Introduction

What you are told: in 2014 World War Three was clearly on its way, and Nuclear war was inevitable. As a way to protect the American people, all Americans were advised to evacuate their homes and take refuge in one of the many underground facilities which accommodate up to 20,000 people. For the past 6 years these citizens have been told about the horrible war going on just above their heads and are forced to put faith in those running the show. All those who have been brought into these facilities have been marked with a barcode on their wrist. This barcode is their entire identity. America has turned into a military state and anything unknown is not trusted.
What is going on: those who didn't go to the detention centers willingly were immediately hunted and killed. In an attempt to thin out the population, Big Brother has decided to kill off all of the thinkers that were left behind. Those who dared to question their motives were mercilessly slaughtered. Of course some got away, but a civil war has broken out on U.S. soil and one side doesn't even know it. Anyone who has not conformed is a rebel, any human that has not been marked is considered a wild animal and is to be captured or killed.
All humans are being reprogrammed to live off fear and subservience to Big Brother. Humans are to obey and love their merciful leader and that is all. The few rebels who are captured alive are usually immediately placed in a detention center and heavily medicated until they are submissive, then taken into torture centers to withdraw information. Some people are killed, the rest of them are normally so fried from the "electroshock therapy" they are considered no threat and returned to "society".
There is an exclusive army above ground whom hunt the Rebels. They do not exist and therefore have no name, but the liberty fighters have dubbed them as 'Big Brothers' all big brothers are well over six feet with cold blue eyes and blonde hair. It is assumed they are strictly of the European bloodline and their purpose is to cleanse the world above ground. The big brothers are able to execute inhuman like physical capabilities, and lack emotions such as compassion or mercy.
Big Brother is pure evil, some sort of satanic spawn. Through out the war there have been strange incidents that have made the people draw this conclusion. Big Brother is unable to trespass on hollowed land, churches and cemeteries a quick refuge. Once a brother grabbed a woman by her wrist which bore a rosary, the cross burning into his skin. It is because of these incidents that the People have deduced it is in fact the Revelations and they are facing a war of good versus evil.
They want to change the state of our society similar to that of the dark ages. Again it will be the almighty and the servants. Humans are being trained to behave and within the detention centers they are stripped of their individuality. Although in these detention centers, the inmates are given an apartment for them and their family, schooling and even recreational activities, because of their isolation and oblivious to the truth it is obvious that they have bigger things in store for the human race.
The people who survived were the ones who were once teased for being paranoid, the radicals of our day. American activists who had been detained and put into a psych wards, they're more common than you think. The rebels intend to fight and enlighten those who've been lied to. There are liberty fighters scattered across the States, and they rely on their primal instincts and sheet wit to survive. Communication has been worn down to the basics; smoke signals, horns, hand signals, trained hawks to deliver scripts.
Head Quarters is just between the borders of Northern California and Oregon, in the forest. Along one of the many mountains in the vast land, there is a waterfall. Behind that waterfall is a cave which leads into the underground tunnels of where most Rebels call home. This place is called Utopia.
Utopia is mostly for women and children and is always heavily guarded, the land is vast and plentiful and is what has kept the people alive. Meetings of utmost secrecy and importance is held in Utopia, but troops are usually out on missions or distracting Big Brother from their home base. All rebels are given a capsule they may take if captured. Some people do not take it and are placed in the detention center on D restriction. This means they are constantly monitored and isolated until they are deemed behaved well enough to "rejoin civilization". At this point they are put on "C" restriction where they are constantly accompanied with a guard as they are introduced back into civilization and part time isolation. No inmates from above ground will be placed on B restriction until they agree to take medication, which most eventually consent to. On B restriction they are allowed to mingle with civilization without a guard, and allowed a single room that is not on constant surveillance. Only the best behaved or highly medicated are allowed on A restriction which gives free reign over the whole base which has a food court, a movie theater, shopping centers (not clothes, just household products, toys, books)...
EVERYTHING is censored, no one underground knows the truth. All forms of media (TV, news, books, movies) is controlled and is being used to brainwash those in captivity. Soldiers occasionally return to tell stories of above ground activity, but even they are lied to. Any troops that come across compromising information are bombed mercilessly before they can express doubts in their leaders further, and they believe those they fight are the enemy, not their fellow Americans.

