

Once back to what she considered her more 'normal' form, Terem stretched herself and leaned lazily on the spear she carried beside her. She didn't seem interested in talking to anyone, though she wasn't rejecting those who came to her to congratulate her on her performance.

Terem [color=black]smiled softly at the security officers as they began to walk away. One, however, stayed and tried to strike up a conversation. He wasn't the most attractive person that Terem had ever seen, but he couldn't be called ugly by the standards of his race. What kept her smile going was not the wit he tried to show off, but the fact that he was making a fool of himself for her.

She interrupted him for a moment, saying, "You do realize who you're trying to trying to lay with, don't you? Not only are we different species, but I'm probably more than a hundred years older than you'll ever be." She chuckled softly and went back to leaning on her spear, only to have someone else walk up to her and ask her to sign something.

She turned and balanced the spear in the crook of her arm before taking the pen and paper from the child. She quickly scratched the pen across it, the word Sprite forming as she moved the pen. The letters were as graceful and strong as she was, despite the swiftness of her writing.

Terem looked around, noting that the guard had gone off and was now trying to boost his confidence with a pretty young woman as she made her way away from the circuit. She chuckled at the site and then walked over to where the harpy was. She may have been a bit cold to the other racers, but to those who beat her, she had respect.

Terem nodded and stepped back, wondering what she should do. The stands were mostly empty, and it seemed that the draconian had gone off to celebrate, so she really had nothing to do. She thought about leaving, but she still wanted to talk with the harpy some more, figuring that they might both be able to help each other out with some tips.

Rather than stand there awkwardly, Terem found a suitable place to sun herself and shifted forms, laying down on the warm pavement under the sun once she had once more become a dragon.

Terem lifted her head and looked at the young girl before rapidly shifting to her human form.

"It's no bother, I assure you. Plus, I'm always up for a little bit of sunning. Where'd you learn to fly like that, may I ask?" she asked, thinking of no better way to get a conversation rolling so quickly. If nothing else, flying was something the two of them could talk about with each other, likely for quite some time.

Terem she watched the harpy for a moment, thinking. She understood how easily a hollow flight bone could be broken, but why had this girl stayed on the ground, rather than hidden among the rooftops.

"You stayed on the ground? I'd say that's far braver than anything I've done. Sure, I've fought and such, but that was only when necessary. To stay among the danger is something I doubt I'd ever be able to do. I would've been a coward and dropped rocks on them."

Terem hummed softly in response. She looked over the harpy's shoulder and saw that the man in the purple coat was returning.

"Your sponsor is on his way back. I hope you're not in trouble. And trust me, you're still braver than me. And damn good in a race, too." She smiled and pulled her spear back out of the ground, brushing the dirt and grit off of it once it was free.

Above the three people situated among the plaza flew a shadow in the sky. It wasn't that Terem was particularly trying to hide, but she'd woken from sunning herself and picked up the three strange scents. Being new to the city, she figured she would investigate and, perhaps, meet more people. That is, if she didn't just avoid contact altogether.

Terem continued to circle on a current of beautifully warm air, simply riding the lazy spiral. There wasn't much to do but watch as the two humans watched her back, a bit surprised. After a few more circles, Terem grew bored and dropped off the side of the thermal, diving at the plaza for only a few seconds before landing gracefully perhaps a dozen yards away from the two.

Across the clear and open sky soared a pristine white dragoness, it's massive wings holding it above the ground as though gravity were nonexistent. She glided on the thermals and wind currents, choosing to be lazy today, rather than to actively fly. Sure, she could have napped, or hoarded gold, or done any of the other countless things a fully grown dragon might do, but she was a Sky Dragon, and that meant she spent a good portion of her time in the air.

The dragon passed over the forest's edge, the sea of green lightening in shade as she passed over the field that bordered the leafy expanse. She'd not been here before, but ti seemed about as safe as any other place she'd found since she'd arrived, and as such, she landed in a spray of dirt and grass.

The dragoness stepped forward a few strides, every bit as regal as any human royal might be, causing the sunlight to glance and shimmer off her scaly hide. She hummed as the sun beat it's warmth down upon, compelling her to lay down and nap. And she would have, had she not caught the scents of two being among the trees that were not the same as the forest that surrounded them.

Terem lifted her head from the ground, peering into the trees. She couldn't see anything unusual beneath their leafy boughs, but she could easily smell whatever it was. She wasn't terribly worried about it, she hadn't felt threatened in decades, and her curiosity was beginning to get the best of her. Rather than standing and trying to frighten whatever it was away, she simply continued to lay there in the sun, sparkling like a mound of gemstones.

If nothing else, she could use a snack.

Just above the canopy of trees skimmed a dragon so white that the reflections of the sun off her scales caused a hundred hundred miniature rainbow-colored flecks of light to spatter the ground. She soared effortlessly, clipping the very tops of the trees with her talon as she passed, not caring much for the angry cries of the birds below.

She looked about, hunting for a place to land. It wasn't too long until she found a suitable gap in the trees, through which she dove with the noise only a dragon might make. Once on the ground, she yawned and curled up. It had been a long flight.

