Personality

The Elders often stick to the diplomatic side of things, trying to solve problems with words and bargains. They are ruthless when things come to violence, and will leave no survivors.

The Creed:

I am an island of calm in a sea of evil and darkness.

I will strive for greater knowledge.

I am a warrior of the night. Darkness and stealth are my brothers.

The sun is my sister, keeping me safe in the day and energizing me.

I protect the humans and vampires. When they clash, humans will always be my first priority.

Kings may fall and princes rise, but The Elders will stand.

No seeker is to be rejected. All deserve enlightenment.

My vengeance will be clear on those who have murdered my human kin.

My vampire brothers are strong, and I will strive to keep them safe from hunters.

Money is nothing. Knowledge is everything.

Time to me is but a word

History

The elders first formed during Uruk age of Mesopotamia. The elders of that time were much different and not Daywalking vampires. They served as advisers to many kings. As time progressed the Elders migrated. They moved to Greece. As Greece rose in power, the Elders did as well. They served as guides for many great leaders such as Agamemnon, King Minos, and others. The Elders foresaw the rising of Rome and left Greece, traveling across the sea to Italy. There they lived from 721 B.C. to the year 406 A.D. They where caught up in The Crossing of the Rhine and migrated north into the tribelands of Britain. There they became seers and mad-men. During their time in Britain they became vampiric people, feeding on the blood of camps they'd ransacked. They then forcibly impregnated tribes women. This is considered to be the birth of the Daywalking Elders as we know today. One daywalker, the oldest one living, is residing one Wing City today. These daywalkers traveled far south, and back to Italy. They resided their until the apex of the Renaissance, when the War of The Elders took place. Seer Razimuth and Seer Exhelim began to feud over which path The Elders should take. Razimuth believed that the group should take the path of enlightenment and remove themselves from their crude surroundings to further their vast knowledge. Exhelim abhorred the thought of this and believed that the true way was to influence history directly and perhaps one day rule over the whole of the world. The two began to fight openly during meditations and soon the other Elders began to pick sides. Almost one hundred years from the end of the Renaissance the two sides would clash, leaving the small town of San Donato in shambles at their feet.

Seer Razimuth arose victorious along with Justice Raines, his Italian name was lost to the waves of time. The two went about rebuilding The Elders and setting them on the track to knowledge and enlightenment. They came to America on a ship, It's name is still unknown, and became captives to the native peoples. They slwoly gained trust and friendship. The Elders became great shaman to the tribe, and were revered. As time went on they were forced to abandon the tribe for fear of being accused for the recent attacks on the tribe. They ran to the north, where they waited until long after the Revolutionary war. There they came upon a young store cleaner by the name of Michael Robertson, and a messenger named Lucas Whitt. The four of them served for the north in the Civil War. After the Civil war, they happened on a burned down shack and a young boy named Richard DuFont. He had come from the far north with his pa and they had been attacked by big dogs who spoke like men. The Elders took in Richard in and not many events of interest happened until the seventies on Earth. The Elders were visited by a dream about a young man who was to be called Geronimo and his brother Alexandre. They search all across the country and found him at Woodstock. During the meeting they were attacked by werewolves and several vampire hunters and Alexandre was killed. The Elders then met in their sanctuary under The Lincoln memorial and decided that as soon as possible, they must leave Earth for a new home. This being said, they jumped at the chance to leave Earth and travel to Terra. They built a large home in what is now the Slums, and used it as their new sanctuary. They have resided there ever since, mostly untouched by the ages.

So begins...

The sun was low in the sky, and The Elders had just convened their meditations. Seer Razimuth stood silently in the shack above sanctuary and took in the scents of the flowers and plants. The upper shack was full of large vines and beautiful flowers that Razimuth had been personally overseeing since he'd built this place. The Shack was a small add on to a run down mansion that Razimuth had also built long ago. The Seer sprinkled water on his ferns, and kneeled down to take in the beautiful smell of the nearby azaleas. While he stood he heard the other Daywalkers speaking softly in the alleyway nearby. Lucas chuckled softly, and tightened his scarf.