The rebellion has many names, but they prefer to just call themselves the people. At the time that people began to go underground, there was about 315 million people residing within the USA. About 20 million went underground, leaving millions behind. These people were slaughtered and those who got away were hunted. These are the thinkers, the challengers, and therefore are unwanted seed in the human race. The rebellion knows too much, but Big Brother knows the most brilliant of the human race is what consist of the people. Now they wish to capture the rebels and medicate them into submission, using their skills for the very same people they fought to defy.
There is talk of the rapture, that soon God will return to collect his children. With the world in shambles, most people turn to God just to keep their sanity. It is rumored that soon Jesus will return to his people, even sights of Angels in battle or in the sky watching over. The talk on the street is that humanity has been given an extension to prove their worthiness to their God. It lays in the hands of the people to right the wrongs of our ancestors.

1. I will not be silenced.
2. I will not submit.
3. I will not take the mark of the beast.
4. I will remain loyal to my God.
5. I will not give up.
6. I will maintain my humanity.
7. I will work to enlighten the ignorant.
8. I will not be swayed by false prophets.
9. I will fight for my liberty.
10. I will not let them take me alive.
Living in an uncivilized society, the rebels are considered "savages" or "wild". These people are not rich in possession but in spirit. Compassion, love and respect are the core of their beliefs. Of course there is some conflict, but it is handled accordingly. The people know that turning on each other is just was Big Brother would want, their common enemy binding them all closer than blood. There are about 200,000 people living within the mountains. Utopia is strictly women and children, families seeking refuge and safety, about 10,000 families live within Utopia. Those leading the rebellion also stay within Utopia, and Soldiers return on occasion for rest and unwinding. Across the states there is a speculated one million citizens remaining above ground, and only about 75% are active in the rebellion. Some people just struggle to survive, convinced their voice will never be heard. The People will not give up, the sake of humanity depends on it.

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 8 authors
Cutting in and out of sleep, Drew was grateful that the hall traffic was absent and he was able to have some peace of mind through his drunken state. All the time he had his father hovering over and scrutinizing his every move. It was endless, and home was always a place for his father to point out every fault. Although he wasn't swaddled in blankets in his hammock, Drew was comfortable enough to drift off. A voice calling his name made him jerk out of sleep, the jest of his drunken state being because he couldn't hold his liquor making his lips pull into a tight smile.
[i]"Let me guess, avoiding home until the alcohol wears off some? Well I'd bet anything your dad's asleep by now - it's pretty late. So here let me help you up, you should be trying to get some sleep tonight."[\i]
He wanted to object, but a lurching sensation in his stomach told him that he would need help getting up. Allowing Nizhoni to help him up, Drew chuckled as he leaned his weight into the woman. "My oh my, you must buy me dinner first." He said in a falsetto voice, cracking as his sentence phased away. Humor was still making his blood rush, and despite having slept some, Drew felt even drunker than before. That moonshine had really done a number on him. Walking toward his home, an image of himself at the watering hole with Sarah made him take a serious expression.
"Can you believe that bitch asked if I was gay?" His brashness was out of character, but his inhibitions were at an all time low. Funny how when he began drinking was when he began acting like his twin. Leaning so that his lips were only centimeters from Nizhoni's smooth cheek, he sighed. "I'm for damn sure not gay." He said half to himself, stumbling along. "Do you think I'm gay? Cuz maybe that's why I never get laid, everyone thinks I'm fucking gay." If his slurred speech wasn't indication enough, Drew had shifted into a alcohol fused rant. Throwing up his hands, Drew shouted out belligerently, "I'm straight, damnit! I like tits and ass!....just don't know how to fucking talk to these hoes." His angry comments were almost comical as he wobbled out a few steps, then leaning against the wall. His breath was labored, as if he had just ran a marathon, and once again he rested his head against the wall as if to nap.

