A Brief History

Ji-Min, as a young girl of fifteen, was kidnapped by Snakeheads who shipped her off to Terra. She was sold to a member of the Matsuba-kai alongside twenty other ill-fated women. They were forced to work in a brothel disguised as a massage parlor. Ji-Min, unlike the other women who were content to cower in fear and wait for rescue that would never come, decided to escape.

And escape she did. After a rather macabre affair at the parlor that included a sharpened fork and a brassiere strap.

She sought out the help of the larger criminal syndicates in Terra after escaping, knowing that she was now a criminal and a target of other members of the Matsuba-kai. Through them, through special favors, through begging, she learned street smarts, she learned how to fight, and how to survive among those that became her brothers, and against those who became her enemies.

Outside, the dragon's roar echoed through the clouds; thunder from a storm. And soon, rain began to patter gently onto the ground outside, first softly, then increasing into a torrent of wind and water, unforgiving for its freezing temperature.

And through the doors came one of its victims, drenched from head to toe, with an expression that said she simply couldn't care. The bangs of her hair were matted over her face, and she couldn't help but pull the black coat that hung loosely from her shoulders snugly to her. Her gait was heavy and tired. The product of a day filled with grudging labor.

She walked right past Sang, seating herself, instantly bringing her forehead to the counter for a few moments before heaving a sigh.

The woman planted her hand onto the counter, the wood deepening in color as it became damp from rainwater. She lifted her head heavily to look up to the Japanese man, biting her bottom lip. She took up the sake, looking at it cautiously.

She then put it down, reached over into Sang's pocket, and pulled out a cigarette, plopping it into her mouth. "Light me when I come back, Babo." she said to Sang, walking over to Leo Amron.

She reached out to take the load, which she would carry, and quite surprisingly, much more easily than Leo was.

"Don't drop nothin'."

"Sister?" she chuckled. "You're not one of by brothers, honey." She reached out to grab his wrist and turn it over. "What kind of yakuza gets his tattoos on his fingers, eh?" she spat. Traditionally, hers ended just at her wrists and neck, hanging from her shoulders like an open shirt.

She caught the lighter and brought it up to her cigarette, hand cupped over the end as the little device came to life with flame and caught fire to the cancer stick.

"Too tired to start a fight, but it'd be easy to jump into one." she said to him, flinging the lighter right back.

Ji-Min hardly had a love for the Yakuza, herself. But what choice did she have in the past?

"It ain't none of your Goddamn business what I did to be where I am, gaejasik." she hissed. Funnily enough, even though it was her first time to Gambit's, she felt strangely at home with the rather...large...amount of violence in the bar.

"Who's dick did you suck to get kicked out?"

She kept her eyes on Leo as she spoke, never once looking Sang in the face. "Don't listen to this shithead! Highway to Hell!"

Ji-Min stood up sharply as the alcohol was thrown at her, and a fierce and very venomous glare was offered to Sang. For a moment, anyone would assume that she was about to reach for her gun and pull the trigger into Sang's head she looked so incredibly furious.

"You wanna die?" she growled, grabbing a napkin to dry herself off. She waved a hand dismissively to Leo, a sneer passing her lips.

"Oh. I'm surprised they were able to find it. Did they use a magnifying glass and a pair of tweezers?"

A mirthless smirk crossed her face as she reached her hand down to pat the pistol that was hidden away within her own coat. Like hell she was unarmed.

"Too much gun and shooting." she told Sang. "I'm leaving."

And, with that, she turned and walked, quite promptly, back out of the door.

The door to the small apartment building slammed open, revealing the young yakuza woman, who had already changed into her nightclothes and was wearing nothing but a flowery black and pink robe over undergarments. She was red in the face, with her knuckles white from gripping the frame of the doors.

"The fuck are you doing!?" she screamed out to Sang. "Gguh juh! Jot daegari! Di jillae?!"

Ji-Min narrowed her eyes dangerously, giving Sang three whole seconds of her glare before she slammed the door shut. Five seconds passed before it opened again, this time to an incredibly cranky Korean woman with a gun in her hands.