While Razimuth watered the plants, Justice set out into the Slums for his daily walk. He adjusted his glasses and turned down a thin alleyway nearby. While he walked he saw some young lovers possibly procreating in the nearby building. He shook his head, and continued on his walk. The time went by and the sun had almost descended behind the nearby buildings. Soon the vampires would be out, and Justice would chuckle when they tried to intimidate them just like he did every evening. Nothing was different. It was the same as always.

Justice leaned out from around the corner and watched as the vampires charged, "Oh dear, looks like a bit of a tussle." He said, adjusting his glasses. He scratched his beard and wrapped his blanket-shawl around him tightly. He decided to look on and make sure the human could hold her own with he attack dog. He was impressed by how many vampires she'd challenged. "Must be a hunter." He deduced, sighing a bit. He may have to go intervene, but watching was fine for now.

Justice raised an eyebrow as the vampires were disintegrated, "Goodness." He said, stepping out from his hiding spot. He held his hands up so that he didn't look harmful, "Who are you?" He asked, walking into the flickering street light. His glasses hung loosely on his nose.

"Are you some sort of vampire hunter?" He also inquired, frowning slightly. He hated it when the hunters attacked him and his associates. A few more vampires scurried around in the surrounding buildings, too afraid to come out and possibly die.

Justice kept his hands in the air, and looked nervously at the hound. Alone he may have been able to take the hunter, but knowing that the dog was a were-hound definitely tipped it in her favor if things got violent. Hopefully they wouldn't.

"The ones I know call me Justice." He said, his eyes staring straight into hers now. He had fangs. Sharp fangs. He didn't often use them, but she most likely didn't know that. Fanged people are all the same thing to these people. The man looked like a hobo. An old, sad hobo.

Justice dropped his hands by his side, "Of course not. These vampires are punks." He said, sighing in relief. The old daywalker seemed to hunch over slightly, as if relaxing. He wrapped his blanket-shawl around himself, and breathed out. A faint ghost of air exited his mouth and dissipated into the cold evening air.

It makes sense for him to not be targeted. He's an Elder. They preferred only to hide away, as was custom.

Justice straightened slightly, and his spine cracked several times until he was standing at full height. "I live here. This is my home." He said, watching the dog transform.

Behind Justice another old man stood next to him. This man had a long grey beard that was braided down to his waist at least. He crossed his arms behind his back and smiled, "Hello, welcome to the Slums." He said, winking. Razimuth bowed slightly to the two.

Razimuth chuckled, "Yes, our home." He then shook his head, "Our numbers are none of your concern, huntress." He said, smiling warmly. He put off a sense of calm, as he always did. He may look even more ancient than his friend, but that only meant that he was much more powerful.

A young dark skinned man sat silently on a bench near to the ladies. He wore a tie-dye shirt, and a green bandanna was wrapped around his short afro. He scratched his goatee and continued to read the newspaper that he was holding. The man wore baggy grey pants, and torn white socks without shoes. He glanced up as the man entered the gardens, "A drunk." He said under his breath while his fingers flipped the newspaper pages idly.

Next to the man sat an older looking gentleman. He wore a torn business suit and some sneakers. A large red scarf hung around his neck and reached his kneecaps. The man yawned slightly, and pulled some small died crust from his beard. It looked like strawberry jam, almost. His eyes were a strange yellow, like old paper and they watched Johann like a hawk. Lucas could smell Johann's origin from miles away. The Daywalkers were down wind from Johann so their scent would carry to him.

At her feet was a small flower growing from a crack in the pavement. She was on the right track. The Elders were known for their beautiful gardens, and one of the ways to find them was to follow the flowers. It was one of the better known ways, and if Lorn had been any later, she may have never found them. The Elders had just recently come to the consensus that the flowers needed to be moved, and altered.