Drew leaned into her as he tried to catch his balance. "My oh my, you must buy me dinner first." he'd joke, and Nizhoni would simply shake her head and smile as it became painfully clear the only thing that was going to sober Drew up was a long nights sleep an a cold shower.
"You're so going to regret this in the morning....." she'd mutter under her breath, before the two began to head towards the Hanover residence.
"Can you believe that bitch asked if I was gay?" Drew would randomly blurt out along the way.
It would take Nizhoni a couple seconds to put together he was talking about Sarah, but before she could make her own smart comment she felt his breath on her cheek - his lips only centimeters from her skin.
"I'm for damn sure not gay."
At first her back would straighten stiffly from his closeness but she'd quickly relax it again and sigh as he continued on.
"Do you think I'm gay? Cuz maybe that's why I never get laid, everyone thinks I'm fucking gay."
At this point he had let go of her hand and began to theatrically rant. "I'm straight, damnit! I like tits and ass!....just don't know how to fucking talk to these hoes."
Others might of found Drew's behavior appalling, or something that should be rep-remanded, however Nizhoni knew it was the alcohol talking and couldn't help but give him leeway. Despite what he'd ever admit to anyone she knew he had to be under immense pressure, and that knowledge guided how she responded to him.
"No Drew, you're the furthest thing from gay....you're just insanely wasted." she'd respond softly while watching him stagger a bit until he ended up against a nearby wall.
"I know you're probably too drunk to understand me but," Nizhoni would break her sentence long enough to walk in front of him and lightly grab his chin. "you're really lucky it was me who found you, and not one of these whiners who jump at the chance to run and tell Lou every little thing."
Her tone was light but serious at the same time, there were quite a number of people who were gossip hounds in Utopia and couldn't resist running and telling Lou an others in command any little tid bit of gossip they could dig up, and even though there was nothing that could be said that would make Drew lose his position, Nizhoni knew first hand how fathers could be towards their sons if they messed up - seeing as how her brothers often use to complain about such things and call her the golden child, so Drew was definitely lucky it wasn't one of the residence whiners who found him.
"Come on" she'd say after letting go of his chin. They were mere steps from his front door so after throwing Drew's arm around her neck Nizhoni would drag him towards the door and then through it.
Sure, she could of left him to his own devices, but he was so wasted she knew the probability of him making it inside and NOT waking up his father was extremely low.
"Which room is yours..." she'd ask more to herself, an after several seconds of pondering she'd pick one that thankfully appeared to be Drews.
"Talk about a stroke of luck." she'd mutter, before dropping Drew lightly onto his mattress. She'd go to stand back up but would stop a foot or so from Drew's face and smile.
She couldn't help but feel bad for him even though she knew he'd get annoyed with her for such pity
"Get some sleep...." she'd whisper, before standing up and making her way towards the bedroom door. Nizhoni would glance back for a few seconds then close the door, make her way out the Hanover residence, and down the darkened halls to her own room.
By the time she reached her own room again and threw the back pack on the floor her bare feet would be covered in dirt, and she'd casually wipe them clean before removing her robe and laying down for the night.
"You know....no matter how much the world changes, how much we change, how shitty everything gets.... the stars are still up there twinkling away and being as beautiful as ever. It's reassuring, ya know?" She didn't even know what she was saying, her mouth seemed to have a mind of it's own. A cold breeze hit her and she shivered slightly, unconsciously moving closer to him so she didn't feel as cold. She couldn't see many stars from where they were standing, and the grass under her feet looked wet. But it was calm and peaceful and between the mission she had just been on and the mission she was about to go on, this was exactly what she wanted.
They were under the trees and below the stars, when Katherine broke the silence. "You know....no matter how much the world changes, how much we change, how shitty everything gets.... the stars are still up there twinkling away and being as beautiful as ever. It's reassuring, ya know?" Bojangles turned his head to hear her. "Way to turn philosophical on me," a short pause interrupting his thoughts. "Yeah, yeah. I hear ya. They're just up there, and do their thing. Sort of like a mockingbird.. It's a sin to kill those ya know." Bojangles didn't know where he was going with the comment, and wasn't too sure how long she'd stay, but a breeze lowered his worries as she neared him for warmth. "Oh you.." Seeing her move closer, he put her arms around her. "You cold?" He'd tease, but he had to reveal how he really felt. "You know, I could stay like this forever."