"Fucking get your car away from my apartment!" she cried. "I'll blow a hole in your fuckin' face! My gang isn't here! They're back in Japan, retard! And if you want to deal with the Yamaguchi-gumi, go ahead and be my guest! If you don't remember, they're the largest yakuza Japan has to offer!"

Ji-Min kept yelling, advancing, though staying within the confines of the sidewalk. She continued to scowl, pointing the gun right at him as he apologized. "Piece of shit needs to lear-"

Before she could even utter the next syllable, the word became a cry of pure agony. The gun slipped out of her hand, clattered onto the ground.

Ji-Min fell, grasping her thigh with both hands, curling up onto the concrete. She gasped for pained breaths, vision whiting out. The two shots had landed perfectly.

Ji-Min could do nothing. She did not reach for her gun. She only grasped her leg, cried, tears spilling out of her eyes, forehead pressed to the ground as she shuddered, once more, because of the sheer amount of pain coming from her shot, bleeding, shattered knee.

She looked up at Sang with nothing but hate, nothing but complete and utter disgust.

She had nothing to say. What did she have to apologize for? As if she could hardly speak through gritted teeth. Blood pooled around her, and already the woman began to go pale.

She did not flinch as he put the barrel of the gun to her forehead. Not the first time, nor the second. She did place her hand down, however, to try and push herself up, revealing, unintentionally, that the first digit of her little finger was missing. Cut off. Likely as a form of punishment.

"Yumago." she spat. "You go ahead and kill me; I won't even apologize in hell when I see you there!"

Ji-Min was a strong girl. Since she was fifteen, she couldn't remember a day that had passed where she hadn't fought, either for her freedom, her defense, her pride. But now, she couldn't do any such thing. Her kneecap was busted. She was bleeding. She had a gun to her head.

And as the barrel slammed against the side of her skull, she saw the world double, and became dizzy. Yet more pain rang through her body. Oh, God, how much more could she take?

Once flipped over, the robe dropped down over her shoulders.

"Unlike you, my ink wasn't punishment." she informed him, summoning enough saliva from the back of her throat to spit in his face. "They're my pride!"

The only pride she had left.

Ji-Min managed to trudge into the bar, even in her mess. How pitiful she must have looked, having as much trouble with opening a door as a toddler. Adjusting the crutches beneath her armpits, she shouldered the thing open, scowling as much as she could before she made it to the counter, dumping herself on the nearest stool. Beside Charlotte.

The Korean woman leaned her crutches onto the counter, groaning under her breath as she readjusted her knee. That bastard, Sang, who shot her in the knee just a week prior. Fucking hell, if she saw him again-!

"...going to kill him." she muttered to herself, in earshot of Charlotte, though it wasn't as if she understood the extent of what she was saying.

Ji-Min had been strengthening her legs as much as she could. After that Jap asshole shot her in the knee, she had to get fuckin' screws and shit implanted.

But that was okay. Because the next time Sang Kyung rolled up to her apartment, he would find proximity bombs on her doorstep. Just for him.

For now, however, Ji-Min hobbled down the sidewalk with one crutch stuffed under her arm. She pulled her jacket around her more closely for the chilly air, nearly shrugging right by Jackson.

...but something stopped her, suddenly, before she passed him, prompting her to stare.

Aneres Coreveon wasn't dressed as obscurely as she would have liked to believe. The shimmering white kimono-style overlayer embroidered with golden moons down the sleeves, the long-hemmed fringe coming to rest just above the hemline of golden bell-bottoms. Beneath was a plain white top. A golden chain poked out from the collar but the rest of it was tucked beneath the shirt.

There was nothing Aneres could do about the bodyguards who followed her, but she had grown used to that to some degree. At least they let her style them at this point. It made everyone's job easier.

Aneres flicked golden braids to look one way up the street, then the other, then back again. A grunt from one of the bodyguards signaled that it was alright to cross. Halfway across the street she felt a slight tremor of energy. The bodyguards picked up their pace and hurried Aneres across. She didn't protest. They came to stop a stone's throw from a mercedes, a man perched atop the back.

"Did you feel that?" Aneres asked the man, half looking down her nose despite the fact that he was literally seated higher up than where she stood. Her tone wasn't pretentious but there was something about it that dripped with royalty.