A vampire watched Lorn from a grimy window, and waited. He was hungry. He hadn't eaten in days. As soon as she passed, he'd exit the building, and chase her down and kill her. It hadn't occurred to him that he was in Elder territory. If the vampire remained any longer, Geronimo would pay him a visit.

The vampire pushed open the door, and was visible only for a second before seeming to withdraw back into the building. In reality, he was just pulled back into the building and torn to shreds by a Daywalker by the name of Geronimo.

As Lorn reached the larger of the flowery areas, she would see a door. It was unlocked, and if she entered she would see an old man sitting on a bench. Around the room was soft, green grass, and beautiful flowers.

His eyes were grey and he could not see though as she entered, he turned and seemed to watch.

The old man grinned widely, "I see," He spoke with a calm, and warm voice, "I am Razimuth, please, follow me, Lorn Beloke." He said, standing. The way he moved was more like a man of a third his age, or at least the age he appeared to be. Razimuth had been around for longer than almost any other Daywalker.

As they would turn and leave, Geronimo would shut the door behind them and remain in the garden chamber. Razimuth lead her down a long spiral staircase, which would seem to take forever until they finally spilled out into The Sanctuary itself. It was lined with books, and several other men spoke, and read. They sat in rocking chairs, and on pillows. As Razimuth and Lorn entered, they all stood and bowed respectably.

Razimuth motioned towards a red pillow at the head of a circle of pillows. Each of the Daywalkers took a seat on one of the pillows, and Razimuth himself took a seat on the one across from the red one.

"Please, Lorn Beloke, present your situation." He said, smiling warmly. All of The Elders seemed incredibly friendly if she made eye contact with any of them. They would each smile and nod at her. All of them appeared homeless, though this was obviously their home.

They all crossed their legs, and relaxed.

Richar DuFonte nodded, "We are aware of a great many things, girl, get to th-" Razimuth held up a hand, "Now, Richard, allow her to finish. Indeed we have, Lorn Beloke, continue." He said, smiling. Richard shifted his eyes from Lorn to Razimuth, and then back again, "I apologize."

The Elders returned to their attentive state. Being Daywalkers, they still had human behaviors. This is what kept them above the vampires though.

Razimuth nodded, Mike, have you any knowledge?" He asked, turning to the dark skinned man. He thought for a moment, and spoke, "I think I do, Razimuth, they need the soul of living being, given willingly." He said, looking to the Seer, Razimuth.

"Do you require any more from us?" Lucas asked, leaning on his hand. He had meant that as a joke, but Justice grinned, "Indeed, if you need anything more, do not be afraid to ask." He said, adjusting his glasses.

Geronimo nodded, "Anything." He said, his voice sounded deep and scratchy. He was the youngest of The Elders.

Geronimo nodded, and handed her a small silver stone, "All you need to do is bring a willing sacrifice for each transfer you wish to complete, and bring them here. We will preform The Right of AshiKente." He said, gesturing to Wise Mike. The Daywalker nodded, and showed her the pages from the book he held in his hand. It was an image of a shackled man, screaming, "The body of the sacrifice will remain chained and unable to break free, but the soul of the person will be consumed by the titan. It will be very painful." He said, sounding grave, "It is the only way."

The Elders all nodded.

The Elders all nodded again, and Razimuth spoke, "It is always a pleasure." He said, standing. The rest of The Elders also stood, and bowed. They seemed to disperse, but Justice remained. "Lorn Beloke, if you ever need any help, we are here." He said, bowing again.

He turned, and went back to his sitting place to read over more books. This was the daily life of a Daywalker, except during wartime. It was much different during wartime.

There was a quiet shuffling inside, and the door opened. An elderly man with dull eyes stood in the doorway. He didn't look at Ikiros, but near him. The man was blind. He smiled, "It's you." He said, stepping back to allow Ikiros to enter. "We've been waiting for you." He chuckled. The old man appeared to be able to see despite his obvious blindness.

