INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Medenios. You have lived here your whole life, as your mother and father before you, and their mother and father before them, and so on. Your childhood consisted of playing amongst the boughs of the deep forest that the village is located in and struggling alongside your parents and neighbors to bring in enough food to survive the long harsh winter. To add to these struggles are the monsters who prowl the woods, looking to sink sharp teeth into soft human flesh. A whole host of nightmarish beings live in the forest, which is why no one has ever really left the village. Lately though, things have started to get worse, and the night seems to be pressing in. The Guardians of Medenios, the warriors who dedicate their lives to defending the village are faltering against the sheer malevolence of the wood, and one of their number has gone missing. Into this atmosphere of growing fear you enter. Will you discover the roots of this growing shadow? Or will you succumb to fear like everyone else? (ASK ANY ALL QUESTIONS YOU HAVE IN OOC)

The Guardians of Medenios

The Guardians are a group of no more then seven villagers who are selected at the age of six to defend Medenios against the monsters who stalk the forest. Each is armored in an ancient suit of armor that has been around since the founding of the village. Each suit is made of bronze scales and leather from an unknown beast, and enhances each warrior's natural attributes, for better or worse. Each wields whatever weapon they desire, and trains from the age of six on until a vacancy in the guard opens. They range all around the village slaying any monster who dares come to close to Medenios. However, they are under strength right now, for one of their number, Wolgenst, went missing over a fortnight ago. As such, the six who remain are keeping close to Medenios at the order of the village council, though they desire to look for their lost comrade.

Monsters

There are many kinds of monsters within the forest, ranging from little sprites who just want to cause mischief, to beings of monstrous proportions who want to butcher every man woman and child in Medenios. But these are the most common monsters one runs into.
Giant Spiders-These beasts are usually around the size of a man, and are exceptionally viscious. Generally betrayed by the presence of webs in their area.
Yoruza- Grotesque asymmetrical monsters made of clay, usually with five arms in random spots around their torso. They eat meat, and will typically go after children. They like to strangle their victims. They can survive most blows, their only fear is fire.
Wargs- Large wolves who have been possessed by a hunger spirit that drives them to eat every living thing they see. Very dangerous.
Ools These bird like creatures take the appearance of large barn owls. They prowl the night, and search for human children to eat. Their talons are incredibly sharp, and will cut unarmored flesh to ribbons in moments.
Dulos These diminutive fellows, while cute in appearance, will steal anything they can get their grubby paws on. They are usually around eighteen inches tall, with pale skin and splotchy fur over their body. They have yellow cats eyes, and sharp teeth and claws, making grabbing one unwise. They are fairly common, but if they can get refuge in a warm house, they will breed very rapidly.
Slothiens These monsters embody the word vicious. These creatures have a snakelike lower half, with large spines protruding from the top of this appendage. The lower half leads into an appearance straight from a nightmare. Powerful muscles bulge underneath plates of insectlike carapace. One limb comes from each side, where a human arm would be, but that is where all similarities end. At the elbow, forearm, and where a hand would be are large sharp spikes that it uses to stab and tear prey. Its back is a hummock with large carapace plates where it stores hundreds of 4 inch posionous spines. Hundreds of these spines are stored in the upper carapace plates and covered by flaps. The flaps fold back before the spines fire, and the Slothien's head is dipped beforehand. These physical signs give a Slothien's foes a few seconds warning before they launch their volley. The spines can pierce flesh, bone, and even armor. They have hundreds of sharp teeth and a very powerful bite. Extremely dangerous. It usually takes three or more guardians to slay one slothien.

For character creation, only race is human. Only exception will be fore Mr.Celestial, as he is our antagonist.

@nosyfatguy Your reservation is noted.

@sench Make sure to include your fears, and a more detailed look into your character's psychology

Re: The Tale of Medenios

I'd like to reserve a guardian please ^>^

Should I take being horribly inbred into account when making a character?
Jokes aside. Anything to look out for when making a character?

Re: The Tale of Medenios

@tick Population of Medenios is around 170
@snapfish Anyone can kill a monster if they have the gear, but the guardians are the ones best equipped seeing as they have the best equipment and years of training.
@Mr.Celestial Its alright

Re: The Tale of Medenios

I do not know why my thumbnail picture is not showing up for me and/or not working at all. :(

Re: The Tale of Medenios

Alright so for some reason this story reminds me of a world called innistrad. Which got me thinking, are the guardians the only people who can even kill the monsters or is it that if you are equipped enough, you can deal with them?

Re: The Tale of Medenios

I was wondering how big of a place is Medenios & if there is any divisions among the people who live there?

Re: The Tale of Medenios

Scratch that, I'm gonna use Drawn :3

Re: The Tale of Medenios

I'm glad you're interested! I have no preference for face claims. And I'm sorry, I'll get a character sheet up ASAP. I knew I had forgotten something.

Re: The Tale of Medenios

This sounds interesting!! :3 Do you have a preference to use when it comes to FC's, like real people or Anime or Drawn? & do you have a character sheet?