Terem shifted slightly from her curled position, picking up the scent of charred meat. It wasn't that she wasn't used to the scent, but it seemed...out of place here. She stood once more and sniffed again, letting her tongue flick out for more accurate knowledge. It was definitely burnt meat.

she thought to herself before pushing into the tree between the scent and her. It was rough going, but her scales protected her from the trees, and she was careful not to tear her wings on any loose branches. She would hate to be stuck on the ground because she had been careless.

As she pushed her way through the trees, Ixu's thought reached her at roughly the same time she heard Auric's question. She stopped confused, and snorted, a puff of smoke roiling away to rise through the tree branches. Wanting more than ever to know who was beyond her sight, she forced her way through the last bit of brush, only to see a pair of dragons, one pink and silver, the other a deep bronze, before her.

She was startled to find them, but it only lasted a few moments. What lasted was her impressions of them. One, a small dart-like pestering dragon and the other, a deep-chested marvel of the species, large enough to intimidate her, though only a little.

The two conflicting means of communication caught her off guard again, forcing her to snort as she puzzled it out. The largest of them, and the only male she knew to be male, was injured in ways she'd never wish on a dragon lest they were her enemy. The two tending to him, she thought odd, given their lack of wings and odd chirping noises, instead of the grumbles and growls of her kin. As for the last of them, the small pink and silver dart, Terem couldn't think of why such a small dragon would act so mighty. It was a bit baffling.

She was watching them as them healed him and although they were doing a good job with what they knew, there were faster and easier ways for one like him to heal.

[I see I was misunderstood. I was wondering what dragon species you are. I'm a Sky Dragon, adept at flying. And I assure you, the honor is mine. It has been far too long since I've seen one of our kind who was so large. As for Fire Dragons, they can be. They just tend to be a bit more...aggressive about their lands. Hold on a moment.]

She looked up and then leaped straight through the thinned branches above her, taking flight as easily as if she were simply stepping up a small cliff. She circled a bit, dove back into the forest, then returned through the hole she'd made. In her maw were several dozen plants, all the same.

[Eat these. They promote health and, if cooked in the fire of your belly, will aid in your recovery. Mind you, the fires must be your own, or they become a poison.] She nodded and they lay down, the twigs and such beneath her reduced to splinters under her hard scales.

She kept moving, only once touching his soft scales with her hand. They were pliable, like a hatchling's, but he was so large that it seemed odd for them not to be as hard as hers. As she listened to his story, she could only think of a few things that would cause him to transform.

"I suspect that the red did something more than try to cook you, or you were lucky. Either he wasn't trying to kill you and instead layered his flames with a spell, using the heat as the catalyst to make the change, or your natural dragonblood forced the change to keep you alive. Even if you didn't want it, your scales protected you from his fires enough to keep you alive."

She passed from under his right side and tapped on his scales, physically asking him to lower his wing so she could look it over. Although it wasn't next to her yet, she could see that it was damaged terribly.

"Go back? And how do you plan on doing that, short of walking the whole way. You're wings are beyond flight-worthy right now, unless you really only wanted to fly this one time." She looked at his head for a moment then down at the herbs on the ground. "Would you please just cook them and eat them already. They won't kill you."

She held his wing on her hands and then began to run her fingers over the membrane, testing it where it was still strong. She knew it would heal, but it would take far longer if left alone, and it probably wouldn't work quite as well. She wanted to tell him about the inherent magic in the plants she'd brought, but if she did, then he'd never realize that he'd have to do things himself.

"As for what happened, I'm also thinking that the second theory is correct. The burns you've sustained are severe, but not as bad as they would be. Had he been using the flames to convey a spell, you probably wouldn't have these burns, or they would be so mild that you wouldn't even notice them."

She stopped perusing his wing for a moment and walked in front of him.

"No fire? Do you not know how, or do you not have the ability?" She lifted one of the herbs, though it was nearly as long as she was tall in this form, and then breathed out a thin stream of pale blue flames, singing the green stalk to a deep amber. She then began popping off pieces and eating them, smiling at the sweet flavor.

"If you just don't know how, make a spark and then I'll light it. Once lit, swallow it to get all the fires going. It'll work once, and should teach you how for later. Otherwise, i don't know what to tell you."

The sudden jolt of lighting in the air startled her. She watched him queerly for a moment before pointing at the pile of herbs.

"Again, and this time hit the herbs. After all, Lightning is simply confined and directed fire. Cook, then eat." She went back to his lowered wing, still munching away at the plant in her hand while looking over the ruined membrane's trailing edge.

Terem stood at his wing and continued to look it over, pleased that it wasn't nearly as damaged as it could have been. As the air around them resounded with the thunder-crack that followed lightning, she looked over at the now burning herbs.

"You may want to eat that quickly," she said as if it were nothing odd. But then again, to her, it really wasn't. She picked up her spear and fit the black tip beneath one of his scales before suddenly pulling it off the underlying flesh. Picking it up from the ground, she ran the sleek surface between her fingers, disappointment showing on her humanoid face.

"You'll want to find some platinum or emeralds to eat soon as well. They help promote strong scales. I prefer platinum, myself, but it's because it's a bit lighter and better for flyers."