Inside the building was a beautiful garden, and several lanterns hung from the ceiling. The man shut the door once Ikiros was inside, and motioned for him to approach a blank wall, "I hope you kept the amulet that was in the letter." He said, pointing to the indent on the wall. It was an old rune for knowledge.

"Once the door opens, just head down. I'll be right behind you." The man said, patting Ikiros on the shoulder. The old man moved as if he were still a young man in his twenties.

The man followed behind him as the door opened and they entered, "We've known of your presence for long enough to be interested by it. We haven't had an Atlantean in our den for a long time." He said, smiling. The last time was very brief, they had several questions about other Atlanteans that, sadly, The Elders could not answer. Knowledge was a powerful thing, and to gain some from a people as rare as Atlanteans was very exciting.

They would walk down a long spiraling staircase. There was very little light other than the occasional lamp. Once they got to the bottom, there was an intricate stone door. It was covered in Cuneiform writing that overlapped carvings of battles and faces.

"I take it you do not have the amulet that was provided, but I commend your magical abilities."

The old man chuckled, "It's made of a very old stone, from my home. Sumaria." He placed his hand on it, and pushed it open slowly. It opened very smoothly and revealed a dimly lit room full of stacks upon stacks of books. Hundreds upon thousands of books. And sitting around them were old men. They all stood as the man and Ikiros entered.

"A real Atlantean." One of them muttered. The last Atlantean came looking for answers and would share no knowledge with them. The others all remained silent. "Please, take a seat Atlantean and I will introduce my brothers to you." The man said, stepping past Ikiros and joining The Elders.

There was a pillow, surrounded by a semi-circle of other pillows. Whether or not Ikiros took a seat on the pillow, the man would still introduce his fellows. "This is Lucas Whitt, he hails from Greece. This is Michael, from-" Michael interrupted, "Please, call me Wise Mike." The blind one smiled and then continued, "Our newest member, Richard DuFont hails from Canada. This man is Geronimo, from America. Then there's Justice from Rome. Last but not least, I am Razimuth. Seer of the Elders." Once he was done, the all bowed lightly to Ikiros.

The all took their own seats, and looked at him happily. Lucas spoke up, "Knowledge. We want to learn from you." He said, looking over at Wise Mike who had a notepad open and was writing down Ikiros's appearance as they sat.

Lucas had heard the stories of Atlantas sinking into the sea and had even written a few analyses of it during his own free time here in the Den. They all seemed very eager when Ikiros opened his mouth to speak.

They all looked to Wise Mike, "Hm, social customs to start off please, like gatherings or greeting rituals." He said, tapping the end of the chewed up pencil on his chin. The whole group looked to Ikiros. They were plenty aware that there were things that couldn't be revealed to them and they'd hate to pressure him into anything. They'd stay with the simple aspects of life and then use that to write their analysis.

"By the way, thank you for joining us for the evening." Richard said, smiling. The Elders treated knowledge like the most treasured possession, and to receive new information was a very rare occurrence.

Wise Mike wrote furiously as Ikiros talked, even detailing the tone of the Atlantean's voice as he talked about things. He thought for a moment, "Any dishes that are famous or common in your home?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. Food was an important cultural factor, and Mike wanted to know more about what people ate.

"Also, any modes of transportation or architecture." He said, illustrating a few things in simple drawings.

The all nodded, and exchanged glances. Wise Mike smiled and drew what he imagined things looking like, "Thank you very much Ikiros, I think I have everything that I need." He said, closing the notepad. The rest of them stood up along with Wise Mike and bowed again to Ikiros. "Thank you, and you are welcome in our Den for as long as it remains." Razimuth said, stepping forward and holding his hand out to Ikiros.

If Ikiros took his hand, Razimuth would place a hand on his shoulder and look Ikiros directly in the eyes. He nodded again, and smiled. He didn't detect ill will towards the group, and would allow Ikiros to leave.
